Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ChaCha · 03/07/2008 12:02

Good morning girls,

Glad to see you Bealcain, don't think my iron is as low as yours and i feel tired a lot, you are coping so well! Glad your DH is better too, take it easy this week - or at least as much as you can while looking after everyone else.

Hi to everyone else and lol at cleaning bathrooms, i did mine the other day when home help was here and was v.pleased with shiny tiles and floor, i went in armed with toothbrush, bic of soda, lemons and sponges - 2 hours later all was shiny and new

Today's news: Lovely morning, get DS's all dressed up and ready to go out, we were all in good spirits and looking fwd to park/shops etc and test driving our new P&T that dear MNer friend sent us .. Get to the end of our main street and am about to cross the road when SPD kicks in with a vengeance and I am absolutely stuck, cannot even move half an inch to limp across the road. Traffic lights have changed so many times and DS1 is urging me to cross and pulling the pushchair and i feel so totally stupid. Call mum in an attempt to not look so stupid and try to move but no luck. By the grace of God DH has not left town yet and is nearby and comes to our rescue after parking vehicle and going home to get car. I burst into tears once home, felt really stupid and helpless and really sorry for boys whom i'd promised park and new DVD Guessing this now means no outings unless accompanied...grrrr! So here we are, back to the garden for fresh air. Have physio again tomorrow so between her and the osteopath here's hoping for some relief. Crutches did actually help me get out the car - all the weight going onto them i guess.

Thanks for listening again.
Is Libbysister still with us? Was wondering how she was as works near me. If you're out there LS - hellllooooo!

alittlebitshy · 03/07/2008 12:24

chacha your bathroom cleaning sounds a lot more environmentally friendly than mine - and to be able to use the words sparkly and clena afterwards makes me ..... Cleaning ours involves (esp while pg and need easy easy easy options) cif and sponge for sinks and bath (and shower that dh and lodgers use but didn't do that today cos it was doing that last week that made me feel dizzy), anti bac wipes for window sills, ledge and top of bin, parazone wipes and loo cleaner for loo, then later i'll sweep and mop floors (no hands and knees for me). They still never come up looking brilliant - I never quite get round ro removing dusty bits in corners and on all the skirting boars, plus they;re not particularly new/nice/fresh bathrooms. At least I KNOW i've done tham and they smell clean for a while too. Oh, changed hand towels and bathmats and emptied bin too - and wiped mirrors over wth cleany stuff.......

Just had a drink of water and some crackers and while I''m not feeling too dead am off to try and get my eyebrows threaded... back v soon - this time WITH LUNCH!!!!

xx to all

ChaCha · 03/07/2008 12:40

Can you bring me some lunch back? Purleeease!
DC are currently eating theirs but again i am at a loss as to what to eat - nothing really appeals to me..must raid fridge.

ALBS - LOL at our bathroom chatter! I watched a lot of Anthea's Perfect Houswife last year and bought the book thereafter and found those handy tips on using soda, vinegar, lemons etc... our bathroom is quite old and the tiles seem to get dirty so quickly, i cannot stand lying in a bath and looking at grime marks etc.. anyway feel like nesting today like i feel like a hike. Moan, groan....

Buckets · 03/07/2008 12:55

Oh Chacha poor you! I've not had any SPD-type pain since my bout of it weekend before last so am wondering whether I misdiagnosed myself. Got my first physio appt on Tuesday - should I cancel it (will be 35wks anyway) so someone more depserate can have it?

DH did not get made redundant today. He's going to be gutted poor lamb, he so wants out of the job. I have fobbed him off quitting since I was pg with DS, then he was off last year with stress so I really can't say no if he hands his notice in this month.

ChaCha · 03/07/2008 13:08

Am still here but with lunch this time then hopefully naps.

Buckets - Sorry to hear about DH, i meant to comment on it earlier post but duh forgot. On the upside would it be good if your DH was around more post new arrival? Pooh to a job that causes that kind of stress - hope it all works out.
As for your appt, i would definitely go! My first episode of SPD was at 35weeks with DS2 and it was diagnosed in the hospital where i spent 3 days not knowing what was wrong with me. Like what happened to me earlier today - no warning signs so best to be prepared. I know that tomorrow's appt she is going to give me some sort of exercise to practice..Please go!

alittlebitshy · 03/07/2008 13:19

chacha ow!!!

buckets what happens once dh does resign? How soon is he looking to find a new job? Poor thing - my dh was off with stress at the start of the year too, and that was awful for us all. Your poor dh thinking he had a window to climb out of but in fact having to stay and reisgn without payoff

Buckets · 03/07/2008 14:05

Well he's supposed to have been looking for a new job for the last 3yrs and I keep telling him to just stop working so hard! He works more hours than they pay him for anyway so I don't see why he can't just sit on his arse a bit more and have a '5oclock and out the door' attitude. Esp as it's a 50mile drive each way - I think he could help himself a bit more but men are so black and white aren't they? If it wasn't such a long drive he could take regular half days with all the holiday and flexitime he gets. Will have another chat about it tonight, I think he should go for condensed hours (ie 4day wk) as he works about enough each day already.
Ooh that felt good to rant!

poppysocks · 03/07/2008 14:21

Could you just indulge me a quick rant? Sorry...

I am getting SO fed up with people asking how long I've got left and expressing shock that it's not a matter of days due to the bump size, whether it be by eyebrows or just coming out and saying it. I've had 3 such encounters already today! Yes, I do have a big bump, but I'm all bump. I'm sure it being summer doesn't help as I'm not covering up with several of DH's jumpers (and yes I have eaten a lot in the last 7 months - you've all clearly sent your appetites my way ). Do people think it's a compliment when they say "blimey, you're huge!"?!?!? Grrrr.

Sorry. Rant over.

Sorry to hear things haven't worked out for your DH Buckets. We were there when DD was a few months old and DH was gutted he didn't get the pay off that we were going to use to spend the last few months of my mat. leave in a camper van in New Zealand. It's actually worked out really well though as so much changed after the restructure and his job is great now. Maybe the same for your DH?

AnnVan · 03/07/2008 14:46

ChaCha sound awful - please forgive earlier ignorance of the condition, it makes my achy painful hips sound tame!!

Bucket sympathise with your DH - my DP quit his job recently, he too worked more hours than they paid him for, did work that was not part of his job description etc. THen he was late one day cos of being in A&E with me till stupid o'clock am (I had hyper emesis - and they tried to make him go through a disciplinary. He decided he'd had enough and handed notice in straight away. Funny thing is he had a new job less than a month later - while as far as we know they still haven't replaced him - they went through 7 temps in 5 weeks!!

And Poppy - me too. Happened again today, also tired of people asking how long left, then asking if i'm having twins

Rant over

Buckets · 03/07/2008 15:48

Poppy I have the opposite, people can't believe I'm 34wks as it's a very neat bump! I'm 5'8" with broad shoulders and pelvis so I guess it's just about proportions and perspective. I'm not bothered by the comments as I know baby is fine and all my bumps have been neat and petite (even 9lb DS) but I know lots of ladies get upset about small bumps and would envy yours.

CaptainCaveman · 03/07/2008 15:49

Dizzy should be along later but just to keep you updated, here's a text I just got from her:
"...sorry not been on, things v hectic. currently sitting in traffic having been at hosp all morning, now trying to get back up north for wee one's play tonight. Mum not great but comfy at least. Will remain in palliative care ward over the weekend then move to hospice early next week. Any news on Bealcain?"

aw dizzy even in your trauma you still think of us!

Great news, bag, breast pump and monitor all arrived today so I shall play with those later. Off out now to a 4th birthday party......

Buckets - Likewise, neat bump, was the same with last two. Have no problems with that but often feels like i really am all baby.

CC - I was just thinking to myself 'WoW, her 4th birthday party already, lucky and very energetic woman' until i realised this was probably a 4 year old's party, duh!!! And Happy belated birthday if you really are lol!!!

AnnVann - Not at all ignorant. Wouldn't have known what it was myself if i hadn't been blessed with the damn condition.

I have done nothing all afternoon! We had a 2.5hr nap, DS's actually cuddled themselves to sleep which was beautiful and now they're playing while i sit on MN and count the minutes till DH is home and watch.

Good to hear DD is okay - feels terrible complaining about SPD when some of us are going through family illness and loss. Hugs to all x

update on the maternity swimming costume (I can tell that this is going to be one of the more important posts of today ...)

So, I bought a plain black tankini from ebay in the US and it arrived here without the bottom half. We wrote back the the seller who said that she was sure that she put it in the envelope but would send me a replacement anyway, which was kind of her, and clearly means that there is someone in the Argentine customs office who is walking around in half a maternity swimming costume.

Well the replacement bit arrived today, only with two bottom halves, instead of just one and so now it appears that I own 1.5 maternity swimming costumes.

When discussing this with the vicar he said that 60 hymn books shipped from the US also went missing, so maybe in fact there is someone in customs wearing half a swimming costume and singing hymns.

Re: Godparents - DH is catholic so the baby will be baptised catholic but apparently he can have a non-catholic godparent as long as he has at least one catholic one. I think that the non-catholic godparent gets written in the registers and promises just the same things as the catholic one.

ChaCha · 03/07/2008 16:58

Sazzles - Is today your last day at work then? I must've missed that.
My last day of work was at 25wks, 2005 as Term 3 came to an end, ahhhhh! Somehow even the commuting and work itself seems a breeze compared to these two somedays.

CC - Forgot to say congrats on your arrivals. Was more concerned with your parties he he. I think i have used our monitor a handful of times, will definitely need it this time round. And our cot never got used either is till packed away under bed. Breast pump good idea - forgot about that, think i need a new one - oh memories of pumping away to get 2ml of milk - i remember now hiring electric one and why....yup...it's all coming back to me now....yikes!

longwayfromhome · 03/07/2008 17:00

Oh, and on a slightly less flippant note, lots of thoughts for those in pain and having a tough time at the moment.

ChaCha · 03/07/2008 17:05

LWFH - LOL at someone wearing half tankini and singing hymns

I daren't ask what you are all doing for dinner? Will be too many texts to DH with my top ten wants.

cyteen · 03/07/2008 17:09

God, I'm so immature. Whenever I read about someone pumping on MN I make a little snurking sound

Good to hear that things with Dizzy are not too bad, although it does indeed sound very hectic.

Just spoke to my dad again, seems he's making good progress sorting out the old man's stuff. He phoned me from the pub over the road, having been toiling in the filthy flat all day, and seems in good spirits In fact he sounds more relaxed than I can remember him being for ages. I really think this has lifted a load off his shoulders, and for that I am grateful.

In stark contrast to my dad's toil, I've done NOTHING all day today. I'm still in my pyjamas! The shame

Buckets · 03/07/2008 17:16

Chacha we had pasta and Dolmio and cold chicken thighs.

longwayfromhome · 03/07/2008 17:20

onions, lentils, peas and green beans with rice and cheese

alittlebitshy · 03/07/2008 17:23

I asked dh about the godpareant thing as as I suspected (see this vicar's wife thing has seeped into me over the past 6 years) there should be no probs about an RC being a godparent at an Anglican baptism. All that matters is that they have been bpatised inot whichever denomination (he said therefore it might be awkward if there was a Baptist godparent cos they might not have been...).....

miamla and pregnancy1 yay tomorrow!!! Am aiming to get the bus cos I hate driving and parking so I may need some directions and may end up calling one of you panicking that i'm lost lol...

TwilightSurfer · 03/07/2008 17:26

I feel like a queen today grazing on slices of tomato and cumcumber, baby carrots, colby cheese cubes and wheat crackers while I lounge outside allowing the breeze to flow through my hair. I have also just accomplished the most amazing task of painting each of my ten toes with three coats each of nail polish. I must say the look splendid. DD is now dancing around in freshly painted toes as well. It's all about the simple pleasures in life.

Sazzles, take heart, your work colleges are not worthy of you or your anger...they are just small mites and would have only disappointed you if they had even slightly attempted to find any gift suitable for such a wonderful lady.

[I AM FULL OF IT TODAY, AREN'T I.]

Captain, thanks for filling us in on Dizzy. She carrying such a huge weight right now. And yippee about your new baby items. I get to pick up a few additional items on Saturday that a friend has left over from her baby. It will be like Christmas in July.

Longway, how funny about your swim suit.

All the talk of bathroom cleaning makes me think I should tidy mine..... later, I'm too busy pretending I'm a queen at the moment.

OP posts:
ChaCha · 03/07/2008 17:38

at painting toenails, couldn't even cut mine properly the other night!! Well done you! And your day sounds as it should be...

Cyteen - I did really LOL when i read your post especially when i re-read my 'memories of pumping away' LOL, i think my humour though is fading over the years Thanks for making me giggle.

DH's 'I'll be an another hour' at 4pm has turned into 'i'll probably be another hour' at 5.30pm so we've had a round of melted cheese on toast and i'm off to do online shop and get some finger paints out in the garden.

Thank you for being here today, think is the most posted for me in one day! YOu can tell i'm housebound. x

AnnVan · 03/07/2008 17:42

We'll be having Steak and Ale pie tonight - Healthy

TS - agree with you about simple pleasures. I went to see mw today for first time since moving out of London. I'm a little bit scared of her I think. Comforted myself by treating self to a manicure afterwards

Am currently cooing over cute fluffy nappies and lovely wrap with pandas on it
