@LatteLover12 yep!!! Planning a morning of doing absolutely nothing tomorrow, lie in...cold bath....watch Netflix...cant wait haha. I'll be tired again about ten minutes after I pick my son up from nursery though haha.

Laura1348 · 13/08/2020 20:15

How on Earth are people able to relax? I'm struggling to find a comfy position anywhere! 🤪
If anyone has any tips - please share!
🤞🤞🥺

ShiningStarz · 13/08/2020 20:21

@Emmy2020 I hope your readings are ok xx

@Laura1348 my partner bought me a big long pregnancy pillow back when I was 12 weeks! It was great in bed up until the bump got big and made turning in bed horrendous!! So I use it curled up like a donut on the sofa and it is literally the only
Place I can sit !!!

Lorna198 · 13/08/2020 20:23

@LatteLover12 yup! Morning and afternoon nap today. Both over 2 hours 😂

WillowT · 13/08/2020 21:08

@Laura1348 I know what you mean! I get uncomfortable after 5 mins!

Laura1348 · 13/08/2020 21:27

@ShiningStarz I have one if those- I still
use it in bed! Thanks for the tip.
@WillowT glad I'm not alone! It's so bad at the moment- he feels so very big and heavy.

ShiningStarz · 13/08/2020 21:32

I used to be exhausted come 3pm and would nap at least once or twice a day!! Since I was diagnosed with GD and being careful with carbs, literally eating 1/3 of what I used too, I'm full of energy !! No more naps and actually feel much better.

Emmy2020 · 13/08/2020 22:38

@ShiningStarz Thanks, so far they are okay!

UrsulaSings · 13/08/2020 23:24

@ShiningStarz thanks for that. I've had 2 weekly scans due to polyhydramnios (increased amniotic fluid), which apparently can be caused by GD. So at my 34 week scan he was measuring 5lb 15oz. My next scan is next Thurs at 37 weeks, so we'll see how much he's grown and what the fluid levels are like. He's bigger than your baby though! But it honestly doesnt worry me. I've been told by so many health professionals that bigger babies can be easier to birth, and if it's just the tummy measurement that is a bit big, well that's the squishy part anyway! The only reason I wouldnt want him to be big is because I know theyll be more likely to suggest induction, which I really dont want as I think it can be more painful than going naturally and I cant have an epidural due to previous spinal surgery.

@LatteLover12 yes! I'm finding everything such an effort these days! Takes ages to get anything done!

ShiningStarz · 14/08/2020 08:20

The scans are so hit and miss too @UrsulaSings
I think the growth is really positive, some people just cook bigger babies 😊
I'm definitely booked in for an induction on my exact due date, not keen either!! Will ask at my next appt (week 38) for 2 membrane sweeps week 39 to hopefully get things moving naturally 🤞🤞 I'v read success rate of the sweep really varies so here's hoping !!

Emmy2020 · 14/08/2020 09:13

Anyone know what an induction is like? I’ve never had one. They’ve said I will have one if I go over my due date.

Chanel05 · 14/08/2020 09:37

Think I'm starting to lose my plug possibly. Pink mucus this morning. Anyone else had this? 35+3.

ChipsAreLife · 14/08/2020 10:22

@Emmy2020 I had an induction with my first. It was with a pessary gel. Contractions started pretty quickly and were quite strong and close together within two hours so was moved to labour ward and was allowed in the pool.

Despite my good contractions my cervix just wasn't playing ball and I ended up having to go on a drip and have my waters broken but i didn't get passed 5cm and then things went a bit downhill. We discovered during my section it was because baby was twisted so that's why cervix wouldn't dilate. If the head had been straight they reckon it would have been a few hours 😝

@Chanel05 ohhh exciting! My plug went after a sweep but nothing really happened. Apparently they can come out and regrow sometimes. Do you have any other symptoms at all? Maybe just get a bag packed if you've not already xx

Little bit late but congratulations @Sara7455 on Wren coming home. Hope you’re both doing well!

And to @Bubble29 on the birth of your twins! Hope you’re all well.

Sorry I’ve been completing MIA - hope I haven’t missed any more birth announcements!, but I’m finding it so hard with having H at home, feeling generally exhausted plus the weather. He’s in nursery today so going to try and get a bag mostly packed!

ShiningStarz · 14/08/2020 11:25

Eeeeeek @Chanel05 how exciting!!! Defo get that bag packed!!

Anyone had membrane sweeps??

Emmy2020 · 14/08/2020 12:08

@ChipsAreLife Thank you, hopefully it’ll just happen naturally but interesting to know what Inductions are like.
@Chanel05 Ooh you never know, you might be the next one here to have a baby!
@ShiningStarz I did with my my first and it worked, I went into labour that evening.

Laura1348 · 14/08/2020 12:13

I'm being induced using the rods Monday 24th. Very nervous. Got two sweeps next weeks so hoping they work!
😬😬🤞

Emmy2020 · 14/08/2020 12:14

Rods sound scary 😂 Hopefully the sweeps work for you! 🤞

annie1994 · 14/08/2020 13:03

@ShiningStarz I’ve not had a sweep but I’m worrying about them!! Are they painful 😣

Also, has anyone had contact with their health visitor yet? I’m due a phone call this afternoon from mine but not really sure what we’re going to talk about 🤔

ShiningStarz · 14/08/2020 13:05

@Emmy2020 what's a sweep feel like?!
@Laura1348 let us know how you get on!! I'm trying to book my first sweep week of 1st sept. They offered me the week before when I'll be 38 but our house is upside down !!! Renovations lol

ChipsAreLife · 14/08/2020 13:13

I've had a sweep. I wouldn't say it was painful more uncomfortable. They'll get you into a position to help it feel as nice as possible lol. Your cervix has to be favourable though. When I tried to have one at 40 weeks mine was high and closed so she couldn't do it

Lazydaisydaydream · 14/08/2020 13:46

I've had a couple of quite strong pains... Currently playing the "Braxton Hicks or contractions?" game Shock part of me thinks it's just the heat and some dehydration so have been chugging water to try and combat this heat!!

MooseWL · 14/08/2020 13:47

@Annie1994 my health visitor called me a few months ago just lots of questions like the booking in appointments about diet/smoking/home life etc. She went through the post natal visits that they do and then gave me contact details for breastfeeding support services etc and stuff about safe sleeping.

LatteLover12 · 14/08/2020 14:39

Pleased it's not just me napping!

Ooh @Chanel05 sounds promising!

I had a sweep with DS1, it wasn't painful just a bit weird/uncomfortable and it got me into labour so was totally worth it!

I had a phone call with the HV a couple of weeks ago. She asked about mine and DPs family history and upbringing, whether I took drugs (😳) how I discipline my boys. It was all rather OTT in my opinion.

ShiningStarz · 14/08/2020 14:55

@ChipsAreLife ah I didn't realise they couldn't do it if the cervix wasn't favourable. I'm booked in for a sweep a week before my induction date. I'll only get the one chance before they induce me so fingers and toes crossed!!!
