Hiya!
I'm at mums today so able to get online - not sure what we are going to do with our laptop and its worm!!!

Anyway- Happy New Year to everyone!!!

We had our scan on 31st and it was AMAZING!!! Little one was just wakening up so was having a good stretch, putting hands in air and arching back!!! We got a couple of good pics but nothing compared to seeing it move on screen! I'm in love!!!

Off to have a wee read of posts and catch up with you all!

beckyg123 · 02/01/2010 11:07

Chulita and spirael yes! sickness and nausea definately on its way out! episodes are (touch wood) definately becoming less often and i've had a few days when haven't even thought about it!

stac i thought i was imagining things coz i want to feel things! When i lie on back at night can def feel little fluttery tickles- seem to be mostly slightly to the right? As this is first i have no idea what should/shouldn't feel like!

Is someone able to update my stats please? Scan put date back a little to the 11th july and also other info - 28, Glasgow and #1.
Thanks to anyone able to do this!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 02/01/2010 11:11

stac I had some fluttering yesterday evening after all my moaning! Then spent ages googling to see where my uterus should be to see if it was actually fluttering or just wind . It was very low diagonally about an inch below my belly button which according to my googling would be about right. Trying not to get over excited but it would be wonderful if that was first movement! Hope the scan goes well on Wednesday

becky fab news about the scan! Re the worm on your laptop if you can still get online with it, google spybot search and destroy or spyware. It's free software and it might be able to get rid of it. We just managed to get rid of a horrible worm on my sister's notebook that she got off a crappy facebook app.

Bored today, quite glad it's all back to normal on Monday!

beckyg123 · 02/01/2010 11:12

WWSW if i remember a few weeks ago when i was feeling that was your words to me were... "positive thinking please!" Come on you- chin up and happy thoughts!

becky advice duly noted - thanks I think I've had too much time to wallow think this past few days which is always dangerous...

beckyg123 · 02/01/2010 11:18

wwsw thanks, but think i might need to take it to someone who knows about these things, it pops up as soon as we switch on and won't let us do anything! My last post was referring to yesterday- hope your feeling better today

WickedWitchSouthWest · 02/01/2010 11:21

sounds like a nasty one, best get it done by the pros I live with one but it's dead hard to do these things remotely lol

stac14 · 02/01/2010 11:32

maybe it was movement then same as you though wwsw dont want to get hopes up, just wish wednesday would come quicker, i tend to over read things and worry too much.
becky scans sounds fab, was that your first one? Your at the princess royal aren't you? Thats mine too.

Have we decided to make a new thread or to move over to the other july thread? Xx

Firerise · 02/01/2010 11:50

Happy New Year ladies! Managed to stay awake until midnight for NYE but have been hibernating ever since!

I have eventually got my 12 week scan appointment through and its not until the 11th Jan and I am being very impatient (despite having 4 scans already and seeing the heartbeat) but know what a few of you were talking about - just want to see all is well to put my mind at rest.

I haven't got 2 in there despite twins running in the family...the other thng I have discovered runs in the family is all the women have been sick until the day they have given birth! SOmething to look forward to...

Are any of you looking at doing any antenatal excercise classes or anything? As this is my first one I'm thinking it might help to meet other people in the same boat as I'm feeling a bit isolated and overwhelmed at the mo (probably my crazed hormones at work!)

Chulita · 02/01/2010 12:07

firerise - scan day snap I'm soooo impatient for mine, haven't had a scan yet so of course have all the 'what if I'm not actually pregnant and have just had 9 weeks of food poisoning?' feeling.
I bought the 'yummy mummy' DVD to do, did it twice and then came down with vomiting so I'm waiting til that clears and then I'll start up again. I think a class would be a really good idea just to know we're not the only pregnant people in the village...
big for all of you who are feeling your little bablet scurrying around in there!

darydork · 02/01/2010 12:53

thanks to everyone for their good wish posts i appreciate them, im very sad but feeling much more positive now..

My main reason for posting again is to say im very sorry if my post last week has alarmed or raised unnessesary worry in any of you before youve had your scans, in hindsight i realise that it was insensitive of me to go into the details of what happened, just felt i needed to say that. again i wish you all a very happy & healthy 6mths ahead x

My vote is invite them over here. The other thread seems much quieter - they might like it like that and feel we're invading their space if we bombard it? Just a thought.

I'm the same tsc Although I didn't do much in the way of antenatal (only aquanatal which I enjoyed cos I got time of work but the actual class was rubbish) but met some lovely people at Surestart when I started going when ds was 7 weeks. Still keep in touch with 3, one of whom has become a really good friend. Would defo recommend any new mamas to join Surestart if there's one handy.

I am also looking forard to normality resuming nxt week. It's unfortunate that work comes hand in hand with routine, but it's only 3 days a week so I shouldn't complain! Tree's coming down tomorrow. I've just decided.

And I thought I was going mad but I swear I can feel my baby move too! Very infrequently, but feels the same as first time round - really light, like a bubble popping inside my tummy. I'm 14 weeks today, felt ds move at 17 weeks, hubby could feel him from 18 weeks. They do say you feel the second sooner so I reckon it might just be

liahgenispreggerswithnumber6 · 02/01/2010 14:40

Hi Ladies,

just popping over to wish you all

happy new year

I don't know everyone but lots of faces here form ttc threads and you were all so nice to me.

We are all having babies this year. How exctiting is that?

Just wanted to wish you all uneventful pregnancies and fantastic positive labours, (will keep checking in for labour stories nearer the time)

stac14 · 02/01/2010 15:07

Hey winter I was thinking the same especially as one of the july threads was made especially as ours was moving too quickly lol. Should we just build another thread since we're reaching 1000 then send invites to the July threads??

tsc it says on the baby centre website that from 12 weeks onwards nausea can change to heartburn, I'm not sure whats worse lol I have been addicted to cocktail sticks with cheese, pickles and pineapple mmmm

Do you not feel the baby earlier in 2nd/3rd pregnancies? As I say from my point of view its probs trapped wind and lots of wishful thinking

darydork you weren't being insensitive hun, think we are all worried anyway. Glad your feeling more positive and I wish you every happiness for the future

xxxx

ApuskiDusky · 02/01/2010 18:53

Hello all!

It's been almost 2 weeks since I posted - I've barely been on mumsnet until today.

It looks like the nausea has definitely passed now (somehow the grin doesn't quite go far enough to show how good that is!). It sounds terrible, but I have yet to get back my excitement about this pregnancy - I did have a glimmer when I saw the scan, but I am showing people the scan photo and receiving congratulations as we tell people, and I just feel a bit 'meh' about it. I know it's cos I have felt so awful for the last 2 and a bit months, but it's still not right.

And the prospect of us possibly needing to move house is starting to emerge - DH has been approached by an old colleague who wants to offer him a job a fair bit south of Bristol, and he reckons it could be his dream job. So I'm trying to work out how on earth my job situation might fit in with that, and it's not looking straightforward!

beckyg123 · 02/01/2010 19:07

stac this was 3rd scan as had 2 early ones as was bleeding. I can't believe the difference in just a few weeks! the first at approx 6 weeks was like a flickery grain of rice, the 2nd a week later was like a glo bug. This one was a proper wee baby! Have felt very well looked after by princess royal so hopefully thats a good sign for july!

Oh also I remember saying we didn't get 20 week scan in glasgow but apparently that changed in september and we will all be offered one!

Question about weight... Met my midwife on thurday too, she seemed lovely but was quite abrupt about my weight! I am borderline between overweight and obese! So she told me I cannot afford to but on any weight at all!!! I asked how i was supposed to achieve this given the fact i'm 3 months pregnant and i thought all women gained weight at this time. She was not too helpful and just said eat very healthily and do lots of exercise! Anyone else got this problem?

I did tell her i had worked really hard to get out of obese before TTC and have lost over 2.5 stone- she just said "oh, thats a shame!"

Chulita · 02/01/2010 19:27

becky - my friend was in the same situation when she was pg with her DD2. She was told she couldn't gain any weight through the pregnancy and there was no way she could have a home birth. She did quite well on the healthy eating but obviously did put weight on. She was nagged her whole pregnancy about her weight and it drove her mad. Maybe try and ask the MW for some specific ideas rather than just 'eat healthily and exercise' - it's not always that easy! (Friend did have a home birth in the end by 'mistake' )

WinterMadness · 02/01/2010 19:30

Becky lol - your midwife sounds as subtle as my GP when she told me other day if I'd left a bigger age gap with my kids it might have been easier. Like I care what her opinion is anyway, it's a bit late for family planning advice isn't it!

I would just advise eat sensibly; i.e. not a bag of crisps for you then one for the baby ;) Everything in moderation. Yes, of course you will put on weight just try not to use the baby as an excuse. I put on over 3 stone with ds which was completely unnecessary for my shape and build. Determined to be more sensible this time. I found the bigger the bump the more 'excuse' I had to eat. Not this time, no way hose!!! You'll be fine don't worry.

Glad you're feeling better Apusky I'm sure you'll start feeling better about things once your not so worn out from the sickness

WickedWitchSouthWest · 02/01/2010 19:31

firerise eek at being sick all the way through! Hopefully that won't happen for you As for antenatal classes and groups I have to admit with dd I didn't really bother. Two of the girls on my team at work were also pregnant and we were all due within 3 weeks of each other (yeah, we were dead popular with management lol) so I had them, then my NHS classes where I met some brilliant people - still in contact with all 10 of them and I count 2 of them as best friends now I'm not a fan of NCT, sorry...a friend in Surrey (obviously) did it but was ostracised for her northern accent and generally found the experience pretty unfriendly and narrow minded. I do hope there are some nicer groups out there!I did a swimming group for preggos but it was a bit of a drive away so I only went twice. Ask your mw for a list of local groups, thats how I found out about the swimming group. Your leisure centre or gym probably runs stuff too. This time I'm doing my yoga dvd and running around after dd .

dary please don't feel you have to apologise! Just take care of yourself and hopefully we'll see you pop up on another antenatal thread really soon x

Hey lia, me old bus buddy! happy new year to you too! Hope all is well with you

winter and stac agree, who was it who also uses that thread [baby brain]? can that lovely mummy to be possibly invite the group to a new thread which we are rapidly approaching? We also need a name but don't look at me, I'm bloody useless Like tsc's option though!

stac I was pretty much in denial with dd so didn't really feel anything until she belted me one at 23 weeks whereas this time I'm analysing every little bubble but just eaten a Twirl and having a little flutter right now. Same time as last night, too.

Hiya apuski [waves] oo at the job change. How far south of Bristol? Tis more my neck of the woods, we're west of Bristol towards the coast. Plenty of good ciderrr round 'ere

becky evil midwife! lol. It's not like you can go on a diet and I seem to remember last time round not being weighed after the booking in, so don't worry about it, just worry about keeping babba and you fed and watered Good news about the 20 wk scan though.

WickedWitchSouthWest · 02/01/2010 19:34

oh forgot, I found a genius way of getting veg into myself and dd - SOUP!! I basically cleared out teh fridge, chucked in some turkey and ta daaa! Amazing soup. I'll be having my third bowl of it for tea, impressive since I only finished it at 4pm

ApuskiDusky · 02/01/2010 19:41

Hey, WWSW, good to see you - the job would likely be round about Bridgwater. It sounds like some villages around Cheddar are nice with good schools, though I'm not sure how much of a 'village' person I am. And getting access to go along the M4 from there isn't straightforward with the M5/M4 and M32 traffic jams.

Back to bumps - I am feeling occasional 'movements' and then about 5 seconds later it turns into wind, so nothing here yet!

Chulita · 02/01/2010 19:54

wwsw I've been wanting a Twirl all day and haven't got any chocolate in the house (apart from a chocolate tart I made yesterday but I've eaten far too much of that already)
I've found an aqua class but what to do with DD while I do that? Grr! T'was easier last time round
MW commented on the time gap between my 2 as well...DD's 13 months, not as if I'm cramming them in

Chulita · 02/01/2010 20:44

Just had a peek at the Jan thread and was reminded - I know it's massively early days but I've got a Birth Pool in a Box that I had all ready to go with DD - she ended up being a CS but I've still got it if anyone's thinking of a home water birth I'm looking to sell it at some point. I can't have a HB this time round so there's no point in having it. I'm going to post it at some point in the for sale topic but just thought I'd mention it here.
