Lulubump · 15/11/2007 10:36

Good Morning

mixedmama · 15/11/2007 10:39

I reckon the way we chat we have at least one more thread before the post natal one.

OP posts:
Naetha · 15/11/2007 10:41

Bummer posted on the old thread - copy and pasted it anyway!

Morning all, hope everyone is feeling better what with sprained ankles and itchiness etc!

MW appointment yesterday was fine - BP has come down so that's a relief Also did some more shopping for the hospital bag - I begrudge paying £30 for a pair of pyjamas (in mothercare - daylight robbery!) or £10 for a pair of completely unsuitable pyjamas (I don't think hot pants are going to quite be me for a while!) so I've bought two pairs of black jogging bottoms for a fiver each, and will get a couple of button up vests on the cheap as well. Also given in and got mattress-like maternity pads etc. Can I also make a real recommendation for the tesco's short and long sleeve v-neck t-shirts - they're a fiver each, in a variety of (rather nice in my mind) colours, and long enough to cover the bump. I wear these all the time as I find the mothercare stuff shrunk in the wash (!) (and was stupidly expensive in the first place) and the Blooming Marvellous stuff is tent-like. I don't like tesco's for food (especially fresh stuff) but they've got some good clothes

I ordered some lilypadz the other day and they arrived yesterday - "tried them on" as it were, and they seem really quite cool - they just stick to you without being sticky...hmm . I don't like wearing bras at night, so hopefully this will get me round that - also I find the thought of milk-soaked breast pads rather icky...I'm sure I'll get used to ickiness soon!

Hope everyone is doing well - I'm very envious of the meet-ups, although we're going for a work curry night out tonight which I'm looking forwards to!

My DH (bless him!) has volunteered to do something for Children in Need tomorrow...and his office have decided that they will sponsor him to dress up like a woman (as frilly as possible too!) all day. FYI my DH is big, hairy, and fairly butch! The MD has now said that he'll sponsor him an extra £50 and buy him drinks all night if he goes out on a team night out in the centre of Leeds dressed like that! It would be rude to refuse! The pictures will be amusing anyway!!

sabinar · 15/11/2007 10:41

good morning everyone. yay! new thread

well. I'm looking on the positive side of having a badly sprained ankle and having a super restful day today... trying to minimise the number of times I have to hop up and down stairs for food... wish DH was here so I could call out for a hot chocolate and he would bring it to me.(I can't drink tea... gives me bad heartburn)

for those who are getting pubic pain, I just want to check that you're taking care to keep your legs together... (yes, it makes me giggle whenever I hear that) - they are v big on this at the yoga class I do. Apparently the bit of cartilage or ligament or whatever that holds the pubic bone together is getting all soft and stretch now and we have to be careful not to overstretch it... so you should be using both legs to stand up (in a squat kind of position) rather than putting all your weight on one leg, and just generally making sure that you're not doing anything that puts pressure on one leg and not the other that could strain the pelvis, or spreading your legs too much at all. At least, that's what I've been told, might be worth thinking about.

ok. I think I might go look at baby stuff to buy online Does anyone have a favourite place to buy baby gear online? I am currently trying to resist buying some of the v cute clothes on here: www.speesees.com

anneme · 15/11/2007 10:47

Hi Just popping in (from May 07 thread - feel v old!). Noticed someone had said something about itchiness - do check it out because it can, in unusual cases, be linked with the liver and they may wish to do some blood tests etc - also they can let you know if you can have piriton which helps! I had itchiness and they did quite a lot of tests - and i now have a 6 month old. Good luck all of you

MrsBiscuit · 15/11/2007 10:51

Naetha, PMSL at the thought of a hairy man dressed in frillies in the centre of Leeds. Good for him .

Sabinar - I'm still trying to hold off buying too much (planning to do a most of it when on maternity leave), but have ordered a few bits and pieces from Kiddicare and I'm still planning to get a nursing apron from here www.maternityandnursing.co.uk/

katyt1 · 15/11/2007 12:25

Hello new thread

re lilypadz, i was going to get them last time as i leaked big time from about 5 months to stopping feeding, but i was unsure about 'stopping' the leak? felt i might 'back up' the system? any thoughts?
and what is a nursing apron??

fruitful hi, the placenta thing sounds bad, sorry think i drifted away from MN in the middle somewhere so missed bits, but know you have been in hosp lots, going in again soon? what's the plan?

well i am desp trying to ignore ds who is doing anything except sleep upstairs. i have m/w at 2.20 so hoping ds gives up and sleeps soon (he normally does 2 hrs worth) or i'll have to wake him up hate waking him up. he's resisting his new bed bigtime at nap times, all right at night but i need the break midday as much as he does...

will try and find our list to keep me busy.
happy work vibes to those that need them......

Thanks Lucky, I thought there would be more amendments and otherwise we end up posting the list 56 times in succession like last time. Seeing all those dates makes it look very real.

katyt1 · 15/11/2007 12:51

sorry madmouse, did find a more recent one but now this has been updated shd i leave it?
everyone else, update it as you see fit.

think ds may have gone to sleep.....

madmouse · 15/11/2007 12:54

katyt1 please don't apologise!! You did the hard work of finding it in the first place. Gives us all an excuse to update .

beller · 15/11/2007 13:06

Madmouse/anneme - will check itching with the midwife, i dont have an appt until next wed, ok to leave until then do you think?

Naetha - Will look up lilypadz...I dont like sleeping in a bra either...Like Katy1 said, there is no adverese effect stopping them leaking alltogether? Well done for you DH being a sport

Mixedmamma - well done for new thread

madmouse · 15/11/2007 13:16

Beller, depends how bad it is. If you are scratching yourself raw and your hands and feet are itching badly it may be wise to get checked out sooner. Did it come on very suddenly?

MamaMaiasaura · 15/11/2007 13:33

I have fat fingers all swollen and sausage like. White knuckles and puffy red fingers. Stopping me typing too much No fair.

Hello new thread xxx

susiemj · 15/11/2007 13:50

Thanks MM - Told you I was feeling dozy!

Hello ladies - I'm aware that I'm getting WAY behind here but seem to have the attention span of a gnat at the moment. I can't concentrate AT ALL.

Feeling sorry for Amani (the sods! I'm sure yuo're fab), Sabinar (ouch!) and Angechica (hang on in there - it won't last forever). Know people who suffer from SAD too, Gingeme. It's not a joke, I know.

TMI question - is anyone suffering from a dicky tummy? Every couple of days I seem to get a slight tummy upset. I should be glad I don't have constipation I know! Maybe it's this which is making my head all fuzzy.

Waves to everyone - I am keeping up - I just don't seem to be able to put it into words at the moment.

OH! and something for you lovely ladies to bear in mind about weight. I have spent WEEKS of my pregnancy barely eating 1000 calories a day (half of what you should)and have still put on LOADS more weight than they say you should. I have no idea how. So, I have come to the conclusion that you have very little control over weight during pregnancy and might as well eat whatever you please (as long as blood thingies ar ok, of course). So! tuck in girls!I'm going to, now I can

Am mystified about maternity pyjamas too. Why are so many of them pale pink and blue? Do the designers know what happens after having a baby?

beller · 15/11/2007 14:10

madmouse -started about 2 days ago..and is worse at night....mainly legs/hips/arms....weird!

Cazzybaby · 15/11/2007 14:15

Hi to All, havent posted in so so so long!!

Hope you are all well, I have been busy working at a temp job for last 3 weeks, just realised I can get on mumsnet! Woohoo

Will try to catch up with all the news xxx

Cazzybaby · 15/11/2007 14:15

LuckySalem · 15/11/2007 14:18

Beller - Ive been told if you itch on your palms and feet you need to get it checked out as it's related to liver, normal itching doesn't mean anything as could just be the stretching of skin.

Susie - I've had diahorea (Sp?) a few days a week for the past few weeks, it's not nice is it? I assumed it was to do with the food I was eating. THEN I panicked it was the onset of labour (as that's what the books say can be an indicator) NOW I just make do with it and make sure I keep the bathroom door shut. lol

madmouse · 15/11/2007 14:20

Beller I would ring my midwife, but then I am a worry head. Not intended to panic you .

How are the babylympics going

beller · 15/11/2007 15:15

baby olympics going well.....s/he is still moving loads..just the extra niggles over last few days..pubic pain and itching!
hand and feet are k..its legs/arms and back that seem to be worse?

Im getting quite emotional at work...you probably reember im a money broker..so work with around 300 men and about 4 women.... The men are getting really sweet and inviting me to lunch/ asking me my plans/ telling me i look great ...I think im actually going to miss them!!
I now have lunch boked for almost every day im here with someone or other!!
Also off to Le Caprice tonight for dinner with a client!! really looking forward to it as its supposed to be fab, and likely to be the last "posh" dinner i get for a while! HAve also booked myself a company cab all the way home after
