Hi everyone

There's still some space in the old thread - Waddling Zombies and Dancing Babies so no need to start posting yet. Just thought I would get it set up before I go home tonight ready for all you insommiacs!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
sarahmikeandharry · 09/01/2008 11:31

Congratulations Gingermumi!!!!

Glad to hear of you delivery- eagerly awaing the details !!!!!!

sarahmikeandharry · 09/01/2008 11:36

just to let you all know got back from consultant-

does not recommend home delivery as i am overwight**

i know people much larger than me that have had home deliveries with no compications, and previous del was fantastic!!! Oh i was also overweight then!!!!

apparently its to risky as i could hemorrage!! cant everyone?

MW does not see a problem so now really confused about whether i am being totally selfish or should be bullied as i am fat!!!!!

so p*ed off i could cry!!!!

Sorry everyone but had to rant!!!

the Mw is coming tomorrow to discuss the birth plan so will make my decision then!!!

BOOHOO BOOhoo

leesmum · 09/01/2008 11:49

Ginger congratulations!!
How are you and toby doing? love the name btw, when you get chance fill us in, we need to know everything

Sarah it sounds like your consultant doesn't know his arse from his elbow anyone is at any risk from any type of delivery, i would stick to your guns and try not to let it get to you. Whats your mw like? is she more understanding?

BTW forgot to say hi at last to Trish glad you made it!!

trish12 · 09/01/2008 11:59

lol, thanx leesmum.

Congrats to ginger also!!

Well my midwifes confirmed the babys head is now engaged, so im made up there, hopefully the little tinker wont be too long now!!

sarahmikeandharry · 09/01/2008 12:21

Thanks Leesmum-

I understand the concern and their reservations etc, but i just feel like they are trying to hit targets or something- my pregnancy has been totally normal all the way through so i really cannot see why they are saying no!!!

MW's have been great, one thoroughly supportive and pushing for hb, the other not really sure- she is coming to the house tomorrow to discuss pros and cons so will have to wait and see.

The other thing is i live less than 5 mins drive from my hospital (told consultant this and he said it makes no diff i could die in that space of time if i bleed out) so i really dont understand why i cant see how it goes!!! i know its my choice but would rather have the go ahead of consultant as opposed to going against the grain!!!! and being labelled a pain/bad mother.etc

tyaca · 09/01/2008 12:30

oh congrats congrats congrats ginger!

Lovely pictures and gorgeous name. well done!!

violeta · 09/01/2008 12:44

Gosh, so much news!
Firstly, huge congrats to gingermumi! Looking forward to hearing the whole story.
And mini's babies must be on the way now as well? Good luck!
Ooh, we are getting close! It's getting so exciting now...

sarahmikeandharry: can you get a second opinion from another consultant maybe? I can understand you wanting their approval. Is it hospital policy though, I wonder, which may have changed since your last birth?

Welcome to trish - seems as if you're well on the way!

I'm so envious of all of you now on ML! I'm having more and more problems sleeping at night, which is making me a bit of a zombie the next day. Also, my priority at the moment is really sorting everything out for the little one's arrival and so not work... Still, only a few weeks to go!
Baby is really, really active most of the day and night - I do wonder how she finds time to sleep...This all probably means she'll have me running off my feet once she's born!

trish12 · 09/01/2008 12:50

thankgod oh holy thou someone else has bum pains!! cheers for that lucy, i burst out laughing when i read that, coz the only way i can describe that feelin is like shes going to pop out my bum !! can someone fill me in on these abbreviations, coz i dont understand not one of them, dont want to miss out on anything, lol

trish12 · 09/01/2008 12:59

Egg · 09/01/2008 13:00

OH MY GOD. I pop out for the morning and come back and there's a baby announcement!

Massive congrats ginger, you must be over the moon. Did the fibroid cause the emergency c-section? Look forward to hearing all news. Toby is a goooooorgeous name and OH MY GOD I have just seen your profile and his name is perfect for him as he is also very very gorgeous. Oh I am so broody now. Well done. I have another "nephew" heheehe.

Will post again once DS is asleep hopefully, just wanted to get some congrats in .

Egg · 09/01/2008 13:01

Just wanted to say I had lots of bum pains last night too...

trish12 · 09/01/2008 13:16

lol, these bum pains are becoming a bit of a fashion, , sure its not our moaning fellas, id love to see them go thru this, even just for a day!!

MERLYPUSS · 09/01/2008 13:18

Toby is a real cutie. Just been to a friends house and her sister (has a 4mth boy) left a bin liner of baby clothes for me. 2/3 chance that one will be a boy so not too worried about the 'blue' bits.
To other twin expectees - do you find that people are very generous with hand me downs etc or is it like that for any expectant mum?

Jambuttie · 09/01/2008 13:37

Morning ladies- what a wild windy night it was !!!

Mini wasn't induced last night and is still awaiting it happening.

They had to close the labour ward at our local hospital as they have no more room for labouring mummies- they have only 9 delivery suites and 13 ladies are in labour.

As soon as the backlog has cleared she will be given the 1st load of gel.

Will update you all with any news

leesmum · 09/01/2008 13:51

Jambuttie thanks for keeping us up to date, give mini a huge hug and good labour vibes off us lot xxx

manamana · 09/01/2008 14:39

Ginger - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! How exciting. Did you have him at St Richards? If so I was there on Saturday!!!!! I was the one being pushed around in a wheelchair on the hospital tour.
He's gorgeous, although no suprise there having seen the pics of your daughters - what a very fine-looking family!!!
OOh, too many !!!!! sorry
Am very chuffed though cos had opened up the laptop to come on here and moan cos am feeling sorry for myself (discovered I have piles - or at least I think that's what they are - another thing to add to list of malfunctions!!) and your news has got me grinning instead.
Jambuttie - send my love to mini, that truly isods law isn't it that she's there ready to go and they are full - hope they empty out quick!

bubblesbabe · 09/01/2008 14:52

Ginger- huge congrats to you and welcome to Toby - love the name xx

Egg · 09/01/2008 14:54

Ginger I agree, you and your brood are all a bit stunning! You look fab yourself in those Christmas pics.

Jambuttie thanks for update. Poor mini she must be so fed up and so uncomfortable.

I feel fab (well as fab as you can at 36 weeks) again today. It's almost worrying. I am hoping it is just because of two good nights of sleep.

Just had health visitor over to discuss impending arrivals etc. She was lovely and said I seem to be very calm and on top of things. Lucky she caught me on a good day hey????

Trish, abbreviations are all explained if you click on link at top of page (to right of title "useful stuff") called ACRONYM LIST. It will explain that DS means Dear Son, and DD means Dear Daughter, PIL is Parents In Law etc etc. Lots of amusing ones there too.

Merly I have not been inundated with stuff . But maybe because I already have a DS already. My sis already gave me everything, boy and girl when I was pg with DS. My friend with 18 month old twins gave me a few bits (she would have given me more but I didn't need it) but I know she was inundated with things when she was pg.

Sarah - am outraged on your behalf . You must be so angry and upset. Slacker knows a lot about homebirths and am sure will give you some advice. As you say, you have had a healthy pregnancy with no complications. I hope your midwife is helpful and you manage to get the home birth you deserve.

Slacker · 09/01/2008 15:09

Bet you can guess what advice I'll give you Sarah - tell them to bog off! You don't need anyone's permission to have a homebirth least of all a consultant who would have nothing to do with it anyway. And don't worry about being seen to be a 'troublemaker', you often get a better service that way as they don't want you to make a complaint. They only bully people who allow themselves to be bullied. (Which is why I've opted out of the NHS this time as I just wasn't up for the fighting that I've had previously, but I would have got what I wanted if I had stuck with the NHS - starting with firing the midwife who told me I'd bleed to death at home lol!!)

If you want some more hb-oriented support join the HomebirthUK yahoo group, if you haven't already (have noticed a couple of mners there lately but not sure if you're one of them). And be reassured that the consultant is talking bollocks.

GINGER - congrats!! Sorry you ended up with a c/s but glad that Toby is here safe and well, lovely name!

Egg · 09/01/2008 15:17

See I told you Slacker would come along and talk some sense!

LOVEMYMUM · 09/01/2008 15:30

Ginger - congratulations!!

Will post properly when i have read thru the posts - am recovering from having a cold since Sunday.

Egg · 09/01/2008 15:37
