Just about to throw the laptop through the window here trying to 'do' the Boden sale. SO slow. Grrrr.

Ann - Sorry to hear about your legs. Totally dominated things for me last time for about 6 weeks and drove me v. nearly insane. I found out later that it's been linked to anaemia, which I had last time (and the symptoms disappeared when I started to take iron tablets). This time I've been taking iron tablets since v. early on and it hasn't really troubled me. Don't know if that's the reason, but might be worth getting a blood test?

Sazzles - with you on the clutter. We're planning a cull this weekend. And then we'll pull the baby stuff down from the roof....

poppysocks · 04/07/2008 10:48

pertelote - same dilemma for here. On the basis that DD was distinctly tardy and we nearly went mad with nothing on but hanging around waiting, we're taking the risk this time and booking away. Last chance for ages too!

Sausageandmash · 04/07/2008 11:39

Just coming in to this Guinness book of records (for speed and humour) thread to say;

Someone really pulled me up short today - she's due in October and said, 'Not long for you now - it's next month, isn't it?' I was about to set her straight (oh, 8 weeks, it's ages, etc), when I realised, with horror, that she was absolutely right and that it really might happen next month. It feels like I'm on an unstoppable roller coaster ride towards B-day and sleep deprivation. I can't believe I WANTED and STROVE towards this - what was I thinking of!!

And obviously, some of you are now this month - holymoly!!! NOW I understand the obsession with hospital bags!

Love to you all, particularly those who are going through tough family things or having to cope with uncomprehending husbands/partners. All I'm having to cope with is an unfortunate transformation of my symptoms - on the plus side my acid reflux seems to have lessened but has instead been replaced in direct proportion by an inability to breath like a normal human being, instead having to take great big heaves of breath every now and then. Ah yes, the joys!

cyteen · 04/07/2008 11:42

Hehe, S&M I keep having the same thing. I find that saying I've got 2 months left is much less scary than saying 8 weeks

I'm having the breath thing as well, think it's to do with baby's positioning in my case - it's hard to find a comfy sitting position because his head is so wedged under my ribs. Still, I feel good today because I slept really well despite him waking up just as I was drifting off and deciding to give me his best Riverdance impression Strange rippling sensations all over my insides!

Sausageandmash · 04/07/2008 11:44

Pert - I'd go for the tickets - if you do end up going into labour I'm sure some friends can take them off your hands. It's like rain - if you take out your umbrella, it won't. If you don't, it will. (Well, obviously I'm not guaranteeing this, but the Law of Sod is fairly consistent!)

CC - your bump looks great - I wish I'd thought of keeping a photo diary of hillock becoming hill, etc.

And Happy 4th of July to our American friends. TS - I am vvvvvv jealous of your hospital. I'll be lucky to get my own broom cupboard, let alone one with a view!

Sausageandmash · 04/07/2008 11:46

My internal Vesuvius has gone quite at the moment Cyteen, so I'm getting a bit more sleep than normal. AND very excitingly, I've got myself an amazing pillow with 'wings' on either side and sausage-y bit for my legs. It's great! And it also doesn't feel like I've constructed an enormous wall of pillow in between my husband and me!

Buckets · 04/07/2008 12:35

Right ladies, get yourselves off to M&S! They have a £10 deal for which you can get a huge posh chicken (or veg moussaka), side veg, bottle of wine (for cooking purposes) and 2pack of choccy puds!
Luckily our M&S is in the same complex as a big Sainsburys so I got my £10 deal and did the rest of my shopping even cheaper. They have some orgasmic Canadian cheddar (ie strong and salty) on BOGOF too.

TwilightSurfer · 04/07/2008 13:17

REDWHITE&BLUE BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM {those are fireworks}

Thanks for the well wishes on this wonderful summer holiday. DD has been talking it up for days. I have to run out and get her popcorn, a watermelon, and tomatoes to eat during the fireworks this evening. (note: only the watermelon is typical of this day) For days we've seen little fireworks shows all along the river here as folks have been practicing for this evening.

I must say it was so nice to chat with Ann and ChaCha late last night.

Expectant, who cares what anyone says or thinks about you in a bikini...it's all about comfort for YOU! I've lived in mine for months with a few looks. WHATEVER

Captain, nice bump. It does look about the same size as the last one. Mine does too though but agree I feel 100times bigger.

Preparing for new thread. We will have a new one TODAY!!!

ChaCha · 04/07/2008 13:22

Vegetable moussaka - yum! Well i just finished the cooking for the day enough for us and enough for my friend whose DH has just had an operation and are also moving house within the week but she on knowing that i wasn't doing too good yesterday has also cooked for us, bless her, so now we are pot swapping and that means no faffing in the kitchen tomorrow hurray! After last night's curry up at 1am really don't fancy anymore take away [bleugh]!

Pillow with wing bits sounds great - i want one!

CC - love your pics, also wish i'd thought of that, think i did plenty with DS1 but not with DS2 or this one. Your piccies are fab.

Got the physio later so will try to nap with the DC in a bit - i am so desperate for some sleep. Can't bring fwd my consultancy but will be next Thursday and will have a date for my elective then, secretary reckons it will be at 39weeks which means around 3 weeks Monday or a few days thereafter...DH's b'day and our anniversary all at end of month...eeek! Have also asked my GP over the phone for some pain relief so got to pick up some codeine later (had to lol when she said 'it can make you sleepy') like i need anymore 'sleepy' stuff. She also told me that iron in form of veg won't really give me the boos that i need and that i must call m/w and get the iron injections sorted out...lovely!
And one more moan....my home help is no longer coming...she hasn't been too well for a while and says it's best i find someone else rather than letting me down. Did wait for her all morning! Does anyone know if there's an agency that arranges home help/babysitter at short notice for days that i get bad?

Ahhh...feeling better for ranto.

alittlebitshy · 04/07/2008 13:40

Hello all.
I went to bed mega early last nigth. twas lovely. I was aslepe by half 9. I stil woke up about 4-5 times in the nigth but getting some sleep early on really helped!!

Met miamla and pregnancy1 this morning. have just devoured cake I was sent home with. Yum!

Got a bit of a free afternoon. Dh collecting dd from school (early) for a dentist app, then they're going to the cinema and i'll meet them for some dinner (chinese at buffet place near cinema). Think I'll put a wash on in a mo, have some lunch then I might go and have a snooze cos I've a bit of a headache

Happy July 4th TS. Yum - watermelon - send some to us over here please.

Oh no chacha re your home help. What kind of stuff did she do for you?

AnnVan · 04/07/2008 14:49

Hi all! TS and chacha, thanks for the company last night.
Thanks for all the tips, eventually got to sleep by doing some major engineering with a bunch of pillows. Might try the tonic water idea.
Poppy,i'll bearthat in mind about anaemia, as it is I have to do morebloodtests anyway, because I moved an Medway PCT won't take results from another trust so I have to redo the tests.
CChacha can'thelp re home help, I just don't know - good luk though

TwilightSurfer · 04/07/2008 14:55

I have to RAVE. Chattanooga just scored the 2nd best city to live in spot from Outdoor Magazine. If you love hiking, rock climbing, water skiing, outdoor concerts, rafting, boating, baseball, bird watching, horseback riding, hang gliding, biking, fishing, or camping...THIS IS THE PLACE!! So for all my dear friends across the pond, one day you might want to plan a vacation to "Chatta-Vegas" as the locals call it. Once here you might not want to leave.

OP posts:
AnnVan · 04/07/2008 15:11

Lol Ts - up till now the only thing I knew about Chattanooga was the Glenn Miller song Chattanooga Choochoo. Happy 4th of July btw

Sibh · 04/07/2008 15:14

Sounds fab TS-- it reminded me of DS running in the other day having watched an Irish tourist board add shouting that we must visit the west because it looks really exciting. I had to point out to him that we live there already but not always in the sunny circs. of the tv ad.

I finally managed to eat something at about 11 today having been unable to face food other than bran flakes for a day or two. I thought DD was safely occupied because I could hear her chuntering away in the next room while I put butter on my crackers. It was when I heard her talk about special toothpaste that I knew I was in trouble. Now I've got one very mashed MAC lipstick and a v. colourful child . Aaah!!

AnnVan · 04/07/2008 15:26

Brilliant Sibh!! gave me a good giggle. Hehe. I've got all that to look forward to, huh.

TwilightSurfer · 04/07/2008 15:32

Sibh....where's your camera???? We need to see your lovely colorful child!!!

OP posts:
Sibh · 04/07/2008 15:36

I should have taken a pic, but attacker her with wipes instead. She was very cutely contrite. 'Sorry 'bout that. Won't do it again.' I might have thought about the pic if I hadn't been trying to scrape the stuff off the armchair!
