Good morning troopers

LB so pleased you feel like you were taken seriously and not brushed off, and I am also really pleased that you have a bit of a plan in place, it is always the not knowing that makes it worse.

Gruff, goodness me woman Can't believe you went through all of that, but he is gorgeous and so so so worth it, well done you!

Ses, sound's like you, and the dogs, had a lovely afternoon

Diege, I got out of the pushing the pushchair up hill in the rain. Friend came round with a bottle of wine (she's my favourite friend! ) about 2.30, she went and got the kids from school, so I didn't have to get Mikey in the buggy etc. She left about 2am T'was a good night, or what I can actually remember was anyway!

I am about to go and get something to eat, why do I fancy a disgusting, greasy, full of shite kebab at 7.18am?

Diege · 02/05/2009 08:38

Morning! Eww, greasy kebab Nat...def hangover food . I also got out of pushing buggy in rain yesterday as friend came round in her car so we could get our broods back without getting wet. Of course sun came out minute school finished...
GRUFF, good to hear from you! Welcome back, and glad you arev liking it on the other side!!
GLASK, excellent news about Ruby. You have both done so well and you have been so strong about bf
LB, great news too about the GP. The extra mucuous produced through a cold could well be making things worse sickness-wise; sounds like you have good support there xx
Dh has taken older dds out to Conwy so just me and dd3 today. Should be nice if weather holds. I'm taking her to the library to join, then park, then costa coffee to get myself a double expresso her a babychino.
Hope everyone has a good BH weekend

Kayzr · 02/05/2009 08:55

Morning,

Glask, that is brilliant news!!!

I had a pretty bad day yesterday. DS1 decided to be naughty all day. He refuses to let DS2 sleep. As soon as DS2 falls asleep either on me or in his pushchair DS1 runs over and screams "Awake Dylan" in his face as loudly as possible. I'm not keen on him sleeping in his cot as my friend's DD has always slept in her cot but will not sleep in the pushchair at all.

Then last night DS2 woke at half 3 and wouldn't go back to sleep until about 6!!

Hope you are all ok!!

NatalieJane · 02/05/2009 08:58

Would love to blame it on a hang over, but I don't have one. Not sure if that's good or bad, if I can drink like last night and not feel rough this morning, does that mean I drink too much?

NatalieJane · 02/05/2009 09:00

Sorry morning Kay Sorry for crappy day, let's hope today is better

Diege · 02/05/2009 09:06

Hmm, must be a craving then Nat
Hi KAYZ! You know I think I would try ds 2 in a cot for sleeps if you're in. I think your friend's dd might be the exception to not sleeping in the buggy, all of mine have alongside daytime naps in cot. Maybe give it a go, you can always abandon!

Starshinetiger · 02/05/2009 09:27

Okay, going to post and run I'm afraid. GYo and Gruff - am intrigued about your routines. Are you both still bfing and do your DC need a little suckle to get them to nap, or if not, how do you put them down. DD seems to be calling out for routine - last night was a shocker (would not settle at all and think I overfed to try and settle her and that made it worse ). This morning she woke at 7am so I fed her, then she was awake and has just gone down in moses basket (DH gave her the dummy to settle her) - this was the same yesterday but I think I let her sleep too long in the day yesterday (she had nearly 2 hours am and over 3 hours pm). Anyway, is not ideal but I'm going to transfer her to car seat as we're going into town, but will not allow her to sleep too long this morning. Any tips you guys have as you are doing it would be great...

Nat - bottle of wine - can't wait to do that once I'm getting more sleep (well only a glass while I'm still bfing)

Diege - your day sounds lovely, enjoy.

Kayz - sorry for DS1! Am with Diege - would go with putting DS2 in his cot as neither of mine have a problem sleeping in both cot and pushchair (well except that DD seems to object to sleeping at night )!

Enjoy your Saturdays - hope you all have sun. We're making the most of it as we have rain forecast for tomorrow, so planning a trip to the local kids play centre!

GYo · 02/05/2009 12:28

Hi everyone
Hurray for wt gain Glask! So pleased for you, I well understand the stress of the scales!

Star- good point about the suckling to sleep.
DD is prone to falling asleep at the end of a breastfeed (or during!) so was generally always going into bed asleep when she was very young. Then I wanted to get her to sleep during the day, so started putting up awake after a feed (curtains drawn, dark but not black out). She would cry always to start with and (sometimes still does now so its no where near perfect), so I go up to comfort her, hold and rock her gently and "shush" her and 9 times out of 10 she drops off in moments. I never let her get really worked up, before going to her. I've had to do it several times before she has gone to sleep but feel its worth it if she needs a sleep, or she is overtired. I dont have a strict day time sleep pattern or I'd never be able to go out and do other things. Just try for two upstairs naps and usually sleeps in the car, Daytimes are harder than bed time when she will go down awake and settle her self (generally) but is usually very tired by then.

Think the key for us is always starting day at 7am (regardless of how bad the night was) and bedtime feed at 6pm. That seems to have got the "routine" going for us.

Weekends are another story... the change of pace with dh around makes huge difference.

Hope that helps

Time for a new thread!!!

here

Diege · 02/05/2009 17:35

Wow MOOS that does sound good! Wish I'd tried it myself now, though relieved that I won't have the opportunity again!
TINKS, sounds like you had a good day. These BHs are a pain for us shop-aholics Hoping to get my most recent purchases through on Tuesday - a parka jacket from topshop for cooler summer days post-birth, and a final, final tunic top (yes, maternity..)
Gorgeous weather here still..can't believe it after all the rain! DD has been much better with her toilet training today, after a few rubbish ones. Who knows, I could have a few nappy free weeks before no.4 starts the whole thing off again!
Oh a question I have been meaning to ask. As my last 2 were winter babies, have forgotten what's what re: summer clothing. I had sort of assumed a thick cardi-type jacket with hood would be ok for new baby, hadn't though of a coat/light snow-suit type thing. Assume this will be needed? Any advice appreciated!
