I'v got a sweep tomorrow afternoon!! Not looking forward to it at all!! I am hoping it will start things off naturally though and avoid induction next week 🤞🤞🙏

Chanel05 · 01/09/2020 21:58

@ShiningStarz fingers crossed for you! Let us know how the sweep goes.

LatteLover12 · 01/09/2020 22:13

Ooh fingers crossed @ShiningStarz

Lightening crotch has arrived in full force today! That on top of the pgp means I now walk like an old cowboy 🤠 🤣

ShiningStarz · 01/09/2020 22:15

Thanks @LatteLover12 @Chanel05 my partner doesn't want to come with me.. funnily enough !!!
Lightening crotch comes and goes for me !! So uncomfortable 😫

UrsulaSings · 01/09/2020 22:54

Thanks so much everyone for your messages of luck! They did the first pessary at 3pm and that will stay in now for 32 hrs to see if anything happens. Nothing so far which is disappointing, but it's still early days. Just hate all the waiting around and anticipation!

@ShiningStarz I think I packed everything but the kitchen sink! I've been obsessively re-packing for the last 6 weeks. I've packed 1 x Pjs, 2 x nighties, about 2 x outfits for day clothes, dressing gown, flip flops, slippers, lots of toiletries, GD friendly snacks, kindle, tablet with downloaded films/tv series, my pillow, ear plugs, face mask, fan. And that's not including all the baby stuff and postpartum stuff like sanitary pads, big knickers, sleep/nursing bra, breast pads etc. I actually felt like I was moving in when I rocked up with all those bags! And please dont stress about not getting colostrum. A friend of mine took 90 mins to get a single drop the first time she managed to get a bit out and she's been really successful with breastfeeding. The breastfeeding consultant I spoke to was really clear that the amount you get before baby is born has no bearing whatsoever on how much you will produce afterward. As I also have GD I wanted to collect colostrum so I understand why you feel it's so important, but remember that even if you dont collect any, its entirely possible that baby will be plonked on your chest and feed straight away anyway.

Lilice · 01/09/2020 23:03

Good luck with the sweep @ShiningStarz 🤞things start moving for you @UrsulaSings

ShiningStarz · 01/09/2020 23:05

@UrsulaSings haha you are so organised!! Youv everything you could possibly need!! I must remember to pack comfy clothes for walking around the hospital.
I hope your pessary works for you 🤞🤞
I was told they'd give me 24hrs and then it's breaking of waters and drip however I am going in late at 40 weeks! Hope you sleep well, are they monitoring you and baby or just left you with pessary in? Xx

ShiningStarz · 01/09/2020 23:06

Thanks @Lilice

UrsulaSings · 02/09/2020 00:23

@ShiningStarz they monitored me and baby a couple times since I been here but now overnight they are just leaving me to get some rest. Luckily I am in a side room so not disturbed by other people and things going on in the night so much!

ShiningStarz · 02/09/2020 06:01

@UrsulaSings that's great you have your own room. I hope you are comfortable and 🤞 things may have progressed for you overnight? Is your partner with u? I'm actually nervous about being in hospital on my own!! I'm such a baby lol xx

UrsulaSings · 02/09/2020 07:35

@ShiningStarz I dont think that's being a baby not wanting to be in hospital on your own! I was having soo much anxiety at the prospect of being on my own in here until in established labour. Luckily they have lifted some restrictions so DP can be here some of the time. I've been having mild on-off pains, but nothing interesting yet!

flameprincess · 02/09/2020 07:36

Ursula your hospital bag puts mine to shame I think I need to go and rethink it Shock

I've been up since 4am. Crazy wind pain in my back. Lay on my upstairs landing with legs in the air, then doing crawl downstairs motions to move it. Finally worked but then body decides I was ravenously hungry. Ate a nutrigrain bar. Halfway through it body decides it no longer wants food and I throw up said nutrigrain bar. Gave up trying to sleep and came downstairs.

3 more weeks of this ..... Angry

UrsulaSings · 02/09/2020 07:59

@flameprincess your post made me laugh as I can so relate! Late pregnancy is just delightful isnt it! And honestly I really did get obsessive over the hospital bag. The other day I had a hormonal anxiety meltdown and was crying going 'Look! Look how much stuff I'm bringing with me!' and DP was like 'why are you crying about that? I don't understand', and I just said 'I dont know!! But look at all the stuff!'

flameprincess · 02/09/2020 08:14

@UrsulaSings oh god it's a rollercoaster of emotions and indigestion and I want to get off Grin

See here was me thinking I'm being OTT taking a suitcase as when people say overnight bag I imagine some dainty little holdall thing - but since you got away with so much I'm embracing the suitcase. I need the extra room for my big knickers alone!

OrDis · 02/09/2020 08:52

I’ve got a small suitcase packed (cabin bag size) and the baby changing bag full of baby stuff and even they are rammed to breaking point! I don’t know how anyone would manage with less!

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 02/09/2020 09:02

Oh god the heartburn!!!!!! It actually woke me up 3 times last night (in addition to all the usual wakings!). Enjoying reading about all the developments ladies ! 6 days until my section finished last that long !

OrDis · 02/09/2020 09:05

Oooo @MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee the countdown is on!!! How exciting!!! I find it really odd not knowing when it may happen, although i’m not due till 20th so probably a while yet.

I agree with the heartburn. I’ve got three pillows now in bed to prop my head up on. I normally only have one. it seems to help otherwise i’m burping all night and feeling like theres all kinds of yuk in the back of my throat.

I’m batch cooking today i’ve decided. About to head to aldi for supplies! If anyone has any great recipe ideas let me know. So far i’m thinking a chilli, a veggie stew and a meatloaf.

WillowT · 02/09/2020 09:14

@OrDis I'm batch cooking too! I'm going with a chicken ragu, chilli, curry, bolognese, veggie pasta sauces. Going to add meatloaf to that now too!!

I should add I'm not doing this all today 🤣

MooseWL · 02/09/2020 09:16

@OrDis that's my plan for when I start maternity leave filling the freezer. My fave veggie stew is
ohsheglows.com/2016/11/23/cozy-butternut-sweet-potato-and-red-lentil-stew/
Which you can make in huge batches and is really filling. I used to take it to work literally everyday last autumn/winter 🤣
Also hairy bikers sausage casserole is a great autumn one for the freezer (i just sub out to make the sausages veggie 🥕)

OrDis · 02/09/2020 10:39

Ooo the veggie stew sounds yummy @MooseWL! I’ll give that a go!

Emmy2020 · 02/09/2020 11:15

Just woke from my nap! No sleep last night, struggled to breathe, felt like their was no space!
Was up at 6.30am to get my daughter ready and drive her to her first day at secondary school!! It’s in another town, took her to the gate, she was so nervous bless her but lots of teachers at each point to show them where to go. Hope she has a lovely day! So got home and just had to have a nap!
37 weeks today!
I have a suitcase as my hospital bag, it is a cabin size one, thought it’s easier than a bag as can be pulled along instead of carrying. It’s full of stuff though!

Emmy2020 · 02/09/2020 11:18

Good luck @ShiningStarz and @UrsulaSings 🤗
@MooseWL Now want sausage casserole I’ll have to look up the recipe!

MooseWL · 02/09/2020 11:55

@emmy2020 this one www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/great_sausage_casserole_73010
☺️
Aw must be weird for everyone going back to school after so long!

Last night I slept from 10.30 to 4.30 without waking up. I was so shocked as i normally wake at least 2 times between those hours to wee I didn't believe the clock it felt amazing!
Think it's the best sleep I've had whilst pregnant!
But then I was wide awake at 4.30 thinking about food and googling a burger place I really want to go to and looking at the menu 🤣🤣

Margo34 · 02/09/2020 12:09

I've been batch cooking too and already accumulated a good little stash!
Making a lasagne to freeze today too - my fav comfort food.

I've already cooked up:

Don't forget you can freeze cakes and brownies too (before they're iced)!!!

OrDis · 02/09/2020 13:20

Wow @Margo34 you are doing well! I like the sound of that teriyaki chicken. Will add that to the list. I’ve got a veggie hot pot on now! Should get at least 4 portions from it I think! Going to try and do one meal a day for the next few days.
