Due May 2010: Into the third trimester we go, can the bumps get any bigger?

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 02/02/2010 14:19

So here's the continuation of the thread previously known as Due May 2010: Where we get a 'bloom' just in time for the christmas mayhem???
Let's see if this one lasts up until the first birth... Knowing how chatty we can be, I doubt it!

Marking my place!

I doubt this thread will last us 4 months MdeM, I think we should try and go for a new record of a week!

New milestone reached this week - my tummy actually quivers everytime Baby moves which is quite a peculiar sight. And it's started bouncing off my cervix I think, it's not pleasant.

Hope everyone's doing ok x

Hollyoaks · 02/02/2010 14:44

MDM - thanks for the new thread No chance of still being here when first lo arrives unless we get an extremely early arrival. I'll give it till 1st March .

My1stBumo - my lo's being doing that, it seems to start somersaulting when it gets going but those kicks lower down really make you wince.

Heffa - thanks for the message, dd has since threw up her calpol and been surgically attached to my knee. Bless her, she's asleep on a towel at the minute. Why do toddlers seem to get ill all of the time?

Den26 · 02/02/2010 15:41

MDM - thanks for new thread.

Welcome to all those who haev joined recently.

Hope all's well with everyone

brightredballoon · 02/02/2010 15:42

Thanks for the new thread MDM

Sorry to hear your littleone is poorly Hollyoaks. Hope she is better soon

Where is everyone feeling the baby kick at the moment? I am feeling lots of kicks and moving limbs at the front of my stomach especially near my belly button so I have a feeling this baby is back to back.

Hobnobfanatic · 02/02/2010 15:47

Thanks for the new thread. Saw the mw today about my stitch-like pains at the top of the bump when I've overdone things. She said it's likely to be a combination of scar tissue stretching (where I had an epigastric hernia repair post-DD1), a muscle pull where everything is stretching and I've overdone it, and the baby kicking...

Mw said, in her experience, that most people hate pg - and that those who love it are in a minority. Made me feel less of a Lady Macbeth! She also said seconds are harder, as your muscles are usually wrecked from the first, and your older, busier and more tired... Thing is, I hated being pg first time round too!

CornishSAMum · 02/02/2010 15:58

MarquiseDeMerteuil thanks for the tip on that book on what to buy your baby, I bought it and it's worth more than it's weight in gold!

Heffa and others Glad I'm not the only one hating being preggers, it's my first, maybe I'll get more enthusiastic when/if the #2 pregnancy? [sicky emotion]

Weirdest thing, I was at home listening to the baby via my doppler - bought off ebay for like £25 and has worked great since week 14 - but I heard 2 heartbeats !?! I am not expecting twins and both HR were same rate (therefore can't have mistaken one to be my own) - any possiblity I could have maybe caught the umbilical cord or something and heard the 2nd hearbeat through that? Freaked me right out I haven't listened in since!!

Hope all are well and welcome to newbies and nice to have a fresh new thread.

Den26 · 02/02/2010 16:04

Hi Cornish - last visit i had with MW she listened to Heartbeat - heard 2 very similar and she said one was the cord - so its possible thats what you heard but i'm no expert!

sweetkitty · 02/02/2010 16:18

Happy new thread just marking my place

Carikube · 02/02/2010 16:29

Thanks for the new thread...

Lola you should have more frequent MW visits in 1st pg than in subsequent ones so it doesn't sound right that you haven't had any since 8 weeks - did she not say anything then about when you needed to next come in? I would phone and get yourself another one TBH. Also because if you're 25 wks you need to have sent your Mat 1B in to work (if you're taking mat leave) and you can also now get your form for your health in pregnancy grant

As for double buggies, I did suggest the possibility of an iCandy to DH as DD won't be walking by the time the next one turns up but he cringed at the price (even the ones on Ebay) so we're still nowhere on this one...

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 02/02/2010 17:01

Myfirstbump - my tummy has started doing the quivery thing too, but annoyingly stops everytime I tell DH to look! - Brightred - the squiggles, pokes and prods I've been feeling have been all over the place, but mainly concentrated at the front around the belly button area. It seems to be most active first thing in the morning when I've just woken up, which makes it very hard to get out of bed - I love lying there feeling it boogie away in its own little world!

Cornish - glad you found the book useful! Before I was given it I had been looking through catalogues at all the stuff I thought I would need to get, but have now got a short and manageable list of essentials to get before the birth. Everything else can wait.

Carikube - so glad you just mentioned the HIP form - I had it on my list of things to ask the GP for last Friday, and just realised that I completely forgot, what with all the blood sugar testing. Will ring up and ask if they can do me one to go and collect!

mustbemadno3 · 02/02/2010 17:10

Hi just wondered about all these babies kicking as mine isn't!!! How often are you all feeling the kicks? I feel nothing all day apart from when I go to bed and concentrate hard I can feel little bumps. I know the baby is ok as I can feel a pushing sensation so know its there, but thats about it really. I'm starting to think their maybe something wrong? Or is this just a lazy baby!
I have asked m/w and she just said some baby's are quieter than others?

memorylapse · 02/02/2010 17:16

shiny new thread!

Im 27 weeks today..so officially in the third tri..baby has a very powerful kick on her now and nearly launches me from my chair when she kicks hard...I can tell which way round she is from the kicks..at the mo, she is breech as she is merrily booting me in the bladder. When I had my bump painted..she was squirming all over the place..my friend who was painting me kept remarking that it was difficult to get things symmetrical when my bump kept changing shape!
I have my first growth scan tomorrow..then 2 weekly from then..as long as baby doesnt get too big..I know that I have no longer than 11 weeks to go..that seems scary...I can now tell everyone that baby is due..the month after next

re pushchairs..I have my pliko..and will probably pick up a second hand techno xt..I had one for DD2 and it was fab..

all in all in the nearly 20 years since I first had DD1..Ive owned the grand total of:

29 pushchairs...but in my defence with each baby I didnt think I was having more so had to start from scratch..I have owned starting from DD in 1991
Mothercare carrycot and transporter
Waki weekender pushchair
mamas and papas pliko (v old fashioned!)
Mothercare 2 way pushchair
Silvercross Freeway

DS 1994
Silvercross coach built pram(with toddler seat)
Britax ;Pushchair
graco stadium duo tandem pushchair
An american buggy I was given which I dont know the name of
maclaren buggy

DS 2001
Mamas and Papas Pliko with carrycot
Mamas and Papas freestyle with carrycot
Graco mirage buggy
Mothercare umberella fold pushchair think it was called a Rumba
Mothercare tango buggy
Mothercare graco copy pushchair (bit like the aria)
Mothercare umberella fold buggy..blue one with a cat on it
DD2
Mamas and Papas MPX pram
Mamas and Papas aria
Chicco winter london stroller
Ingelsinia buggy
Chicco aria copy
Maclaren techno xt
maclaren quest mod in pink fleur
maclaren quest mod in scarlet bubbles
mothercare pink buggy
Mamas and papas pliko in d fined
mamas and papas pliko in boston check
mamas and papas peg perego in rose

my name is memorylapse..and Im a buggy addict

you know the worst thing...I didnt keep a single one of them...grrrrrr and the maclare ns are really expensive now

myfirstbump · 02/02/2010 17:17

Oops, also thanks for new thread.

Lots of space to stretch out (making up for our babies seeming lack of it).

Getting lots of movement to the left of my belly button, which kind of matches what they said at the last scan (baby's spine up the right hand side of the bump, head down) I wonder if the lower down movements are the baby playing with its face?

What's the name of the book again? I can't remember now and I wanted to get a copy. Ooh, and thanks for the reminder - I need to make a MW appt for next week to get my form! It's all go now isn't it?

sweetkitty · 02/02/2010 17:24

Oh ML I bow to your superior pram knowledge that's quite a collection

I have seen the MW twice, once at the 11 weeks booking in appt and once at 16 weeks for my triple blood test. I have an appt on Thursday with her. Maybe this time she will actually listen in for the heartbeat I'm don't like her that much probably as my last MW was so lovely. She was very anti-HB too.

Remember ladies once you are 25 weeks you can get your Health in Pregnancy form too, £90 to spend on prams fruit and veg

mustbemadno3 · 02/02/2010 17:29

sorry forgot to reply to schipo having 4d scan on Saturday so be 26+3. The lady said they start them at 24 weeks I think.
Only £100 opposed to the other quotes I have had which were around £175.

peakyispreggers I had the same problem before I went out. The dress I planned on wearing made me look even bigger than I actually am! So last minute found something suitable in my wardrobe plus it was dark at the party so that helped!

memorylapse you must be mad all those pushchairs etc!!! You could write a book on your experiences! I hope mine lasts for a few years....bloody should do how much it cost. But hey ho not had to much in nursery furniture to fork out on.

Thanks for the new thread I love reading everyones experiences!

sweetkitty · 02/02/2010 17:30

itshappenedagain - I kind of agree I think it would be fab when you have a little baby in a car seat but once they are about a year I can see it being a nightmare peach I think I will be sticking to a P&T the good thing about them is once the baby is older you can stick it in the front and have the spare seat in the back as optional. DD3 loved being in the cocoon at the back and would sleep for ages in it, it kind of rocks when you are pushing it too

suey2 · 02/02/2010 17:34

hello all,
weclome to newbies and thanks for the new thread.

I cannot believe how fast this thread moves!

I totally agree sweetkitty, i don't think any of those things makes a blind bit if difference: it made me laugh when my SIL had acupressure when she was 10 days overdue and the therapist confidently said 'i think your baby should come in the next few days, at most a week!' well, no shit sherlock.

Buggies: i was going to get an icandy peach blossom, but i think I'll stick to my bugaboo chameleon with a buggy board: dd is increasingly difficult about going into the buggy, and i can always stick DD2 in a sling if it comes to it.

littleowls · 02/02/2010 18:52

I've tried to read the thread but absoloutely nothing has gone in!

My movements are low down and haven't seemed as strong for the past three days (27+5). I can still feel them but it feels like the baby is kicking me in my bum or bladder and once in a while I get a few higher up kicks. Has anyone else felt this? Does it mean the baby is facing my back and is feet first? I am a little worried because I want good kicks! I am at the hospital tomorrow for a BP checkup so I will definitely be asking.

Very impressed with your pram list ML!

I too have thought about getting a hospital bag ready, so far I have a towel in it! I'm going to have a big holdall for me and a smaller one with baby stuff in. Thanks for the suggestion (was it sweetkitty?) of what to dress baby in to go home. Really wasn't sure what would be enough.

Good to see lots more new people joining x

Take care all, sorry if what I have written is totally random!

Hobnobfanatic · 02/02/2010 19:46

I think women must fall into the same two camps that men do with cars: the ignorant and the aficionadas. I had one pram/buggy thing for DD1 - and I couldn't tell you what it was! It was fine - did the job.

This time around a friend is giving me hers - and again I haven't a clue what it all. All I know is that it's beige! I couldn't tell what my Quinny from my Candy!

peakyispreggers · 02/02/2010 19:47

woop woop! an exciting new thread!
angel - lovely choice of pram, think it is a classic beauty!
MDM what was the book called again?
hollyoaks hope your dd is feeling a little better
bright red all his kicks seem to be just below my belly button, and mostly when im sitting or lying still. Had a few low down ones, which i could do without. suspect things will get a lot worse tho!
Really sore stomach these past few days, must be ligament stretch
Im going to be changing midwives soon when we move - hope this one will be nicer!

LolaAnn · 02/02/2010 20:22

myfirstbump my tummy quivers and moves from the outside too! its amazing - we were recently on holiday in Egypt and i was wearing my bikini and so hubby had lots of time to see it moving! Freaky, definately something is alive and kicking in there!!

brightredballoon I feel all of my kicks below my belly button still. Not sure which way this means the baby is moving or what but Im sure I feel it flipping over sometimes too

thanks Carikube will call her tomorrow.

mustbemadno3 I can feel Blondie kick like.. all the freaking time.. I dunnno every hour or so he seems to get busy in there like crazy.

suey2 how old will your DD1 be when this next one comes along? I'm trying to work out how the whole 2 children and buggy thing works.

Can someone please post the name of this fantastic book with the list in it?

kateyjane · 02/02/2010 20:48

Thank you for the new thread MDM.

Sorry my posts are a bit thin on the grond at the moment. Really struggling with feeling crap - still very itchy and unable to sleep. Work is very full on at the moment, can't wait for half term!

Midwife rang today having made me an app for the 15th to discuss my blood results. Wasn't supposed to see her again until March, so not sure what that means?

Hollyoaks - hope your DD is feeling better. There are some nasty bugs around at the moment.

Memorylapse - I'm amazed Showed my DH your pram list (which makes mine pale into insignificance!) Might be able to convince him that I'm not that bad now! Out of interest which one was your all time favourite?

Forces - Hope you are doing ok, sorry you're not well.

Angel - Hope you're ok, so sorry about your dog

Wibblela - Are you ok? Haven't heard from you in a while.

I totally agree with those who don't enjoy pregnancy. Thank goodness it's all forgotten the moment you are handed your beautiful baby.

Sorry if I've missed anyone - my brain is not very good at the moment!!

Take care

memorylapse · 02/02/2010 21:15

kateyjane...I think my fave buggy was the mamas and papas peg perego pliko lite in rose..it was unusual as only available abroad...so was always being asked where I got it from
