So here's the continuation of the thread previously known as Due May 2010: Where we get a 'bloom' just in time for the christmas mayhem???
Let's see if this one lasts up until the first birth... Knowing how chatty we can be, I doubt it!

Hi everyone

A bit more time to post today

Pagen I am a Group Strep B carrier and was told ABs during pregnancy would be no use either. I had ABS during labour with DD and she was fine, I didnt have them with DS as it was a crash section but he was cut during the op and did have early onset septacemia which required 2 wks in SCBU on very strong ABs to get him better. It was a horrible experience and he was very ill, they said it was most likely to be from the Group Strep B so this time round I will be having ABs regardless.

ML good luck for your CTG today, hope you are ok. Funny you say about waters because I thought I was leaking yesterday but in fact I think mine was just discharge (sorry guys for TMI!) I remember last pregnancy discharge increased for me later in preganancy and I am now 34 + 2.

OMG 34 + 2, that doesn't seem possible it is just around the corner. I wont get my CS date until my 36wk appointment but I think i will ask for it as close to my 40wks as possible, having only 5 + wks left til term feels scary but having potentially 4wks left is even more scary!

regarding expressing I have never heard of this at all during pregnancy. I would be worried it might bring on pre term labour. Your milk is triggered by the delivery of the placenta and the hormones involved. Storing colustrum sounds ideal for you Forces with low blood sugar worries, I hope it helps but just to let you know when I was in SCBU with DS they told me to express colustrum by hand as I would lose it all in the pump - that gave me the impression there isn't a great deal of it?

Yorky great news on your HB then

Hope everyone is ok

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 22/03/2010 13:51

Memorylapse - good luck for your CTG today.

Carikube - sorry you're feeling a bit rubbish, hope you feel better soon.

Rachel - glad your appointment went OK and you're feeling a bit better about your DS's birth.

Sorry, don't have time to catch up on everyone's news, have just got back from work and need some lunch!

pigleychez · 22/03/2010 17:46

Hello all,

Will attempt to catch up with everyones news but we talk too quickly!

Survived the weekend OK thankfully. DD was very good with my parents which helped. We all took DD swimming and she was showing off the progress shes made in her underwater swimming lessons. Dad was impressed, Mum seemed so too but of course would never show it! Glad to get home though. DH enjoyed the stag do. The stag was relieved he got off lighty.
Bit that I dont think DH really missed me though. I got a peck on the cheek when he got in, he stayed up late last night and shrugged off when i tried for a cuddle in bed this morning. Oh well guess im not the most attractive looking right now.. the beached whale look doesnt do it for him!

Gils- Glad you enjoyed centre parcs despite lazy family.
Re- Mattress- If you cant one to fit then here does them made to measure.

Tomlin- Know what you mean about feeling heavy!

Yorky- Got my email from Mr Yorky... Did we decide a post by date?

Little owl- enjoy your last 5 days

Forces- Glad you got some bargins at the NCT sale. There is one here soon but its such a bun fight i dont really fancy it!

firstbump- yay on the new car

Pagen- Hope you got your relaxing day today!

Carikube- Hope DD's first day goes ok.

BRB- Iteresting you saying expressing bringing on labour. When i read up about GD I read about some people expressing before the birth. I mentioned it to DH and said wondered if it would be worthwhile or not even without the GD. Might be worth some more research into.

I went to Tesco today to do the weekly shop and noticed the difference in how much energy it takes now! I was soo tired!

Hope everyones aches and pains arent too bad.

AnAngelWithin · 22/03/2010 18:58

hi all. Hope you are all well. We will need another thread soon??

Pigley, yes i know what you mean, DH and I popped to a few shops today and now i feel drained!

ML Hope you got on ok

Carikube, hope you got some rest!

Yorky, fingers crossed for sorting you HB

Sweetkitty, hope you have had a better few days?

Struggling here. DS1 is being a total little toad lately with his behaviour and I just haven't got the energy to deal with him to be honest. Today I have really struggled walking and feel like everythings falling out, and I had a couple of incidents of shooting pains upwards and inwards. Really took my breath away and made my legs buckle and I dropped a cup and smashed it

pamelat · 22/03/2010 19:57

Anangelwithin, sorry you having a tough time. I am struggling with my DD too. I work part time and if I was at home each day, I dont think I would be coping. Shes 2 and seriously pushing boundaries (which is her right as a 2 year old ) but can feel that I am tearful/angry/frustrated with her.

I have also had stomach pains today, a bit like period pains and sudden shooting pains. At one point, it was very incomfortable for me to sit down at work due to what felt like nerve pains in my back. I dont remember having this with DD. However, the back pains scare me as they are a mild reminder of labour (DD was back to back). I really dont want this baby to be back to back.

Hope everyone else is ok. Good luck ML.

Den26 · 22/03/2010 21:59

Hi All, i'm selfishly dropping in to mark my place. Been trying to read everyones comments but i'm full of the cold and head is mince so just marking my space and i will return when i can retain more info, sorry!

at sex of baby theorys depending on how we are carrying, what the heartbeat sounds like etc!!!

Also much closer to buying a buggy - yeah!!! I really liked the sola but also mothercare has their own brand of travel system that we liked too, hopefully have a decision by end of the week!

Once again sorry for selfish post, i will be back after a good nights sleep. Hope alls well

cupcakefairy · 22/03/2010 22:20

Quick hello from me
Had our last NCT class today and was quite sad it was over, we've really loved it!

Am now being booted in the ribs a lot and Tomlin I've had that sharp cervix pain too. 32 weeks on Wednesday and getting a leeeetle concerned about labour.

Sorry for lack of personals but I have been reading We're moving saturday so everything is a bit manic here and I might be AWOL for a while! lots of love to all x

sweetkitty · 22/03/2010 22:50

Evening all just having my usual late night bowl of cereal, keeps me from waking up in the night hungry. Not much to report here, been upping the cocodamols the past few days, good for the pain but make me feel quite spaced out well not like I am a drug crazed zombie but I definitely know when I have taken them. Went to Toyrus yesterday to get DD1 a new bike, Disney Princess she is delighted with it, and bought a blanket, a new changing mat and some sleepsuits, from their My favourite things range, very blue with little cars on them.

We are getting the new car tomorrow I want a new Isofix car seat to go with it but they are so expensive and this is my last baby, am thinking of at least getting the base second hand.

Gils - glad you had a good hol, we love center parcs, I know some people hate it but the girls loved it

Tomlin - I think weird stabbing pains are just part and parcel of this wonderful pregnancy journey we are all going through I hope our moses basket is fine after being up the loft for a while too

kateyjane - thanks for your message, not that you don't sound like you are suffering too, you are right though I will forget all about these weeks of misery once he is here. DD1 has a parents evening at school tomorrow night so going to try to get to the bottom on her unhappiness, I'm the same though hate the thought of her at school without me

Forces - glad you got on well at the NCT sale. I have heard about expressing colostrum and freezing it, I was thinking if you kept up regularly using a pump would you get increasing amounts?

rachel - sounds like you had a really rough time of it last time, remember second births are a lot easier than firsts usually.

Yorky - you sound as worn out by the baby business as well, you know what once I finally hang up by nursing bras I will be all sad and think aww no more babies, maybe I will come and re-read this thread lol

myfirstbump - happy new car to you too, the day after we got a new car DD1 was born I am hoping not to repeat it this time though

pagen - I only get a few drops of colostrum if I squeeze not actively leaking don't think they ever had. One very funny thing about BFing is that I thought the milk came out one central hole in the nipple oh no you have jets up to about 8 all in different directions oh and to start with colostrum can be bright orange or yellow, quite alarming at first but soon turns to a more milky colour.

carikube - hope your DD got on well at nursery

brightred - it is scary isn't it getting close now, I am the same though loads of CM need to wear a Always plus pad (and in case I have a coughing fit )

pigley - glad your weekend went ok, DHs eh? they don't have a clue. There's no chance of relations here either between the SPD and DP feels ikcy once I have a moving tummy. I don't think he would even dare suggest it!

angel - sorry you are having a rough time with your DS, toddlers! I am v worried about DD3's reaction to this new baby, she is very jealous of me to the extent she goes mad if anyone else cuddles me, don't know how she will get on when she sees me BFing another baby.

ML - hope you got on ok, you don't get it easy do you?

Right enough from me off to bed now

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 22/03/2010 23:31

Evening everyone! Blimey, I haven't checked in for a couple of days and suddenly the thread's nearly full! We'll need to think up a name for the next one and post a link at the end of this to lead to it before this one gets all full up and we find ourselves homeless .

Thanks for all the comments about TENS machines. I think I will get one, they seem like something fun to fiddle around with and take your mind of things, if nothing else.

Squirt - how's the pulled muscle feeling? I hope you managed to rest up over the weekend.

MBM sorry you've had a miserable few days, it sounds like you've had a difficult time. Fingers crossed that things get better for the last few weeks.

Cupcake Hollyoaks and others, I think it's a lovely idea to stay on the one thread until all the babies have arrived.

ML what an exciting discovery about your local lingerie shop, you must be chuffed to bits. I love it when things like that happen!

Pagen - brilliant news about ditching the antibiotics and getting a good night's sleep, you sound really happy, and I don't blame you! I haven't had any leaking boobs yet either. Does anyone know when that usually starts, or is it one of those things that can start at any time and really varies from person to person? Hope you made it to the cinema. We went to see Green Zone last night. I really enjoyed it, and I think the LO did too, as it was wriggling all the way through (or maybe it just didn't like the noise!). I had pretty bizarre dreams all night afterwards though.

Pigley, sounds like you had a lovely weekend visiting your DPs.

Kateyjane, I'm really impressed with you putting on a birthday party for a group of 8 year old girls. That must have been exhausting. Hope you get a well-earned rest after that.

Forces your trip to the NCT sale sounds like a great success. I missed our local one on Saturday because my DS and her husband came to visit for the day, but we had such a lovely time, I wouldn't change it for anything! Anyone who's on the FB page will see my new profile pic, which is a picture of me and DS with our matching bumps!

Rachel you're right, the urbo video on the website is a bit like a car advert! I think that's why it appealed to DH! Although they keep telling me that it's been delayed, so if it takes much longer I might tell them to stick it, and get the sola instead, as they're pretty similar really. Hope you find your Quinny Buzz on e-bay. Might be worth checking the for sale boards on here too? I'm glad you managed to talk through your DS's birth and labour with the consultant, and that it has helped you make some decisions about what you would like to happen this time. Is it far to your hospital?

Yorky - great news about there being nothing in your history to prevent you having a home birth!

Pamelat, Angel and others with difficult toddlers to deal with, it sounds really stressful, I can't begin to imagine how hard it is, you have my sympathies.

Cupcake - exciting about the upcoming move! Take it easy and don't do any lifting. I've been getting booted in the ribs and diaphragm a lot the last few days. The LO seems to be building its strength up!

Went to Boots yesterday and bought lots of bits and pieces for the hospital bag. SK - was it you who had posted the list of things you bought last week? If so, I took it with me and found it really useful, thanks!

Better finish now, DH is making a point of trying to go to sleep in a very noisy way to make it clear that I'm being annoying typing away on the laptop in bed!

sweetkitty · 23/03/2010 07:31

I think I will create a new thread and call it "is this the thread we get to have the first baby?" because I think we will have a baby on a new thread?

I really enjoyed updating the list with all the new arrivals, kept me busy whilst being overdue and miserable.

Marquise - I really like the Sola now better than the Urbo, I love it in the Orchid colour as well, do you know the flavour yet? and the matching car seat is fab too.

I need to get back to the woman who said she might be selling her Vibe and see if she still is, if not will order one this week.

sweetkitty · 23/03/2010 07:34

here we go new thread

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 23/03/2010 07:42

SK - That's a good name for a new thread, go for it! This one has lasted us 7 weeks, so we'll almost certainly see the first baby on the next thread. I slightly prefer the sola to the urbo too, but the sola is about 2cms wider than an annoying narrow bit in our hall where the radiator sticks out, and I don't want to have to fold the pushchair down every time I take it in and out of the house, so we went for the urbo instead as it will fit (and it's about 1kg lighter, so marginally easier for public transport.). If the urbo is still out of stock by mid april, then I will cave in and swtich to the sola in the green colour, as we don't know which flavour we're having yet, and I love green anyway!

yay!! a new thread..I will pop over there in a mo..

yes I have a hind water leak..but scan shows baby has plenty of fluid, CTG was reassuring so in vgiew of the fact that im in clinic again tomorrow..they are not worried..they think I might be leaking and re sealing but said as bubs is engaged and Im 34 weeks, plus had steroids..they are not overly concerned..been asked to monitor her movements and my temp..Im wondering when I will get an induction date...
came home yesterday and had the sickness bug so am still in bed recovering at the mo and chasing up non paying clients!
