All sorted! GP called and asked to see me. He's happy it's pregnancy swelling and not a clot so I've managed to swerve a trip up to hospital - huzzah!

Orders are to elevate my legs above my heart (will have to prepare with gaviscon!) and drink lots of water.

Phew!

Lilice · 03/09/2020 16:42

That's good @LatteLover12 you must be relieved. I go lie down when i see that my legs are swelling up. I also got some compression socks. I've noticed the swelling gets bad when i sit for a while without moving my legs (like when i am working on my computer) and it's worse on a hot day.

MooseWL · 03/09/2020 17:18

@margo34 It's very unlike me. I think it's because the bathroom is half finished and it's a mess and builders everywhere so I'm finding random things to clean to make me feel more in control 😂

Lilice · 03/09/2020 18:24

Does anyone know if we are allowed to wear gel nail polish during labour?

LatteLover12 · 03/09/2020 18:28

Very relieved @Lilice! Although if they'd suggested I could have my section early... 🤔

My hospital say no to any nail varnish on fingers or toes. I stopped putting it on my toes a few weeks ago when I could still reach! 😂

It's very strange because I always have polish on my toes (feet 🤮)

Lilice · 03/09/2020 18:46

Yes I know what you mean, i feel naked if I have no polish on my toes. I got a pedicure and manicure 2 weeks ago and got gel on hands and toes. How did you find out that's your hospital policy, did your midwife tell you? My midwife doesn't tell me anything, to he honest it's frustrating how little communication we have

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 03/09/2020 18:55

I had a gel mani pedi before last baby and no one noticed or said anything (and I had an EMCS in the end and didn’t seem to make a difference ). But I have heard anecdotally that you’re not supposed to!

WillowT · 03/09/2020 18:57

@Lilice I had a pedicure today, was bliss but opted for varnish rather than gel incase need to remove quickly. Still got over 2 weeks to go though and really needed the treat. I haven't been told if I'm allowed them or not but surely they should let you know

Sez14 · 03/09/2020 19:21

Hi ladies, congrats too all, im expecting a september baby too. New on here, was wondering if anyone had any tips on managing SPD. Physio to longer waiting list b4 baby and painkillers do not touch it.

CNovittBolden · 03/09/2020 19:24

@Lilice I've been having my nails done throughout my pregnancy and my friend who does them continued to do them throughout both of hers 🙂

Lilice · 03/09/2020 19:54

Thanks @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee @WillowT that's good to know, hopefully it won't be a problem. I've got my next appointment at 38 weeks and will ask then. @CNovittBolden have you been getting gel too?
@Sez14 sorry I have no tips, I've been waiting since beginning of July for a physio appointment and finally have one next week, now that the pain has gone 😑. Would you not be able to get a telephone appointment? Or see an osteopath?

Sez14 · 03/09/2020 20:43

@lilice unfortunately not, everywhere is either booked or closed thanks to covid still. Think its one of those things you have to deal with till bubs is here i guess
Fingers crossed, wont be too long now. Thankyou for replying

flameprincess · 03/09/2020 22:57

I'm going to a reflexology session tomorrow and apparently they can do all sorts of weird things to get rid of ailments - it's normally free in my area at the maternity centre but they aren't doing it due to Covid so I've made a private appointment via Treatwell. Not done it before but will see if it has any effect and let you know!

ShiningStarz · 03/09/2020 23:30

What does early labour feel like??
Baby is moving around loads but every so often I get a sharp pain in my bum and lower back 🤔

LatteLover12 · 04/09/2020 07:09

It can feel different for different women @ShiningStarz

Mine started with period-like pain and moved round to my back and the tops of my legs.

I still remember how surprised I was at being completely pain free between contractions.

How are you this morning?

@Lilice yes, it was my midwife who told me but it's also in my paperwork for my section I can't wait to have them redone after baby!

My pelvis has given up on me I think. I had two big 'clunks' last night as I tried to turn over in bed. It's so painful. In a way I'm grateful my body has waited until now to start falling apart but the school run this morning is really not appealing!

Who ever said they were going for reflexology enjoy! I had some years ago and it was so relaxing and it worked!

ShiningStarz · 04/09/2020 07:54

@LatteLover12 back to feeling normal this morning!! Typical. Baby was just moving around like crazy last night.

Hope your pelvis pain is ok 💕

Good luck for c section today @ChipsAreLife

OrDis · 04/09/2020 08:27

I’ve been getting some sharp pains in the bum and private parts when she’s moving around loads @ShiningStarz. I think she’s head butting me 🤣🤣

UrsulaSings · 04/09/2020 08:38

@ChipsAreLife good luck today for your section. Bet you cant wait to meet your baby!

@LatteLover12 that sounds so horrendous about your pelvis. I hate the night times now as it's always when my pelvis hurts the most, even with pillows etc, but that just sounds on another level. Can anyone help you with the school run in these last weeks? Hope it went ok.

@ShiningStarz what you describe sounds a lot like the nerve pain I've been having on and off for the last few weeks which the midwife said was babys head going lower in my pelvis and rubbing against nerves. So it sounds like it's going in the right direction! What day is your induction booked for?

I had a really bad night last night. Been getting contractions that feel like what you described latte, but fairly mild (although still painful), but they've been about every 10 mins alllllll night. Hardly slept at all. Ended up having some codeine as paracetamol wasnt cutting it so I could sleep a couple hours. I feel absolutely exhausted and I havent even started proper labour yet, which worries me slightly. I didnt think this 'early' bit could go on so long. I will be so pissed off if my stupid cervix still isnt dilated enough after all this!! They're taking the pessary out at 12.30 and examining me then to decide if they can break my waters.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Lazydaisydaydream · 04/09/2020 08:59

I just lost my mucus plug! Had a sweep yesterday and really hoping things get going... I'm ready for this baby to come out now!

OrDis · 04/09/2020 09:03

Aww @UrsulaSings fingers crossed the contractions in the night will have allowed some progress and they’ll be able to get things going more swiftly for you today.

ShiningStarz · 04/09/2020 09:07

Flip @UrsulaSings it's taking forever! You poor thing I really feel for you. Hopefully tho once waters break it'll speed up really quick.

Your so lucky @Lazydaisydaydream my sweep didn't do anything!!! Exciting!!

LatteLover12 · 04/09/2020 09:32

Ooh @UrsulaSings and @Lazydaisydaydream I really hope this is the day for you. It's so frustrating when it drags on. I had my sweep on the Friday and didn't have DS1 until the Monday 🤯

I think I could ask another mum on my street if I become less mobile, that's a good idea 🙂

Good luck with your section today @ChipsAreLife I was feeling anxious about mine and now I think I'd let the porter do it if it meant getting him out sooner 😂

Hope everyone has a good day x

ShiningStarz · 04/09/2020 09:41

@LatteLover12 I had my sweep wed midday so I don't think it's worked :( almost 48 hrs now and no signs at all!!!

LatteLover12 · 04/09/2020 09:52

Ah balls! Will they try again?

sianyflewog · 04/09/2020 10:20

Congratulations @TJ17 and @annie1994! I can’t quite believe all these babies are arriving now even though I know it’s September!

Good luck for today @ChipsAreLife

@MooseWL All very well you washing the sofa covers, but have you packed that bag yet? 😂

We’re going to paint the nursery on Monday. Nothing like last minute. I also have done zero batch cooking, even though I made a list of all the food I was going to make, and instead am just planning quick and easy meals to make once she’s here! Probably a little bit in denial of what it was like last time!
