OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Expectant · 03/07/2008 05:41

Bigboy - hope you are not still up - thought I was the only one around at that time and that's because I'm 7hours ahead!

Friend of mine had ECV which she said was incredibly painful but did work. However she ended up having an emergency CS as there were other complications anyway.

Went to our first antenatal class yesterday. The first session was a complete waste of time as it was about nutrition during pregnancy (talk about after the horse has bolted). I did learn that ginger doesn't cause jaundice though (weird Chinese belief apparently). DH and I were sitting at the back trying not to laugh too loudly.

We then moved on to exercises. So I know how to do my kegel's correctly now. DH was taught how to massage my calves to relieve cramp but was rubbish at it and said later that this was on purpose so he wouldn't have to do it!

Cyteen - thought DHs family were pretty out there when it comes to being screw-ups but nothing to match that. Hope you and your Dad are ok.

Bealcain and Dizzy hoping to hear from you today.

Rain at Wimbledon - I spoke to soon yesterday morning.

Apologies for long post - have handed my notice in at work and have no motivation....

bigboydiditandranaway · 03/07/2008 06:15

Hi Expectant, woke up about 3.30 and finally got up an hr later, hungry! Where are you from with a 7hr time difference, i think i must of missed it on your other messages.

Haven't been to classes this time, already have enough to do with ds!

My mum has been so great, she's been taking home my ironing and is giving me a pedicure tomoz. Inl's are visiting on sat so will have to plan more nice things to do that will counteract their vileness! Should probably book hair appointment too for next wk.

bigboydiditandranaway · 03/07/2008 06:17

Your classes sound good if they're encouraging dh's to massage your legs, i think i'd keep saying that he does it soooo well, can he do it again tonight!

Expectant · 03/07/2008 06:27

I'm in Singapore. This is my first so thought the classes were worth a go.

Your Mum sounds great. I'm missing having my family around at this time but my Mum & Dad have already booked a flight out in September after my Dad retires at the end of August.

I really need to book a hair appointment. It really does not react well to the humidity here and it is even thicker now than before I was pg.

pertelote · 03/07/2008 07:29

Right, last day at work! Was it you Sazzles who finishes today too? Enjoy!

Morning ladies.

Sorry to hear about all the difficulties, sickness and discomfort. Esp. dizzy and cyteen. Sounds like you have lucky Dads though to have you for support. Don't forget about yourselves though!

V. of these last days at work. Shouldn't complain as that'll be me a week today, but SO much to do before then that it feels like years away and as I'm planning to come back need to make sure I don't leave too much of a mess!

Will, of course, bow to ALBS's superior access to the rules and regs of godparents, but we had a bit of a time with DD because I'm lapsed RC and went to RC schools. I therefore have lots of RC friends who we wanted to be godparents. However, as DD is christened CofE as DH actually goes to church, we had to glide over the religious background of our chosen godparents. We're not fussed by the difference, as we just want the godparents to be good role-models and supports, but I suppose that's not technically what it's all about! I guess it comes down to each individual vicar.

Right, better start getting through the pile of stuff on my desk... Have a good morning ladies!

oopsacoconut · 03/07/2008 08:33

Sazzles have a good last day, you too Pertelote - only 21days to go for me!!!!! Why oh Why did I decide to work so late in prenancy - at least I know for next time!

Expectant · 03/07/2008 08:58

Oops - I have 21 days left too (not including the 2 hours to go today) so I'm with you on that one...

oopsacoconut · 03/07/2008 09:18

Okay, I'm going back to bed!!!!!!! Just put my foot in my trainer and.............. the cat had just, judging by the warmth, vomited his breakfast into it!!! Phoned DH to come back from work (just across the road) and clean up after his cat and he just laughed at me then told the whole office who I could hear laughing too.

alittlebitshy · 03/07/2008 09:18

Well, I'll ask dh later but I'm pretty sure that, in dh's eyes at least, as long as the godparents are baptised themselves it doesn't matter what denomination they are. (I imagine if it was the other way round - ie RC church, there would be rather stricter guidlines an stipulations though). He is possibly more relxed about such things then some old codgers more old school vicars but.... anyhow, I will get back to you when I've asked him!

We finally watched The No 1 Ladies Detective Agency last night. When was it on? March? Earlier? we recorded it, started watching it then never got back to it. Was really good though.

Had better night last night. Did have an embarrassing moment which i don't think dh witnessed - phew. I was sliding out of bed elegantly elephantinely to go to the loo, only I slid a bit far and kind of slithered onto the floor on my bum rather than putitng my feet out to catch me. Amanzingly I managed to get up without waking dh to demand being hauled back up though.

CaptainCaveman · 03/07/2008 09:50

Oh albs, the glamour of pg!

Happy last day at work to sazzles & pertelote . I hope you get more in the way of gifts than I did ! Bitter? Selfish? Me?

cyteen lots of prayers and hugs for you. Families can be f*ckers, the beauty is you get to choose your friends. I have a brother whom I never see, nor do I want to. If I saw him I would call the police. Needless to say, I shan't be shedding a tear when he dies. I would go to his funeral though, just to be sure someone wasn't playing a horrid practical joke on me.

dizzy am praying for you and your family too. Please do let us know if we can do anything. Hows your blood sugars doing? I meant to say that between 4 and 6 is excellent control, the same as a non-diabetic!

Girls, so far I have yelled at ds 4 times this morning - twice for waking me up (once by scratching my face, once by kneeing me in the face), then twice more for farting about and crying about having too much jam on his toast. Patience CC, these things are sent to try us........Thank the Lord that nursery is only shut for one week!

VintageGardenia · 03/07/2008 10:28

Hi all, sorry about DS butting in last night, hope his bizarre chocolate-related ramblings re. hoovering Crunches, creme eggs rocking or whatever didn't throw you all off your stride. ChaCha I think you asked, he's 9 and believe me he is NEVER usually allowed to read MN! Even some of the thread titles are too for him. He thought it was hilarious that DS meant him, because DS to him is a handheld game.

Nice to be finishing work today sazzles and pertelote. Will be me next Wednesday, o frabjous day! I am T-28 today.

cyteen hope you're doing ok, and your dad too. I don't have experience of vile family members but sounds as if this was a really difficult old fellow (I am trying to be polite because he was your blood relation). Regardless of the relationship, it must have taken a toll on your dad, to have been the one on the scene, and so on. Look after yourselves. xxx

miamla what a lovely thing to have been chosen as godmother! Such an honour. I can tell you that my DS is Church of Ireland and he has 1 C of I godmother, 1 Catholic godmother and 2 Catholic godfathers - though as poppy says, maybe down to individuals? Our rector is quite progressive. But I'm sure it occurred to your friend to check already, so I would think you can relax on that front and get cracking on designing your christening outfit! Bliss, you can design something that doesn't have to accommodate a bump!

albs LOLling at your thumping exit from bed! I'd say your DH politely feigned sleep so as not to embarrass you!

dizzy hope you're doing ok.

oops - nice!!!

VintageGardenia · 03/07/2008 10:30

LOL at neurotic mothers. DP refers to MN as mums dot net, or alternatively "Do you think you'll be turning your computer off any time soon" with a look.

bealcain · 03/07/2008 10:42

Hi girls,

i'll have a proper catch up in a bit, but here's the latest. Was in overnight as iron levels dropped so possible blood transfusion which i haven't had. I got back yesterday evening but was so tired i went sstraight to bed. Had a scan yesterday to check position as was getting a wierd tickling feeling on my cervix. she's not breech but has a hand at her forehead and was sucking the other....very cute! Protein still present but no other P.E symptoms. So i'm still pregnant, still tired and still going!

DH eyes re much better the eye specialist gave him seroid drps and a concoction of other meds but he's getting much better. i'm dreading him going back to work on monday, he's been off for 5weks now!

Anyway that's about all the news from us, hope everyone else is well (i'll find out now) x x x

VintageGardenia · 03/07/2008 10:54

Crumbs bealcain.

Glad your DH's eyes are better. You must be shattered. I was fully expecting your next post to be from your DH announcing babybealcain. The suspense!!!!

cyteen · 03/07/2008 11:08

Ooh, great to hear from you bealcain and great to hear that things are looking up Hang in there!

miamla it was probably me moaning about nausea - the third trimester has been the worst for it by far, for me anyway. Think it's cos there's no room in there. I either feel sick, have no appetite, or fancy something but then can't get even halfway through it. Bizarrely though I still seem to be eating all the time. I've got a plate of crackers on the go right now, after having two Weetabix, two nectarines and a pear for breakfast

No word from dizzy yet, I'm guessing that probably means she's caught up with serious family business When you get back dizz we will all be here to virtually hug you xx

Congrats to all the work finishers, may you be plied with cake and showered with impractical baby gifts

Well, I shall be on me tod tonight as DP is going down to London for a reunion with some old workmates. I really need to motivate myself to write some more of my dissertation today, especially if I'm going to be visiting my dad in the first part of next week, but it's toooooo haaaaaaaard. Am sitting in my pyjamas watching Without A Trace

Been having lots of v amusing seismic belly activity today plus some not so amusing head-under-ribs wedging activity Seems like he's making himself even more comfortable in the breech.

AnnVan · 03/07/2008 11:22

morning all!
Congrats to all finishing work today, soon you'll be sitting at home like me!!
Caveman, I didn't get anythin from my work either, but I attribute this to the fact that so many people have left over last few months. All the people I was close to no longer work with me (sob). THinking about it, I think my employer is going through a staffing crisis, pretty soon there'l be no one left

cyteen · 03/07/2008 11:25

Morning AnnVan

Meant to include an up to date bump photo in my post above, so here it is at 32 weeks.

Buckets · 03/07/2008 11:29

Wow Bealcain, you know how to keep up the excitement.

My DH's office is getting the Big Announcement today about whether they will be closed down and made redundant. We are hoping that yes they will as he wants to quit after paternity leave anyway with or without anything to go to so obviously a redundancy package would be a Godsend as he doesn't know what he wants to do.

alittlebitshy · 03/07/2008 11:41

Bealcain - wow - good to "see" you!!!

Just had a nap. Feel a bit woozy after it , but will go and finish cleaning bathrooms then pop back on with some lunch....

hey everyone,

Good luck to all those ladies on their last work day today.. lucky things..

Glad thanks are ok for you bealcain and also for your hubbie big hugs

Thinking of dizzy xxx

TS for my third stage the last time they gave me the injection to release the placenta but it made be horribly sick for a couple of hours to the point i didn't want to cuddle my dd or speak to my dh!!! So this time around i am going to ask for baby to be put straight on me and allow the cord to stop pulsating and thenmaybe injection but only if anti sickness drugs are given too!!! Phew

I had not stopped eating this am.. had my prunes and a piece of plastic toast for brekkie and have just demolished a cheese and tomato sambo on brown and a packet of crisps.. not very healthy!!!

Off for some waxing (yuck) and a pedicure in a bit!!!!!

cyteen · 03/07/2008 11:48

Heh, Sazz you sound like a woman after my own heart re. the cleaning I am going to do some today though on the grounds that crawling about on hands and knees is meant to be good for helping breech babies to turn.

AnnVan · 03/07/2008 11:55

Major excitement!my nappies just arrived! (i no longer have alife obviously)
