thanks for the new thread Kayz

I'm having a bit of a good day despite still not being dressed

Ds2 has asked to do a wee in the toilet, which he did. Then he came back half an hour later asking to do a poo, which he has just done!!

The gods seem to be smiling in here today.

Wonder whether my luck will run to the house viewing tonight? Maybe she'll accept 50p

KinderEggKayzr · 07/04/2009 12:17

STT, It is lovely to hear from you!!! Poo to your boss!!!!!

We've found a lump on DS1's neck so got to take him to GP's tomorrow morning. Don't think it is anything serious though.

I sort of weighed DS2 earlier by weighing myself and then weighing me and him. The difference is 8.9kg which makes him a whopping 19lb 9oz!!!!!

OP posts:
KinderEggKayzr · 07/04/2009 12:20

X-posts Sorky.

We attempted potty training with DS2 at the weekend. He wouls happily sit on his potty but he didn't do anything. Which we thought was good as he would at least sit there. But yesterday and today he will not sit on it at all. He cries and screams, he even smacked DH round the face this morning when Dh suggested sitting on it. So we may put it on hold for a while. We're going to start using the washable nappies again and have decided to use them for DS1 too.

OP posts:
sorkycakey · 07/04/2009 12:29

none of mine entertained the potty. they all insisted on using the toilet. i suppose they just wanted to be the same as us really.

yay for washables Kayz. I'm not ready just yet to go back to them

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 07/04/2009 12:38

hi everyone
Thanks for new thread Kayz, and great title Sorky.

Sorky- Hurray for baby sleeping all night... I am dreaming of that day think I might just have champagne for breakie!

Wow Kayz, 19lb! Hope the lump is ok on DS1.

STT- 15wks thats fantastic, sorry to hear you and DS have been poorly. Cant believe your work- sending snot for them.

Ses- sorry to hear your dog is poorly, hope she improves soon. I cant believe you are 35wks either! Wow... Im so excited about more wagon babies coming...

Hi everyone else, sorry for crap catch up but my memory is a bit buggered at the moment!

Things are ok here, after 5 days of intense feeding I think my supply has upped and the small giraffe has got the hang of it better. We'd given her a bottle of EBM on sat and while there wasnt any nipple confusion it made her lazy for BFing which I didnt expect. So we are back to boob only for a bit. Will see tomorrow when the MW weighs her again. If she has gained we will need to continue feeding every 3hrs during the day but can drop it off at night to what ever she demands.. being woken by an alarm to wake the baby seems so wrong at the moment!!

First Health Visitor visit today. Bit nervous as I've heard they can be very opinionated but will wait and see.

Must update the list...

DD is 16days old today . Will upload some more pics on FB later.

Great to hear from you STT - good for you re: arsey HR dept at work. Nothing like the legal facts to make people shut up
Hi GYO! Sounds like you've really got to grips with bf; interesting about effect of one bottle feed with ebm too.
Def 'listlessness' here - would like to do nothing more than just sleeeeeep but dds have other ideas. Have promised I'll make biscuits with them soon too. What have I done!

lardybump · 07/04/2009 14:20

Afternoon all. Hope you are all well. Someone has swapped my lovely, well behaved daughter, obedient daughter for a spoilt, naughty, cheeky (although rather funny) disobedient little girl. So if you see anyone walking around with my Jessica can you let me know and if anyone wants the Jessica I have now please let me know.... Xmas Grin.

How is everyone? Been to osteopath today they say DS diaphragm is very tight as are the tissues around his head and neck, this could be why he has colic and is in pain. They did a bit of work today but going back in two weeks.... Taking Jessica next week to check that things are all ok with her as well due to her labour.

I expressed a bottle before we went as I know we would need to feed half way through. So he guzzled 4oz there. When I got back I expressed as he has missed a feed and got 8oz, should I freeze this in two 4oz bags??

Feeling really positive at the moment. DS is really gaining weight despite his problems and DD is gaining a personality that although is very cheeky is also very cute.....

sorkycakey · 07/04/2009 14:26

8oz. it lasts 3 months in freezer which he might take all in one go in a few weeks' time by the sounds of him
if not save it for a babysiter. ime they always like to have more in the bottle than baby needs. it must reassure them

mommyinthemiddle · 07/04/2009 15:51

Afternoon everyone.

Thanks for new thread kayz, wonder how many babes we will see born on this one, the last one was quite a few!
Very and about your HV phoning re weaning? Love the colour of the paint where are you putting it?

LB- sorry haven't seen your DD anywhere around here but have 1 like that myself so understand DS sounds like he is getting sorted, and BF and expressing going well.

STT- hi, sorry about work being funny about sickness but glad you put them in there place. Perhaps all the sickness means your having a girl this time!

GYO- can't believe DD is over 2 weeks old already, sounds like she is doing very well. Hope visit with HV went ok and she wasn't too opinionated

SES- sorry for poorly dog, hope she is better, meant to ask if you have started your Raspberry leaf tea yet? Been and got mine today and going to start. Also wanted some expert advice from you. I have some Volterol emugel prescribed to me for previous back problems, can i use this on my hips as they are agony? Can't find any references on BNF about pregnancy and useage.

Diege- Your pregnancy wardrobe must be overflowing by now 7 pairs of jeans, i have two and two pairs of trousers and 2 skirts. It makes me laugh everytime you come on and say i have bought my very last maternity clothes today.
You wanted DD's details well
DD1 was 4 day overdue weighed 7lb
DD2 was 8 days overdue weighed 9lb 1.5oz
DC3 ??????

Tink- think slivercross pushchair would last longer and more grown up?

Claire- sorry for the pains, just the bean settling in

Gruff- Glad your boiler is getting sorted, but not what you need right now. Hope the wait is not too much longer for you.

Sorky- well done to DS2 for using the toilet, and DD2 sleeping through, it scares you when they do that the first few times, well it did me and i was poking my DD's.

Well DH was off today so sorted the garden out, fortunately the scrapman was driving round so got rid of loads of junk.been to town and got my raspberry leaf tea.
Spoke with my friend who is in her last year of midwifery training and doing a seminar on natural methods of induction. The 2 most succesful ones she has found to be are accupuncture and believe it or not castor oil. Has anyone tried these?
With DD2 i tried, pineapple, sex, nipple stimulation, clary sage and suppositories had a sweep and then contractions started the following day.

tinkhaseatentoomanyeastereggs · 07/04/2009 16:07

afternoon well done with friend kay
hope u get on ok @ dr and wow 19lbs!!
i also weighed bracken on scales like that 2 this morning and made her 11lbs she is 12 weeks on mon.

diege - you even had more maternity clothes than me i did have a few though

with bracken had :-

long denim skirt
denim cropped trousers
beige cropped trousers
long coloured skirt
jeans
4 cardys/zipped tops
3 long sleeved tops plus 4 tshirts

looks like bracken is having a growth spurt which is great as wasnt feeding so well last week

Diege · 07/04/2009 16:38

Hi MIM! Have heard that you must tread carefully with castor oil, but that it is indeed having a bit of a come back (albeit a quart of a teaspoon mixed with orange juice!). Can remember how exciting those last few weeks are - all the anticipation and excitement! Do you think no.3 will be your last? Oh and I think you traditionally start your own syndicate, and we add on? (might be wrong)so we need date, time, sex and weight

TINKS, sounds like you're getting some lovely things for the garden there - bet the trampoline will go down a treat .

Have just made the biscuits will dds so must try and make sure they don't burn this time
Odd flashback moment this afternoon - fell asleep on sofa for 5 mins and had a dream about someone I'm sure was on the wagon at some point, waiting to go through artificial insemination with her partner. Have I made this up?
Right, better go...tomorrow is a watershed day in my pregnancy; should be getting my final maternity clothes delivery - 2 IO . tops and a pair of IO capri pants, and my funmum jeans FUnny how despite all the clothes I have I still manage to look like a sack of spuds

kookykid · 07/04/2009 16:52

Just a quick dash on - in the middle of potty-training madness - will be back to compare notes later, Kay!

lardybump · 07/04/2009 17:58

DD will go on the toilet when ever she has no nappy on. But if she has a nappy on she will just go in the nappy. She does ask to have a wee wee on the toilet but has never done a poo on it... Do you think we could risk knickers yet or wait until she has done her first poo on the toilet....

Thanks for that sorky I will just freeze it as it is then... DS has hardly been sick all day and seems more content this afternoon but we havent reached the witching hours of 7 till 10 yet.... He is snacking today rather than taking full feeds so I am expressing more than normal. Does anyone elses baby snack all day (he feeds for 5 mins then comes off and sleeps but wants to snack again an hour later) given half the chance??? Is it ok to have days like this? It doesn't effect supply does it if I express every four hours as well???

Claire236 · 07/04/2009 17:58

I'm obviously going to have to start mning at work if I'm going to stand a chance of keeping up with everyone on this thread.

Skiving a day off work tomorrow to have my hair cut & go shopping with a friend. Really looking forward to it as haven't had a girly day for ages.

Still no signs of the pains going anywhere. Can anyone remember how long theirs lasted.

lardybump · 07/04/2009 18:04

Sorry you are having pains Clair, I remember having stitch type pains until about 8 weeks, then the sickness kicked in!!!! Oh the joy..... Hope you are feeling better real soon, girly day sounds great I am very . Can not wait for our girly day in york....

KinderEggKayzr · 07/04/2009 18:09

Oh I know LB. It will be great. I'm in York on Thursday with the Dec 08 Mums. Not sure what I am having for lunch though. I'm hoping the salads will be nice.

OP posts:
kookykid · 07/04/2009 20:25

Right,

IDOB - I had a HWB with my DD (DC1) and so so glad I did - she was very late and the hospital were desperate to induce which I refused. My 2nd stage was very long and they would've tried to get her out, which she didn't need. My feeling about hospitals is that they are very bound by policy and if your birth doesn't happen to fit in with what they have written down as standard then they're likely to intervene, which often leads to complications. IMO the 1:1 care you experience at home is the safest option, as at the slightest hint of trouble they'll blue-light you in so fast your feet won't touch the floor! FWIW my labour was 8.5 hours and I only used a TENS machine in the first stage... wasn't against pain relief at all, just never felt the need for it. I certainly wasn't "screaming for an epidural"!!
RE: maternity cheap maternity clothes I love New Look and Hennes.

Cosmo - glad the birth went well - how're things?

GYO - I remember my lowest point with DD being when she was about 2 weeks old. I can still see DH and I sitting in the kitchen in floods of tears while DD screamed her head off in the sitting-room. I can only second what the others have all said - it gets SO much better, and the BF is well worth while in the end. Thinking of you.

Glask - sorry you're having to do a bolttle of formula. It sounds like it'll be worth though if she gets the extra boost she needs and it doesn't have to be for long.

Claire - I forgot to say congrats on your BFP! The cramps are worrying aren't they?! All good signs that everything is getting ready to grow your bean though! I think mine lasted quite a while and it was a relief when they stopped!

LBOX - take it easy lady! Sorry to hear about the constipation, I think Diege could be right about the piles. If you are taking iron tablets you could take them with orange juice as it makes the iron easier to digest. I took lactulose for a quite while after DD was born and it really helped. Hope you haven't had any more nose-bleeds.

Diege - at your 7 pairs of maternity jeans!!!
FWIW - I mooed a lot during my HB in my middle flat in a block - I went to apologise to the neighbours and they'd never heard a thing!
Oh and there was definietly someone on the wagon quite a while ago who was trying AI with their partner!

Kay - I like the colour! If it's too much you could think about having a "feature wall" and paint the rest white? Hope DS's lump was nothing serious.

Gruff - was it you that had the baby shower? If so the pics were hilarious and you look gorgeous! It must be lovely having DH at home for a few weeks - perfect timing.

Ses - when I 1st checked the other thread I thought you'd had your baby and it was called Lucy! Doh! That'll teach me to read the last page 1st!

STT - sorry to read about your boss - well done for putting the wind up them though! Hope all the illnesses have disappeared now. The books I'd recommend are Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth an Hypnobirthing, The Mongan Method. Did you have a C-section with your DS?

Sorky - Hope your DD2 is sleeping through regularly! Can I ask what pool you had - I am concerned that we won't have enough hot water for my birhtpool-in-a-box.

LB - your poat about your DD's naughtiness could've been written by me! My Jessica has been a little monkey too. I have had my 1st try of potty training today and all I can say is I'm glad it was warm enough to be in the garden! She managed 2 wees on the pot and had about 10 accidents! Still it's only day1, so we'll try again tomorrow.
Glad the osteopath was useful. Sounds like DS is really settling down now.

MITM - I tried all methods of natural induction know to pregnant-womankind! I even did castor oil twice, which was seriously grim but did set off contractions both times. Not sure it's really a good method as it basically gives you the most awful squits, which irritates the uterus into contracting. Not pleasant!

BB - sorry it's been a tough time for you, but hooray for being 11 weeks!

Phew! That was a marathon catch-up!

GruffaloSoldier · 07/04/2009 20:37
