Being towards the end of the pack actually having this baby arrive still feels a long way off. But some of you being so close now makes it all seem a little more real and imminent 😂

liquoricecravings · 09/08/2020 23:46

@Chanel05 I'm due on 9th September and we don't know what we're having 💛

We've got two boys names we really like so if we have a boy we'll see which one seems to suit him better. We're finding choosing a girl's name much harder. I think there are so many pretty girl's names it is harder to pick one. I'm hoping if we have a girl it will become clearer which name feels right when we see her and hold her. It seems such a big decision.

Smilymami · 09/08/2020 23:52

I'm having period-like cramps and painful contractions unlike BH.. though not regular. I keep emptying my bowel.. (sorry TMI) several times a day. Early signs?? I'm both excited and nervous.

annie1994 · 10/08/2020 06:57

Sorry I’m not very good at keeping up on this!! I’m due a little boy on 1st September 😊 tomorrow I’m going to be 37 weeks and full term 😳

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 10/08/2020 07:22

Ooh @Smilymami any update ?

ChipsAreLife · 10/08/2020 07:40

@Smilymami that's exactly what I've had! And loads of pressure in my vagina too. But it keeps stop starting. According to google it can go on for weeks. Great!!!

@HugeAgeGap do you know I packed the bag got into bed and then realised bar pants I'd
Packed nothing for me 🤣🤣🤣. I need to properly sort it next week but at least it's enough to get me through if it does happen!

It's my last week of work 🥳🍾 I'm so looking forward to it as need to get all the baby stuff sorted and clean the pram, car seat etc. Plus promised the girls some day trips. Just need to plan and make sure there are loos as I can't stop peeing!!!!

My job over the next few days is to actually pack my bag, have been putting things in as I buy them so have maternity pads and snacks etc but don't have any clothes for me or the baby yet haha.

Keep getting pains and having a little panic that it's starting! I'm not ready! Think they are just more Braxton Hicks though.

ChipsAreLife · 10/08/2020 08:23

Oh good point @Lazydaisydaydream I haven't even got the snacks! *adds to this weeks Ocado order 🤣🤣🤣

My head is all over the shop! Trying to wrap up work, get ready for baby and sort girls uniform etc!

Yes same - I think I have all the stuff for the hospital bag somewhere about but don’t seem to get around to actually packing it yet !! 2 weeks left of work For me!!

Lilice · 10/08/2020 11:46

@MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee same here - I have all the stuff now, just need to put it in the bag. Although now reading this, i realised i forgot about the granny pants and snacks.
@annie1994 oh wow full term already, could be any day now then! How exciting 😀
Same as you @NeuroMama I'm due towards the end of September so I think it will get real when we hit september. I still havent read my breastfeeding book nor done the antenatal classes 😱😱😱 I got a hypnobirthing book on audible but listening to it makes me fall asleep 😴

NeuroMama · 10/08/2020 14:04

@lilice Same! I've got several books and hypnobirthing digital course, all of which I am about 10% because every time I sit down for them going to sleep seems more appealing! I am glad my brain has been so not anxious during pregnancy but I'm starting to feel like a bad mother 😂

NeuroMama · 10/08/2020 14:34

Although I did start drinking raspberry leaf tea today so that's 1 point to team birth prep 👍

annie1994 · 10/08/2020 15:23

@Lilice I know can’t believe tomorrow I’m officially full term 😳😖 I don’t feel like I’ve had any Braxton Hicks though? I get “period pains” on and off but can that be normal to not have Braxton Hicks?

Hope everyone else is ok, I’m struggling so much in this heat!! Another day of 35 degrees 🥵

Lilice · 10/08/2020 15:44

@NeuroMama I'm relieved I'm not the only one lol I feel like a student again waiting till the last minute to finish an assignment 🙃
@annie1994 I've never felt braxton-hicks, not every one gets them. I'm also struggling in the heat and my legs swell if I sit for too long. I look forward to the temperatures going down again, im worried my fan is going to die soon after being permanently on

Emmy2020 · 10/08/2020 16:01

@annie1994 I don’t think I’ve ever had braxton hicks either.

Emmy2020 · 10/08/2020 16:05

Had a lovely weekend away in Cardiff with my best friend, was so nice to get away 😊
Feeling huge today, trying to keep out of the sun! Went to my mother in laws earlier and had a lovely nap there as her house is so cold as it’s old and has high ceilings, it was amazing wish I could of stayed there! Now back to my hot house lying in front of the fan 😂

MooseWL · 10/08/2020 16:15

@Annie1994 I've not had braxton hicks either. I do keep getting stitch in my bump when going for walks now!
@emmy2020 glad you had a great weekend away! I can't wait for my spa break tomorrow! I was having a facial as they said due to reduced treatments they weren't doing pregnancy massages atm, but now the guidelines say facials aren't allowed so they've said I can have the pregnancy massage 😍
@lilice @neuromama I'm 2/3 of the way through my hypnobirthing course but it's taking me forever! Every time I see the midwife she asks if I've watched the trusts antenatal videos or done any reading around breastfeeding yet and I'm like ummm... I feel like these last few weeks are gonna go really quickly!

ShiningStarz · 10/08/2020 17:03

@Smilymami hope you are ok??

I have my bag packed!! Bought load of snacks and also cans fizzy drink for DH all in the fridge and ready to grab!! I don't have granny pants tho. Iv what I refer too as my normal period pants and maternity pads... I'm tempted to buy the pull on disposables with the pads in them.. 🤔

Smilymami · 10/08/2020 18:06

@ShiningStarz I am okay, thanks dear. I expressed 5ml of colostrum today.. so pleased with myself.. lol. Looking forward to seeing the midwife this week, need to know how engaged baby is. I'm very much tired of being pregnant now.

Emmy2020 · 10/08/2020 18:10

@MooseWL Enjoy your spa day at treatment tomorrow 😊

LatteLover12 · 10/08/2020 18:39

Pleased you're okay @Smilymami 😊

I've booked myself something similar @MooseWL I just hope I'm still up for putting a swimsuit on in a fortnight 😂🐳

ShiningStarz · 10/08/2020 19:30

I had my 2.5hr spa treatments today!! Massage, facial and pedi. It was bliss!!!

Now lying with feet up reading my breast feeding book!!

@Smilymami glad you are ok and well
Done on the colostrum expressing?? Did it take a while to get going?? Hard?? Also did you express on sterile spoon and suck it up in syringe?

Piper1879 · 10/08/2020 20:15

@ShiningStarz so pleased you had a good
time ! I went swimming today and I'm exhausted but was lovely to be in a cool pool for nearly an hour !

Just repacking my bag now !! Any tips for c sections ? As I know it's going to be slightly more interesting to get in and out of
Bed

Also not to sound dumb but ftm and hospital stay ever , what actually happens after you've had the baby ?

LatteLover12 · 10/08/2020 20:47

I'm having a section too @Piper1879 I'd recommend a bottle with a sports cap or a straw as its tricky to drink early on.

After you've delivered baby it takes about 40 minutes to stitch you back up (much longer than actually getting baby out!)

When you're done they'll transfer you to a trolley and take you to recovery where you have to wait until the spinal has worn off. This took about 3 hours for me last time! After that you'll be wheeled to the post natal ward.

You'll still be relatively immobile and will have a catheter in for a few more hours.

In my experience you'll be ready to eat just as all food has vanished so take snacks for late night hunger.

LatteLover12 · 10/08/2020 20:48

Ooh also, you might get awful, shoulder tip pain. It's just wind. The midwives should give you a peppermint capsule to relieve it.
