Just one more coffee then I will get the hover out.....

GruffaloSoldier · 19/02/2009 10:07

Hey good morning all,

Sorry I havent been on much! I have been working lots this week as its half term. Did 9am-9.45pm yesterday and am SOOOOO relieved to be at home for the next week and a half!I am doing a few hours next week but the main family I work for are going away so I will have a nice rest. Then I have 1 and a half weeks til maternity leave starts - wahoo!

My 2 sisters and niece and nephew (aged 6 and 11) are coming to stay for a couple of days today which is cool. My one sister is the DIY/anything practical queen so is coming to sort us out. We are going to paint nursery and she has also made us a lovely winnie the pooh blind for the nursery so she is going to put that up for us. she is also going to paint our kitchen for us which will be fab (weve had the paint for about a year! Basically anything she can!

Hope everyone is right.

Sorry to hear about the finger Astarte! And v.impressed you and baby have braved the shops already!

Congrats on adding to list IDOB!

Congrats on scan Kooky

Hi Gyo, long time no speak, I hope you are enjoying your maternity leave!

Hello to LB, Ses, Kayz, Diege, sorry to any Ive missed

lardybump · 19/02/2009 10:09

right ladies I am off now to get some work done before my s&s... i will check in with you ladies later tonight as we will be going into town after dr....

Starshinetiger · 19/02/2009 10:12

LB I think you should be taking it easy. I had a disturbed night with DS, but nowhere near yours and I went back to bed for 1.5 hours after he went to childminder - take it easy woman for goodness sake. Housework will still be there!

DH has pulled out dishwasher, washing machine and fridge so I can clean behind them and then as soon as I've done the oven and the fridge this morning I will feel like a new woman, as the kitchen is clean and organised, with baby stuff accessible and weaning stuff (fgs I haven't needed it for over a year, but haven't put it away anywhere) out of the way for now. Can't believe how obsessed with domesticity I am, but hoping that it will all be done this week and then I can do some relaxing stuff next week - Mum is coming over on Monday to babysit Mon night and Tues we're going shopping out for a mooch around town and a coffee (her words - including those struck out ).

IDOB - yay for putting yourself on list.
Kooky - yay for scan
STT - echo GYo - make most of eating, once the heartburn kicks in, it really is no fun - I didn't get heartburn last pg, but this time, there's no relent.
Glask - thinking of you.
Kayz - poor DH yesterday, but I would have laughed too.
Diege - must be strange having just DD3 at home, hope you enjoy it and can make the most of some you time.
Ses - hope you made facial.
Astarte - amazed at you being out and about so soon, is that what it's like when it's not your PFB - really hope so . Sounds great!
Sorry for anyone I've missed - off to clean more now! Am getting such a sense of satisfaction from it

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 19/02/2009 10:32

Morning Star- do I detect a bit of nesting? ?? I've been doing similar things here too... lovely having time to keep on top of it all.... though thats the bit Im not good at... Weirdly untidyness makes me more tired than usual... must the the thought of cleaning that does it!

Sorry to hear you are getting bad HB too.. are you taking anything? I've resorted to zantac, despite it being ruled against in UK...Also taking gaviscon tabs like smarties... both things really help me out but even with that there are many many foods I cant eat. Worst meal is breakfast. Any cereal with milk is torture, except porridge weirdly. But Im sooo fed up wiht it now! roll on next 4wks!

Hi Gruff- glad you posted today, I was only thinking of you last night and noticing that you'd not been on for a bit... glad to hear that you are ok and just busy SOunds good that you are getting DIY help..

We need to arrange that coffee soon... will post on FB wall to find day when we are all around- would be good to do before any buns pop out!

Having a trying morning today, watching tele and doing MN now then Im off to get my highlights done for last time before the baby... >

Cosmogirl · 19/02/2009 10:40

Morning all,

I am pretending to be on Mat leave today (but really am at home sick). Can't believe I have managed to get through 35 weeks of not a single cough, cold etc...and now bam, DH has given me his rotten sore throat, pleghmy, sneezy, yucky whatever that he managed to develop over the weekend. Feels like someone is dragging razor blades every time I swallow.....

Oh well, such is life. Am off work tomorrow anyway because is DH's 30th so only 5 more days in the office. I have so much washing to do etc, bag is only half-packed, so if I was to go into labour right now, I am completely unprepared and that is a rather scary thought.

Day sounds good GYo (except for the big bill part - enjoy). Off to get myself some breakfast and try and figure out what I am going to do with the day...

Starshinetiger · 19/02/2009 11:06

GYo, yes, nesting in full force, but as you can see, am easily distracted by MN! I have let it all slide so much over last few months that need to have a good spring clean before baby arrives. Tomorrow DS at home all day though, so need to get chores done today and tomorrow we can go shopping - he loves running round the shops (play centres out as it's half-term, will be too many big kids around).
Gruff - good to see you post, nice to hear you will be getting some time off next week. Your sister sounds fab - does she fancy coming over to ours too to do some decorating. I have the paint ready to paint the downstairs loo and it's on my list for next week!
Sorry to hear you are ill Cosmo, but yay for only 5 days more work til mat leave .
Enjoy hairdressers GYo (except bill). Reminds me, must book some pampering in for next week.
If you see me on here again before kitchen is finished, send me packing!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 19/02/2009 11:28

Just posted on FB wagon group about a coffee meet up in surrey....

Off to hair dressers soon so better get dressed.

Bye for now

GruffaloSoldier · 19/02/2009 12:10

Cool, Gyo - I have just posted on there

Hey Star - gd your nesting is off to a good start. Im afraid Im keeping my sister to myself though as mine is not

Im going to have a bath now and then me and DH are off into town. I love that he works in a school and gets all the holidays! Its so nice to have him around.

'see' you all later

Diege · 19/02/2009 14:05

Just off for appointment, and feeling stupidly nervous. Honestly, I swear if they start poking about and looking for more 'markers' I'm just going to get off the scanning table.
GYO, hope hair goes well - what sort of highlights do you have?
COSMO, sore throat sounds horrid, just what you need . How has the sickness been recently? DD3 woke up with a very 'husky' voice today and announced that she sounded 'like a woman'
GRUFF, the next few days sound fun. Must be great to have a DIY expert in the family. Lots of opps for shopping too!
STAR, can't beleive you are cleaning behind appliances - don't think I've ever ventured there in my life!
Right, better get off for the bus. Speak later x

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 19/02/2009 14:24

Thinking of you Diege and hope all goes well.

I made it to my facial but it was tight!!

Also had a stroppy phlebotomist take my blood. MW had give me instructions to not have anything to eat or drink after midnight, drink 410ml of Lucozade at 7am, get to Pathology for 8.45am and then there shouldn't be too much of a wait for me to have my blood test.
I followed all instructions and got called in at about 9.25am. Phlebotomist asked when I'd had my Lucozade and I said between 7 and 7.15am and she said "Well weren't you told you needed to have your blood taken 2 hrs later? It's too late now!" I told her what I'd been instructed and she said "Well I'm not sure there's much point now. You may have to have the test repeated."
In the end I just said to her "I don't understand what you wanted me to do differenlty?" and she then said "Well nothing. I'll do the test and write the timings down and they can take it from there."
I was a bit stumped that 10 minutes was obviously so critical! Maybe it is but I was never told and there was no one there this morning to tell as it was done on a take a ticket and wait your turn basis. When it was your turn, your number appeared on a screen and told you which room to go to!

Anyway, I was glad of the facial afterwards which was luurrvely. V indulgent

Re: Surrey meet up, I have posted on FB but as I've said on there don't feel you have to work round me!

IDOB - yay for adding yourself to the list!!

LB - fingers crossed for the sweep!

Hello everyone else!

Hope everyone else is having a good day!

GruffaloSoldier · 19/02/2009 16:03

Im trying to get things done but things are progressing very slowly. Having a rest now. I dont seem to be able to do much these days. Im getting lots of aches and pains and generally feel like im going to explode with frustration Plus I keep getting very angry about nothing. Grrr!

Having a friend over sounds good.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 19/02/2009 17:46

Hello

Just back from the hairdressers? weirdly like you Gruff I was thinking it was the last time I?d be doing that before a big life change!!
Off to NCT again tonight (second class this week and we have another on sunday!) - tonight we are doing breast feeding... but so tired I hope I dont fall asleep!

Diege- Hope the appt went ok? let us know when you get a chance?
I have ¾ head blondy/brown mix? Hair is naturally brown with light and auburn tint depending on the light/ season. So looks much lighter now. I?ve realized that I really need to cut my hair down so that is less costly? practically need to re-mortgage the house to pay for it at the moment HOWEVER, am very pleased with the results..

Tink- good for you for getting the house sorted?. Do we have a thing going now to see who can go shopping soon after birth? ? Wondering if online shopping counts

Gruff- Fully understand frustration of not getting things done.. so annoying when they are things that would normally take 5mins- now taking 30mins due to need for a rest. Hope aches aren?t too bad.. Im sure seeing your sisters will be good therapy. I cant believe you are 32wks either! Really flying by?

Ses- sorry that happened about the test? you?d think they?d ensure you were tested in time ? how are you to know the deadlines? hopefully results will be conclusive anyway. Enjoy your evening with a friend, sounds lovely.

Have just written on the FB coffee wall again?

Cosmogirl · 19/02/2009 17:47

Hey,

Hope appt went well Diege.

Shopping sounds good Tink - been cooped up all day inside the house which has been fun - not..

Re: sickness, afraid it is just getting worse every day now. I am not throwing up but the nausea is much stronger now and well, I am in bed at 17.40 so I guess that says it all.... Gone off evening meal type food as nausea is worse in evening, so just tend to go to bed early and try to sleep. Least then that is another day of being pregnant out of the way.........I'm really fed up of it now tbh....(sorry to moan)

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 19/02/2009 17:48

LB- are you lurking? hope the S&S went ok today... got my phone waiting in case you have an update !

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 19/02/2009 17:49

so sorry you are feeling so poorly cosmo.. its crazy how bad you've had it... doesnt seem fair.... but it will soon be over.

Hope you can get some rest and that will help nausea.

Cosmogirl · 19/02/2009 17:52

Hi GYo, thanks I know, sometimes I just get so angry because I can't understand why I've had it so bad and it just won't go away....think I am just having a down day. Need to try and be happy tomorrow as it's DH's 30th and we have to go out for a meal at 7 pm with friends and family.....hopefully I'll be feeling up to it.

Diege · 19/02/2009 18:15

Hello! Well today must be crap hospital appointment day . My consultant wasn;t there so saw one of the drs instead. What a waste of time, truly hopeless, she didn't have a clue. Struggled to find heartbeat even though baby was kicking away merrily at doppler which should have given her a clue as where to look. Got there in end, though had to remind her to test my urine sample, and take blood pressure . And an hour long wait to even be seen...
Sorry about your experience SES - sounds like the facial was worth the wait though!
COSMO, really hope you feel better soon xx
TINKS - good going on the shopping - bet those verbadet outfits fit now!
GYO, hair sounds lovely. I personally would rather starve than go without my 4 weekly colour appointments - but is a real drain on the old finances I agree, so may well have to starve..
Right, time to give dd3 her tea then have a relaxing evening I hope! dh and dds back tomorrow.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 19/02/2009 19:03

for bad hosp appt Diege. Does anyone ever see their consultants? I wonder if they actually exist or are just a name

my experience of the doctor i saw in place of consultant was similarly rubbish... she barely applied doppler to my belly (2secs max) and drapsed the tapemeasure to do fundal height so gave completely wrong reading. How can they be so crap but paid so much more than MWs...!

got to run, nct now!!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 19/02/2009 19:12

Evening all. I'm eating so much its ridiculous. I've just had a whole pizza for tea and I'm sat here wondering what to eat next!!!

I saw my consultant GYo after having a complete tantrun at the guy I saw in his clinic...I wanted a homebirth but they wanted me in the hospital, despite no issues. I was told at 20 wks that I could have a scan at 37 weeks and if all was well, they would 'sign me off' for a home birth. (I didn't know back then that I was entitled to one anyway!) Anyhow, when I went back at 37 (or was it 34?) weeks, the bloke I saw laughed and said that once under consultant led, you never got OK'd for a homebirth. Cue lots of tears, tantrums and general assertiveness (I believe I told him to 'and you can take that smile off your face, I am NOT happy' ). Oh well, it did the trick, they booked me in to see the actual consultant who I had a big discussion with, before getting the big thumbs up.

As you know, I ended up with an EMCS anyway and when leaving the hospital, bumped into the consultant who clearly remembered me and asked how I was - we both shrugged and laughed about the fact that you can't plan for everything...

God, I could rant about my ante-natal care, consultants, hospital care for ever, it was truly bloody awful. I'm just so glad I'm strong enough to be able to look after myself to feel able to do it again

Sparklytwinkletoes · 19/02/2009 19:15

Sorry, that was quite ranty and me orientated - but quite helpful to get bits off my chest every now and again, especially as I guess I'm going to have to face some elements again at some point in the future.

I believe I'm officially 7 weeks today and so far, so good . Fingers crossed it continues.

However, I'm not only selfishly posting all about me, but I'm also going to get in the bath and then go to bed. Night all! Hurrah for Friday tomorrow!
