Tink just happened to me recently with my cc (paid at the bank in cash the day before it was due, and thought that I would be in the clear...) Worth a call to see if they'll waive the charge. I agree with Diege, they'll often do it for a one-off.

Gyo when we were at our scan, the sonographer said something about "your son or your daughter" We asked her if she could tell at that point and she said she could be about 70% sure. So she zoomed in on something, which I thought was the willy (but was actually the face!) and I said Oooh, it's a boy! And she didn't say no it's not. Then she asked us if we wanted her to take a look but when she tried, the baby promptly rolled over (see pic of baby's back in my profile! ) It could be all speculative, but beyond that I've just got a feeling. I guess we'll find out in about 6 weeks!

Astarte · 04/02/2009 15:45

Hmm, I'm quite swollen right up my thighs (pitting oedema). I've had my feet up for a while now and it's not going down.
I wonder if it's just the end of the pg or something I should get checked out.
Don't see m/w until 40+1, which is a week today.

What do you think girls?

Diege · 04/02/2009 15:53

Hard to know ASTARTE, as swelling is a sign of pre-labour (so it says in those books!). However, if I were you I'd ring the community midwife - might be worth them popping round to have a check. I had same (but all over at 39 weeks 2 days with dd1, was admitted to hossy and had her same night. I never found out if there was anything wrong as my 'continuous urine monitoring' bottle was in the same place as I'd left it 3 days later

NatalieJane · 04/02/2009 16:01

Sorry got house full will catch up in a bit, but Ast get it checked, PE is potentially v. dangerous, don't mess about with it. Swelling, especially if it's pitting should always be checked. Go double quick if you have any visual disturbances, head aches, top of bump ache ( don't know what else to call it!) if you are weeing less or not at all despite drinking plenty, if hands and face are swollen as well, or any other signs of PE (feel like I'm teaching that old gran to suck eggs here, am sure you know it all!)

Mikey is now 9lb 12, so that is 1lb and 10oz in 2 weeks Jumped from 9th to 25th centile

I will be back...

Astarte · 04/02/2009 16:02

I have rung them Diege. She said to contact GP if worried, but that as BP is okay not to worry.
I suspect it's linked to pre-labour too. Just weighed myself, def not imagining it, as I'm 4lbs heavier than I was yesterday

Astarte · 04/02/2009 16:04

Ooh, don't know about face Nat, but my hands are puffy too.
I've contemplated taking my wedding ring off as the skin feels tight.
Bugger, better ring GP then?

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 04/02/2009 16:09

No harm in getting it checked Ast. Esp if 4lbs heavier since yest, thats some retention of fluid. Are you weeing? (not right now just generally)

Though my MW said to me yesterday that swelling was a healthy sign in preg! THough I think she meant, slightly swollen ankles vs full swollen legs....

ohsnap · 04/02/2009 16:11

I'd ring the doc if I were you Astarte, better to feel a bit silly for panicking over nothing than miss a potentially dangerous problem.

tinkisluvingbeingamummyagain · 04/02/2009 16:32

rang charges dropped
thats great nat

lastboxoftampons · 04/02/2009 16:36

Also think you should get checked out Astarte - better to be safe than sorry. And as you've done this a few times before and this is giving an old pro like you even the slightest bit of concern, I think that's as good a reason as any to call!

kayzr · 04/02/2009 16:37

I agree with everyone else. Give the GP a ring Astarte. It is better to be safe than sorry.

We have just sorted out the cupboard under the stairs. It is not organised and it doesn't look like everything is about to fall out. I also found a bag full of my bigger sized clothes from after I had DS1 so I am quite happy.

I am going to make a list of everything that needs doing. If DH is going to be at home for a while we can get things done.

OP posts:
glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 04/02/2009 17:21

Ast- i'd agree with getting checked over 'just to be safe'

Kay- good going on the tidying!!

I'll soon be making a start on bringing baby things we'll use downstairs out of our bedroom, setting the cot up, and will have to re-jig under our stairs so i can fit the pram under there when its not in use... Hopefully DH will be able to take the futon from the DC's room to my sisters soon so we can get the train table out of the dining room and in their room, and the playhouse and playgym that are also taking up loads of room in the dining room since xmas can get up/in the shed.

DD ended up getting a half-hour nap, and just as i was about to drop off DH phoned me!! Typical!!

Good going on getting the charge reversed tink!!

kayzr · 04/02/2009 17:35

I did mean to say that the cupboard under the stairs is organised.

The only problem is that if something needs doing DH won't do it unless I start it and then he makes me sit down.

OP posts:
glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 04/02/2009 17:44

Thats the same as here Kay- with DH everything is 'in a minute' (ie- in about 5hrs when you have decided to do it instead), 'tommorrow' (ie- normally about 12mths later he'll remember but its been done yet again), or 'on my next day off' which is normally never!! And then he moans that i now nag him to do something!!.... becasue if i left it to him it'd never get done!! Haha!! BUT.... if i start doing a big job i've said we'll do together then he'll get up and do it and make out like he was gonna do it all on his own!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 04/02/2009 17:47

It also annoys me that when things get on top of me and i let the house slip a bit (like when i was really sick) he'll spend his days off walking round with a bin bag binning anything he feels is rubbish, and 'tidying' things like the PC desk etc when i'd much rather he put the same effort into washing pots, putting the washer on, putting clothes away upstairs, hoovering, dusting etc!! His idea of tidying is completley different from mine!!

kayzr · 04/02/2009 17:50

Above the window in our living room it hasn't been painted. It really annoys me and DH has been going to do it every weekend since the middle of November. I might get the step ladder down from upstairs and do it myself.

OP posts:
glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 04/02/2009 17:53

Haha- My bedroom is still half painted- he has till the baby arrives or i'll do it myself- if i have to do it i'll be mightily annoyed!!

Astarte · 04/02/2009 17:59

Back from GP's. BP higher than usual for me, no protein in urine though.
Have to keep an eye on swelling and go back on either Friday/Monday to have BP checked again with the practice nurse, depending on how I feel.
Will see m/w on Wednesday too.

at 'old pro' LBOT.....

Good news on charges tho Tink.

Meant to say that' a good weight increase too Nat

tinkisluvingbeingamummyagain · 04/02/2009 18:19

dd1 has been a right pain today
it is nowhere near as hard with 2 as i thought it would be dd2 is a star
glad u got on ok @ drs astarte
dh cut 2 of my rings of as they were leaving red marks.
have dad coming over tom and hv
what age do u ladies put baby up stairs to sleep in day and @ night?

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 04/02/2009 18:23

with DS he went in his cot for daytime naps from about 6mths, and in the cot from 7pm from about the same age onwards, with DD daytime naps have always been in her buggy/pram/moses basket (depending on age) as DS still has a nap so they'd just play if they were both up, but for bed she went into her cot from 7pm each night from 3mths. Dont know how i'll feel with this one, hoping the same as with DD, she was a good sleeper so it seemed easier than it was with DS.

Astarte · 04/02/2009 18:26

From about 2 weeks during the day in cot to get them used to the room.

We co-sleep on a night until either we get sick or no one is getting sleep, then they move into own room.

Previously with Dd1 for instance it was 6 weeks, she couldn't settle in our room in crib ( we didn't do AP then), she slept through from 8 weeks.

Ds1 refused to sleep with us and was better from week 2 in the nursery, he slept through from 9 weeks.

Ds2 was first full co-sleeper and didn't even manage one night of unbroken sleep until 13 mo We didn't know what had hit us.
This did coincide with weaning off the breast though, so I would imagine that had something to do with it.

God only knows what this one will be like

Tink, there's plenty of time yet , wait until she's at least gone through teething before mentioning how easy it is, we don't want you tempting fate

kayzr · 04/02/2009 18:31

I am tempted to start putting DS2 upstairs for naps but I can't help thinking it is going to be a hassle as he feeds every 3-4 hours.

I can't put him up when DS1 goes up as I don't trust DS1.

OP posts:
glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 04/02/2009 18:32

right i'm off to get DC's in bed and watch my soaps. night!!

Diege · 04/02/2009 19:47

Night Glask! I'm off too - bot more marking, waterlook road, then bed I think.
Glad things are going well TINKS I always though being pregnant with a toddler was harder than a baby and a toddler. As ASTARTE says though, there's time yet
Oh and re: upstairs naps, I am probably in the minority here but put dds upstairs in moses basket from day one for regular naps in a room with blackout blinds. dd2 onwards, I followed Gina Ford - controversial I know, but it worked for me and dds were very happy babies. So if you need any advice on structured routines for newborns, I'm the woman to ask (don't all rush!)
Speak tomorrow xxx

kayzr · 04/02/2009 20:32

Diege and Ses, do either of you or your friends know anywhere nice but fairly cheap to eat in York?

I want to take DH for something to eat and I thought we could go to York instead of our usual cantonese.
