Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
chocolatebunnies · 08/05/2009 12:45

Have just got back from last midwife appointment, the next time I see her should be when I go into labour.

Everything seems to be ok and I've been given the go ahead for homebirth.

Im measuring 35cm for 38 weeks and baby is laying with back sticking out the front to the right and is head down, not engaged yet but is resting on the brim???

Madi has gone to her gp's this afternoon so I can have some me time and pack my bag just in case.

Not got the motivation so eating some wedding cake to spur me on!

Still feeling pretty crappy

pulapula · 08/05/2009 12:48

chocbunnies- hope you feel better soon- you were so happy yesterday. Hope your LO gets into a comfortable position, and hope you can think some positive birth thoughts (cake should help ).

pulapula · 08/05/2009 12:49

ses- sorry you're still waiting to be seen. It must be frustrating, since as you say, if they don't decide to do the ELCS today, you will have to stay in over the weekend which isn't much fun .

Belgianchocolates · 08/05/2009 12:50

Afternoon everyone,

No baby here yet. I'll be having that hot curry tonight I think

Looks like I missed an interesting convo about custard with added ingredients. I think I'll stick to the more traditional application of said fluids tonight! Though DH told me to catch him early because he's planning on having a drink tonight.

My dad is on the way today to spend the weekend here and then both mum and dad will go back to Belgium. The way it's going without meeting lo

I saw the mw today too and asked her to sweep me, but she wouldn't do it until I was 40+7, grrr. Not fair. I've tried to sweep myself, but I just can't reach

blotted hopefully things will kick of more quickly soon.

I've tried the Sod's Law method too, but it doesn't seem to be working. Actually, there's 1 Sod's Law item left and that's going into labour on Monday, just as my mum and dad are about to leave!

Well, going to have some lunch now. If I've not name checked anyone then my apologies. I'll come back on here in a bit, but I'm starving at the mo!

FiKelly · 08/05/2009 12:55

I've just finished uploading the new bump photos i took this morning to facebook, MN and writing a quick blog post. DS had a lovely lie in this morning so i'm feeling relatively well rested for a change I got the washing machine soap dispenser cleaned and some more washing done too.

As he had a late breakfast i'm just off to make us some lunch now... will try to catch up properly later...

euromum · 08/05/2009 13:04

Not sure whether to thank Fi for the custard explanation...

DD sleeping soundly and kind of feel obliged to go and nap too, but just don't feel like it. Think I'll try reading a book, that usually sends me off to sleep anyway.

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 08/05/2009 13:10

Dr just been!!
Took all of 5 mins for him to say "You're not going home, you need a CS, it won't be before Monday"
No suprise but v v frustrating!!

pulapula · 08/05/2009 13:15

My DS is asleep too (but not soundly as he has developed a honky cough ) but waiting for DH to bring DD home from nursery and have some lunch.

Can't believe that on Monday i have my pre-op (3.30pm) and then ELCS next Tuesday. Been busy trying to keep on top of all the washing, cleaning and food shopping and so far it's going well. Feel quite ready really - DCs are booked into nursery next Tues-Fri so DH will be able to visit me and baby each day (and bring DD/DS each teatime), and keep on top of the household chores.

pulapula · 08/05/2009 13:19

Ses- sorry to hear you have to stay in and wait. Let's hope you get some visitors and have some books/mags to read or internet access (I know the hospital here has a TV/radio/internet portal above the bed you can pay for- hope you have something similar).

FiKelly · 08/05/2009 13:24

euromum ahem

ses what a nuisance being stuck in hospital for your last weekend before baby... i'm sure you'll make the best of it as best you can though... not long before you'll be holding you LO

llareggub · 08/05/2009 13:24

It is so hard to keep up with this thread now!

Good luck for Tuesday, pulapula and for Monday, ses. Make sure you get plenty of rest until then!

We've had some good news. The midwife called today and my little milk monster has regained his birth weight and has put on a whole 5oz since Tuesday! I am so happy after the stressful time we had with DS1. We've got the HV coming on Wednesday and I hope she will be as good as the midwife we saw this week.

Belgianchocolates · 08/05/2009 13:35

Ses Get your DH to bring in plenty of entertainment and relax during your stay in hospital. Hopefully the weekend will go quickly and it'll be monday soon. In the mean time: bum up in the air

I mentioned the custard to DH and now he's got it in his mind that he wants a BJ before the end of the day. I wish I hadn't mentioned it, I should have known I was asking for trouble. I've told him I want to stick to the more traditional man juice application

pula Your c/s is on tuesday. Gosh, that'll be here in no time. V. exciting!!!

Blottedcopybook · 08/05/2009 13:35

Ewwwwww at the custard thingy, you dirty girls!

I'm still here, still contracting away and still feeling like nothing's going to happen. I'm so effing frustrated that I might just let hubby stick it in me. Ugh.

Belgianchocolates · 08/05/2009 13:36

llare congrats on the feeding. Well done!

FiKelly · 08/05/2009 13:44

llare that's great news on DS regaining his birth weight.

Belgian I haven't mentioned the custard discussion to DH for exactly that reason!!

blotted if you're ready to go then maybe just maybe it'll help?!

flippineck · 08/05/2009 14:11

llaregub - well done to you both on the feeding!

ses - hope your weekend isn't too tedious. Demand all the trashy magazines and chocolate biscuits you want.

chocbunnies - your LO sounds as though it's almost exactly the same position as mine.

DD is asleep now so I can just catch up here before my friends arrive soon. We cleaned this morning, I was very enthusiastic with the hoovering to try to encourage things to happen but all it did was set off BHs, again. Think the period type pain feels slightly worse now though.

I am not mentioning the custard to DH tonight either! I might send him out for a curry though, to be followed by....

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 08/05/2009 14:29

Have you lot been sending vibes out to East Surrey?
They've just come back and said they'll do CS tomorrow!!
Yay and OMG!!!

pulapula · 08/05/2009 14:38

Wow Ses very exciting- good luck for tomorrow. I'm sure it will be fine. I have had a planned cs before and although i was nervous (i am a squeamish person and never had an op before) it was a wonderful experience.

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 08/05/2009 14:41

Thanks Pula
Am v excited and nervous all at once

pulapula · 08/05/2009 14:45

Ses- i can imagine!

Also, remember to get lots of help afterwards (my MW in hospital were great and i had my DH around for the first few weeks)- you shouldn't rush your recovery- if it hurts, don't do it.

Momino · 08/05/2009 14:49

ses, great news ! all best wishes to you.

chocobunnies, sorry you feel badly and a bit anxious. i think that since the wedding has passed, now there is more time to focus on the upcoming birth. do you have the hypno CD? i know with a little one already it's difficult to find time to relax, but if you can, it will help a bit.

belgian, funny about the self sweep . Hope baby cooperates soon with convenient timing.

custard... ugh! i'll never be able to think of custard in the same way again. ugh. blech [gagging emoticon].

all, thanks for the support, i know a lot of us are a bit down for one reason or another and it's good to know you're all here (grateful tears coming now - am i pathetic!).

sis has left on the train and I agree, emmabmom, that i'm so lucky that she was here. she took such good care of us without asking for anything. she's a very selfless person, one of a kind.

now I need another visitor but it will be the inlaws who aren't the same since i always feel that bit of distance from them (though they're very nice. my mom won't be able to come out as her knees are too bad to travel (she's 76). i'll have to coax another sister then.

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 08/05/2009 14:52

DH has got 2 weeks off work and my parents are only 10 mins away so hopefully will be ok. All the staff here in hospital have been v good too.

Can't believe after so many years of wanting to be a mum it's finally going to happen. (Also now I know it's a head pushing into my right hand side and feet tickling my fanjo, it'll be a strange relief for that to stop!!)

LoobyLou36 · 08/05/2009 15:06

Hi ladies

I've completely lost touch with this thread now.

Can't belive Matilda is 15 days old now...

We ended up back in hospital for 24hrs last week cos she'd lost 14% of her body weight.

She's started to put weight on now but I have had to top her up with formula on top of the BF

LoobyLou36 · 08/05/2009 15:09

Will now attempt to put some more pics on my profile.

You'll laugh when you see the pic of my "active labour"

pulapula · 08/05/2009 15:12

Looby- welcome back. I have just seen your photos of Matilda on facebook- they are lovely. It seems funny that they were worried about her losing 14% of her birthweight as she was obviously a good size so you'd think it wasn't as serious as for a little baby. I guess you can gradually reduce the formula and do more BF now if she is gaining weight- I find it funny that there is still a push to do formula feeding to help baby gain weight when the body will produce more milk if baby feeds more. If you are worried about milk supply, you could try fenugreek- i got it from a health food store and it really does work (don't take too much though as it can have quite dramatic results after a few days!).
