sparklygothkat · 16/10/2007 12:16

HV came, the tube has been put back in, horrible thing to do anyway she checked his latch and it wasn't right (but i knew it wasn't right) and then he fell asleep lol.

sparklygothkat · 16/10/2007 12:22

oh and he has now lost weight he weighs less than when he left SCBU, even after being topped up all day and evening yesterday.

iris66 · 16/10/2007 12:39

Sparkly - you poor thing. Now Callum's latch and tube have been sorted things should pick back up again thinking of you {hugs}

fiona76 · 16/10/2007 13:18

Hi all I just got a package from my mum in NZ. She sent me a beautiful gown, hat and shawl to come home from the hospital in. Also my granny knitted the most intricate and delicate shawl- too beautiful to use but a lovely family heirloom. My granny is in her late 80s so it is a real treat. My mum has also knitted some cardigans and other bits and pieces. Yes I held them on my bump and got very hazy around the eyes. I even wrapped the shawl up 'baby shaped' and rocked it in the craddle of my arms.

I can't wait for the baby to fill up all these beautiful things.

swollen · 16/10/2007 14:24

Hello all.I ve just spent an hour catching up on both threads and have to say im so glad that i did. honestly thought i was going into labour sunday night and spent whole night in a panic about stupid things and got no sleep! so good to hear that all my aches and niggles are exactly what everyone else is experiencing. You d think id know by now as this is no 3 but you just dont trust your self at times.

PS Wispas finally made it to N Ireland!!!!!

sparklygothkat · 16/10/2007 14:54

I meant that his latch wasn't right that feed, I could feel it wasn't right. Normally its fine and you can hear the milk going down. I am worried in case its something wrong with Callum.

littleoldme · 16/10/2007 16:49

Sparkly - big hugs

iris66 · 16/10/2007 16:56

Sparkly I'm so sorry you're having such a time of it. Though if the nurse thought things were bad she'd have readmitted him wouldn't she? If you're worried could you just pop him back for a full check. How do you feel instinctively that he's doing?

iris66 · 16/10/2007 17:02

fiona - I love handmade things too. And, as you said, the heirloom/emotional value is priceless. I've still loads of clothes my mum knitted for DD (sadly she never got round to doing any for DS or this one, though when she was up last w/e she bought a hand knitted cardi from a little shop in the next village, which is lovely)

swollen - i think you are entitled to be a panicpants no matter how many you've had (note to self whuilst I'm at it..... stop reading childbirth/hospital threads as it's only the abnormal things that are posted !!!)

fiona76 · 16/10/2007 17:53

I'm having a weird afternoon. The bottom half of my bump has gone really hard and the baby is moving around heaps. I think I'm having Bracksten Hicks and can't get into a comfortable position.
Is this what happened to you guys when you were having twinges??
I'm only 36 weeks so I'm sure its still to early but will keep an eye. Its DHs birthday tomorrow so maybe LO wants to give him a surprise present!!

sparklygothkat · 16/10/2007 20:33

He seems ok, sleeps a lot but dd2 did that too. He is alert when awake. And isn't dehyahated (sp??) he feeds well, so i don't understand why he isn't gaining weight

berrybliss · 16/10/2007 20:38

Oh sparkly i bet its frustrating . But at least you know you are doing your best for him. I'm sure his weight will pick up. I'm sure its reasurring that you have previous experiences, but i guess it doesn't make it any easier. Please keep us informed with his progress and more gorgeous pictures are always welcome. x

jetgirl · 16/10/2007 20:58

Thanks for the new thread RG. Very impressed with your DJing antics; I can't imagine staying awake until 2am at the moment, let alone going out somewhere!

JARM - sounds exciting to be 3/5 engaged. I have MW appt on Thursday and think I might be told somthing like that, my bump has definitely dropped.

Fiona - I know pregnancy does weird things to one's sex drive, but Iam Beale? Really???!

Kayla - you sound like you've really been through it this last week or so. I hope the Wispas help and thanks for mentioning the fruit and nut toblerone, might have to send DH to Tesco to get some for me in a minute

Sparkly - I hope Callum starts putting weight back on soon. I echo what Iris says though, wouldn't they readmit him if they were really worried? Sending hugs.

Visited our friends and their 3 1/2 week old baby. I am now a confirmed baby-stalker and had a lovely cuddle with her. She spent ages staring at DD, which DD loved, and she too is a bit of a baby stalker now! Next Friday my friend is bringing her DIL and granddaughter who was born in August to visit us. Can't wait!

Found out at the weekend that a good friend and colleague is expecting her first baby. I had an inkling she was pregnant as she had asked an awful lot of questions about folic acid and diet recently, the kind of things you would only expect to hear from pregnant women. I am so thrilled for her, and can't wait to see her with a bump. She has her 20 week scan the day after my due date, so I may bump into her in the hospital!

The midwife shortage seems to be worsening here. The Friday clinic at my surgery was cancelled due to staffing and my appt was moved to Thursday (my shopping day with my Mum, grrr). And I won't be seeing my normal MW which is annoying as we were going to discuss c-section/ natural birth, it's getting a bit close now after all. I am at least seeing one of the senior MWs, whom I've met before, but I just really like and trust my named MW.

Anyway, it does have a plus side. Colin Firth is being awarded an honorary degree in Winchester on Friday, so I can go and stalk him instead on Friday! He is definitely better than Ian Beale!!!

sarahloumadam · 16/10/2007 21:41

Hi all just checking in. Having a bit of a nightmare last week at work but it will soon be over. Students gave me a card with this message "sorry to hear that you are leaving but congratulations on conceiving!" and they baked me a chocolate cake so that cheered me up no end. Sounds like some of you are getting geared up for the big day already - it will be so exciting when it all kicks off! Hope you are all putting your feet up. I am just off to sort my table-leg ankles out.

KaylaBmummy · 16/10/2007 21:46

Hi All, Just found time to quickly catch up on thread. DH came home today and we have had a lovely afternoon out for lunch and a chat on everything thats been going on, supprising what a hug from your hubby can do ehh
Just to remind you all that I am back in hospital for the heart scan and ECG and monitoring tomorrow (Wednesday) and will hopefully be home Friday night, I think they are just being caucious so if you dont hear from me, you all know where I am
DH will be with me this time so the days should go faster.
Have a lovely couple of days chatting and all take care and ill hopefully be back on thread chatting on Saturday. Have to go to bed now as I have to be in there for 8.30 tomorrow and its a long drive.

RGPargy · 16/10/2007 22:22

Hi everyone

Choc - yes i think i have just about recovered now. When i was younger it would only take a day to recover but these days it can take up to a week!

LOM - at you laying in bed just because you can. How as ga ga land?

Lizzie - know what you mean about holding yourself in when you cough or sneeze lol. i've learnt my lesson with that and now i make sure i hold in, even if it means nearly popping my eyeballs out from holding sneezes in until i'm ready.

Sparkly - hope Callum sorts himself out soon. Must be really worrying and frustrating for you, considering how far he's come!

Fiona - hand knitted stuff like that is great isn't it. Bet you cant wait to use them!

Swollen - I think all the niggles etc are just part and parcel of being heavily pg. Enjoy the Wispas!

Jetgirl - trust me, Saturday night was a really MISSION. Even before the night we were secretly hoping the car would break down or the night would suddenly get cancelled or summat coz we just knew we would be sooooo tired. Still, being the troopers we are, we just got on with it and it all turned out well. Hope you and DD enjoy the baby stalking.

Sarah - awwww your students sound lovely! hope your tables legs go down soon.

Kayla - hope your hospital stay goes according to plan and that you dont get toooooo bored in there. Really pleased that DH will be with you. At least you can have a snuggle on the bed now and then eh?

Last day at work for me tomorrow ladies!

Right, off to bed now. Have a good sleep everyone and see you tomorrow.

xx

ChocolateHobnob · 17/10/2007 08:10

Hi everyone

Sparkly, good luck with Callum and his latch. Bless him - he is just soooo cute.

RG, last day today, hey? Hope you won't abandon us!

JARM, sounds like it might happen soon!

Jetgirl, why are you deciding between c-section and vag birth? Do you mind me asking?

Kayla, good luck, honey, thinking of you!

Fiona, I can see why you would get emotional!

Sarah, choc cake, wow. You have nice students.

I'm 38 weeks today, no sign of any imminent arrival so don't think lo is planning to come early. Re engagement, I was 3/5 from 30 weeks onwards, then last week they couldnt find a head and thought I was breech, so I had the scan on Friday, back today to show mw exactly where lo is - curled up! - so will see what she says re engagement.

Three more days at work, but today working at home, and Friday, so not so bad, really.

I'm sure to be back on later since I'm at home.

Take care, all!

Pixiefish · 17/10/2007 08:22

Have built the cot in preparation- it's in the middle of the floor in dd's room (she's still in with me- don't ask) and midwife coming today to talk about birth plan.
Starting to wonder whose bright idea it was to have a second baby

littleoldme · 17/10/2007 09:40

Sparkly - It must be really frustrating for you all. It sounds like everyone is taking really good care of him though.

Sarah - How sweet of your kids. Things like that alomst make it all worth it.Hope your swollen ankles subside.

Kayla - Hope all goes well for your stay in hosp. hug

Rg - Yes , lounging in bed was wonderful. To top it all, I've got a lunch date everyday this week.

Went to the opera with the in laws last night. The show was fantastic but I had the squeakiest seat and couldn't get comfy. Everytime I moved it sounded like I was treading on a small family of mice.

Who was talking about about bran muffins and do you have a recipie? I took some lactulose yesterday and was somewhat incapacitated

choudru · 17/10/2007 10:31

Morning ladies!

I'm still hanging in there - sorry for not posting (it's been almost a week - longest break ever). Had a busy weekend with Eid and spending time at in-laws and then spent a couple of days at mum's so no chance to post.

Am back home today and have just spent an hour catching up. I will post properly later on but just wanted to reassure people hadn't had baby no.2 already!

It's so lovely to be missed though

Speak later comrades.

x

sparklygothkat · 17/10/2007 10:38

choudru and lizzie you are both doing so well, shame I couldn't hold on eh!!? I am really looking forward to someone else popping, I am all on my own here!!

RGPargy · 17/10/2007 11:35

Morning everyone!

Welcome back ELB! Long time no post!

Choc - dont worry, i wont be abandoning anyone. While i'm at home i'll probably be even WORSE for posting on here (if that's possible?!!).

LOM - oooo lunch dates. I have a coffee date next Tuesday already with an old friend. Should be good to catch up. Which opera did you see?

Pixie - does it seem more real now the cot's up? Good luck with the MW later.

Choudru - Good to see you! A whole week without you posting is practically unheard of, tut tut Look forward to catching up with your news later.

Sparkly - Dont worry! With so many of us on this list already being near popping point, it's only a matter of time before someone else joins you.

Well, today is my last day at work!! yippee!!!! I came in early this morning (earliest i've been in since i got pg!) to find that my desk has been decorated!!! I've got little pink and blue paper chains, balloons, confetti stars, little hand made boxes etc etc. It looks really nice!! Some of us are off to the pub at lunchtime for a few (non alcoholic) shandies so not sure what time i'll actually get back to my desk this afternoon. Then at 4.30pm i'm having the very embarrassing presentation which i will no doubt spend going a very bright shade of tomato. Then we're off out tonight for an Italian at 6.30pm! My taxi's booked for 9pm to take me all the way home from London to Kent, courtesy of the firm, which is such a relief! i thought i would be struggling on the train with all the usual last day stuff you get but thankfully it'll be a car ride instead.

Oh i am sooooooo looking forward to NOT waking up at 6.45 tomorrow!!!!!

OP posts:
Flounder78 · 17/10/2007 12:34

Afternoon ladies. Cna I join you? I am due 21st Nov. I finish work next Friday but am working from home until then.

I have tried other website but this seems far more friendly.

LK2boyzma · 17/10/2007 13:26

Goodday all,

Flounder78- Welcome to the thread and welcome on board Am sure you will have a good time here!

RG- U lucky soul(envy) Your firm seems to have had it all planned for you, hope you enjoy the evening and all the spoiling that will come with it. )Believe me whatever happens this afternoon (the presentation), they will not ask you how you got into that state! (blush).
As for me everyday this week has become 48hrs long, (shock)They just aren't moving quick enough!

Sparkly:I was looking at the list and YES, you won't be alone 4 too long. Very soon there'll be a few of us late november mums waiting, everyone else will be enjoying their LOs.
