OoOh just had really strange contraction type feeling in waves through my back very odd!
Do you get BH in your back?

JARM · 17/10/2007 21:05

empen - they are basically pads that are held in place by the waterproof wrap that does up with velcro!

Berry - yes you do, but keep an eye - and keep us posted!!!

ChocolateHobnob · 17/10/2007 21:17

Thank you all for the positive encouragement! That midwife was awful - I dont know her name but if I see her in labour I am definitely not going to be happy. I've decided to talk to my mw about it next week. I can't even see why she said baby might be big for me, because the fundal height is 36 cm and I'm 38 weeks; that doesn't seem to indicate a monster, and the sonographer said size looked totally normal. The mw did say, when I pressed her, 'well the baby could be small too, I don't know' - so why scaremonger?? I just think it would be better not to tell people labour is going to be particularly horrible - not when you dont know and not when someone is 38 weeks!

Jetgirl, that sounds painful! Poor you. Hope you do manage to have vaginal birth. I haven't had any nosebleeds but they are a pregnancy symptom, I think.

JARM - how are you doing? are you feeling any better?

Iris - you got the girdle!!! Wonder if I should venture to M and S tomorrow too...?!

Welcome, Flounder! Hope you're doing alright.

RG will be on her way home from her party now...!

Thanks again for support. Take care all of you - the end is in sight (or the beginning!!!).

ChocolateHobnob · 17/10/2007 21:20

Oh and fingers and toes crossed for little Callum, Sparkly!

AnnainNZ · 17/10/2007 21:38

Chocolate - at your midwife, I hate people who are all doom and gloomy like that and you would think a health professional would be a bit more, umm, PROFESSIONAL! Some people just seem to love being negative. I'm quite small too and the baby is (apparently) quite big, plus I've got the blood pressure issues but my dr is always positive when she sees me, tells me "You'll be fine, no matter what happens" and told me last time that being pg obviously agrees with me and I should have a few more - this is despite the extra checks and monitoring I've needed. (She's right too, it does agree with me, I've enjoyed it, though it will be nice when I can sit up from lying down again without having to haul myself up!)

RG - hope you enjoyed your last day and your meal out. I'm wondering if even this thread will last us through as everyone will be posting like mad when they're on maternity leave.

Much to my relief our friends who were staying with us have found a flat and are moving out on Saturday - YIPPPPEEEEEEEEEEE! (I wrote about it ages ago, 2 mates, both male, just arrived in NZ, one has stayed 6 weeks with us and the other 2 and normally I wouldn't mind but they're MESSY and I really have better things to do at 37 wks pg than clean up after them and listen to them gettign pissed and talking bollocks!) Anyway, they're off so DH and I will get the house back to ourselves [relief emoticon]

aikigypsy · 17/10/2007 22:17

Chocolate -- at your midwife, too. Sometimes I wonder why some of these people chose their profession.

Anna -- Yay! You must be thrilled to be getting your space back!

JARM -- I had a first-thing-in-the-morning nosebleed a few weeks ago. I've had constant phlegm and some irritation, and I think the increased blood volume makes nosebleeds in pregnancy very common.

I was feeling lousy yesterday, crowded by being around DP all the time (he's new here, knows no one, and doesn't have a job yet), and it turned out I'd eaten something which didn't agree with my intestines. After a relatively good night's sleep and lying around most of the day today, I feel much, much better, but at yoga class last night I felt like I was going to pass out.

I am starting to look forward to non-pregnancy, much as I've enjoyed being pregnant despite some standard minor complaints. Mostly I am looking forward to less acid reflux, and having some sort of waist again to hold my pants up.

And the baby, of course. Had another u/s yesterday, which confirmed that it's a girl. Her head is a bit large, measuring at 38.5 weeks while I'm at 36.5, but she's pointed towards the exit and all's looking good.

JARM · 17/10/2007 22:22

ROFL at "pointed towards the exit!" THat has made my night!

Im feeling a little brighter thank you all, have taken out some frustration on the white gloss and radiator tonight! I will get this house decorated sometime soon if it kills me!

Cant believe some of you are going on about being 36-38 weeks, i still feel so left behind! I was obviously not having sex at the right time!!!

AnnainNZ · 17/10/2007 22:35

JARM, I think there was a whole Valentine's Day thing going on for us early-Nov due people

silkcushion · 17/10/2007 22:48

Anna - great news at finally getting yr personal space back (just in time for it to be invaded by baby)

Berry - keep us posted on yr contractions. I'm convinced something is afoot with me. Feel very strange since the backache started on friday. Lots of lower abdominal pain. I even had diarrhoea last night (sorry if tmi) and was pleased cos it might have signalled labour starting. Sadly I'm still here, still feeling weird and all of a sudden I'm exhausted. Have finished work, did loads of preparation and nesting last week so have been taking it easy this week but still feel shattered! Expect this is my body preparing for birth and it'll go on for 3/4 weeks.

JARM · 17/10/2007 22:58

ooooh keep an eye on all that silk - you never know.

i had that for a few days with DD2 and then all it took was an afternoon of lifting DD1 LOADS and bang, inot labour.

Fingers crossed for you all x

ChocolateHobnob · 18/10/2007 06:45

Hi all

Anna, you must be so happy! Hurrah that they've gone. You need the space just to be, at the moment. And I envy you your doctor - my midwife is nice, actually, my normal one, and pretty positive, so I have to just be glad I haven't been seeing the other one all this time!

Silk, maybe it IS something - I'm due a week before you and haven't had any of that, so I reckon it's a good sign for you.

Aiki, that comment made me laugh too!!! My head apparently isnt pointed quite right, so feel lucky....!

I've enjoyed pregnancy too. I've not had any complaints apart from lack of sleep, and I've had happy hormones for most of the time.

Off to work in a minute - last day in the office.... have a good day, you lot!

Loopy- I'm with you as I haen't enjoyed this pregnancy. Loads of medical reasons, loads of things gone wrong but generally had a very bad time. I was vomiting again last night which hurt my belly

Was nothing like this with dd- if it had been then she'd have been an only child

capecodder · 18/10/2007 08:23

hello there ladies.

envying all of you who are off work already- but only 2.5 weeks left to go.

chocolate- i had a bit of a time with my gp. she gave me an internal exam last month to check for an infection and said 'oooh, you're not having a natural birth are you?' i said that i was and she said that she thought that i was too small and that it would be very difficult for me and would recommend against it. this entirely freaked me out and my mw and consultant were furious when i told them and said everything should be fine. but i was really upset over it for weeks. i agree, why scaremonger?

jarm- i had a double nose bleed- both nostrils at the same time- yesterday. which i thought was just a bit excessive, really.

5 weeks left to go but am feeling so tired and uncomfortable starting to wonder how i will cope. keeping up with all of you helps though.

littleoldme · 18/10/2007 09:06

Cape. That's not a nice doctor story. I think that as they deal with this stuff dayin and day out they forget that it is a big deal for us. Oh and I agree - a double nose bleed is a little excessive! Good luck with the last it of work. Not long now

Pixie - Sorry you are sounding so blue - really not long t'ill your LO is in you arms now

Loopy - What a rubbish night. I hear that Wispas taken orally are good for pelvic pain. Big hugs.

Anna - I'm so pleased you have your house back. I agree with whoever it was that said fish and house guests go off after three days. Perhaps you should visist them for six weeks with your LO

Jarm - It is weird with every one talking about being so far on. I'm only 34 weeks. Mind you it seems like yesterday that 20 weeks felt like ages away. remeber when we were all having our scans?

Berry hope you have a good sleep.

Right - must cleam kitchen and go swimming. Woke up feeling upset after bad dream : DH had abandoned me in a theatre with a trolley full organic vegetables . I had a ticket to the performance but I couldn't get the trolley up the stairs. I think my brain is poorly

silkcushion · 18/10/2007 09:22

loopsy - I saw an osteopath for pelvic pain about 26 weeks. He said he couldn't cure it completely as it needed to be a bit displaced but he would try and ease it. It made a huge difference. He did specialise in pg women. Do you know of anyone locally?

Jarm - can you lend me yr child for lifting and carrying practice until I go into labour?

sparklygothkat · 18/10/2007 09:30

I enjoyed pregnancy too, couldn't walk far in the few weeks beforehand as it triggered contractions, so was pretty much housebound, but I did love having a bump [sob]

Callum is having explosive poos again, so I think he isn't latching on right, and thats why he wasn't gaining weight. With the tube in he seems more alert and happy. I just hope he has gained weight today.

iris66 · 18/10/2007 09:39

Loopymumsy - take it easy today hon.the remedies for pelvic pain, according to my book, are... Arnica 30c (if you're feeling bruised with it) or Pulsatilla 30c (if you're feeling tender and it's making you more emotional) back later

AnnainNZ · 18/10/2007 09:44

Loopy, sorry you're feeling so rubbish

Littleoldme, I LOVE that idea about visiting our mates in their new (blokey) flat for 6 weeks with the baby. Would be hilarious! They're currently on the internet looking for big screen TV's (sample conversation: "Is 42 inch big enough or should we go for the 50 inch?").

(Btw Little, is it you who is into the Archers?)

Sparkly, good to hear Callum is perking up

choudru · 18/10/2007 09:58

Morning everyone,

Sorry to hear about you feeling so fed up Loopy - it's not like you so must have been bad. And bless DH for getting up with you!

Little - don't worry about your bad dream - your day will soon pick up once we meet up for cake. And don't even think about eating my share.

DH is off work this morning - am hoping he might watch DS while I nip out for cake with Little!

RG - how was the leaving do? Your work have been lovely about you going off on maternity leave. And I can't believe you drove all the way up to Manchester over the weekend. I was in Mannie as well and thought driving there from Leeds was tiring enough!

JARM and Loopy - I have been a bit nervous about how I'm goign to cope with a newborn and a toddler. DS is 2.6 and quite a handful on his own. And there's you 2 dealing with the prospect of a 3rd LO!

Iris - oooh I should get my girdle soon as well. Glad you found one you liked. Since the fashion seems to be steering towards nipped in waists at the moment, there should be a wiiiiiide selection of slimming girdles on the market.

I'm 38 weeks tomorrow. Can't belive LO could be here in days rather than months!

They are discussing home births on the wright stuff at the mo.

choudru · 18/10/2007 09:59

P.S.Good luck with Callum's weigh in Sparkly!

Flounder78 · 18/10/2007 10:19

Mornign everyone. Just trying to cathc up on you all.

I have MW appointment this afternoon. Getting lots of pelic pain and hardly any sleep. I know there is not much she can do but maybe she can give me some tips.

Has the worst headache last night that lasted until just after I'd taken Ds to school this morning.

This is probably tmi but I seem to be going tot he toilet 3-5 times a day I normally only go once a day. Maybe baby is putting pressure on my bowel. Anyone else getting this?

Can't wait till the seekend as Dh and I are going to go and get lots of stuff for baby as I seem to be getting behind. The main thing for me isd to get my bag packed next week as I will be 36 weeks. It will be really strange after 36 1/2 weeks as I didn't get any further with DS.

Hope everyone is feeling OK today.

sparklygothkat · 18/10/2007 11:39

WOOOHOOO!!!!!! he has gained 2 1/2oz!!!

JARM · 18/10/2007 12:04

FAB news sparkly!!! WELL DONE CALLUM!

Been to parent and toddler swim session this morning and am now knackered! Am waiting for DD1 to go to nursery at 1pm and i will have a little nap i think!

Just really not feeling myself at the moment - and to whoever it was that was swearing about pg being too long - im right there with you!

Silk - you are welcome to my monsters! They are driving me insane today!

Prospect of 3rd LO - hmmmmm.... i think the answer is CRAZY FOOL! Nah, seriously, this is the last, so 3 will do for me. DD1 will be 3.4yrs, DD2 will be 2.1yrs and then a scrummy newborn! If only babies stayed babies - i would be so happy!

No matter how hard you think it is in the early months, toddler time is so much worse!!!

littleoldme · 18/10/2007 12:12

Anna - Glad you like my plan. i do enjoy being just a little evil sometimes And yes, it is me who likes the Archers. Don't tell me you're a fan too!

Sparkly - Great news about Callum
