Evening ladies,

Firstly - silk - GOOD LUCK! How exciting! I'm so desperate to go into labour that I am getting very over excited at the thought of the fact that someone somewhere is on the verge of it. sigh

I got a little excited while watching Property Ladder earlier because I had 3 BH all about 15 mins apart. But then next one took 25 mins and that was 35 mins ago. So they are getting less frequent if anything. Dammit.

Just thought - if any of us have babies tomorrow - they will be Halloween babies. I reckon any boys born tomorrow should definitely be given Damien as a middle name

Pixie - any progress?

Lizzie - they haven't mentioned elective cs to me. All I have is an appointment with consultant when I am 40+3 to discuss next steps. Thanks for bringing it up though - will ask consultant about risks involved with induction in women who've previously had emergency cs.

Loopy - how cute of your gran! Bless!

LOM - what a lovely picture you paint at the physios. You might as well get used to being undignified in preparation for childbirth...

DH is making up a couple of bedside cabinets. I think me talking about contractions has jolted him into action.

AnnainNZ · 30/10/2007 21:51

Just back from the doctors, she did another sweep, unfortunately cervix still completely
closed so doesn't look like the curry, sex, acupressure etc has had any effect.

(Do you know, if you'd told me a year ago I'd be talking about the state of my cervix with a load of people on the internet, I would never have believed it ).

So off to hospital tomorrow, time brought forward to 7.30am so my dr can come in and put the gel in before her morning surgery. At least it will be her doing it, not some random doctor I don't know.

silkcushion · 30/10/2007 22:10

Hi Anna Sorry yr cervix is still closed . Best of luck for tomorrow - just think you'll definitely meet your baby in the next 24/48 hours so it will all be worth it.

Thanks everyone for all the good luck wishes and cheerleading dancing (calm down LOM - don't over do it )

Have been for a walk around the block with DH and bounced on my birthing ball in an attempt to get it all going but actually feel exhausted so will have to cave in and give up. Off for a nice bath and then to bed.

Do you remember when you were a small child and it wqas Christmas eve? I used to be desperate to fall asleep so that I could wake up and find it was Christmas day. That's what I feel like now - I want to fall asleep and wake up and find myself 5cm dilated

RGPargy · 30/10/2007 22:31

Evening girls!

I wont catch up now coz i'm exhausted but thought i'd wish Silk good luck!!!

Silk - if i were you, i'd go to bed and wake up having had the baby! Much more agreeable, dont you think?

Will catch up tomorrow.

N'night!
xx

OP posts:
Easywriter · 30/10/2007 22:42

Silk why stop there. I reckon fall asleep, waking to find a babe about to be passed to you and just the placenta to deliver. No cuts, grazes or tears!

Jet and everyone else - DD's are great at amusing themselves (if only by virtue of there being two of them so they're not in need of someone to play with) the trouble is that our house has been a death trap for the last few weeks. e.g. the contents of the kitchen in the sitting room, the contents of our room in the girls room etc etc whilst we've had the work done. There has been nowhere for them to play safely as there's either been no space or space in a room with... kitchen knives to close for comfort. They've got all that pent up energy and really need to be outside of our house to do anything about it which is great when you have only a few hours a day to fill (by virue of them doing things) and not so great when it's half term.

Still, the end of all this is in sight!

Tonight it feels as if Marnie is trying to punch her way out of my fanjo! Doesn't hurt but is really strange. That normal then?

Easywriter · 30/10/2007 22:44

X-posts RG! (Except I type really slowly!)

AnnainNZ · 31/10/2007 06:31

Just to let you guys know - when there is any baby news from me I am going to text Buzzybee (who is on the Dec antenatal thread and also lives in NZ) as we are in the same timezone - then she will post on here. Thought it was easier than explaining the intricacies of MN to dh.

iris66 · 31/10/2007 07:35

good luck Anna

Silkcushion - hope today's your LO's birthday too!

StrangeTown · 31/10/2007 07:36

Hello All,

Have not posted for ages, but have been lurking and keeping up to date with you all. Officially finished for mat leave yesterday, so much more time for proper MNing now.
RG - hope I have updated the list right - jut added myself in next to JARM.

You all seem very organised - I am hoping to get sorted now that I am off. Still no names either which is a bit worrying!.

Good luck today Anna! Very exciting now - will be tons of action on this thread.

littleoldme · 31/10/2007 08:09

Morning ladies.

Lots of love Anna - although I guess you'll be in by now.

Silk - Hope today is the day. You're right , no more cheerleading dancing - It's more than my fragile body can stand. Funny that you mentioned it being like chrismas eve, that's exactly the wa I explained it to DH.

Jet - Glad to know you like Holby City too. what with that and Spooks I can hardly contain my excitement on a Tuesday night.

Easy - Hope you manage to find time to enjoy the p and q before your girls get home.

Feeling a bit pants this morning. Had a rubbish sleep c'os of heartburn. I need to get something nuclear from the docs. Also some of my freinds are being a bit rubbish about staying in touch. I know people have busy lives etc but Anyway, I'm seeing my lovely friend and her gorgeous DD today so that should brighten things up.

sarahloumadam · 31/10/2007 08:27

Morning all.

Good luck Anna! Thinking of you too Pixie (hopefully it's a done deal by now?).

2 people I know have had babies in the last 24 hours! One of my work colleagues had a baby girl one week early and my sister-in-law had her baby girl last night two weeks early weighing 8lbs 8ozs! 5 hour labour (I've ordered one of those). Halloween baby . But she lives abroad so no baby-stalking opportunties to be had there!

My LO on the other hand has decided to unengage himself (doing the hokey cokey) and can't make his mind up which side is the most comfy! I suspected as much as I have been feeling a bit sicky/indigestiony. Am picking up birthing ball and TENS machine today.

RG - I saw Nigella making that Eton Mess and it looked gorgeous! Must do.

LOM - thanks for the book recommendations BTW. I read Spot of Bother recently (liked it but not as much as Curious Incident) but haven't heard of the other one so will look out for it. Been reading lots of trashy crime novels so need a "proper" read.

Silk - your birth plan sounds fab!

Thanks again for all your good wishes re the move. We get to inspect our new house tomorrow for the first time! I think it's going to be alright (the move). I'm just a bit worried re the heavier stuff cos we live in a first floor apartment (no lift) and I don't want any of our friends or family doing their back in on account of our stupid furniture. Wish we could afford lovely removal people to come and do it all for us. Wonder how Berry is getting on. I too will be off-line from tomorrow night for about a week. And when I get back there will be lots of lovely new babies!!!

Speak to you all later. Have a good day x

sarahloumadam · 31/10/2007 08:28

Fiona - did you enjoy the pork chops? Yummy!

silkcushion · 31/10/2007 09:47

Bugger my birth plan hasn't worked.

I didn't wake up to find a baby in my bed!!!!

In fact the only thing that seems to have developed in earnest overnight is a stinking cold and a sore throat!!!!!!

Still have strong bh though and mucusy type stuff just keeps coming (sorry tmi).

Think I will lie around in bed for the morning and get upright if any signs of labour starting properly.

Pixiefish · 31/10/2007 10:44

no news yet. had 4th prostin. looking likely to be cs if nowt happens-just what i dont want

FCH · 31/10/2007 10:57

Hello!

Silkcushion - sorry you are feeling under the weather - what horrible timing! It does sound as though things are moving on for you though!

Pixie - so sorry your LO isn't co-operating but at least you will be meeting him or her soon, which is so exciting.

Happy arrivals vibes to Anna too. What a busy day!

Things are a bit less exciting here - I went to see my midwife yesterday who said that Jr is showing no signs of making any plans to engage its head, and that is apparently a little unusual at this stage in a first pregnancy, although not unheard of! Anyway - she said if there is no sign of activity by my next appointment, which is on Tuesday, she will send me to the hospital to see a consultant, have another scan to see if there is anything impeeding arrival etc. The problem with this is that I really do want this baby to arrive at home and I really don't want to start getting involved with extra medical staff and ending up running the risk of being induced in hospital etc. I do know you don't have to go in by the way, I am just not sure how much longer I would want to wait if I was still pregnant in 2 weeks' time. The whole visit was so depressing, even though my MW is lovely, and I just want the baby to show a bit of interest in arriving.

Anyway - going to take my miserable whining elsewhere... Hope everyone else is well.

PS, LOM, perhaps your friends just think you will be too busy and are trying to keep out of the way? I'm sure they are thinking of you!

littleoldme · 31/10/2007 11:05

Sarah - The latest Kate Atkinson ' One Good Turn' is vg as well.

FCH - Hope everything works out and that LO of yours gets engaged very soon.

I'm feeling much happier now, the last few days have been a proper emotional whirl. I go from to in about 45 seconds. That's hormones for you.

Lots of love Pixie. Hope today is the day.

silkcushion · 31/10/2007 12:28

pixie - sorry it's not worked so far. Got my fingers crossed for you.

FCH - have you tried some yoga moves? Cat position (on all fours. All the optimal feotal positioning stuff? Worth a try I guess

RGPargy · 31/10/2007 12:51

Morning everyone!

Blimey, you've been chatty as usual! Lots to catch up on!

Jinxed - hope you got your net sorted. I'm like a fish out of water without mine!

Silk - Our dinner last night was lovely! Unfortunately i'd put the meat sausages in the fan oven and left them in there a bit too long so the sauce was quite erm.... done but the veggie sausages came out lovely and DP was very very impressed! I have to say that the best part was the dessert (Eton Mess) that I made. The recipe was for four people and they are quite generous portions too! Needless to say as there are only three of us we had quite piggish sized portions, but nobody objected to having to eat large portions of strawbs, meringue and cream.

Sorry you have woken up with nothing more than a cold today tho Silk. What happened to the baby by breakfast deal?

Anna - LMAO @ Donkey Day. How bizarre! Good luck for this evening (our time). Sending lots of positive baby vibes your way!

Pixie - sorry LO is being stubborn. Let's hope today is the day! Lots of +++++ vibes going your way too.

Jet - so glad my tip served you well! I agree that the Eton Mess and Choc Pears are a healthy option because they contain fruit and calcium! I'll just have to make sure i eat more of it. Enjoy your pumpkinteering tonight!

Choudru - maybe the BH were your body's way of getting you prepared for the real thing?? Fingers crossed for you!

StrangeTown - What can i say, your list updating skills are great! I'm not in charge of the list btw, but i am quite anal if it doesn't look right lol.

LOM - sorry you had a rubbish night's sleep. Thankfully i've only needed some Gavi to sort me out. Your post reminded me that i was running low on Gavi so i phoned up the surgery and asked if i could have a repeat prescription, but was told i cant do it over the phone and would have to request it in writing and hand it in at reception, after which the prescription would take 48 hours to prepare. What a palava!! Think i might as well must buy the bloody stuff - it'll be alot quicker! Perhaps people are reluctant to contact you so close to d-day. People are funny with pg ladies aren't they?

Sarah - lots of babies are happening around you it seems! Strongly recommend the Eton Mess.

FCH - Sorry your LO is also being lazy and staying put. I'm sure it'll all kick off soon enough.

Well i've been to the MW today who said that baby was in a good backward facing position, although she still cant feel engagement due to my scar tissue on my lower abdomen. I've got a scan next week tho to check on position so i cant wait for that! MW also said i have very good tummy muscles. Seems like all those years i exercised have paid off (although i do sweet F.A. exercise now!). She went through all the homebirth risks with me, what medication they carry, what they'll do if things go wrong etc etc. They are just safeguarding themselves against litigation tho so have to tell us about all things that could happen. It was nice tho because we were in there for nearly an hour with her and then at the end she asked if she could come along to the birth if she's around as she wants to observe a water birth and has to actually do this before she can be the midwife attending a water birth, IYSWIM. I'd quite like it if she was there because she's very calming and at the same time very matter of fact too. Fingers crossed she's around when i go into labour.

She also asked how quickly DS came along and when i told her it was 5 1/2 hours in active labour she almost gulped and said that this one might be much quicker! Depends tho because it's been 17 years so it might be like having a first baby again, although she said she's never seen it in all her time as a MW.

So i'm feeling very positive today and more or less ready for baby to come along. She's been bouncing around on my bladder all morning so i hope she's getting ready.....

RG - If don't pay for prescriptions you can get get Gaviscon for free from the chemist under the minor ailments scheme, you don't need a prescrition. I've had look and I can't find alist of participating chemists but If you ring your docs or NHS direct they should be able to let know. the only bummer that you only only get bog standard G, not the advance stuff.

Just had a lovely long lunch with a mate, feeling musch less grumpy.

LizzieO · 31/10/2007 15:56

Hello all

Loopymumsy - thanks for the info; i would like to hang on as much as poss for the LO to come out of its own accord..altho' i guess that could mean waiting another 3 weeks as am 39 weeks today.

Anna Pixie - how bloomin exciting, sending out positive birthing vibes

someone on thread mentioned tens machine (sorry have forgotten) i tried mine out too, it said to try out first on forearm or leg, so i put it on forearm and told DH to give it a whirl and the muppet just whacked the dial right up to max and gave me what felt like huge electric shock.....he was most amused by my somewhat shocked reaction.. Needless to day am now very cautious about allowing him control. i did also try it on my back, and it is indeed a very queer feeling, hopefully tho' it will do some good

Happy Halloween my lovely ladies
Lx

RGPargy · 31/10/2007 16:09

LOM - oooooo thanx for the info!! Will nip up the chemist and find out if they are participants. Yay!

Lizzie - lol at your DH. What a donut he is!

Hi all

RG, Nigella's puds are always generous! The marshmallow mousse is just too sickly though. Her brownies are good...

Pixie, what a PITA. Hope the prostin works this time! Fingers crossed, sweetie. And Anna, sending good vibes to you too.

LOM, I've been mega hormonal too - just this last day really. Think it's because it's my due date today.

Choudru, BH should be a good sign... except I've had them v strongly for weeks and nothing comes of them... boo...

Sarah, One Good Turn is good! Do give it a go.

Silk, wow, a real bloody show! I'm losing mucus all the time (sorry if TMI) now but no blood...

I'm zombified today - I can't live on this 2-3 hours sleep. I am so grumpy and tearful as a result! I feel better this pm as I made Nigella's snowflecked brownies this morning (they are heaven on a plate if anyone wants the recipe, and they freeze brilliantly) and have been out for lunch with my parents.

Going to nap now, so more later! Hugs to all.

jinxed · 31/10/2007 17:03

YAY!!!

IM BACK!!!

OMG, its been the longest 2 days of my life! I hate not having internet.

Pixie - fingers crossed you can avoid CS
Anna - thinking of you

Anyone else nearing the end? Still only 36+2 here so a way to go yet, although wondered if something was kicking off last night as I felt really bad and kept getting tightenings, but went to bed at 6.30pm for 2hrs and then was asleep by 11pm again - think i was just overtired.... thanks to DD2 being a bit poorly.

DH is getting the girls ready for trick or treating - i hate halloween but he acts like a big kid so let him take the girls out while ill be the one up and down to the door!!!
