Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
iris66 · 12/10/2007 12:14

RGPargy - your hair looks great in braids! - but then it looks great short too. I thought you mentioned your birthday was 27th Nov!!! (oops!) sorry

Easywriter - do you have some kind of deputy? I'd be tempted to play up your pg & tell them you cannot take up their slack as you're leaving! What do they think's going to happen when you're off? I'm v for you!

RGPargy · 12/10/2007 12:19

Iris - No, my BABY's birthday is 27th November! Mine is mid-January!

silkcushion · 12/10/2007 12:35

RG - you look loads slimmer than I thought you would. I thought you said you were quite big? Am just i suppose. Not sure how to upload a picture to my profile - am a bit of a moron at this sort of thing - but will try.

silkcushion · 12/10/2007 12:45

oh it's really easy to do - only problem now - I don't have any digital photos of me!! Will get Dh to find one when he gets home.

RGPargy · 12/10/2007 12:57

lol thanx Silk, but it's all in the angle of the picture Here's a quick tip for those of us who are "challenged" in the chin area. The common mistake people make to try and hide a double chin is to put their head up. BIG mistake. This will emphasize it. If you actually tilt your head DOWN, it will hide your chin. Obviously dont put your head RIGHT down as it will make you look like a moron if you've got your chin on your chest but you're looking at the camera!! It's a simple but effective trick ladies! Remember that one for those "after the birth" poses.

thelady · 12/10/2007 13:09

Oh well, if we're talking pictures....

DH took one on Weds that he's pleased with. It's on my profile. I think you can work out how I feel about it by the expression on my face

RGPargy · 12/10/2007 13:11

thelady - Nice pic! Beautiful background too! Is that your hotel?

Loopy - i AM a lardarse larger person, honestly! I was a size 22 before i got pg. Have you noticed that all the pics are from the top of the chest upwards? You cant actually SEE my body. So ner!

Also, i think i would deffo have to be braver to go to hospital too. It's almost as if staying at home is putting my head in the sand about the fact that i'm just about to give birth. But hey, i like it that way!

Aiki - cant comment on the nappies as i've only used disposables, but you really shouldn't listen to negative comments about BF. I cant believe there would actually BE any negative comments about it!

I've put some pictures on now too as i felt left out!
RG-I sometimes have braids too, But i find after a while they drive me mad! Also don't you find when you first have them put in it feels like you'v had a face lift, and don't get me on trying to sleep with them in!

But yours do really suit you, I think you should have them put in again, do you have colours? The best part is you can get up and not have to worry!

berrybliss · 12/10/2007 13:48

I know i look like i'm about 14, but i'm not honestly!

Kayla, I was induced with my first at 41 weeks because I started getting irregular contractions and the baby was suffering (his heart rate dropped at each contraction). To be honest I will prefer not to be induced this time but mine wasn't a horror story at all. Yes, it was painful because the contractions were fast and furious but I managed with gas and air and pethidine. It wasn't too long either, they started the induction on Tuesday morning and I started getting proper contractions in the evening, by 3:30 am I was fully dilated and he was born at 4:30 on Wednesday morning and I was the only one that night with a 'normal' delivery (the rest had some sort of intervention, either a cesarean or forceps). So honestly it is not that bad. The worst thing for me was the lack of mobility, I was stuck on the bed attached to a drip, apart from that it was fine.

berrybliss · 12/10/2007 14:00

Are you still in the Navy? What part? It sounds like such an exciting job! Can we see pictures of you now...... I'm so nosy i like finding out what people look like, as its never as i imagine....

berrybliss · 12/10/2007 14:03

Oh and thankyou the picture was taken by one of my friends from my Photography class in 6th form.

I'm with you there Loopy i think being a mum is the most exciting job of all

RGPargy · 12/10/2007 14:21

Loopy - yes i think you're right about the older female rellies being the negative ones!Thankfully, my MIL breastfed until DP was 2 1/2 years old so she is VERY pro-BF. In the beginning she was very pro-bf to the point where i felt pressurised to do it (i was really unsure at first).

Berry - Nice pics! The braids one is very arty! Yes i do normally have colours, just not all over. The base colour tends to match my own natural colour and then i'll have a few pink and purple braids put in too. The pic on my profile shows the best braids i ever had, colour wise. I absolutely loved it. As i was having a few months off work at the time too, i could have a few more colours than i would normally have. The lady that does mine is sooooo fast too. 5 hours for extra small ones!! I just go to her house and we sit and watch telly for the duration and she's megacheap at something like £40 for the lot. I hear ya about the facelift effect lol. It's a bit tender at first isn't it and the first couple of nights on the pillow are really sore! But yeah, it's great to just get up, take your hair down and you're ready for action. I really miss being able to do that with short hair - it's such a pain!

Loopy (again) - wow you've certainly done some travelling!! I cant wait to be "just" a SAHM!! Only 3 days of work left!! woohoo!!!

sparklygothkat · 12/10/2007 14:51

we have to take callum back to the hospital he is very sleepy, not waking for feeds, jaundice is back, and not gaining weight

thelady · 12/10/2007 14:53

The picture is taken near Jedburgh Abbey, about 4 mins from the hotel and just above the river. The hotel can be seen here

thelady · 12/10/2007 14:55

Sparkly what a bummer . I do hope they manage to sort out whatever-it-is PDQ and you and the wee man can get home together again.

RGPargy · 12/10/2007 15:03

Sorry to hear that Sparkly. I hope they sort him out soon!

KaylaBmummy · 12/10/2007 16:09

Hi All Big thanks to all of you for all your knid words and positive experiences, you have all give me some great info and not put me off by any of your previous infor on induction. Thanks

Feeling a little better today. I have just been to my Midwife. I explained my anxieties and concerns, she could see this had upset me and she phoned and got some answers for me and explained all the medical conditions I have been suffering.

The consultant apologised to her for being so cold as to my feelings but looked at the medical notes on a medical decission and thought that because I had had two vaginal good births before and was previously hoping for a normal vaginal delivery why not take me in two days before c-section at 8.30 in morning. Add some Gel and start to induce me, see how I get on, if I go into labour after a couple of gels then great if I dont then I have c-section for Friday morning at 9.30 so I have nothing to lose. He thought it may be nice to try a vaginal delivery to try and avoid the c-section and end the pregnancy on a positive note after all the illness and pain, if I hit complications or it does not work he will immedicately do c-section, plus it is also booked for Friday if gel dont work. Why he did not say that to me in nice way I dont know, but my midwife is lovely and I think she diplomatically put it alot better and kinder as he did not even make eye contact with me when I was in hospital, just spouted about "induce before c-section".

So, anyway feeling lot more positive today, midwife apologised for him and was a bit niffed, but all sounds better. Still a little apprehensive but can see his point and with discussing it with some of you ladies I think it will be ok to give it a go, Got nothing to lose and as they say better to try and fail than not try at all .

Pixiefish - Thanks for explaining your issues and so sorry your going through the mill as well at this time, Big hugs to you too and hope things get better for you. It will be nice when we are all discussing our babies and all this will be distance memories

Izyboy - Hope the above explains everything and thanks again to everyone including Tonysmum for sharing your positive experience.

Do you all think its a good option to give it a go on what ive said?

Sorry for the long thread, but wanted to explain everything to you all and say thanks after my tearful post yesturday

KaylaBmummy · 12/10/2007 16:11

SGK - So sorry to hear about Callum, thoughts are with you all, hopefully he will be home soon safe and sound. Chin up and sending big hug
