OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Diege · 30/04/2009 10:44

Hello! Finally made it on - wfh today, so able to slow down a bit and BREATH!!
SORKY, many thanks for drugs and CD ; arrived yesterday, and have already styarted reading through booklet to get me in the right mind frame! Am encouraged by the refs to pain reduction (although 'pain-free' - can that be possible? lol at woman who says she even 'started to look forward to each contraction' ). Am very positive it will help though, and I'll then pass down to next on wagon list!
LB, as Kayz says re: swine flu' it's only those who have returned from Mexico that are 'at risk' and there are pretty tight controls to identify and test/put into quaranteen those groups. I'm not worried at all - usual media strategy of selling more papers through constructing 'moral panics' in my opinion!
SES, sounds like things are going really well - will you all be keeping in touch after your babies are born in NCT group? Think it's great to build up such a close netowrk, esp as it being your first baby
KK, am sure you having a temp contract doesn't effect your maternity rights - that would be discriminatory in terms of part-time/temp workers rights - am sure the legislation chanegd recently. Def worth checking out, if not on mumsnet then ring maternity alliance helpline/get your union involved. Will be v. satisfying to wipe that smile off your bosses face
GLASK, great news about Ruby
Hi TINKS! Last of my parcels arrived today, and need to wait until I get a few refunds back in my bank account before I start on the 'final trimester' spending plan .
Last day of teaching was yesterday - hooray!! - now am wfh for the next 2 weeks, although am going in next wed just to finish a few bits off and have my baby shower! Nothing like the promise of 'stuff' to get me back into work .
Midwife this afternoon when I need to see how I can get signed off consultant care so that I can give birth in the low risk midwife-led unit. Doula also booked, so feeling things are slotting into place.
Hope everyone is well - sorry I haven't mentioned everyone by name!

Kayzr · 30/04/2009 10:51

Yay for wfh Diege!!!

Just realised I am still feeling really broody!! I need a slap.

Diege · 30/04/2009 10:54

Having said that, aren't you planning on 4 anyway???

Kayzr · 30/04/2009 10:55

Yes hopefully, but DH wants to stop at 3.

Diege · 30/04/2009 10:57

Hmm, lots of time to work on him though..it's such early days!! Have a feeling you will convince him

Kayzr · 30/04/2009 10:59

Might do. Depends if DC3 is a girl, then I might just stop.

Kayzr · 30/04/2009 11:42

My god I have no life!! My new steam mop that I got myself as a birthday present arrived today. I am so excited!!!

Moosy · 30/04/2009 12:20

Still feeling crappy today, BUT........ I can eat chocolate again - woohooooooooooo!!
It's been making me feel really sick until today, now it's yummy again, I guess the vit b6 is doing something

LB, how is DS today? Is the sickness getting any better?

Kayz, is it any good? I might be a little bit if it is!

Glask and LB, well done on having super boobies!

Hello to everyone else

Had my booking in appointment yesterday, I should get a letter in about a week with a date for my first scan, they do them at 10-13 weeks now apparently so I shouldn't have to wait too long. They throw in a nuchal scan free too so am having that at the same time

Kayzr · 30/04/2009 12:21

I have just tried it and it is really good, it can even clean the sofa which is covered in pen and milk spilt by DS1!!

Moosy · 30/04/2009 12:25

Link please!

Is it a lakeland one?

Kayzr · 30/04/2009 12:28

Nope I saw it on tv shopping channels. Link. I have been wanting it since I saw in it December.

Diege · 30/04/2009 12:41

That does sound good KAYZ!!
Hi MOOS! Glad you're feeling a little better and can eat choc again!! It could well be the B6 kicking in - have heard wonderful things about it
Off to see midwife - speak later!

Kayzr · 30/04/2009 13:35

Arghhh I have WW tonight!!! Not looking forward to it. I didn't go last week as it was my birthday. I hope that I have lost something!!

Moosy · 30/04/2009 13:38

That does sound good Kayz, I might get one for the barn, we'll have acres of stone floors there and 3 DC living right beside a farm so no doubt it'll get more than a tad grubby!

Diege · 30/04/2009 14:39

Back from midwife. All well, baby measuring 33 weeks at 32 plus 4, blood pressure fine. I have 'severe aneamia' though...apparently I should have been contacted weeks ago when they got the results though, but as usual no one did . No wonder I have been feeling so tired and out of sorts! Also told midwife about doula . She started shaking her head as I was telling her and said 'oh diege, what have you gone and done that for' ...ended up feeling really deflated after being so buoyed up about the whole thing...Anyway, probbaly hormones, but did feel quite tearful walking back!
Off to get girls from school, back later . Could someone warm up a brownie for me in the wagon microwave while I'm out??

GYo · 30/04/2009 14:50

Hello

The cleaner sounds good Kayz

Glad you are back on the choc Moosy- think you need a special batch of medicinal wagonbrownies made for you...

Hi Diege, your work sounds busy, glad you are getting close to ML!

I'm quite excited, a friend has just lent me a batch of washable nappies to try... so I am going to give them a whirl. Been using the biodegradables but keen to try the washables... Just need to buy some liners

Ses- silent today, hope you are still "intact" and just busy!

Hi Gruff and Cosmo if you are lurking- hope all ok with your respective minis.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 30/04/2009 14:56

Diege - maybe I'm missing something but why would your MW not support you having a doula?! At the end of the day, it's what will help you and if you believe it will work for you and is right for you then ignore MW and go with it!

Kay - good luck with WW

Moos - yay for chocolate

Re swine flu, I think it's generally accepted that at some point in the coming years, there will be a 'flu pandemic. The DoH has v good plans in place and although they may not be fully needed with swine flu, it's good to practice!
I know in pharmacy, we have plans on how we will cope with demand whilst working with a depleted work force due to the fact that they will have the 'flu themselves.
I don't believe that we have any indication atm that swine flu is going to be a pandemic though and am not overly worried.

GYo · 30/04/2009 14:58

Oh Diege, thats rubbish. Cant believe the MW did that. Ignore her, having the doula is fab idea.

What did they suggest for the anaemia? Rubbish that it wasnt communicated to you

lardybump · 30/04/2009 15:00

Moosy DS sickness is still very bad. But because he is feeding so much he is putting on weight but not much so he has dropped a whole centile in two weeks... HV has said we have to give it another two weeks to see what his weight does and if it drops again then we need to go back to hospital for stronger drugs...... He has done nothing but puke today......

GYo · 30/04/2009 15:03

ooh, x-post Ses, glad you are still intact!

Does anyone remember me mentioning a friend who is anti kids and more specifically babies?

Since having the small giraffe, I've not had much time to talk to her but when I have its been nice to not talk baby for a change. All good. Weirdly though she just sent me a text message to say "UGHH" - someone has just brought a baby to her office and she faked being interested. I know Im being sensitive but she really didnt need to tell me that. Its like she in reinforcing that she doesnt like babies to me.... puts me off meeting up with her next month when I have the baby.

GYo · 30/04/2009 15:05

Sorry for all the puke LB. SOunds like we need brownies all round today.

How is DD getting on with DS?

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 30/04/2009 15:05

Ooh x-posts GYo!!

Just been busy My social diary is full! Been off to lunch with a couple of friends today.

NCT boys night and girls night was good. The boys have all decided that everyone's having a girl except for me and also that I'm going to be late so depsite the fact that I'm in theory next, they think I'm going to be third!

Also got a bit emotional afterwards about mcs from last year. Don't really know why so I'll blame it on hormones. I suppose it is a year ago that I was recovering from the first and approaching the second. The other girls last night were all comparing notes on how easy it had been to get pg which made me internalise my horrible self-pitying feelings.

Anyway, you can all ignore that paragraph as I'm over it now!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 30/04/2009 15:09

More x-posting!!

LB - must be v frustrating. The only other thing I can't remember if you've tried is Colief? It's v expensive but quite unique as works on the enzyme that helps digest milk.

GYo - I do remember you talking about that friend. I wonder what planet she's on thinking that comments like that are ok!! I agree, you're not expecting her to be massively interested/keen but likewise, she should keep her negative remarks to herself!

Cosmogirl · 30/04/2009 15:44

Hi ya,

Hope everyone's doing well. Have not had chance to pop on lately as have had my Mum staying for a few days helping out. She left today - think she will miss DD - she enjoyed lots of cuddles and pram pushing!

DD is 4 weeks today and got weighed by health visitor - is now 9 lbs so doing really well on weight gain.

Finding broken night's sleep a bit easier but am definitely looking forward to her sleeping longer at night...hopefully sometime soon!

Can't believe how quick time seems to be going in all your pregs.....Think other people's pregnancies always seem quicker than your own!

KK - sorry for work situation

GYo - glad you have a good support network of new mums around you. I have found out about some local groups so need to try and get out and meet some other mums soon.

Diege · 30/04/2009 16:11

Hello! Brownies were scrummy - thank you! . Feel ok now, think it was just the inital 'knock down' that hurt a bit. Was chatting to another mum at school who is a week ahead from me, and we were lamenting our midwives for their negative attitudes to anything new, etc etc - turns out we have the same one so I know it's nothing personal! I also suggesting to mw this afternoon that I'd like to try bf again after doing so well with dd1, but then bottle feeding dds 2 and 3 - again she sounded unsure about whether bf was the right thing for me and said to make sure I had some formula in etc... I think I am a bit borderline anyway, so really needed all the support I could get. Thanks for supporting me SES, GYO, and others - as you sau it's odd that she's so anti when the chances are at worst things won't be any better than without, and hopefully I'l' feel more supported so what's not to like?? .
SES, can see why you'd be a bit upset about NCT frineds' comments, must be hard xx
GYO, at your friend, does she realise how tactless she's being do you think? One of my work colleagues is the same and announced she 'hated babies' when she gave me a lift last week , very appropriate thing to say!
LB, hope you and ds are ok - must be very stressful. Second batch of brownies coming to you xx
COSMO, great to hear from you! Sounds like things are going really well, though if you're anything like me things feel odd for a day or two after my mum has left!
I must now clear the breakfast things off the table ready for tea!
