Hi all, just trying to catch up a little bit!

Love to everyone who's feeling down.

Jael - much sympathy to you, it must be frustrating and upsetting, but hang on in there.

Ses - good luck for tomorrow. This is easy for me to say as mine is over and done with and i have an edith to prove it, but try to relax and enjoy the experience. If your planned cs is anything at all like mine it'll be amazing!

Lots of lovely labourness to everyone waiting!!

This new parenthood lark is suiting me, dh and edith well. Edith has really settled, sleeping well, feeding well, almost back up to her birth weight. We're looking forward to her first baby massage later to help her dry skin. dh has even been out and bought edith a new car/bus, we finally found a bargain vw touran.

must go, got a dirty nappy to change, happy weekend/labours/cs's/new babies to you all!!

Ses how exciting. You'll be a mummy tomorrow

I've had these sharp stapping pains in my pelvis for the last few days and today it's almost non-stop. The only way not to get them is by standing. It's both v. annoying and painful. I keep getting these sharp stabbing pains in my pubic bone or just above and in my bum, especially when sitting. So much so I'm constantly jumping up, saying ouch. Well actually, I've given up on sitting and have spent quite a while standing up now . In a way it feels a bit like trapped wind. My mum keeps saying that it's labour, but it's not, because I don't have any tightenings. I think it's baby wriggling it's head or something. Anyway, whatever it is, it's very uncomfortable and I don't know what to do with myself today.

LoobyLou36 · 08/05/2009 15:20

belgianchocs I love your profile pic on facebook

Belgianchocolates · 08/05/2009 15:21

looby nice to hear from you. Will have to look at your pics soon. Once I can bear sitting down for a while again

gert2a Lovely to hear from you. I'm happy that you're enjoying motherhood.

LoobyLou36 · 08/05/2009 15:45

pula do you get the fenugreek tablets from H&Barrett? how many should you take?

LoobyLou36 · 08/05/2009 15:47

any idea where I can get BF tops from at a reasonable price? we only have a small mothercare store in hereford.

want to be able to leave the house at some point and bf without flashing my norks!

minimenace · 08/05/2009 16:03

Fenugreek amazing stuff - you can either get the casules from H&B for around £8 or .... much better, buy a small bag of the fresh seeds from your local health food shop. they cost less than a quid per bag, I think mine was about 67p or something equally ridiculous.

Then you crush the seeds and make (about half a tspn) tea with them, they turn into jelly when you pour boiling water on them. then I used to strain off the jelly and drink the tea, it's not a great flavour but easily drinkable. The crushing is quite hard work so I used to do quite a lot in one go.

After you have had a few cups your sweat starts to smell sweet like maple, it's really strange. Anyway it does work and suddenly causes milk a plenty.

Momino · 08/05/2009 16:06

looby, gorgeous pics of you and Matilda (love that name!). try not to be down about formula, you're doing your best. See how bfeeding goes in the next few days; pula's right, it should increase as you decrease formula.

belgian, i had pains that I thought were trapped wind on the night labour started for me. you never know.... anyway, fingers crossed for you.

Momino · 08/05/2009 16:09

fenugreek... didn't know it could help milk supply, wow!

pulapula · 08/05/2009 16:10

looby - I think you should be able be able to get fenugreek from H&B. I think it might say on the side of the pot, but if not, the advice i was given (on mumsnet) was to start gradually, and if you don't feel any effect, then start increasing the dose (might have been 1 or 2 a day at first?). I would find that after a few days i would feel fuller and i could see there was more milk as my DS would come off with a milky chin, but as soon as I felt it had increased, i would stop taking it altogether as otherwise it would lead to engorgement. I did it a few times when i felt my supply was low (i always wanted to express a bottle for the 11pm feed so if i wasn't getting enough I would take some fenugreek).

minimenace · 08/05/2009 16:10

Looby have a look on ebay for bf tops, I just bought some on there recently - second hand, excellent condition for a bargain.

pulapula · 08/05/2009 16:14

Oh and fenugreek is amazing stuff. Once i took more than usual, and ended up feeling very full, so would express some off (which of course leads to more production) and ended up with a litre or more for my freezer!

minimenace · 08/05/2009 16:15

You're too right there pula I had too many cups of Fenugreek tea one day and got engorged I was pumping between feeds to clear the extra supply, I did manage to freeze it though as backup.

Just hope I can manage to pump as well this time too.

minimenace · 08/05/2009 16:16

LOL at the Cross post Pula !!

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 08/05/2009 16:17

Thanks for all good luck wishes

I bought some fenugreek a couple of weeks ago from Holland & Barrett as I have an underactive thyroid which can reduce milk supply. If I'm concerned I'm going to take 2 a day when I get home.

Belgian - hope pain goes or leads to something more positive.

Looby - great piccies

DH has been in and coming back later with my mum. Friend coming soon. It's her hen do tomorrow! Won't make that (never thought I would!) but at least should be ok to go to their wedding on 23rd!!

minimenace · 08/05/2009 16:24

Tummum · 08/05/2009 16:38

Monimo loving the thread title

Had planned to have custard for tea tonight, but strangely have gone off the idea

Looby lovely to hear from you and a big well done for persevering with the BF when many others would have given up.

Belgian sending labour vibes your way

Ses good luck for tomorrow... & Blotted how are you feeling?? It's so exciting !! More weekend babies please ladies !

MW has just been and G has put on 4oz already ! And he's only 6 days old. So I'm feeling all chuffed with myself that it was worth stuffing my nork into his mouth every time he cried... he's obviously got the hang of it. We also registered his birth today which was lovely. I felt all proud

Anyway, I'm off to put some fish fingers in the oven for the DC. They're healthy, honest.
