I cant keep up with this thread theres so many new messages when i get home from work!

Thanks so much to everyone for the support on giving up smoking. Its getting a tiny bit easier every day. Its fine when im at work its when i come home that its harder cos thats when i associate smoking with relaxing and DP is still smoking so he smells when he comes in from having one.

I CAN DO IT!

hope i dont put on too much weight though..

WestYorkshireGirl · 26/11/2009 21:47

Hi everyone

I am due 22 July with my first and just got my head around it all. Not a lot of symptoms other than the sore boobs (when do you go and get new bras then?), and feeling peckish, but nothing too extreme just yet. Keep waking up each morning wondering if today will be the day the sickness starts..... Doing quite well on fruit and veg and wholegrain, but don't know how long will last!

randomama · 26/11/2009 22:07

Welcome Emmamme and WYG - have added you to the stats. Feel free to add your ages, locations etc.

I have drank 2 litres of fresh clementine juice in 2 days wtf? Also, have found out I've gone off bloody wine. anyone else had this? Last pg I could only manage 1 glass, then I would feel sick, handily. This time was hoping for the same perfect formula but can't even cope with a sip of it

Irishfairy · 26/11/2009 23:35

Yay! A new thread...

I just had my booking in app. with a really lovely midwife She calculated my due date as 4th July, DH is from the US so will be happy Have to call the hospital on Tuesday to book my scan so hope they can fit me in before I go away for Christmas otherwise will have to get private one.
I feel a quite excited and optimistic now that things seem to be happening!

Been feeling really dizzy for the past few days, even when I'm lying down... seems to have eased off a bit this evening thankfully.
How is everyone else feeling?

skihorse · 27/11/2009 06:34

I told my manager yesterday that I'm pregnant because I'm not coping so well in the mornings, I'm usually OK by 2pm. No problem at all, I can come and go as I please and can work from home. Result!

My weight is stable despite me eating more carbs in the last month than in the last year. I too am having cravings for fruit juice and fruit in general actually.

As for the booze, I've not had any yet so I've no idea. It's not a "holier than thou" omygodican'tdrink - I'm just not a drinker.

Well done to all the ex-smokers, it's easier and easier with every day isn't it? I'm already at the stage where I'm not thinking about it.

My ms seemed a little better yesterday then the nausea kicked in with a vengeance at around 7pm.

WYG Marky-sparkys do maternity bras at a fairly reasonable price.

I would say go and get measured, but if you are anything like I was last time you will need a new one every two weeks, so there is not a lot of point.

I would recommend buying nursing bras even for maternity wear though. That way the double up when baby does come along and are fun for DH/DP in the meantime (well, more fun than an ugly maternity bra anyway )

Gracie123 · 27/11/2009 07:04

p.s as I didn't get a copy of Emma's diary (cheap... NHS... grumble grumble) I am expecting Emmamme to provide me with her diary instead.

Spirael · 27/11/2009 08:59

Hi all! Long silence from me, sorry about that. I hope everyone is doing well.

My work PC died earlier in the week, so I've been busy stressing out recovering data for the last few days. As for checking MN at home, I've been crashing pretty much the moment I've been getting in from work! I sleep for 12 hours and still feel tired. I feel like I do nothing other than work, sleep and eat at the moment. Hopefully this won't continue the whole way through??

MS has kicked in for me, though not as badly as some others seem to be suffering with. Strangely I'm fine first thing in the morning, I'm used to not eating anything until I get to work and don't seem to be affected during that time. I've found it gets bad the hour or two before lunch and then again the hour or two before dinner, when I'm beginning to feel hungry. I've been trying to be good and just have one small ginger biscuit to keep me going, and so far it seems to be working ok.

I got a copy of Emma's Diary from my MW during my appointment on Monday. It was the Spring/Summer 2009 volume, so not that much out of date! Sure the diary part was a bit sickeningly sweet, but I've spotted a few discount and freeby vouchers in the book that might come in handy.

Are most people not seeing a MW then until 12 weeks? Mine asked me to come back in (approximately) two weeks after the initial booking in appointment, so I'm booked in for two weeks today. However the repeat visit might be because they didn't take any samples on that day? Apparently they want some FMU and some bloods. Though they've given me the smallest pot in the world to try and aim for, first thing in the morning.

I'm now booked in for a private scan on 17th Dec, at the health clinic in Xscape of all places, when I'll be 8-9 weeks. I'm excited already! There should be something to see by then, right? If everything's fine and we get some good pictures, I can then let my extended family know over the Christmas period, which should be quite exciting. I'm the first of my generation to reproduce.

WestYorkshireGirl, since I'm making the assumption you're in West Yorkshire... Where abouts are you based? I'm over in Leeds area.

Julezboo · 27/11/2009 10:23

Stepping a toe in! Got my + test about a week ago now. Didn't want to believe it at first...

It became reality yesterday, had an early scan due to me being on heparin injections after 7 previous mc's.

Please to say that everything is in the right place, pregnancy sac was perfect shape, yolk sac and fetal pole was there and we had a quick flash of bubs heartbeat. Only just 5 weeks though so couldnt get a clear shot, Next scan is Thurs 3rd Dec.

No idea when my due date is, a bit too scared to look - its around July 23rd though I think x

timefliesby · 27/11/2009 11:01

Can't believe some are seeing a midwife already. Obviously the service outside overstretched London is much better. When I told the doc I was pregnant he just looked at me. So (being my second) I said well don't you inform someone now and then I get summoned for an appointment? Didn't take my blood pressure, didn't do anything at all. So not at all sure when or who will be in touch. It's a new area from my first, clearly as overstretched as the last one.

timefliesby · 27/11/2009 11:04

P.S What is everyone doing about the swine flu jab - to get it or not? That is the question...

Gracie123 · 27/11/2009 12:14

Timeflies - midwife doesn't want to see me to take any samples/blood until 12 weeks either and I'm in cumbria.

She has referred me for an early scan at a special unit with a consultant, but she won't be seeing me again until we are definitely sure I can go ahead with the pregnancy IYSWIM. My sis didn't see her midwife until 16 weeks with 2nd and she lives in oxford.

Spirael · 27/11/2009 12:45

Hmm... Maybe they saw me so early and are seeing me again so soon because it's my first? Or it might be that they're being cautious because I miscarried in September. Though I don't get an early scan referral on the NHS, sadly!

I'm not planning on having the vaccination, timefliesby. But I'm lucky that I have no underlying conditions (that I know about!) and don't work or travel in an environment where I'm likely to pick swine flu up particularly easily.

So mostly I'm gambling that I won't get it, or if I get it then it won't be particularly bad. Personally I'd rather do things that way around, rather than gamble whether the vaccine is safe for an unborn baby. But in other situations it might be a lot safer to take the gamble with the vaccine than risk what might happen if you get swine flu!

I guess it's a case of picking the lesser of two evils.

CurlyCasper · 27/11/2009 13:00

Midwife - what's that? Apparently I'll see one for the very first time at 12 weeks. Thank goodness I'm having a private early scan!

skihorse · 27/11/2009 13:05

I've already seen the midwife - at approx 6+3. Simply because in this country homebirths are normal and so you choose your midwife asap.

another score for those liberal Netherlanders!

On a positive note, I read a very positive news story about someone's birth experiences here. Great care despite various nightmare complications. So hopefully that means the local system works...

Spirael I'm near Holmfirth. Good to see another WY Lass on here.

I am having an independent midwife and hopefully homebirth so may not bother to register with NHS as unlikely to want scans. Still feeling ok, although cat captured and partially ate a creature which has been left by back door this morning. Normally wouldn't have issue with this, but got a bit queasy looking at it and have left for DH to clear up !

beckyg123 · 27/11/2009 14:40

Hi Girls,

Well I?ve been lurking about reading this thread for a while now and think its time to say hello!
I?m due approx 6th July so just over 8 weeks now. I feel like I?m on an emotional rollercoaster so it?s been great reading all your stories and similar experiences. Not had the courage to post before now as so frightened of another MC.

I had a bleed almost 2 weeks ago and went to EPU for scan, they were very supportive as I was freaking out! Scan showed baby only 5 weeks when should have been 7, as I am certain of dates they were concerned so asked me to go back next week. Was a long week but baby developed loads in this time!!! The scan showed a few days behind our dates (not to worry) and was absolutely perfect!!! We could make out the head and body and heart beat was amazing! Bleeding has stopped and I feel so much more relaxed. EPU said that change of MC after scan like that is very low? so fingers very crossed they are right!

MS has well and truly kicked in and I feel so awful any time my tummy is even slightly empty!!! So, like many of you here, munching away on anything in sight!

Didn?t get this far in last pregnancy so this is all new to me now? can?t wait to hold my little bundle in my arms in july!

Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all!

P.s. love the name of the new thread! My bum is VERY burpy!!! Lol!

FactsAndFigures · 27/11/2009 15:04

Hi all, and welcome to newbies.

I've had a mega busy week this week, but I can now breath a sigh of relief as I'm on holiday next week, and I'm planning on sleeping, sleeping and more sleeping

I'm still managing to escape MS! My major problem is trapped wind anyone else suffering?

I've got my private NF scan booked for 22nd December, hopefully, if everything goes well, we'll be telling the parents over Christmas dinner

GibbonInARibbon · 27/11/2009 15:22

Welcome newbies! how wonderful becky, seeing that scan must have been a relief

I started a thread as some symptpoms seem AWOL last couple of days. Trying not to worry.

Hope WWSW is ok and Apuski, really pleased to hear meds seem to be helping with your awful sickness

CurlyCasper · 27/11/2009 15:44

gibbon I;m starting to wish I had some symptoms to lose! i feel normal I don't want sickness or anything, just some sort of sign that I am pregnancy. Otherwise I'll have to buy loads more pee sticks and do one everyday till bump starts to grow!

Chulita · 27/11/2009 16:00

Yep, trapped wind here too...that and bloating so far - lurvely
still don't feel pregnant at all though, just feel like I ate way too much, even though all I had for lunch was a sandwich
