i'm just trying to catch up properly & apologies if i've missed anyone...

Big hiya to our newbies

Bantam so glad to hear you're ok

chocolatebunnies congrats on setting your wedding date. DH & i got engaged on valentines and set our wedding date for 10wks later as we didn't want a big fuss and I just needed enough time to make my dress... You'll be fine & def busy! hope you've recovered from your fall.

divedaisy i've had a nosebleed last week too... been blowing my nose a lot so wondering if that's the cause? and a belated congrats on your shop opening.

Momino if i'm not wearing my ugg type boots i'm in my funky red crocs with an addition by me of a celtic sheepskin insole inserts and i've not got a linea nigra either this time

Olderbutnotwiser i'm in awe of you on #6... glad to hear that you didn't have to stay in hospital long.

Tummum it is worth getting your wee tested... with my PE last time the outward only symtom i had was extreme swelling of hands/feet. Better to be safe than worry.

Febes congrats on regaining your bedroom and hope tonight is as good as last night... fingers crossed.

frazzledoldbag i'm not aware of starting nesting but our flat is the tidiest it's ever been! I put it down to prospect of viewings but maybe it's nesting?! I have also been seriously organising all the baby clothes i've bought and started to make neat piles of everything i've bought to do the various hospital bags... labour/after/baby/ds overnight bag ready to pack etc!

runningmonkey fingers crossed everything proceeds for your house sale/move... the fact that you're moving has given me hope that people are selling/buying at the moment hopefully that will be us next! I agree you should do the supervising role and on moving day be in charge of the what goes where and making tea giving biscuits etc... got to keep their strength up. Def good timing about your brother too.

Gert2a thanks for the reminder for pelvic floor.. been v remiss at doing them lately. Sounds like your baby room is coming together at quite a fast pace... and going to be lovely i'm sure.

sausagenmash well done on handing in your research proposal... time to give yourself a well deserved pat on the back, long rest and nice treats to celebrate!

I've not looked at the teenage thread after reading how horrified you've been. the OP has been getting such a negative/mixed reaction to her post.

I love the nesting titles and the squeeze and hold one too.

I have a query for those with SPD. Earlier this week i noticed i was feeling strong aches/cramps? across the bottom of my bump when i'd been pushing DS in his pram... and thought hey ho i'll have to get him to walk more so i'm not pushing him up slopes etc. Today I walked into town (10mins) down hill with DS & DH. DS needed a nap as he was up at 5.40am today so DH pushed him. I have now found out that i'm getting these same strong aches just walking without pushing carrying anything... along the flat etc. My back/legs/pelvic bones don't seem to be bothering me but I'm feeling like I want to hoick up my bump and hold it up while i'm wondering around... otherwise it feels very uncomfortable/sore/achey. Is anyone else's lower bump area feeling like this? I've now got to 30wks and all of a sudden my bump is very prominent (must take some more pics) and all at the front. A friend I met up with yesterday for hot choc said I don't look pregnant from the back at all... and was surprised at my change of bump size in just a week

Fi- we also got engaged on valentines day and married 6 weeks later. That was 6 years ago now our anniversary is in a month!!

Belgianchocolates · 07/03/2009 20:19

fi sounds more like ligament pain or braxton hicks than SPD. With SPD your bump doesn't actually hurt it's your pubic bone and lower back.

Pelvic floor excersises. Aaah, thanks for reminding us!

Cocktails, yey, I'll have another one too!

sausagen congrats with handing in your research proposal. Hope you'll get good feedback.

I've looked for that teenage thread, but haven't found it. Must not be looking in the right place. I'm just curious really at what those horrible comments actually are.

I think I'll relax for a bit now and read a book and have an early night after last night's late one.

Good night everyone.

FiKelly · 07/03/2009 20:25

Belgianchocolates thanks... didn't think it was spd. but it's v uncomfortable none the less. Will phone my mw on mon if it's still really bothering me and see what she suggests.

febes we got married in 2002... how time has flown! our anniversary is in april... going to make plans for that but not for my birthday... day after my due date on the 16th MAY!

fi thanks for your nice comments and hang in there for yours a friend of mine just sold hers too so things are def starting to 'move' as it were. Re your lower bump ache I've been feeling like that on and off for a couple of weeks it gets worse if I'm walking around a lot. My friend said it might be bh contractions but as I've not done this before have no idea what they're supposed to feel like! Does your bump feel harder when it happens cos mine does. It tends to go after a few min tho

frazzledoldbag · 07/03/2009 20:43

Oh re:SPD, I thought this was interesting.....was speaking to a friend the other day who has just had her 3rd baby and I haven't seen for ages. She said she had severe SPD from about 13 wks this time, and was really struggling. Her midwife thought she'd end up on crutches with it as it was so bad. Anyway she went swimming one day about 25wks pg I think and was doing the back stroke. She said she felt this horrific pain and managed to somehow get out of the water. Sat at the side of the pool until it subsided and managed to get home. After resting for a few hours she realised her SPD felt much better and for the rest of her pg she wasnt' bothered much by it! She still had some pain but absolutely nothing like what she had been suffering before the swimming! She has no idea what happened but it sounds like something did. Anyway she recommends trying a few lengths of the back-stroke if anyone is brave enough!!!!

Hello all,

Have not had time to read back through all the thread but hope everyone is well.

I have been to Wisley Gardens today - they had a free entry day - it was very busy but we had a lovely time. The DC had fun, in particular got filthy rolling down the slopes!

Bump is getting bigger -- I had forgotten how tired this stage can be. Or maybe I was a lot younger then so didn't feel it so bad! I have been getting night cramps for about a week now - nightmare...

llareggub · 07/03/2009 21:42

Such a nightmare with DS tonight. He would not go to bed and kept telling DH to "go away, want mummy," while I sat downstairs exhausted after nesting all day.

In the end I had to rock him like a baby and sing lullabies, which in some respects was very lovely and cute because it is what we used to do when he was a baby, but it made me realise how hard it is going to be in just 8 short weeks when this baby is out!

I managed to get my cracked pump exchanged so I'm going to give pumping a go Monday morning when DS is in pre-school.

Our nursery is finished, and looks lovely. We just need some pictures for the walls, and I need to sort through DS's old clothes as they are all over the place at the moment.

FiKelly · 07/03/2009 22:14

runningmonkey yes my bump was very hard.. didn't subside until well after ds was asleep. I didn't get bh with ds at all so if that's what this is

our pink one doesn't really have a proper nursery like ds did.. and won't until we move. the cotbed is in our smallest bedroom along with our bookshelves filled with dvd's, books and a huge wooden storage chest containing all my crafting/dressmaking stuff. there's no where else in our flat for it all to go & lo will be in with us for 1st 6m but it's not stopping me feel a little i'd love to have a little pink room ready..

Hurrah for Sausage mines still a banana daquiri, but its also still on the beach. In Malaysia. Also Sausage we have been talking about the meet, Dandy would be able to forward our emails - we haven't got very far with it yet and it would be so nice if you could join us. I too would be unendingly impressed if your folks dressed as the Adams for your wedding - thems parents to be proud of.

Belgian - re that thread - don't do it! i was nosey but wished i hadn't, it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Fi hope you're feeling better soon and its bh.

My two bobs worth on shoes - birkenstocks. Sorry. If you look on their website they do some interesting styles, I always liked the heidi klum range - I have a pair of canvas boots she did years ago, have been wearing them four years and always get comments (good ones). Theres a shop in London that does great flats that are good for feet, The Natural Shoe Store (covent gdn and chelsea) but that probably isn't much use to anyone outside of London.

Also i know I bang on about acupuncture, but I had a needle last week for my sinuses because I finally remembered to mention that I always have a bloody left nostril and very mild little nosebleeds in the morning. Haven't had it since and the constant pinging in my sinuses has stopped. Its a page back so I can't remember who mentioned it now, but it has helped a lot, could be worth a try if you've really had it with the nose bleeds.

flippineck · 07/03/2009 22:29

The Natural Shoe Store do mail order, but I htink it's on the pricey side for postage and I think you have to pay for returns so might not be good value.

I'm liking 'nesting, nesting, 1-2-3' for the new thread title, but happy with whatever.

frazzledoldbag · 07/03/2009 22:39

Right, am off to bed as there appears to be a huge storm going on outside and I'm getting a bit scared!!! [wuss emoticon]
Thank goodness DD1 is away at a sleepover as she has the noisiest bedroom in the houe and definitely wouldn't sleep through this wind.....maybe I should have watched the weather forecast but I wasn't expecting this!
Night ladies, sleep tight x

frazzledoldbag · 07/03/2009 22:42

BTW re: braxton hicks contractions I never had any in my first pregnancy. Had loads (painful ones) with DD2 pregnancy. This time I've had loads since Christmas time but not painful, just a very hard bump which comes and goes. Think it's quite common not to have any with your first child (or not to be aware of them). Was slightly alarmed to be having them on Christmas day (20 wks) but must have been stress-induced.
Anyway wind is howling and I'm off to hide in bed. Byeeee

I like both of those titles Dandy. (I never could make a decision!!)

Aarrgh - I can't sleep, I've been tossing and turning for an hour and decided to get up. Beats yesterday morning when I woke up the world was spinning. I went back to sleep and was okish but felt like I had a hangover. The sounds my stomach are making I'm wondering if I have a tummy bug brewing and we're off on our hols tom

llareggub - my ds appears to have resorted to 'baby ways'! To get him to try and drink anything, esp in the evening I have to pretend to feed him like you'd feed a baby a bottle!!

Fi I get that with the hard, painful lower bump when walking. The only way I can describe it is, it feels like I'm carrying a lead weight in my stomach!

Oh yes and it's our wedding anniversary today - we've been married 6yrs! Think Dh has forgotten, but it doesn't matter as we don't generally make a big thing out of it. I remember after ds was born I'd opened so many congratulations cards and 6 weeks later I got another one from my sister - I just couldn't work out why and it took my mum to remind me that it was for our anniversary - thankful DH was as clueless as me on that occasion!!
Oh dear I really am waffling - I'd better stop...

Morning all,

Thanks for the "anniversary" chat as its reminded me its our 5th wedding anniversary on 6 April. Might have to have a meal out or something.

FiKelly · 08/03/2009 08:17

daisy forgot to wish you a lovely day and happy anniversary too

OP posts:
rosielady · 08/03/2009 08:38

Morning,
You've also reminded me that our 11th wedding anniversary is on the 17th April, which is also DH's 40th! I haven't done a stroke yet - any suggestions? DH has expressed a desire to have an afternoon barbeque for his birthday, but i am having difficulty summoning the energy to organise or even think about properly - poor effort from me! i have my doubts about a BBQ in mid April in central Scotland, but we can always just put some food on inside instead.

Its the thought of all the other stuff that we have to do before hand - 4 rooms to paint including the hall and staircase! Not me - but trying to cajole DH - but difficult as he works FT and commutes, and helps a lot with DS around the house, so not a lot of energy left at the end of the day.

We would normally go away for a few days on our anniversary, but this was before DS was born - but anyone got any ideas for anniversary night away within a couple of hours drive of Central Scotland?
