Hi everyone!

I also have mush for brains, got a parking ticket on Saturday as I thought 120mins was 3hrs. Wouldn't mind but I'm a financial analyst!

Started to worry about the birth a bit, but as an experiences friend pointed out. Think of any soppy women you know who offer you a handshake like a lettuce leaf, and have children, if they can do it and cope with it so can you!

Berrybliss - Welcome - but please be super careful with Artex and get someone in to look at it. Depending on when it was done, it may have asbestos in it, so may be worth getting someone else to deal with it properly.

Have updated locations

Littleoldme - Leeds
Loopy - Devon

As for all the other posts (there's been so many in 24 hours!!)

Fiona - I'm very jealous of your leisurely morning, sounds blissful! I had the joy of my MW appointment first thing this morning and broke the news about definitely wanting homebirth.

The good news is that she was quite encouraging and is coming over to my house next week to confirm , the bad news is that she's told me that if my iron levels don't jump up substantially in the next 4 weeks then it would be too dangerous to have LO at home

Regarding ante-natal classes, I have only just booked on to mine as I haven't been provided with any info either. I have managed to book onto a course that completes on the 22nd Nov (cutting it a bit fine as due on the 24th!!)

Welcome Berrybliss!

geekInPigtails · 25/09/2007 12:50

fiona, my classes have about 10 pg ladies, and probably 7 of them have their (male!) partners with them - the rest have their mum or a friend, so I don't think anyone has come to them on their own. Definitely a good idea to take your DP if he can make it!

choudru · 25/09/2007 12:55

Oh gosh Sparkly! It looks like you'll be our first mummy!

Please update us as soon as is practical - I won't be able to get you off my mind now.

Hopefully baby will be fine - at 34 weeks hopefully all they will need to do is put on weight and perhaps a bit of time on a ventilator.

Oooh - I'm sending you all the postive vibes I can muster hon!

I've just got back from the hospital for GTT test. How yucky is that solution they give you?!!! Like cordial without adding water. Yuck.

Feeling tired now from all that fasting so will put my feet up - DH is at home to look after DS so I'll get a nice day of rest.

jetgirl - stop tantelising us and give us that recipe!

Hope there's no other dramas unfolding apart from Sparkly!

Hi girls and all the newbies too theres just no catching up with you lot.

SPK - hope everything goes really well for you and the LO, thinking of you and sending positive vibes xxx

RE: antenatal classes i just rang my local HC and they told me when they were and to just turn up, obviously very different story depending on where you live, i start mine on 10 Oct so should just fit them in if LO comes on DD and not before

feeling good though getting that completely exhausted thing again, and not sleeping well, i kinda go for about 2 hours then just suddenly wake up, how annoying

hope your all blooming
Lxxxxx

OK, time to catch up on all the messages i've printed out (i'm far too lazy to write notes!).

Choudru - Glad you're up for a meet up too! A north and south meet up might be the better idea and those of us who are brave enough could even attend both! Glad you are getting on well at your NCT coffee mornings etc. You sound very organised!

Geek - awww @ your DH wanting permission to have a little cry at the birth. DP and I are also planning a water birth, at home tho rather than a hospital as the last thing i personally want is to have the baby in hospital.

Berry - Loads of people seem to be doing this birthing classes thing. I never did it with my DS (my Ex-DP was not in the slightest bit interested in my pg - but that's another story) and i'm thinking that i am not going to bother with this LO either. It's amazing how much comes back to you, just when you thought you'd forgotten all about babies etc. It's been 17 years since my son was born but now all the memories are flooding back it feels like only yesterday! Oh and it's perfectly normal to worry about absolutely everything in your first pg.

Choudru - dont you DARE take a bite from my virtual donut!!! Glad you finally got the GTT out of the way. I think some people have proper Lucozade and some people have some sort of other glucose drink. I was lucky to have the proper stuff. Let us know how you get on with your results.

Loopy - re Eastenders: Have you sussed out who the bloke in the flat was yet or do you want me to spill the beans?

Silk - My nose would be very put out too if DP had an ex who was suddenly all nice and wanting to cuddle my baby!! I'd be saying "Not on your life, sister!!"

Aiki - Glad the job's going ok. Can you not wear one of those Homer Simpson beer hats with a straw at work, but replace the beer with Gaviscon instead? That way you can multitask while still relieving the heart burn.

Jetgirl - re the mint choc chip cookies - SPILL THE BEANS!!!!!!!

Choc - You really must try and take it easy! I know work can be busy etc, but in reality no one is indispensible so could you not delegate some of your work load?

Superloopy - i'd be careful about inviting people over, even when you're in Melbourne! DP and I plan to retire (well, i'll be retired by then but DP wont ) out in Melbourne so we may look you up!

Floanna - hope your iron levels pick up soon so you can have your home birth!

Hello girls, I ve just spent ages reading all about u all and your great messages to each other and i have to say that u give great advice. I'm due on 1st Nov and would like to join this thread. im off work already due to health probs but am glad times ticking along nicely. just about to do some christmas shopping on line to get it sorted early for my other 2 children.
Am in N Ireland by the way with very swollen hands and fingers!

Floanna · 25/09/2007 15:34

Loopymummy - thanks for the advice about spatone, think I'll give that a try as I've looked it up and it seems to give positive results. My Hb is just below 10 but I'm still quite active and have always been fit and healthy, going to the gym about 3/4 times a week until a couple of months ago. My prob is that I eat very little fish opting for fish whenever possible, so not getting iron from meat!

Silk - I can kinda relate - My LO's father and I are not together but are still friends but he is in another relationship (which is pretty tough on its own) and I hear that his new partner is getting very excited about MY baby - Is it wrong to feel upset by that???

Swollen - welcome!!

RGPargy · 25/09/2007 15:34

Innit Loopy!! I know Ian's a complete TW@T but surely Stephen must be a bit of a loon to go to all that trouble. A bit far fetched really!

Hello and welcome Swollen!!

Floanna · 25/09/2007 15:35

That was supposed to say I eat very little meat ....

swollen · 25/09/2007 15:39

Thanks for the welcome. My MW told me that spatone etc is only useful if ur iron levels are not below 11.0 if thy're below this it's not strong enough and is a waste of money. red meat, sunflower seeds and pure orange helped mine rise a bit but still exhausted all the time with dark circles under eyes which i ve never had before.

choudru · 25/09/2007 16:41

Floanna - why is your LOs father's girlfriend excited about YOUR baby? If you ask wise ol choudru, she is putting it on for for your ex's sake. There is no woman alive who would be excited about their partner's baby with ex.

She probably feels very insecure about it and is worried about how much time and money your ex is going to devote to your LO. I guess rather than sulking about something she can't control, she is trying to pretend she's cool with it.

But whatever - it's her issue, not yours.

I do wonder how I would deal with it if DH had children with other partners. I would definitely be freaked out if the ex was too eager to build up a friendship with me!

RG - sorry, I'll get you a fresh donut

I found out at the hospital today that they don't allow any children in the delivery suite at all. Still not sure what we'll do with DS once I go into labour. Have got MIL on standby but she'll take about 1.5 hours to get to us. I guess DH will have to wait with DS outside the dilvery suite until she arrives. Hope I don't have this baby alone!

Is it the same at all hospitals?

Jetgirl - STILL waiting for that cookie recipe choudru drums her fingers on the keyboard

Don't forget it Supernanny night ladies, followed by that new bringing up baby series.

P.S. - Loopy and RG - who's stephen again? I have dipped in and out of Eastenders for the past few years. Was stephen Cindy's son with Wicksy?

OP posts:
berrybliss · 25/09/2007 16:45

Floanna- I was on Spatone as well but it wasn't that effective. My Hb was 7.2 at its lowest, so i've been signed off work for ages. I was prescribed Ferrous Sulphate Tablets (iron) twice daily + Follic Acid, its taken over 2 months but my HB is now 11! Other alternative are Iron injections if the problem persists or a blood transfusion , but luckily the tablets worked for me!
I'm a Veggie but eat really healthy, lots of pulses spinach etc. but i just think my body isn't very productive when it comes to absorbing Iron naturally as I am mixed raced. (Asian and AfroCaribbean people naturally have lower HB)

WELCOME SWOLLEN!

silkcushion · 25/09/2007 16:49

Hello - a more rational Silk here today. Have got over last night's rant (who am I kidding? I'd scratch her eyes out given half a chance)

Flo - how dare she be excited about yr baby!!! She should have one of her own if she's that bloody excited!

Oooh I'm EVIL today aren't I?

I promise I'm usually very sane and nice.

Actually I had a wonderful experience last night. DH is away for a few days - so I had the bed to myself and slept from 11pm to 6.30am without waking up once. I was so pleased I nearly burst into tears. Surprised I hadn't wet myself though.

Hope SGK and baby sparkle are ok.

RGPargy · 25/09/2007 16:55

Choudru - yeah that's exactly right re Steven. I found this link really helpful and reminded me of what went on aaaages ago.

We were going to go food shopping tonight but i forgot it's Supernanny night and Bringing up Baby too so sod it - takeaway it is!! Although having said that, i've stuffed a whole bag of marshmallows today in one go so i'm feeling really guilty. Should i write the day off with a takeaway or try and be good on the zero food we have?

Re the donut - You can take a bite if you want, but dont touch the jam!!

Floanna · 25/09/2007 17:00

Oh goody, I was hoping for some strong opinions on that issue as it has REALLY gotten my back up and wasn't sure whether I was just being horMENTAL!! She does have a 10 year old but I get the impression that she thinks they are going to have some kind of extended family. To be fair though she not doing my ex any favours as the more she is like that the less time I am going to be inclined to let LO out of my sight!!

I think you may be right though Choudru - we still have quite a good relationship so she must feel a bit unsettled by me [pause to feign concern...!]

BB - I was put on Ferrous Sulphate but they made me really poorly so I'm now on Sytron liquid - fingers crossed for results! I hear sardines are good for iron...?

Silk - Envious of you sleeping through the night, I think I can can go about an hour max between loo trips at the moment!!

choudru · 25/09/2007 17:05

RG - stop wasting valuable brain cell resources that should be concentrating on growing your baby. Just have takeaway woman.

It's takeaway night chez choudru tonight as well since I'm tired from this morning's fasting. DH is suggesting fish'n'chips - mmmmm...

Did make a nice little veggie pie last night though so I think I deserve a night off.

Will investigate the mysterious stephen - ta for the link.

Silk - glad you're calmer now - is it safe for us all to come out from behind our sofas now?

Have to go - they are making chocolate custard on Ready Steady Cook and I need to watch it.

RGPargy · 25/09/2007 17:05

Silk - glad you're feeling calmer today (put those claws away now ). Blimey, sleeping from 11 til 6.30??? I can only DREAM of sleeping that long these days! In fact, ever since i became pg, i haven't slept through the entire night AT ALL! I remember those days........

RGPargy · 25/09/2007 17:08

Ooooh i was thinking of fish (well, a sausage actually) & chips too! Our chip shop is the BEST in town!!

KaylaBmummy · 25/09/2007 17:09

Hi All- Just catching up, posted on old thread first but then discovered the new one . So glad I did, I have been going mad trying to listen and find out who was with Ian Beale, so its Stephen hey, Did they show anything on MOnday of Ian or did i miss some of the episode All I saw was Jayne running around.

Big welcome and hello to all the new mums who have joined the thread.

Choudre - I am due on November 8th but not sure how to add it to the list and am from South Wales. I only mastered the smileys a few days ago, my brain is verrrry slow due to PG as you can see ha ha.

SGK - All the very best and you are on my mind. Cant wait to hear that you and LO are fine, again best wishes and big hugs .

Going to go now, will be back later tonight. I have been talked into going to the swimming baths, but due to bump swimsuit seems to be covering belly but not much boob trying to pull it up but enormous weggie appearing, OMG think ill make an excuse, just incase im harpooned . Speak later .
