ayrshirelolo · 18/11/2007 21:15

Hiya folks!
Feeling a bit crap today, got up this morning, had shower and fed dd then got dressed and dh took one look at me and told me to go back to bed. Think i might be getting a bit of the dreaded lurgy too, fluffy! Also have the week from hell coming up at work, i'm on duty, which means no flexi time early afternoons this week, just lots of working late!
Anyway, stayed in bed till about 4, and am going backsoon, just wanted to say hi!
Sorry not a proper catch up, hope everyone ok - lolo xx

LuckySalem · 18/11/2007 21:40

I still haven't got a nursery!! We only cleared it out a few weeks ago (been used as a "junk" room) When we bought the house we gutted it and have decorated all except kitchen and nursery. Nursery is bare walls (literally), no skirting boards, no curtains no nothing!! Am panicking now, can you tell?

Gonna do abit of wallpapering tonight, just a little bit.

I started a thread before about wierd boobs but no-one answered so am gonna ask you guys as well. My right nipple (and areola) are constantly rock hard (and mouldable?!) Also at night when I go to bed, my veins stick out LOADS.

MamaMaiasaura · 18/11/2007 22:18

lucky - my nipples are very errm firm atm too. I think it is all preperation. Also increased blood supply hence veiny.. We are using our old study/junk room as nursery. Not going ot bother to decorate it properly as moving hopefully.

Ayshire - Poor you, hope you feel better soon and it isnt the dreaded lurgy.

Am a right sweatybetty again. My pjs & undies completely soaked through. Am going ot have to have another shower/wash again. Slight panick i am leaking waters.

LuckySalem · 18/11/2007 22:24

I'm so glad i'm not the only one. It's freaking me out a little and I don't like it. Definately don't feel sexy much to DP's dissapointment.

MamaMaiasaura · 18/11/2007 22:34

Just another of the joys of pregnancy Dp is away atm but after our 'little' scare we have avoided all 'lurve stuff'.

Am about to have a lovely bath (again..) then i am sure will be up at least 4-5 times in the night. Am starting to get worried about the whole birth thing now.

LuckySalem · 18/11/2007 22:37

Awen - you're not the only one. I keep sitting awake at night thinking of all the nice stuff then suddenly onto the crappy stuff, like I want the cord to stop before they cut it and i've got horrid feelings I won't get that choice bcos i'll have to have a c-section or something. Really random!

Amani · 19/11/2007 08:35

Morning all

Luckysalam - I bought the Avent ISIS breast pump from EBay already. Last time I had such difficulty BF, that I expressed for about 3 weeks instead.

Talking about births - going to see mw tomorrow to discuss birth plans and record it in my pregnancy notes.

Had a rubbish night sleep last night, was awake from 2am and by the time I feel asleep, it seemed like my alarn was going off already.

Awen - am starting to worry about the whole birth process aswell now - keep having random dreams about contractions starting/waters breaking/having baby at work or not being able to have DH as my birthing partner. Just read your previous post - have your water broken?

Re-packed my hospital bag this weekend to add in a few bits and bobs - defo seems like I am going to need one of those massive suitcases instead!

to fluffymummy, arshirelolo and anyone else not feeling well.

mixedmama · 19/11/2007 08:49

Morning ladies,

Been busy over the weekend.

Apologies first, but I am not going to be able to make the meet upp tonight as have had a manic weekend of moving stuff back to old flat and have been vomitting since I arrived at work.. reservation 7 pm in the name of Miah for those who missed it.

LuckySalem - back to your questions abotu breast pumps and stuff. i think if you feel you really want to give it a go then dont buy anything, if you feel like you need them then you can get them anytime. Iff you do decide to get a breast pump you will need to sterilise the bits anyway and most sterilisers (well steam ones) come with bottles anyway.

On the subject of sterilising has anyone used cold water sterilising? I have my sterilisers from last time if I need then, just wondered if people still used cold water??

Lilyloo - congrats on the eternity ring, I drop lots of hints about this so lets see what happens.

Morning to everyone else. Hope you are all well.

Meant to say we done the hospsital tour yesterday as well. there were so many people visiting that i dont really feel we got the benefit of it, at my last hosp when i had DS we had a tour as part of our AN classes, so there was only about 8 of us, yesterday there was about 30. The pool room was really nice tho and I really liked the birthing centre so heading for there and will see how we go, the delivery suite was busy so we coulldnt see any rooms or anything.

madmouse · 19/11/2007 09:33

Morning all

Oh dear, we are a rickety bunch aren't we (apologies to all who are feeling top of the morning ). I dusted and vacuumed the living room, then cooked dinner and my back absolutely murdered me. Woke up 4.30 could not get comfy with pain from my bum down to my calf. Took my first paracetamol of the entire pregnancy (!) and went back to sleep, woke up all cramped. Oh well, babbit is feeling great judging by all the squirms and bounces .

Last week is my last week at work! One more Monday to go after this one!

madmouse · 19/11/2007 09:36

Lets make that next week shall we , need sleep.

Amani · 19/11/2007 09:43

Beller - I gather you're a 'litle' crazy over TAKE THAT . Saw Boyzone (!) on Children in Need on Friday - gosh how they have changed too. Used to love thier music before Ronan left.

I know this has probably been asked a million times before but am thinking of changing my m/l date to next Tuesday - struggling with lack of sleep and sitting at desk all day. Can I do a quick poll and see at how many weeks people are working up to?

If I leave next week it will be 35+2.

mixedmama · 19/11/2007 09:50

Amani I will be 35 weeks. Definitely enough. Do it you will not regret it. Plus think of the next few weeks with DD until LO arrives. We will never get this time back, that is how I am looking at it anyway.

OP posts:
beller · 19/11/2007 09:54

Well i do really like them..i bought 4 tickets for the london concert, then my mate bought 4 for the birmingham one,and gave me mine for birthday pressie, s couldnt say no
I leave at the end of next week and i will be 36 weeks exactly xx

madmouse · 19/11/2007 09:54

Amani, I will be 31+3 when I finish on 30 November, although I will do sone stress free work from home.

Lulubump · 19/11/2007 10:01

Morning all,
Hope you're feeling better mixedmama - has the vomiting stopped?

Amani - I was planning to work up until 36 weeks (until Dec 7th), but am completely shattered already, and next week my boss expects me to go to London on Tuesday for meetings, come back to Nottingham on Wed, then go back down to London on Thurs for a conference. I have asked to stay in London on the Wed, and work with my laptop, and he said no . He seems to be panicking a bit at the thought of me leaving, but don't know if I'll be able to cope with that!! Any ideas on how to get out of it??

Madmouse - I too am slowly starting to waver between energetic bursts of housework, and then agonising back pain!

Awen, did your waters break?

Mombanks - I don't live in West Hampstead, but the friend I'm visiting in a couple of weeks does Unfortunately, won't get to have boozy cocktails at Oooh lala this time - oh well, I'm sure they can do fun things with juice!

Love to everyone else - haven't been on in the last few days, and am now pretty lost...will track down Mrs McJnr posts to get all the goss.
Beller, enjoy your 2.5 day week!

sabinar · 19/11/2007 10:01

good morning all.

I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to make it to the meetup this evening either... my ankle is still in very poor shape and I'm hardly mobile at the moment. I don't think a sprained ankle is supposed to hurt this much 5-6 days after the event and am thinking that I might need to get to the doctor... although knowing the medical centre I'm registered at, I probably won't be able to get an appointment for three weeks. Do you think going to an osteo would be equally useful? (A different osteo I think... have decided my last one was a bit... weird).

This is so not what I needed... I've gone from feeling really pretty good a week ago to feeling pretty average at the moment. Can't stand being cooped up in the house so much and am feeling as though I have almost constant reflux at the moment (which I'm sure is unrelated).

ok. end of whinge.

re: birthpools - DH and I are trying to decide whether to get the birthpool in a box, or to get ourselves a Christmas present and splash out on a big fancy birth pool. We've found one that even does bubbles, and you get to hire it for 5 weeks, so we'd have it over Christmas and it would be like a jacuzzi in the house which then transforms into a birth pool. It is a bit extravagant, but also v tempting!

I think we're going to go for a hospital tour in the next couple of weeks... not that we want to go there to have LO but just so we know what to expect if we do need to transfer from home. Unfortunately, the evening tour is the same time as our antenatal classes so we'll have to wait until DH can get some time off work and go to the afternoon tour - hopefully less people then!

no sign of hospital bags or a nursery in our house yet, although I have resolved that in the next fortnight I'm going to get as much as possible sorted. Have decided that I hate 'real life' shopping now and will rely almost entirely on internet shopping. Every time I walk into Mothercare or John Lewis I feel completely uninspired... what's going on with that? I think it is partly because they sell so much stuff that you don't need - it makes the whole experience so much more confusing than it needs to be. I reckon there is a big market opportunity out there for someone to simplify this whole baby-buying palaver.

I don't think we're going to set up a separate room as a nursery just yet, as we'll have the LO in with us for at least the first few months. For some reason I think I want to organise his nursery once I've gotten to know him a little bit...

is anyone else using washable nappies? (speaking of being completely confused). I have been trying to get in touch with a one of those nappy advisers to come and tell me what I should buy... I just want the ones in pretty colours but gather there are other considerations... I'm finding it impossible to get in touch with anyone local. grrr.

eh. that's probably enough of a rant for the moment... I'm in a fine mood this morning, aren't I!

Naetha · 19/11/2007 10:28

Morning all

Sorry for those that are feeling crap - you're not alone though, I'll give you that!

The weekend wasn't quite as bad as I'd anticipated, although we had a couple of "frustrations" as it were with my stepdad! (Skip this bit if you don't want to hear me ranting, I just need to vent!) We came back from taking DSD out for a meal, and on the way we talked about watching a DVD and which one we'd watch. So we get home, all sit down in the front room and turn the lights down. So DSD starts chuntering away about nothing. Chunter chunter chunter... DH pipes up (after much sighing and dirty looks) "can you be quiet, we're trying to watch this film (Severance for those of you interested - quite scary but very very funny!). DSD then replies "Oh sorry, didn't realise you were watching it." What did he think we were doing? Did he think we had it on for background noise while we stared at the walls?? Argh!!

He then came down this morning at 7:38. He knows we have to leave for work at 7:40, like we have done every day last week. After morning pleasantries (no he didn't sleep well, the house makes funny noises...) he says we need to talk about the tiling. He makes it sound like it's very urgent. So while I'm rushing around trying to get my lunch sorted and finish my breakfast he tells me that the idea we all (i.e. me, DH, my mum and him) came up with, that they'd come up to visit after the birth doesn't suit him. Instead of him and my mum staying in a nearby B&B for two nights between 4 and 6 weeks after the birth, he wants him and my mum to come up on the 10th January (regardless of when I actually give birth - I'm due on 30th Dec) and stay at our house for a week while he finishes the tiling. He doesn't seem to realise that we're not going to want anyone else around that soon after the birth (we've made the first two weeks as a "no visitors for more than an hour" time) and we certainly don't want them staying in the house during that time! Argh!! I think we'll end up doing the tiling ourselves to be totally honest - much easier for everyone involved.

Anyway, I feel much better now I've got that off my chest

Can't believe I'm 34 weeks already - that's how far Myleene Klass was when she popped! Glad I've only got 2 weeks of work left, really starting to struggle, and in all honesty just want to go back to bed, or lie on the sofa watching trash

Tried those Lilypadz over the weekend (boobs leak horrendously at night) and they're absolutely amazing - they just stick to your boobs and hold everything in. A bit weird, but as long as the milk flows when you take them off I'll be happy

Ho hum, my brain has come to a halt - hope everyone is feeling good (considering the circumstances that is!) and has a good week

mixedmama · 19/11/2007 10:38

Naetha - frankly you may not (but I hope you have) have given birth by that point anyway if you went overdue and you soundd like you certainly wouldnt want them around that soon. feel for you hun. Stand your ground... are you able to speaak to your mum about it???

OP posts:
Naetha · 19/11/2007 10:51

I spoke to my mum about it last night, but I don't think my mum and my stepdad have spoken to eachother about it, hence the confusion!

I'll suggest that DSD comes up again before Christmas (we're meeting up on the 16th Dec for our annual get-together), and if he can't do that, then we'll just get it sorted ourselves.

Anyone else eating like a horse at the moment? I've eaten a HUGE bowl of bran flakes this morning, as well as a banana, a packet of crisps and a treat-size chocolate bar and it's only 10:45!!

mixedmama · 19/11/2007 10:55

I seem to be eating all the time always but seem to be being sick as well so I just think I need to top up.

OP posts:
Amani · 19/11/2007 11:00

Same here - want to eat but keep feeling ill.

Naetha - do what is best for you

Sent an email pff to personnel asking to leave next wednesday, no way will I be able to carry on until 7th Dec.

mixedmama · 19/11/2007 11:01

Sounds like a wise decision Amani.
