Sparkly, so pleased you both came home. Fingers crossed he's going to be absolutely fine come Tuesday. Bless him - he's been such a little fighter.

sparklygothkat · 12/10/2007 21:12

the doctor just didn;t want to put him through tests if it isn't needed, and because he isn't 21 days old yet (when they start to worry) the doc said to wait. The doctor did enjoy a cuddle tho. he said that Callum was lovely [proud mummy]

Evening everyone!

Yay it's friday!!! Booooooo, i've gotta go from Kent to Manchester tomorrow for a gig - yes yes i know. I'm playing from 12.45am to 2am (if my eyes remain open that late!) but as it's only a small little room in a pub, it doesn't pose any problems to my safety etc, especially as it's all non-smoking now. If the smoking ban wasn't here, i wouldn't have offered to do it all!

Lizzie - Yup, those hormones will get ya every time! At the time that i had the braids, my hair was probably just touching my shoulders, so most of them were extensions. I think unless you have afro hair the extensions can end up looking a bit fluffy and naff after a while. This is why i like the extended braids - plus i could never grow my hair that long!!

Aiki - thanx but i think the camera has just caught me at good angles.

Sarah - nice pics of you too! Do you know, until i just now, i always thought your name was "sarahloudmadam" and it wasn't until i looked at your pics that i thought you didn't look like a very loud madam! Gawd, what an idiot i am!! Oh and 3 days left to go for me!

Fiona - Another great set of piccies! I swear everyone's bumps looked much more compact than mine! I will try and get DP to take a (decent) pic of bump tomorrow and then upload it.

Easy - your babies are beautiful!!!!

Kayla - hehe thanx I have told DP that i would like to get them done again so he'll have to put up with my hair going through an in between stage until it's long enough for the braid extensions again. yay!

choc - so pleased LO is the right way up. That must be a huge relief for you!

Sparkly - glad Callum is home with you again. fingers crossed he recovers for Tuesday.

RGPargy · 12/10/2007 22:24

LOOPY!!!

silkcushion · 12/10/2007 23:14

sparkly - glad to hear yr both home.

Easy - yr little girls look delicious, are they as sweet as they look? (am baby stalking again! Well toddler stalking)

Hurrah to all the pictures - glad everyone else has managed to do it. Have bought a digital camera in Tescos this week - cos we didn't have any camera. Will get piccies done this weekend maybe.

Is chronic backache a sign of impending labour? Started this morning and has worsened all day. Am in agony unless I'mm leaning on birthing ball or on all fours. No other symptoms though.

sparklygothkat · 12/10/2007 23:15

ooooooooooooo silk, my labour started with lower back pain

silkcushion · 12/10/2007 23:19

omg really? Well it's certainly spurred me on to get the hospital bag packed.

Not sure what to amke of it all really. Could just be that my back is aching cos of baby bump getting bigger. But on the other hand it is such a persistent ache.....

am a bit worried now.

sparklygothkat · 12/10/2007 23:22

i had contractions too, but my back ached all through labour

AnnainNZ · 13/10/2007 00:05

Silk, keep us updated. Any developments? Remember I'm awake here all through your night and will be checking for any news...

Loving everyone's photos. Have stuck a couple on my profile too.

berrybliss · 13/10/2007 04:56

Anna-Your photos are lovely the 3D scans are so clear. NZ looks lovey ...sigh oh how i'd like to live somewhere hot.

Oh silk how exciting i wonder if baby number two will be with us shortly. Keep us posted!

SGK- Glad to hear Callum is home again.

ChocolateHobnob · 13/10/2007 08:51

Hi All

Silk, how are you doing? Thinking of you.

RG, can't believe you're doing a gig! I think I'm doing well going to work every day and cooking dinner etc, and you're doing a gig! Wow!

Anna those scans are really clear! And lovely to see you too.

I don't think I'll manage photos till lo comes along...

Well, this is a nice day for us. Going for a habitual coffee and cookie this morning and a wander round Mamas and Papas (that shop seriously makes me aspirational) and Borders (I'm a book addict), and then a hunt for Wispas cos we're running out despite having bought quite a few (mmm, blame lo for that - it seems to like Wispa)... and then out for lunch with my parents. All nice things.

Having the scan was fab because now I know for sure that lo's bottom is almost in my right breast (!) - well it isnt but it's right underneath. I get sore there sometimes - think its bottom is stretching me a bit! Might be all those Wispas.

Have a good day all of you and Silk - let us know!!!

iris66 · 13/10/2007 09:14

ooooh silkcushion!!!! hope everything goes well if this is your day

I am sooo tired today. I made the stupid mistake of staying in bed after I'd woken wide awake at 5. Next woke at 8.30 and feel like death on a stick. I think a day of rest is called for

izyboy · 13/10/2007 11:59

Hi Sparkly hope Callum is on the mend. My DS1 has jaundice after about 5 days, but this was treated as a fairly routine occurance (he was born 42 weeks) not sure if it is more of an issue for premmie babies.

They simply said to let him rest for short periods in a spot next to a window that had lots of daylight (I guess for vit D?) and to feed regularly.

He was definitely orange tho' I used to call it his Des O'Conner tan. It faded over a few days.

Hi

Ive just found this site , so if its ok id like to join you, better late than never. I am due Nove 8th but have placenta previa so getting scanned on Wednesday to se if its moved. Then they will decide if I need a C section at 39 weeks.

Cant wait to meet my baby and really feeling soooooo pregnant. Aches and pains all over and remembering fondly the second trimester when pregnancy was wonderful.

Look forward to chatting with you all

AnnainNZ · 13/10/2007 15:53

Hello Clu. Have you got other children? Just asking cos placenta previa is quite rare in a first pg isn't it? I know what you mean about the second trimester - I felt great, sooooo well and "blooming". And I could turn over in bed without feeling like I needed a crane to haul me over!

Berry, it's not hot all the time in NZ - I wish! It's 4am and blowing a gale at the mo and I can't sleep. It is very nice a lot of the time tho.

silkcushion · 13/10/2007 16:42

Still here and not producing babysilk!!!

Couldn't sleep most of the night - backache nonstop. Then weird stuff going on - lots of painful braxton hicks and today it feels like period pains in my lower abdomen as well.

Have realised that I don't know what a contraction feels like - I assumed the whole bump would hurt not just the lower bit.

All this will probably come to nothing and I'll go 2 weeks overdue . I have a day booked at a spa with my mum on Monday so I would like to make it to that. But, I would also like to meet my baby so I won't mind if she comes early. 36+3 at the moment.

Anna - I should have stayed on line chatting to you all night instead of lying awake wondering what the hell was going on.

Anyway - I'll let you know if anything changes. Might have to show DH the site so he knows how to inform you when the time comes. Poor DH

silkcushion · 13/10/2007 16:44

Oh and hello Clu. Girl at my yoga class has possible placenta praevia too and she is a first time mum. Hope it works out ok for you.

ChocolateHobnob · 13/10/2007 17:05

Hello Clu! My mum had placenta previa with me (first baby) and ended up with emergency C-section at 37 weeks. Then with my brother there was no problem at all and she had him vaginally. I hope your placenta has moved, but otherwise the C-section will be good as it's planned.

Silk, it still sounds to me like something is happening to you!

Had a good day today - this morning pottered around Mamas and Papas and Mothercare - got pressies for lots of the small kids we know for Xmas - and Borders and Starbucks for the inevitable choc shortbread. Got lots more baby stuff - a baby gym, a swinging cradle seat thing, a Dreampod, etc. Then went out with my parents for lunch and onto a market town a little way from here for a wander. Just back.

Oh and found some more Wispas to feed my addiction.

Enjoy the rugby!

clu · 13/10/2007 17:55

Hi thanks for all the welcomes

Anna - No this is my first, none of the apparent reasons for placenta previa apply to me , mutiple births, twins, smoking or cocaine just one of those things. MW said it is just where they placenta decides to attach itself.

Silk - the spa sounds nice hope you make it

Chocolate - I thought it would affect every pregnancy so Im glad to hear it doesnt. SOunds like you had a nice day, I need to start Xmas shopping but think ill wait until payday.

Did they bring out the wispa gold or was it just the plain wispa??

ooooh {groan} the shoulders on some of those players DH better watch out later

Loopy - bet you can't wait to try out your new bed tonight - what a treat your topper sounds! CAn you let me know how you make the pictures smaller btw when you do it - I can't load any either (am such a trog )

Everyone's piccies are lovely (so why does everyone put themselves down I wonder - it's that girl thing isn't it )

Berrybliss - you look like a you should be a moggle (ahh sweet memories of being young and gorgeous)

clu - welcome to the thread Hope you get whatever news you want from your scan. it must be so frustrating waiting to find out.
I'd forgotten about the wispa gold! wish they'd bring back the dark choc twixes tho - but then I'm a big Green & Blacks addict now so maybe wouldn't like them so much.

Silkcushion - glad you're still around & hope the backache goes soon (chuck it over here if you like - but only if contractions come with it! - I'm 37wks on monday and have just got emergency childcare sorted )

Anna - hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.

off to drool over the rugby chaps...

jetgirl · 13/10/2007 21:03

several days to catch up on...If I'm repeating things others have siad it's because I'm writing as I read so I don't forget anything!!

Hi geekinpigtails - re scratch mitts. For some reason we ended up with about 20 pairs of the things. They fall off all the time, we were also told if baby's nails are long to bite them as opposed to cut them as you are more likely to cut the baby's finger with scissors than your teeth. It worked for us anyway. Did you see that 4 women were turned away from the PAH last Saturday as they were short of midwives? 3 gave birth in Winchester and one in Poole instead! Mmmmm, that's comforting Let's hope we go in on a quiet day!

capecodder - 10 inches?!!! surely you mean 10 cm for full dilation?

RG - I do the holding the babygro on my tummy thing too
LOL at your wispa/tampax story

Sparkly - thinking of you and Callum.

Have just spent a couple of days at my mum's at DH went on a work jolly, and I didn't fancy being at home with the world's most energetic 2 year old and going into labour! It was lovely to be looked after a bit, and for DD to have someone else to play with/entertain. however, she woke up both nights crying 'Where's my daddy gone?' and was quite hard to settle. It was heartbreaking to listen to as well. Tonight of course she rejected daddy and asked for me to put her to bed, I think she was punishing him!

Going to spend a bit of time checking out everyone's profiles, then stick some more pics on mine.
