Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
detsy · 07/05/2009 20:59

jael oh hun, you poor thing, you have had the worst time ever. It will get better for you soon - wish there was something we could do to help more. Big hugs your way xx

Ses good luck girl sorry I missed the fact that you were in hosp - hope that bum is waggling in your ward

I've prob missed loads - struggling to keep up at mo so apols to those i've missed

detsy · 07/05/2009 21:03

daizy - tho I have had similar thoughts but then I thought well if she won't go down and gets upset she'll just have to stay up - she'd sleep when she was really shattered! I do think I'll miss her like crazy and will want to be home asap (all things being equal) but then I also now I will get zero rest if I come home as she will want to be with me, the trials and tribulations

FiKelly · 07/05/2009 21:06

detsy i was even more pleased with the sheilds when i saw them in reality... they look/feel so much better than any other ones i've seen. I'm hoping they'll be worth the money... but not much doubt they'll be better than my old ones!

daisy ds hasn't really thrown stuff about but has def been aaah how to describe... testing the boundaries of what's acceptable and what's not. Thinking it could be his age a little too as he's now 2yrs 10mnths?

sausagenmash · 07/05/2009 21:10

Just a quicky as ER is on....

Dandy - I'd give your mw a call re the swelling, she may just want to do a double check on your wee and bp...

Jael - omg, poor you. Hope things get better for you soon x

Choc - that was me re the knitting needle comparison - still getting them - owwww.. paracetamol helps a bit... and a snifter of wine...

Ses - naughty baby! But ooooh you're going to be a mummy VERY soon!!

Cote - don't know much about uric acid, although thought it was linked with gout? but have looked it up on wikipedia here if thats any help (hope that link worked) ... and I'd check with your docs before taking those antibiotics in your bag, just in case there could be any contra-indications with anything else that they give you...

Sorry, this is a quick one, but I'm too excited in seeing George Clooney in scrubs on ER.... fwwoooaorr... why haven't I ever worked with a yummy paediatrician like that....

detsy · 07/05/2009 21:11

Thanks Fi my nipple also got lost in my previous ones - think they are designed for elephants or something

My jujube be prepared bag arrived the other day - my goodness - it is ENORMOUS but totally gorgeous and a bit heavy - think it will be good for days out with the 2 sproglets but unsure if its a bit too big for general use maybe i need another smaller version to match......

Am so exhausted that I'm afraid I'm not going to name check everyone, but I am thinking of you all, especially jael but all with new babies, it really is such a rollercoaster - as well as all those waiting to go in to labour or maybe there already. I feel like I can feel everyone's frustration radiating off my computer . Or maybe I am just projecting my own feelings - after weeks of saying yes the renovations will be finished on schedule, our builder today acted all surprised when dh said we'd be moving back in next weekend as it'll be 'difficult' to get everything done by then (this includes basics like the kitchen being installed!). So demoralising, in the end it will cost us much more just so he can hire someone extra to get it done in a week, but we HAVE to be back there by the time baby arrives and I will be 38 weeks that weekend. Grrr

Oh dear I always end up whingeing . I really just wanted to pass on some sympathy for you all and to let you know I am following closely to hear how we're doing, even if my posting can't keep up. All my fingers and toes are crossed that it's another weekend of babies. And of settling into life with them without too many problems. It really impresses me actually to think just what exactly women cope with, bearing children and all these huges ups and downs of pregnancy, birth, newborns, the whole thing! We/you are all so amazing and we musn't forget it, especially when things feel awful .

pulapula · 07/05/2009 21:17

detsy I have a ju ju be prepared bag and a ju ju be all bag which i tend to use for most short trips out with my 2 DCs. Guess i may need to use the be prepared when i have all 3 DCs with me...

frazzledoldbag · 07/05/2009 21:19

I've got the Medela nipple shields too - mine are a Medium I think - bought them in Mothercare and they only had them in a Medium. They come with a little case too (aaaah) but haven't actually got them out and tried them on yet. Might do that later. I had (I think) Avent ones before and they were humungous (not that DD seemed bothered).
Have just had my credit card out and bought some Silverettes and other stuff from Breasfeeding Heaven. Spent £50 on breast pads and some 'More MIlk' stuff to help to make (obviously) More Milk!!!!! Anyone get the impression I'm worried about B/feeding again this time!
Had serious fanjo pains earlier (frazz yelping and clutching fanjo to DD's amazement) - someone else mentioned this earlier I think. Yow. I WANT A SHOW too though, feeling a bit left out
Am watching The Apprentice from last night. Be back later. x

oh and choc I've got a tens on hire and a voucher code for 10% off - will post the details later.

pulapula · 07/05/2009 21:22

dandy- i meant to send you a post earlier too but got distracted by my DCs. I had very swollen feet, toes, ankles, fingers etc last week (as you know we're due the same day) but this has now worn off. So it could just be the stage we're at, and as i wasn't getting blurred vision, headaches etc I didn't contact my MW. But there's no harm in being checked out by your MW- I had my BP and urine checked last Fri whilst at the hospital so i know everything is OK, so if you havent had yours checked in a while, it would be worth seeing your MW.

frazzledoldbag · 07/05/2009 21:27

detsy so yes, apparently the custard idea is meant to be more effective than the more traditional method of prostaglandin absorption - however, I must say it's done nothing for me since. The custard was nice though - Marks and Spencer extra creamy!!!!! Don't worry though, it's not usually on the menu chez Frazzle!

pulapula · 07/05/2009 21:35

Frazzled- and it really was extra creamy lol

frazzledoldbag · 07/05/2009 21:36

choc I got my tens machine online hire on 1stMrsF's recommendation from www.tens.co.uk and to get a 10% discount used the code TEN. It is costing me £22.49 (including the discount) to hire one of the better tens machines until the middle of June (my due date is middle of May so plenty of time). It arrived by post within 2 days of placing the order.

FiKelly · 07/05/2009 21:37

bleugh... yuk and double yuk re custard. I have never liked the stuff... i think for me it's a texture dislike thing ;)

frazzledoldbag · 07/05/2009 21:39

fi apparently yogurt is actually recommended but I've only got kids yogurts in the fridge and don't like them so custard was the next best thing! Didn't even go lumpy or curdle either blurggghhh.

daizydoo · 07/05/2009 21:41

Detsy - I'm so tired I misread your post and thought you'd lost your nipples in the past Think its time for bed now - good night all!

FiKelly · 07/05/2009 21:45

frazzle LOL yogurt not much better IMO... i'd maybe consider fromage frais but not that desperate to get things going just yet!

frazzledoldbag · 07/05/2009 21:50

fi well, really you don't need any kind of 'medium' (apparently) but I'd need a lot of vodka otherwise!!!!!!! Bet this particular self-induction method was championed by a bloke.........

FiKelly · 07/05/2009 22:09

I aggree! and I'm with you on needing the vodka too.. I have probs with all smooth texture stuff.. even the thought of creme caramel makes me want to barf!

flippineck · 07/05/2009 22:17

Evening!

Ses - what an awkward LO, hope you don't get too bored stuck there. Hope all goes smoothly, and hope to hear news soon!

jael - you're having a tough time right now, really hope things pick up soon. And I'm sure that Jacob will be fine with you, they know their mums.

cote - sorry to hear your news too, hope it doesn't get any worse.

minimenace - good news from your scan!

chocolatebunnies - welcome back! I got my TENS machine from www.babycaretens.com/ - very good service and competetive prices. I hired one the first time, but have actually bought one this time round as they gave me £20 off the purchase for being an existing customer.

blotted - sounds interesting !

I saw the mw this afternoon, all still fine for the home birth. No sweep today, but it is booked for a week tomorrowjust in case. Fingers crossed I won't get that far, but who knows. LO is still not engaged at all though, but at least is head down still.

FiKelly · 07/05/2009 22:18

right have to head off to bed.. getting v tired humphing the bump while keeping ds busy for the day. I hope to wake up to exciting announcements tomorrow night night xoxox

detsy · 07/05/2009 22:24

Smmoth gloopy snotty texture to swallow, hmmm no way jose at the mo. Frazz you are nuts you know

I've always said spunk would be far better if it were chilled rather than body temp... but i am with the girls on the ton of vodka required for str8 swallowing.

In fact TMI alert - we had some manual activity the other day and the sight, smell and qty of the magic baby making fluid made me barf - i blame hormones...

detsy · 07/05/2009 22:28

Dandy interesting about the night time shows - mine def freaked me out this morning!!!

Pula so is the be all a more sensible size but still ok for 2 on short hops??

Jennster · 07/05/2009 22:34

All my carpets are clean. I'm hobbling again though. Think perhaps I overdid it a bit. Dh didn't realise I was serious about hiring the cleaner, and was amazed when he came home from work. I didn't need 48 hours either. Might offer it to my neighbours tomorrow as it doesn't need to go back until Saturday afternoon.

detsy · 07/05/2009 22:37

we've almost run out of space again...
