Sparkly - that's fantastic news must be a huge weight off your mind. Onwards and upwards now eh!

Silkcushion/Flounder/Berrybliss - I'll join you on the "something's going on here" feeling. I've been soooo emotional for the last few days as well as on/off back/tummy ache and LO going waaaaaaaaaay lower than normal. I was in floods on Tues I couldn't iron things fast enough and wanted it all done but today I'm like a wet rag (haven't even got dressed yet! ) DH has just gone to collect DS from nursery so I really should go for a shower. I'm so glad to have DH home at the mo, he's being a star.

Kayla - hope you're starting to relax a bit more with your DH home at last

Jetgirl - another nosebleeder here. I had a massive one - first ever - last w/e lifting DS into the car. It scared the crap out of me as it was my first day on insulin I was very relieved to hear it's totally normal. Head forward & pinch the bridge of your nose is apparently the thing to do.

Loopy - {{hugs}} you won't be feeling like this for 2 months. One particularly pants night won't set the trend, promise and I'm sure you won't become immune to the effects of paracetamol in that time even if you take it every day. Have you got one of those suppport bands at all? (I've got one I can lend you with pleasure if you want it)

Anna - you're going to have to visit them and at least outstay your welcome by a few hours now aren't you, just for the crack (get them to cook for you, ruin their TV watching etc )PMSL at the image.

I really better go and sort myself out - loafing in bed to Radio 1 is all very good but I feel the need to go and lift DS up lots (thanks JARM )

Iris - good idea re the M&S girdle thing. I dont think M&S go up to my size tho so i might just have to spend the £60 on a proper post-natal girdle after all. I might take a look in Evans tho, in case they have got any in there.

Jarm - sorry to hear you're feeling grumpy and uncomfortable. Hope you're feeling better today Enjoy your nap!

Jet - ouch! your injuries sound rather painful!! I had an episiotomy (sp?) with DS and that was bad enough - well, saying that, it was the stitches that actually hurt more than giving birth - SERIOUSLY!!

Berry - keep us posted with your strange goings on!!

Anna - Fan-bloody-TASTIC news about your friends finding a place of their own! I bet you found it really really hard to hide your overjoyed-ness when they told you. What a relief!! You should deffo go and visit them in their new place, and then sit right in the middle of their new 50" TV while they're trying to watch it, and waffle on in a really loud voice about baby poo and nappies or something equally as gross.

Aiki - glad you are feeling better now. I hope DP finds a job soon - it must be frustrating for him to be sitting around in a strange country, not knowing anyone etc etc. I'm also looking forward to being unpregnant again. Not because i dont like being pg, because i do - i've absolutely loved it so far - but because i want to be able to bend down and turn over in bed without the need for the assistance of a winch!! Glad you got to see LO again. Cant wait to see mine again at 37 weeks!! I deffo want confirmation of the sex too so that if the scan was wrong at 22 weeks, i at least have (in theory) 3 weeks to get used to the idea of a boy rather than a girl.

Loopy - awww sorry you were feeling crappy. Bless DH for getting up with you. how are you feeling today? I agree with LOM's recommendation of a Wispa-by-mouth to chase the aches and pains away.

Cape - it wasn't so long ago that i had 2.5 weeks to go and was hating every hour of it! It'll go soon enough tho so hang in there! What a rotten doctor too!!

LOM - Hope you enjoy your swim. Watch out for organic veg!!!

choudru - wow, 38 weeks! you've done brilliantly hanging on to this LO! it's exciting to know that LO's arrival is imminent isn't it!

Flounder - Hope you're feeling better today. Cant say i've been going to numbers twos more often, but they've certainly changed consistency (ahem!).

Sparkly - great news about Callum putting on weight!

Right, now for my news! Yesterday was quite manic in terms of people around my desk, wishing me well, 2 hour lunches, etc. I had my (rather embarrassing) presentation at around 4.30, whereby everyone stood around my desk while my boss said a few words of thanx etc. I said that i was looking forward to putting my feet up and he replied (in front of everyone) "Nothing new there then!" hahahaha!! i didn't think i could go any redder! Bloody sod! He obviously just new that i was sitting around doing not alot all day lol. Still, he's a lovely guy tho and we have a great working relationship with lots of banter so it was all taken in the good spirit it was meant.

As well as a big cake, I got a huuuuuge bunch of flowers from the firm and my collection had bought me a big bag full of baby toiletries (nappy cream, shampoo, baby bath etc etc), a Baby's Keepsake Book which i'm really pleased with coz i wanted to get one of those, plus a beautiful photo album. I also got a babygrow, a snuggle blanket, a box of Heroes, a mini bottle of pink champagne and best of all, TWO WISPAS!!!!!!!! My bay buddy obviously knows me only too well!!!

Then when all the crowd had dispersed, Graeme (the banter boss) came out to me with a little posh bag space.nk bag (i've never heard of them, personally!) and inside were a few sample sachets and also an envelope which contained a gift voucher - FOR £100!!!!!!! I was really really at that because it's just sooooo generous! When i saw the gift voucher envelope i expected like £25 or so, but £100?!!! blimey!!

So after work 9 of us went to this Italian restaurant. We had a lovely meal there - i had garlic mushrooms for starters and a ham pizza for main which i couldn't eat because there's no room for food in my tum at the mo! I also had a lovely glass of rose wine too. Just what the last-day-doctor ordered! Got home around 10ish so it wasn't too late, but i was absolutely shattered!

Nosebleeds - haven't had any yet personally, but - TMI ALERT - i've had rather bloody crusts first thing in the morning, but i thought it might be from snoring too much.

So here i am, now officially allowed to put my feet up I woke up around 9.30 today but i've been pottering around tidying up a bit coz the house is an absolute sh1thole at the mo! I'm going to be very eau-de-domestic goddess today and will make sure DP gets fed and watered by 6pm lol.

Anyway, sorry for the rather long post!

Happy Thursday everyone!!

RGPargy - what a great day you had yesterday. It is my last day next Friday and all my work buddies either work round the country or are on hols next week as it is half term. I am going into the office tomorrow and having lunch with a few people but a bit sad that I wont be able to say goodbye to everyone. What are you going to spend you money on?

Iris66 have you had your shower yet? I love working form home so that I don't have to get dresses PMSL however, I went to Dh new work (starts nov) today to pick up his new contract so thought I best make an effort!! First time I have put makeup on all week lol.

RGPargy · 18/10/2007 13:42

Flounder - Oh that's a bit sad that no one will be around isn't it. Hope you enjoy your lunch dates instead! Not sure what i'm going to be spending the vouchers on as i've never been to space.nk. However thought i might save it til after LO is here and then take her to Bluewater with me in the new year and have a splurge then. I dont fancy traipsing around Bluewater at the moment and dont want to spend it online because i want to see/smell what i'm buying first, especially as it's quite expensive!

I haven't got dressed yet either - well, i've slung on a t-shirt and shorts but my hair is still all over the place and i still have yestereday's makeup all down my face too. What a sight i must look! Niiiiiiiice!

Right off to my useless MW now. Will rpeort back. I am hoping she will tell me if baby is engaged or not.

iris66 · 18/10/2007 14:08

I think it's good to get used to the slovenly look before LO arrives then I won't feel so bad looking so haggard after off for a shower now (DH brought me lunch in bed as I'd got a bit distracted doing Christmas shopping) Feeling very loved up with him being such a domesticated daddy today {sigh}

RGPargy - sounds like you were, quite rightfully, spoilt rotten and with a load of guilt free shopping to look forward to as well - brilliant! (twice as valuable in the sales to boot!! )

really am going for a shower now

Loopy - apology smology no need is there
Will e-mail you in a mo about the belt and good idea about the homeopathy so, for all those interested...

There are loads of remedies for pg/labour so if you're serious then do get a good guide. (Helios do a kit - all 200c with an instruction booklet which is fab for DHs) The key ones (all also available from Boots at 30c potency, which are just as good)are:

Aconite - for fear/panic, quick labour or threat of prem labour

Arnica - No1. trauma remedy. Encourages healing, speeds recovery & reduces battered/bruised feeling. Helps in long slow labours but brilliant aid to recovery from any labour.

Calendula - speeds up the healing process of cuts/wounds. Tincture form can be used in the bath or as a compress to treat episiotomy/tears

Chamomilla - oversensitivity/bad temper feeling overheated (invaluable remedy for teething btw)

Hypericum - First aid remedy after labour for damage to nerve rich areas (ie after CS/epidural/episiotomy/tears)Works well in conjunction with Calendula

Kali Carb - good for backache labours

Pulsatilla - Good for PND/emotional upset and tension/vulnerable feeling in pelvis/lower back

Secale - used to antidote the ill effects of syntometrine.

All the above wording is taken from a mini materia medica included in the Helios childbirth kit as I'm not a homeopath (yet ) Rescue remedy is brilliant for calming/reassuring emotional feelings too. HTH

iris66 · 18/10/2007 15:18

sorry - I realised I shouldn't have said about using the wording from the kit (prob some copywrite infringement!) so I changed the words (but forgot to delete the bit about using theirs)but the sentiment is the same IYKWIM I really can't afford to be sued..just in case anyone's monitoring

littleoldme · 18/10/2007 15:24

Blimey girls - i've only been out for lunch {shock}

Rg- Glad you had good time yesterday. Must be nice to leave work feeling so well looked after. Space nk stuff is supposed to be very nice.

Loopy - Pleased to hear you feeling happier. That bed will be the biz when it arrives.

Rg - My swim was lovely ta. I managed a whole 14 lengths - OMG I feel pathetic.

Well this afternoon was going to be spent at my sewing machine but I think my cat cat needs some quality time so i think I'll settle down with her and my book instead. There's always tonight.

LK2boyzma · 18/10/2007 15:56

Sparkly- well done to Callum for being such a fighter!

iris- Thank you for that list, I am one who has been looking into such remedies and I will definitely be following that up! Am sure you will not get into trouble for use the manufacturer's wording, there is no financial gain for you is there, (wink)

RG- Good to know you had a good evening last night, hope you enjoy spending the voucher too.Well from your contributions on this thread, I am not surspised the people you work with feel that way about you! SO happy 4 u

Being in the health profession myself, I would like to apologise to all who have had a tough time with either the MW or GP! They really should not be saying such things to their patients, its terrible.Maybe you should remind them that they are supposed to make you feel better NOT WORSE (shock)

AnnainNZ · 18/10/2007 16:02

Little - I haven't been able to listen to the Archers for 6 years, apart from when I've been back in the UK for visits - then this week they started doing podcasts of each episode so I can now download them and listen to them. I can't tell you how fab it was listening to Emma and Will having a sandwich together in the pub, Ruth and David doing the farm visit (nice to see they're getting over their issues ) ! God, I'm so sad!

fiona76 · 18/10/2007 16:27

I am sooooooo . Went to antenatal class 2 this morning with DH and it was great again. We put 4.20 in the meter. When we went out to the car we had a ticket because we parked on the wrong side of the street 50 pounds

Then this afternoon I had my 36 week check up and there was a student doc so visit took longer and ran over my my 2 pounds I put on the meter so got another 50 pound ticket To top it off my BP was up so I had to go to the day assessment unit for an hour and it was of course fine when I was there and normal.

So all and all today cost about 110 pounds in parking. . No wonder my BP was up.

Good news is LO is pointing the right way but not engaged yet. As I'm tall LO has room to move but hopefully will saty pointing down.

RGPargy · 18/10/2007 16:32

Fiona!!!!!!!!!! That's bloody appalling!!!!!!

Will catch up with everyone in a bit - am off to go shopping for DP's dinner! How DomGod of me!!!

OP posts:
littleoldme · 18/10/2007 17:23

Anna - Have you tried it on the BBC's listen again? I'm sure you should be able to get. Fancy not being able to keep up with the everyday life of country folk for 6 years. That most definately won't get the pigs in.

Fiona - What can I say ! I bet if you wrote them a sob story of a letter they would let you off some of it. Worth a try???

Anyone else getting addicted to Deal or no Deal? i'm considering setting up an addict support group.

aikigypsy · 18/10/2007 17:30

TMI alert: I am going into my third day of diarrhoea after near-constant constipation for the whole pregnancy, and am generally feeling very tired. I'm at work today, but just for a 4-hour shift, and I'm hopng to get a good nap in when I get home. I keep wondering if something is happening.

37 weeks tomorrow. I keep expecting someone else here to give birth already!

TeaDr1nker · 18/10/2007 17:41

Aiki, you poor thing. Hope you are drinking plenty, would hate for you to be dehydrated. Have you tried Dioryte or the like?

BTW, is 34 weeks the time to be getting a bag together, i keep putting it off...

JARM · 18/10/2007 18:23

Tea - GET THAT BAG PACKED!

I packed mine on sunday (was 33+6) which was REALLY late for me!

Am sitting here still feeling crappy - the more i think about it, the more i think i have a bug or something.... honestly, have never felt quite so ill in all my life (well i have, but i think the pg hormones are making me feel worse!)

Right then guys - lets talk BRAS! When should I go and get measured again?! TBH, Ive been a bit slack and havent bothered when pg with the girls, but it just seems all my bras are popping at the seams and my boobs are hanging out of the top (which i love btw being only a b cup usually!) Dh isnt complaining either, but im thinking i really should get to M&S or some place!

More money.... these kids dont come cheap do they!

Whats all this talk of girdles?! Someone enlighten me!

ChocolateHobnob · 18/10/2007 18:39

Well done Callum! What a little star!

Fiona, I feel for you - not surprised your bp was up initially. Hope you're okay now.

RG, your night sounds fab plus your pressies - how generous are they?! I got lovely pressies when we got married from work, but for babies we just get sent Interflora when the baby arrives. Which is still nice, obviously! but not quite your level.

Aiki, maybe something is happening!

Is it time for me to confess I haven't packed my bag yet and I'm 38.1??? Oops. I have the stuff, I think, just in carrier bags in the nursery. Am assuming there will be days of prelabour. Will pack it tomorrow though, promised!

Loopy, did you try a Wispa cure?? I bet it works. Hugs from here to you and anyone else feeling bad.

Anna - I love Littleoldme's evil suggestion!!!

Littleoldme, 14 lengths is good, surely. You put me to shame. I meant to swim through the pregnancy and, ahem, just havent...

Have a tiredness headache now (no sleep, working day plus late pregnancy crap feeling) so am off to relax and make pasta for dinner.

Hugs to all of you!!!

JARM · 18/10/2007 18:42

CHOCOLATE!!! GET THAT BAG PACKED!!!!

OMG, you could pop at any time!!!

See, that has made me want to go and double check mine now and re-pack it lol

choudru · 18/10/2007 19:36

Evening all,

Have had a quietish day. Met up with little for cake (chocolate and coconut - was fantabulous) and I THINK she's talked me into going to pramercise after LOs arrive.

Serves me right for going for cake with someone who enjoys hiking.

After that was supposed to go to see someone but was so tired I cancelled and put my feet up instead.

Have pretty much spent the rest of the day lying on the sofa relaxing - DH was at home so DS wasn't too demanding.

Sparkly - fab news about Callum - I remember how much every ounce counted when DS was at that stage. He sounds like he's feeding better than you thought.

RG - Wow - your colleagues are so generous! SpaceNK stuff is lovely pampering stuff that I would never justify buying for myself but would love as a pressie. Am very

Jetgirl - I had a minor nosebleed the other day. Must be normal I guess if so many of us have had similar.

Loopy - thanks for the tips. I do think I will try the babywearing thing - I have a huggababy sling that might do the job - assuming I don't end up having a section that is. And what on earth do you get for your £2.50 toddler group?! It's £1 tops around here!

Iris - ta for all the info. I tried to buy arnica a few months back but the pharmacist said he wouldn't advice it because they don't know if it is passed through breast milk. What are your thoughts? I should have researched it a bit more before just taking his word for it but he made me nervous!

Fiona - Oh my gosh! [angry} Can't you appeal at least the second one because of delay that wasn't your fault?!

DH has gone out to get something for dinner. It's our 4th wedding anniversary today and I almost totally forgot. We were supposed to be going out for thai but am so tired we've put it off until tomorrow.

Off now to watch stenders.

Oooh - before I forget - any of you who have freeview - the first series of The Apprentice is being repeated at 9pm on the 'Dave' channel.

littleoldme · 18/10/2007 19:51

jarm - I was told to and get measured three weeks my due date. I would strongly suggest avoiding M&S simply beacuse Debenhams and Bravissimo do much better quality stuff and measure you properly.

Choc - Get yer back packed !!!!! Imagine having to pack in a frenzy and leaving something really important behind like mascara c'os you were in a flap.

Choudru - Pramercise followed by cake - naturally. Since that scrummy lunch only Gaviscon has passed my lips... unless you count a Crunchie.
Happy dinner.

Thanks girls!! As I said he has gained 2 1/2oz, but thats with the tube insite and doing tops up after every feed. The HV said that the tube will have to stay in till he is feeding well.
We started with washables today too as he is still so tiny we are using muslin squares as the nappy (misdee showed me how to fold it) paper liners and the wraps. It seems to work and its lovely to see him in a washable. Dh was so unsure about washables but I sort of didn't give him a choice lol

Loopy

I am worried about one of my cats, haven't seen him since yesterday evening..
