omg! just tested and up popped 2 little lines right away! this is baby no 3 for me and a bit of a shock! happy shock though!

no idea what date of last period was but think i conceived around 24/25 Sept so must be due mid july.

second that's a very good point - just because it's there you don't have to use it. For me, I have family experience of Downs and I Just Don't Want It. Some people cope, I'm not wanting to. I entirely know that it's totally selfish and I also know that I'd be utterly devastated to make the decision, but it's mine to take and that's it.

But we have a large number of other potential problems due to genetic problems which may or may not be visible on a scan. For us, forewarned IS fore-armed with some of the things we could come across. My brother, for instance, nearly died at 2 weeks old because there were no scans when he was born - and a 20 week scan would have picked up the anomaly which nearly killed him and he could have been operated on at birth with a much better outcome. For me, it's not just about termination.

dairy I've got my scan on 23rd December so I'll be about 9+ weeks then.

carrots That's a good point, there are a gazillion things they don't test for. I will need to think about this.

I'm struggling with my own feelings as I am dead against termination at any point for virtually any reason (other than for something like Edwards' Syndrome). At the same time I'm completely pro-choice. Confused? I am.

Meaning, I really feel that at this early stage it's a "proper" baby with a soul. Therefore it's wrong to kill it. At the same time I'm relieved to live in a country which offers termination for many reasons including it being "the wrong time" and can't say I wouldn't take advantage of that. It's an absolute mind-fuck TBH

I just wish we could get past our tests and I could forget it all.

To stave off ms I have just had the biggest iced doughnut... and it worked. Just wanted to share that with you all.

Hi everyone, welcome to everyone who has arrived since I last posted!

Well, after 3 weeks of nausea, sickness and not being able to eat much, I have finally had to resort to medication . I went to the docs today and was prescribed prochlorperazine, which I think is stage 1 on the scale of hyperemesis medication. I feel bad taking it, I'm not at risk of hospitalisation because I am able to keep myself hydrated, but I've already lost half a stone and I started this pregnancy quite underweight anyway, and it was that that prompted the doc to recommend it. Apart from me feeling really crap, that is! And I've been signed off work for a week to give it a chance to have an impact - not too popular at work really.

So hopefully it will start to help soon, and I can start to emerge from this fog that I've been in - which is why I've not been posting, if I read about pregnancy it can make me feel more sick bizarrely!

Hope everyone else is doing well and hanging in there.

Today at lunchtime, I ate a ruddy great big pie with mash, peas and gravy. That staved off a sickness so bad that I thought I would have to get out of bed at 4am to vom. MS is DISMAL. Craving potato waffles for tea

How weird Betty, I wanted waffles last week and I had not eaten one in yonks, must be 15 years. Now have 2 huge boxes in the freezer and I have gone off them again. The nausea means I am eating dreadfully as a veggie who is usually pretty healthy I am now eating like a student with a carb fetish.

Also to answer someones question earlier, I am having my early scan on the NHS (can't afford to pay for anything!!) but it's due to my pregnancy being considered 'high risk'. If it is ectopic they have to surgically remove it before it ruptures my fallopian tubes and kills me personally I think the doctor is being a little dramatic, but I'm going along with it because I like the idea of an early scan

mousemole - the past few days I've felt really uncomfortable in my bra. It's totally cutting into my ribs! . My jeans are ok in the morning but by about 2pm they need to be swapped for my jammy bottoms! .

Violet, yep - bra feeling really tight round my ribcage and norks spilling out. Not a good look. Need to dig out the boulderholders maternity bras. I cant face maternity clothes yet so my tracky bums have become my new best friends
