Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
detsy · 07/05/2009 22:38

Just painted my toe nails a lovely shade of coral apparently its the in colour?! Off to bed now, sleep tight all x

pulapula · 07/05/2009 22:43

detsy- the be all is OK for my current two although i don't carry much for my 4 year old DD so it might be a bit of a squeeze for a newborn and other LO still in nappies etc. Depends how many toys and spare clothes you need to carry- plenty of room for nappies, wipes, 2 cups/bottles on the outside, changing mat, mummy things, the odd bit of spare clothing/hats, small toys etc. When it arrived i didn't think it was very big, but i manage to cram a lot in!

Momino · 07/05/2009 23:30

hi all. can't believe we're almost done with this post.
don't think i can name check everyone either, sorry!
just wanted to say good luck to all those with show, water breaking, cramps - ie impending labour. and to all of those with water retention, piles, vericose veins, heartburn, incontinence (have i left anything out?), i hope you're feeling better.

MW here today, checked swelling in my left ankle and said it looked like oedema - there was no redness and wasn't too hot. Harper only lost 3oz of birth weight so happy about her feeding. she seemed to sleep all day so let's see if she sleeps at all tonight.

hope you're all sleeping ok.

Blottedcopybook · 07/05/2009 23:47

I'm back!

Good news - I am 1cm dilated and baby is 4/5ths engaged and the MW couldn't make her head pop out. I'm having regular contractions and things are definitely happening. Quite a change from Tuesday at the consultant when her head was totally free and labour seemed but a dream!

Bad news? I'm not effaced at all, contractions have been regular since around lunchtime with no increase in intensity or pain unless I'm doing something. By the time I got to labour ward (miles and miles and miles from the hospital entrance) I was in agony but they put me in the birthing pool and the pain settled down. Ho hum, MW gave me a sweep anyway so fingers crossed something happens tomorrow.

Jennster · 08/05/2009 05:36

Blotted Wow. I really hope your lo behaves and comes soon. You don't want to swap SPD for a long labour.

Belgian Either enjoy your meal tonight, or don't because you've had lo or you are in labour.

Been up for ages rearranging the freezer. I have a glut of carrots and celery in the fridge. I'm not sure what to do with them, as I haven't really much room left in the freezer. Carrot soup....

Momino · 08/05/2009 06:05

pula, thanks for updating the birth announce thread with Harper's name. I meant to do it but just had no chance.

my sister leaves today . the 10 days went by too quickly. i''m going to miss her (and her cleaning, reflexology, playing with dd1&2, help with harper cuddles, chat with coffee, etc.)

it's hard living far away from family, isn't it? i know there are a lot of us on this thread in the same situation. i hope you're all not missing your family too much during this time.

oh, now i want my mum! why do i feel so hormonal? have the happy post-birth hormones gone away already?

sorry for the me-post as i know so many of you are going through tougher times. just sad this morning which i'm sure will change when other dd's wake up in an hour.

hope rest of you are feeling better and good luck to those having labour twinges.

Momino · 08/05/2009 06:07

jennster, carrot cake?

i want carrot cake now that i mention it...

Momino · 08/05/2009 06:14

maybe we should mention cake-baking in the next thread title ...

SpangleMaker · 08/05/2009 07:42

Morning everyone

No time to mention everyone but sending those of you in early stages of labour & awaiting impending c-sections lots of baby vibes. Jael big hugs to you - you've had the worst time of it. I hope you feel better soon.

detsy showgirl - Happy due date! (and to Flippineck & Febes)

Very annoyed last night... I woke up wanting the loo at 3am with DH and Harvey both sound asleep - that's not fair, it's like pregnancy + newborn together, bah! To be fair, lately most nights have been as good as can be hoped for (although I'm scared of jinxing it by saying that) - H tends to feed at roughly 11pm, 2am, 4.30am & 7am and settles back to sleep pretty quickly. I'm looking forward to when he can go a bit longer between feeds but I've accepted that with him being early the frequent feeding stage is going to last longer. Time to stock up on Touche Eclat!

Hope everyone has a good day. Lovely & sunny here

euromum · 08/05/2009 07:44

Good morning! Well I hope it is...

Was just thinking a new thread is going to be needed soon, and surely it'll have to something to do with cakes??

Momino hope you're ok with your sister gone, you're so right that it can be hard living away from family and I really miss mine too. Thinking of you today as she goes.

Oh dear now am about to cry because I want my mum too , bloody hormones! Think my very feverish dd will keep me occupied though, might have to drag ourselves to the doctor this morning. Hope everyone's day works out well, and sending labour vibes out to blotted, belgian and everyone else with labour-y aches and pains!

SpangleMaker · 08/05/2009 07:47

Frazz LOL at custard.. now the problem I would have is that I like my custard piping hot!

flippineck · 08/05/2009 08:32

LOL at all the custard talk!

Momino - it's hard when your family are far away isn't it? Hope your day isn't too bad, and have a hug if you like that kind of thing (if you don't, ignore it!). My mum cam to stay after DD was born (I only get to see her a few times a year) and we both cried when she left.

blotted - how exciting! Hope stuff happens soon, and to you too detsy!

Still no sign of anything here apart from BHs and period pain, not even a hint of a show (TMI alert - just buckets of discharge). febes - how are you?

emmabemmasmom · 08/05/2009 08:48

euro Sorry you are having even more house problems! I am sure it will all work out in the end, so try not to stress. Easier said than done I know. Hope it gets sorted soon, for your sake

Whey hey blotted you are on your way! Hope you have had some progress

momino ohhhhh I know how you feel and it sucks to put it plainly. You are so lucky to have had your sister come to visit. Leaving is always hard. You will be ok in a few days though. I miss my family a lot too. Been crying everytime I talk to my mom...no matter how old you are there are times where you just want your mom, so I know how you feel. It will pass...hang in there!

Well it looks like there is a hurricane brewing outside my front door, so I don't think we will be going anywhere today. DH booked me a pedicure this afternoon though and I am so so so excited. My feet are an embarassment now that I cannot reach them lol Will be nice to have some me time before baby comes.

Anyone else have fun, or not so fun, plans today?

chocolatebunnies · 08/05/2009 08:49

I WANT THIS BABY OUT NOW!!!!!!!!

I don't remember signing up to this, DH must've drugged me, I've changed my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been up most the night with those flamming knitting needle up the fanjo style pains, belly ache and my bum hurts

I started panicing about the birth and just how unprepared I am, I don't think I can do it, all the memories of Madi's birth have come floodin back and Im really doubting myself. I've actually got myself near to panic attack status worrying, I haven't had a panic attack for over a year now, things are not good down in Devon

God Im a wimp, a very tired, aching, hormonal wimp

Tummum · 08/05/2009 08:57

Morning all.

Blotted how exciting that things are moving... hope it gets going soon for you

Monimo hugs to you.... hormonal is normal - you've just had a baby and it must be v. tough being away from your family.

G had a fab night last night... he is feeding every 4 hours on the button which is definately cope-able with-able so I got 8 hours sleep. AND my ankles are reducing in size too so I am excited that I might start feeling human too. All I need now is for SPD pains to go. And the DH to go back to work because he is getting under my feet now !

Hope everyone has a nice day today.

Febes · 08/05/2009 09:05

Happy due date detsy and flippin Happy indeed

No signs of anything at all here apart from BH and period pains so much the same as you flipp I'm almost jealous of Detsy's glup.

momino I'm missing my mum and my sister now. Luckily mum arrives in 9 days wohoo!!! It will be ages till I see my sister though

frazzle I don't get the custard thing or at least I think I get it but what I am thinking is minging and I can't imagine how it could help so I'm trying to remove all thoughts from my head.

My friend from antenatal group (my first one) is coming with her DD soon so I'm making banana loaf as soon as I've finished this post. I thought banana bread was called for as I woke up so many times with cramp in my legs last night. DH worked all night and I normally sleep better without him there but last night I must have woken every hour for a pee or cramps . Friend and I are then taking DDs swimming as there is a brilliant class at the council pool called slash time or something. You just show up so its really good and only about 3.80 or something.

Hopefully DH will be awake this afternoon to entertain DD as I'll be knackered after the swim and wrestling dressing at the end.

Some fool stole DHs motorbike helmet and gloves from the crew room at work so he had to ride home with a rigging helmet and no gloves. some people are such knobs.

Jael I hope you are feeling a bit better soon it sounds like you've been through the wringer. You dp sounds like a honey and don't worry about baby he will love you and know you anyway. just get yourself better.

To everyone struggling with BF. I am internally great to have had my mum with me for DD first 2 weeks as she is a MW and BF guru and was so hopeful. She made the whole thing so much easier for me. She got up at night when my milk had come in and helped me latch DD as she was sliding off my massive slippery nipples!! I was nearly crying with frustration. Please get as much support as you can.

I better go as DD smells really bad and I have to bake my banana bread.

Febes · 08/05/2009 09:07

Opps splash time not slash

flippineck · 08/05/2009 09:15

febes - rofl at slash time!!! Have a lovely day.

chocbunnies - sorry to hear that you're worried about the birth. You've done brilliantly over the last few months, and the birth is one more thing that you CAN DO! Don't feel underprepared, get your lists out, check everything, talk to your mw if you think she'll help, or let off steam here. Hopefully you can get a bit of a rest today too.

Oh, and is it odd typing DH?!

We've got some friends coming round this afternoon, but I really couldn't be arsed to make cake so I bought some in M&S yesterday! I do need to tidy the house a bit before everyone arrives, I'm slow enough as it is but DD will insist on helping me too so really I ought to get started soon.

Jennster · 08/05/2009 09:24

Custard Can somebody please enlighten me? The mind boggles. Do you eat it in a certain way? Insert it somewhere?

Well the carpets are clean and baby still well put in belly. What's the next ploy? Do I book a ticket for the Cinema this afternoon? Sod's Law is so unpredictable. It's almost double negativing me. Sod's Law if I book something I won't be able to do it, so I book something and Sod's Law I do. Do I not book it and try and out wit it?

ReeBee · 08/05/2009 09:31

jennster, I need to have my hair cut and coloured, which is about a 3 hour appt so am considering booking that for Mon or Tues (am due on Weds) - if sod's law happens then brill, I get a baby and if it doesn't I have good hair to be a new mum with!

PS Am not even thinking about custard.

ReeBee · 08/05/2009 09:33

oh, unless sod's law dictates that my waters break mid-foils..... eeek!

FiKelly · 08/05/2009 11:39

jennster re the custard convo last night... do you remember the ingestion induction method mentioned on one of our previous threads that we all agreed had to be invented by a male? well lets just say it was custard but with an added ingredient.... i'll say no more before i barf!

FiKelly · 08/05/2009 11:50

chocolatebunnies i still have a few wobbly moments about the upcoming birth. I think we all have at some stage. Fo me It's usually been when i'm totally shattered and my mind then goes into overdrive... you've had a lot going on recently and now there's not the wedding to distract you from the next arrival. How about making sure you get a bit of you time over the weekend or at the very worst some yummy munchies, a long relaxing soak in the bath & then maybe a session of natal hypnotherapy tonight while DD is asleep?!

ooo blotted sounds like things are getting going. fingers crossed it's not going to drag out though...

minimenace · 08/05/2009 12:23

DH has offered to treat me to a hot curry tonight - I don't normally eat them hot but he has said I can only have one if I eat a hot one lol

I normally love Chicken Tikka Dupiazza and thats not hot at all really.

hmmmm What shall I have ?

Glad to hear there are more babies about to put in an appearance, it's been a few days now - good luck all.

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 08/05/2009 12:43

Update on me is.... Nothing!
Still not seen a dr!!!
Aparrently he was here about 15 mins ago but got bleeped and went.

Thanks for all your good wishes - it really does help.

Good luck to everyone else and sneaky hugs to all those feeling poorly and fed up.
