Good afternoon everyone. Hope everyone is enjoying their sunday. It's cloudy here in the midlands, making it a bit miserable really.

My ds is better today. The rash is still there, but it doesn't seem to itch anymore. I did think about piriton, but it's not something I've got in the house normally (no one's allergic to anything here) and it was quite late too. I did still have come calamine lotion from back when they had chickenpox and put it on him this morning. It did seem to ease it and actually he hasn't itched at all since.

I had a terrible night's sleep. My dh seems to take up far too much space in the bed and then ds came in too. He's a big 7 yo who wears size 9y clothes, so he takes up loads of space. I told him he's not coming into our bed again tonight! DH has gone back to Gravesend for work today, so I'm actually happy about it, because I'll have the bed for myself again and hopefully get a good sleep

Can't remember who it was that asked what we do with our baby stuff, well, it just sort of finds it's own spot and you learn to live with the fact that your house will never look the same again. I have got storage boxes, but you end up with more stuff than can actually fit in them. I dread birthdays and christmas nowaday, because I'm never sure where to put all the toys. At the moment all our baby stuff is in the corner of our bedroom and as soon as our au pair goes I'll move it all into her room. That's as far as my plan goes really, I haven't actually worked out yet what I'll do when I go back to work and we need another ap.

Thanks Dandy - you've done a great job. I'll just make sure I update the list whenever I change name!

EmmalinaC · 22/02/2009 15:22

I'm afraid I'm one of those lightweights who hasn't been on for ages - thankyou for keeping me on the list Dandy ! I will have to find the last thread and get up to speed with all your news and will try to keep up in future.

We were away on holiday last week, only to Devon but so lovely to have the opportunity to catch up on some sleep. I also took the opportunity to catch up on some eating and am now tipping the sacles at 12 stone

I hope everyone is keeping well? I started waddling last Thursday - literally overnight - and now feel very third trimester-y. Had to get my pelvic girdle thing out the loft. Lovely.

Am off to read the old thread now!

divedaisy · 22/02/2009 16:25

Hi Gals - now cloudy and overcast here up the Antrim coast! I asked ds if he wanted to go to Fun Works or play at home with Lego and Wii... he chose to stay at home, and to be honest it was the answer I was hoping for. All my energy seems to have left me. I had a gorgeous bath - bubbles up to my chin! And read a good few chapters of a Tom Clancy book - 'Op Centre'. Then got ds into the bath for a swim (yes it was that deep!). Have put a load into the washing machine, filled the dish washer and made the beds... that's been it and I do kinda feel guilty that I haven;t done more. Well so long as DS had clean uniform for tomorrow and I've something to wear I'm not going to worry too much.

EmmalinaC - hope you had a lovely week away. I was planning on a trip to Glasgow next month to see my Brother & SIL, but am glad I havent made the arrangements -I dont think I could cope!

Everything tires me out at the minute! Anyone else getting really puffed at the slightest thing?? I dont want to think it, but I'm feeling a bit down today for some reason (too tired ??) and haven;t the enthusiasm for anything...

Rek21 thanks for hopping back on the list!
Dandy - I dont think you've offended anyone!! You have done a sterling job sorting out the list. I did start on a trim a while ago, but was too scared of upsetting anyone - I kinda thought if you dropped someone off you were indicating they'd had a mc and I didnt want to upset anyone unnecessarily. Yes there will be those who posted at the beginning and are still pregnant, but too busy to chat - they didnt catch the MN bug!!!

Away to make a bucket of tea!! (I don't take a cuppa or a mug - it has to be a bucket!!)

Polony · 22/02/2009 17:06

Hi everyone, haven't read everything yet (only been off the laptop since friday, its easy to get behind) but dandy thanks for doing the list, its genius, indeed you do have the patience of a saint.

Sausage - are you talking about the NCT nearly new sale which I think is next saturday? If so I was thinking of going to it. If not, which baby show are you talking about? Also theres another NCT sale on the 7th March in Haringey, which I'll definitely go to. I think. They sound good.

Tummum · 22/02/2009 17:48

Hello everyone. Just checking in on the new thread. Well, it's been an eventful week. I saw the MW on Tuesday who referred me to the GP for suspected AND. I have been referred to a 'well being team,' not ordered any drugs (phew) and about a million health professionals have called me in the last week to check all is OK.

I have felt really crap (and crabby) all week, with work going off the scale with stress-ness, but this weekend feeling a bit less low, helped by a new push-chair purchase and spending time with my brother and his other half. I hope that this continues.

Sorry for the self-absorbed post. Wishing everyone a lovely week.

PS Very of people starting ML. I have 7 weeks to go.... sigh... but half thinking of going of sick....

chocolatebunnies · 22/02/2009 17:54

Hey ladies,

Just a quick one,

Has anyone dyed their hair whilst pregnant?? Is it allowed? Are there any terrible outcomes from it?

I used to dye my hair loads when I was younger, pink, red, blue, black, you name it, I've done it, However I am now paying for it with premature grey hairs, at 21 FFS! my nan did warn that would happen! Damn old people always being right! So I've just bought a nice and easy brown one to touch up with and am currently 10 mins in to my 48 hour test, it should be safe though right???

Febes · 22/02/2009 17:55

Polony- Take care at the NCT sales. Be prepared to go into battle as people jossle to get in and get the bargins. I found my first one at 32 weeks pg with DD very overwelming. DH and I walked around in a daze. I have been to a few more now and I am now a woman possessed jossling with the best of them.
Serious though they are great for bargins and I am of the belief that second hand is just as good for my children and I do love a bargin. (addict to ebay, car boot, NCT etc)

Febes · 22/02/2009 17:59

Chocbunny- I dye my hair and have done through both pregnancies with no side effects. I refuse to go grey. I also found my first grey ones at 22 I think the dye can react in different ways eg go a different shade but I could be wrong. I know some hairdressers refuse to dye pg hair.

sausagenmash · 22/02/2009 18:01

polony - nah its the baby show thing at excel in the docklands - can't work out how to do the swanky link things, but if you google 'the baby show' you'll come up with it...

Would you believe I am being subjected to Omen III this afternoon....

chocolatebunnies · 22/02/2009 18:08

febes its the most embarassing thing ever isnt it?!!! I keep pulling the fuckers out but keep finding more, and longer ones! I have to stop though or Im going to be bald!
So should I keep on with the 48 hour test and then dye it on Tueday? TBH I'm not planning on dying the whole lot, just round the roots and comb it through so it looks "natural" so its not as if my head is going to be caked in the stuff! I had forgotton how bad it smells though, might have to apply it in the garden!!!

Polony · 22/02/2009 18:29

Oh god febes that sounds hellish. I don't do crowds well at all. I really want to go and have a try though. Since theres two coming up within a couple of weeks may I could go to the first for reconnoisance before committing to going right in. I do a good filthy look without even trying so I might be ok.

Belgianchocolates · 22/02/2009 18:40

I've dyed my hair in all my pregnancies. I've always done it myself, though when pg I tend to go for highlights rather than full head, just to be on the safe side. I've heard the same about hair sometimes reacting differently to dyes when pg, though it never happened to me. Hair can do funny things in pregnancy though, my SIL's hair went straight during her first pregnancy and than back to curly during her 2nd!

chocolatebunnies I'm sure dyeing your hair doesn't make it go grey! Never heard of that before. I've not seen my natural hair colour since I was 16 and I know I'm not grey (from seeing my roots) and I'm 31!

chocolatebunnies I don't think dyeing your hair will make it go grey. I did all sorts to mine in my yoof but it's only the last few years I've been getting the stragglers. Genetics I think. You should be fine dyeing your hair, I had mine done a while back & it's fine. If you're worried use a semi-permanent.

Dandy great job with the list, thank you!

I noticed a few lists back I got moved from 3rd to 2nd May but as the hospital have me down for the 1st I'll stick with 2nd as a compromise!

Just back from a lovely coffee, cake & chat with detsy She warned me about DH/DPs with selective night-time hearing so I've told DH I'm wise to that one already

Belgianchocolates · 22/02/2009 19:11

We had a funny thing happening in our house with the selective night-time hearing. After dd was born, DH used to sleep through dd and I used to sleep through ds crying. My theory was that he knew that only I could sort dd out, due to the bf and I 'ignored' ds, because he didn't need me like dd did IYKWIM.

I have done absolutely nothing today, except for 3 loads of washing, tidying the kitchen and preparing 2 meals. Funny isn't it what we call nothing.

Selective night-time hearing is great! I seem to sleep through cries from DS and DD at the moment- i do hear something, but it takes a while to rouse myself, whilst DH jumps straight out of bed and is off to their room! I only go in if he's struggling!

Guess i'm making the most of it, since when LO is here, I will be the one getting up every few hours, although I actually quite liked feeding DS in the night. Me or DH would do his nappy first so that if he didn't poop, i could feed him, wind him and get him back down asleep no bother usually. DD was more tricky to settle afterwards...

llareggub · 22/02/2009 19:38

I should probably post this in AIBU but I thought I'd ask you lovely ladies for some advice concerning my inlaws, who have looked after DS twice a week since I went back to work in 2007. As some of you know, I started maternity leave last week and DS is starting pre-school 2 mornings a week next week.

DH told me today that his mother is very upset and feels we are pushing them out, because the days we picked for nursery are the days they usually look after DS. We picked those days with my return to work in mind, so that they would not have to look after 2 little ones together and also because the nursery only had Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays free, which didn't leave a lot of choice!

I'm actually quite shocked that she thought the arrangement to have DS 2 days a week would continue with DS in nursery and me on maternity leave. If she had him 2 days, and he went to nursery on the other 2 mornings, that would give me hardly any quality time with him at all.

I'm so angry at the moment I could scream. DS starts nursery tomorrow, it's my first week of maternity leave and I was really looking forward to spending some time with DS after all this time in work. There are, of course, other issues as well. DH suffered from depression last year and his mother told me over the summer that she blamed me for it. Even though DH told her that it was nothing to do with me, she has never apologised for it.

I really feel like I could do with some perspective on this, as I am too angry to think this through. I'm also really upset as we've actually asked them to look after DS on Wednesday, so they are only missing tomorrow! We went away for the weekend to see my family (150 miles away) and my MIL actually questioned me about why we were going, like I needed to justify seeing my family.

Grr. Sorry, ranting now.
