Hurray- thanks Kay...

kayzr · 04/02/2009 10:56

LBOT, I want to teach DS1. He loves the water but has only ever been in one of those seats. So I want to get him some armbands now. Plus I need the seat for DS2. DH will be coming with us too but he can't swim.

I will look into classes.

Yay, shiny new thread!

Kay I think a keen 2 year old should be pretty easy. Especially if he's able to communicate with you and tell you if he's scared/cold/tired, etc. My nan had a pool when we were little and we were in from a really young age - totally loved the water, which I think was really good for us. Arm bands + you + DH + shallow end + lifeguard...you should be fine!

NatalieJane · 04/02/2009 11:03

Thanks for new thread Kay I was going to say our pool insists on one adult per child under 8, so if your's is the same, you wouldn't be able to take both on your own, but if DH is there, well it doesn't matter does it?!

DS1 has gone to school He has an ear infection (first one ever!) on AB's and calpol for the next god knows how long. So although I'm still not going to be here all day, now I don't have to run around after him, I have a bit more time!

Well I don't now, Mikeys up!

kayzr · 04/02/2009 11:05

I'll have to take them and see how he gets on.

DS1 needs some new swimming shorts aswell.

LBOT forgot to say that your bump looks perfect to me.........

Diege · 04/02/2009 11:25

Thanks for the new thread KAYZ . Yes, by the time we're through with this one ASARTE should have her baby! Swimming sounds good

GYO , you wouldn't have liked the last rolo - was a tad stale

Good advice there NAT about the bee. Will just go with foot muff thing - is that something you buy as an extra? Great that ds is at school - no more poorly voice for a while

lastboxoftampons · 04/02/2009 11:29

Aw, thanks LB

DH and I have been talking names and can't seem to agree on a girl's name. Actually, we can agree on several, but just not the way they're spelled Could be a cultural thing...but Isabel vs Isabelle and Tia vs Thea (pronounced Tee-a) What does everyone prefer?

idreamofbeanie · 04/02/2009 11:30

Morning all - can I take a guess on Astarte's syndicate? I'll add my guess below.

Astarte's Syndicate

Chloe - Feb 12th @ 4pm 8lb 4 oz.
IDOB - Feb 13th @ 11am 8lb 1oz
Gruff - Feb 14th @ 7.30am 8lb 5oz

Had a read through the thread this morning but have promptly forgotten most of it . Hope you are all well and not suffering too much from the lack of sleep. I am still feeling sick today but getting used to it, I haven't actually been sick but keep those buckets next to the sofa please!

Kay - I know my parents took me and DB swimming when we were just weeks old and said it was fantastic. Mum was quite nervous of letting us go under the water when we were so small so I think having dad there helped. Neither of us are very strong swimmers but we are both very confident around the water. Hope you enjoy it.

idreamofbeanie · 04/02/2009 11:33

Oh - just realised my guess is Friday the 13th. Hope you're not superstitious Astarte !

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 04/02/2009 11:37

Meant to ask LBOT- will you find out the sex or have a suprise?

kayzr · 04/02/2009 11:40

LBOT, I don't know if it helps but I prefer Isabelle and Tia. Thea makes me think of Rhea which is a large bird I think.

OP posts:
lastboxoftampons · 04/02/2009 11:41

GYO we are finding out. DH wants to, but I don't - in the end I agreed because I think it'll be easier (ie my mom can bring me lots of stuff from the states when she comes to visit ). The next one will be a surprise. I'm almost positive it will be a boy and we're pretty set on a boy's name anyway. I think actually that's a bit of a sticking point with me - I feel like everything's decided already and there will be no surprise so I'm secretly hoping for a girl as we're not as settled with a girl's name!

Hi IDOB Glad to hear you're feeling queasy. I mean, not GLAD, but it's good, really, it is!

My, I'm chatty today. Right, really must go do some work!

lastboxoftampons · 04/02/2009 11:43

Kay you're half right then
DH prefers Isabelle (me = Isabel) and he thinks Thea (which is THEE-a to me, not TEE-a )

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 04/02/2009 11:47

Both nice names LBOT

To be different I like Isobel

Not sure on Thea as it may get mispelt a lot....

lastboxoftampons · 04/02/2009 11:52

I do quite like Isobel, but I like that Isabel is the Spanish equivalent of Elizabeth without being overtly a "spanish" name. My surname before I got married was Lopez and I have Spanish and Italian heritage. In the end we'll probably just go with Francesca with Juliet as a middle name! Actually it would be quite nice as my dad's name is Frank and would be a nice way of honoring him without having to call a little boy baby such a harsh name (don't mean to offend, I just don't like the name!) And I like that the Juliet is a tiny subtle little nod to my ballet background (even though obviously R&J is not JUST a ballet! but it is one of my favorites)

Astarte · 04/02/2009 11:58

I know a Tea with the little accent over the 'e' (pronounced tay-a) she's an incredibly beautiful 8 yo.

Isabelle is not my cuppa, but still a pretty name

Kayz you are being strong and not eating baked goods! Think of the teeny jeans you're going to fit into by being good

Poor little ds1 Nat he's had a rough winter illness-wise hasn't he?

Diege you're on fire today, making me giggle everytime I read your posts. Did you manage to get any of the super-dooper donuts (mmmmm!)

My syndicate's looking full! Blimey I'm gonna have to tell Dh to log on straight away and let you all know. MIght revise mine to Sunday, have a feeling it'll be then.

Well nesting has gripped me entirely I've just cleaned the cooker hood (galss/stainless steel) and then the lights, then the dining room lights (chandelier-like), having a coffee before my parents arrive for a visit.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 04/02/2009 11:59

Thats interesting LBOT. Francesca is lovely too. Agree, not sure I could go with Frank for a boy

You are good having names sorted.

We've sort of got some names but nothing final yet. Visions of it being baby Gyo for sometime after birth whilst we row talk about and decide on the name

Diege · 04/02/2009 12:00

Lovely names both . My dd3 has 'Thea' as her middle name (Th sound); think if you were in the UK most people would pronounce with the soft 'Th' sound? Love Isabelle - would probably spell like that too myself - like Isobel too (think it's the Scottish spelling??) Actually Francesca is maybe my fave - love Frannie and Fran as shortened versions too.

Just realised I hadn't had a guess, was sure I had

Diege, TBH, I can't remember what came with the Bee and what didn't, I seem to remember buying the footmuff from MC (so it didn't come with the package we bought), but I can't swear to it, it might well be the maxi-cosi footmuff I remember buying? Sorry. If I get a second later I can check, but you might have to remind me!

I am with GYo, Isobel and Tia for me.

Right an hour left to get everything that needs doing done before the HV get's here, Mikey isn't settling at all, I need a wee, but DS2 has just gone up to bed and I don't want to disturbe him yet, and I am starrrrrrving! Not that I am flustered at all, no siree, not me.... (someone kick my arse off the pooter please!)

kayzr · 04/02/2009 12:10

Astarte you are right. I am not eating baked food!!

Cupasoup for lunch with toast. Minimal calories and also very yummy.
