wintermadness oh a hotel would be bliss but dh just refuses to do it now...it means that we visit maybe twice a year at most and I think we've just got used to it! I can only hope as madam gets older that she sleeps better there, but then of course we'll have another who will probably be the same! I have pointed out that they could now change to a double in the spare room seeing as their 2 daughters never visit at the same time as they hate each other and even if they did, what's wrong with the room dd sleeps in?! Argh. I'm never going to win this one! Re the single beds, they were a treat earned after we got married. Prior to that we had seperate rooms. No joke. We moved in together after dating 6 months, got married after 3 years! gibbon unfortunately dh is the precious only son who was a "surprise" 3rd baby and as such is mummys special soldier lol.

violet what a fab gift! I'd be checking it all the time too! I'm so wracked with anxiety this time and I don't know why but I'd love to have the reassurance. Re the pains, I'd say stretching pains, I've had some aching, if I stand up quickly then it really pulls! Had some odd feelings higher up just under my ribcage but I guess it's everything moving into position now.

tsc my wind is also no longer trapped. Possibly alot to do with the fyboge/sprout combination of the last few days Argh at the thought of a party in my house. It's been bad enough tidying after 2 extra adults never mind a whole roomful intent of having a good time. Good luck!

I've had alot of paranoia this time too - emster like you going to a scan and being told the baby has died...I just want to feel some movement now to make me feel happier. This is not a nice bit at all but it's reassuring that we're all in the same boat.

Congrats on the good scan wss! brilliant news

We braved Ikea earlier and it was fine. Now have a plan of action: going to redo dd's room for her birthday in April so we can move the cotbed, changing unit/drawers and wardrobe into the nursery. She's dead excited about her new big girl room! V cute and no worried about taking "her" bed away.

Our NYE is sorted - going to mum and dad's and dd sleeping over. Snow is forecast so will be going out in hiking boots and fleece. Glam

stac14 · 28/12/2009 23:45

feel the exact same as you all, can't wait for the 6th to make sure bump is ok, i wasnt like this with ds but assumed it was because this baby took a long time to come to us. Good we can all share these feelings, i told doc as i can be anxious and dont want it to develope into panic attacks. Can't wait for movement to start.

wwsw i'm with you on the new year celebrations, we have been invited to a party but can't be bothered, need to be close to a bed lol. Hopefully your mil will change the beds for you or just push them together, maybe oh can talk his mum round. Thats lovely bout dd room bet shes chuffed

whatshesaid fab news bout scan, what age is dd?

tsc soz for being nosey but why won't they scan you at twelve weeks?
Found out yesterday dps friends are having a baby then today was told i'm going to be a great aunt my niece is five weeks wee soul is nervous as hell, i should tell her about mn xxx

WickedWitchSouthWest · 28/12/2009 23:52

stac I'm the same - this baby took alot of effort to concieve so every little thing worries me. In some ways it's better - with dd I was so blase about everything, I don't think it really sunk in what was happening and I ended up with pnd. Hopefully that won't be the case this time round but I've got it written on my notes (was undiagnosed last time and I suffered 16 months til it went) so I'll be watched lol.

Lovely news though Definitely get your niece on mn!

WhatSheSaid · 28/12/2009 23:56

stac dd is 2.2. How old is your niece? Is she due around the same time as you?

I think I've been more nervous too because it took 15 months to get pg this time, I was much more blase about dd.

Tsc they do the nuchal fold test between 11-13 weeks so I guess if you're not having that then there's no need for a scan at 12 wks if you had one at 9 weeks.

My sister had 3 of her 4 dcs while living in the Manchester area and I don't think she got 12 week scans either - maybe some health authorities don't offer them as standard?

WickedWitchSouthWest · 29/12/2009 00:17

We don't get a 12 week scan here either, I'm under North Somerset PCT and we get a dating scan at 8-12 weeks and if you want nuchal fold you have to go private and pay £100. I'd love to have another scan now, got about 6 weeks to wait til the 20 week scan (fark, that's coming round fast, isn't it?!) but hoping to hear the hb when I go and see the mw in a couple of weeks.

WinterMadness · 29/12/2009 07:23

Oh My God WWSW, you just made that sink in! 6 weeks till our 20 week scan. And that's half way. Oh My God! [has minor panic attack]

Well I never, ever thought I'd say this but I stopped bleeding last night for the first time in about two weeks and it feels really weird. I should be pleased (maybe it's all gone now?) but I just feel weird about it. Very odd feeling.

I'm just going to go and have a cup of tea and stress about where I'm going to put this baby in 26 weeks time.....

stac14 · 29/12/2009 11:04

hey wwsw i had pnd with ds which i thinks another reason i am worried this time. I have polycystic ovary syndrome so we had kind of assumed it wouldnt happen after all the tablets and an arsey consultant, so when it did it was a shock to say the least. So like you i am keeping docs and mw informed so they can help if needed. I was defo more blasé with ds but then i think thats cos i didnt know what to expect, wish i had mn then.
wss my niece is nearly twenty, she has wanted a baby for about two years, but started her hairdressing course and forgot about it. They got engaged on xmas day, she has irregular periods so didn't think she was pregnant, then did a test yesterday she is about five weeks so think she is due about the end of august. Defo need to get her online
tsc i had an eight week scan but was told i was to have a twelve week too, may just be cause it was so busy that day and i have to go back for booking in. The nuchal fold scan is offered here at 20weeks. Also at some private places they offer a well being scan so that may be an option if you don't want to go for testing. I am of the same opinion of you in the respect that i dont want to know if theres any problems but dp would rather know.
winter fab news about bleeding, it must be strange when you've had it for so long. How you feeling?

I'm a couple of weeks behind you guys so my twenty week scan isnt until nine weeks time lol hopefully when i get my scan they change my date xxx oops massive post xxx

violetbubbles · 29/12/2009 11:11

Hey everyone!
Thanks for the reassurance stac14,Gibbon,WWSW - it must be stretching pains. It hasn't gotten any worse so I'm feeling less anxious about it today. I'm having the full day off today - no visitors, no lunches, no dinners...just me and DH slobbing out on the couch with DVDs - bliss!

So pleased that everything went well for you Whatshesaid and good news that you've finally stopped bleeding Winter. Oh, and welcome back viksam .

stac14 · 29/12/2009 12:47

winter typical, think its gone it comes back, hope your ok.
I'm loving this lazy day stuff, ds is busy in his room but i now feel i should be doing stuff so think i should go do housework, or maybe i will grab a magazine and have a nice long soak mmm tempting lol xx

Chulita · 29/12/2009 13:56

stac I'm only 10+2 so I won't be 12 weeks for ages...sometimes I think I'd be better off on the August thread than clinging onto the end of this one (not that I post much, by the time I've caught up I can't be arsed to write!)

Happy belated Christmas to all, we're all snotty and headachey so computer screens are not my best friend at the moment. Why oh why can't we take Night Nurse when we're preggers?!

Emster30 · 29/12/2009 14:51

Glad it's not just me who feels a bit left behind date-wise on this thread! I'm due on the 18th so not even very near the end of the month. Am 11+2 today.

Just been out to the library in the pissing rain and am now soggy, but am eating Haribo. Yum.

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 29/12/2009 15:17

I think once we get past our first trimester and 20 week scans we won't notice the few weeks difference between us, till it comes to DD's maybe, then I will be in panic mode and wishing I had more time!

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 29/12/2009 15:19

Meant to add hope you feel better soon Chulita

stac14 · 29/12/2009 15:34

emster I am 11+3 due the 17th, hope when I get my scan they tell me i'm further on lol

chulita hope your better soon hun, I feel like I have known I was pg for ages found out really early.

gibbons your right its just weird to hear of people thinking about thir 20 week scan while some of us are still waiting for our 12 week one lol but i agree I want it to go quick but then when it comes to the dd fear and panic will take over lol

xxx

WickedWitchSouthWest · 29/12/2009 15:35

oops sorry winter! I had a minor panic about it too but we are way more organised this time I've just downloaded the Ikea room planner to try and work out how dd's room and the nursery will work. Exciting! Dh won't actually do anything about the rooms til mid-March but I like to know what's going on, especially with the no-brain I'm suffering from at the mo!

violet I'm having a day off too, lovely isn't it? Glad the pains have stopped but mine come and go.

winter lol @ the bleeding giving you a reprieve! Hope it really does go soon....

tsc haven't thought about a holiday. It's my 30th in May so we may well go to Center Parcs for a week then and just do some day trips if the weather is good in the summer, such is the good fortune of living in the west country!

chulita hope you feel better soon....I'm suffering with my sinuses and paracetamol just aint cutting it! Really don't want anti-b's tho.

emster oooo haribo!

Right being as it's half 3 and I'm still in my jammies, I'd better go and have a hot shower and try and steam out my sinuses a bit. Supposed to be doing turkey curry....

TishTosh21 · 29/12/2009 15:39

tsc we are exactly the same, i will be 12 weeks tomorrow aswell ive got my scan on 5th Jan so i wouldnt be surprised if they dated me different to what i thought. Im pretty sure im right though ive been over and over all the dates in my head and counted down to 12 weeks on the calendar. I cant believe it will be 12 weeks tomorrow its come round so quickly!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 29/12/2009 15:42

tish I have no idea how they work out the dates! I put myself at 6th july, scan said 3rd and mw for reasons known only to herself plucked 28 June out of the air! We're telling ppl baby is due first week in July and leaving it at that

WinterMadness · 29/12/2009 15:45

WWSW it's my 30th a week before bubba's due. Guess I won't be doing much for that then, lol!

randomama · 29/12/2009 16:20

hey all,
merry xmas. it's been a weird one here. on the one hand lovely, had 4 guests to stay from 22nd-27th. we'd only met one of them before, the rest were her friends from uni in chicago. It was so wonderful, they were so nice and the ultimate helpful fun xmas guests. IT could so have gone the other way!
On the other hand, just as they left I very suddenly got even sicker - had been poorly since 21st - and ended up being admitted to hospital with suspected meningitis. IT's fine. I just have a really bad ear infection that had inflamed everything inside so was presenting in similar way to meningitis. Am on antibiotics though but they're safe for baby and I'm out of hospital and getting looked after very well by DP
was a bit scared at first though. lying in hospital all wired up just feeling really worried about this baby. so so so relieved it's all ok.
hope everyone's doing well and feeling good today x
