Hi all

Just thought I would get this set up so that we had somewhere to go at the end. Will link to it in the old thread. Can’t believe we reached the limit so soon!!!

Hi @Flutterbunny welcome to the group.
Sorry you are feeling so anxious but it's completely understandable, even just being pregnant for the first time and having a big life change let alone all the worry and uncertainty this virus brings.
Is there anything in particular that's worrying you?

I can't say I suffer terribly from anxiety but I can be a big worrier some times. I find talking to my partner really helps and at the moment trying to not let all this virus business worry me too much. Looking at what women are having to go through at the moment with birthing alone etc is scary. I do wonder what kind of healthcare/support we will get when our babies are born but it is quite some time away and things are changing all the time so I'm just trying not to look at it and will cross the bridge when we get to it. This could all blow over in a couple of months.

I recently bought the positive birth company hypnobirth course (as anti-natal Hypnoyoga class has been cancelled) and I'm finding it so good and reassuring. It also has some nice relaxing tracks to listen to before you sleep. Have been out for long walks every day and doing a bit of yoga off YouTube.

@OBaby1 I was told I have an anterior placenta too. It sucks coz everyone else can already feel the baby move. I’m just going to wait until 24 Weeks when they advise us to contact midwife if we don’t feel any movement.
On a positive note the placenta should move up as belly grows so hopefully we should feel movement sooner than 24 weeks.

OBaby1 · 06/04/2020 18:48

@LoloFuentes ah that’s reassuring I just didn’t know when to expect it! Thank you I wasn’t told that but I’ll do the same.

Fig20 · 07/04/2020 14:51

Hope you’re all doing well ☺️
I had my 20 week scan today and baby looked healthy as far as they could tell. I found out we are having a boy 💙 My partner was not allowed in (we anticipated this so he has waited in the car) there was no prior warning just a note on the door. I took an envelope and they kindly wrote the gender and put it in the envelope so we could open it together. I was so nervous in the waiting room and it was very strange with all the ladies waiting alone but I had the loveliest sonographer who is due 10 days before me. She chatted to me throughout and made me feel so much better. 💕

Unlike last time, my hospital checked my blood pressure and urine as they’re anticipating a lot of upcoming midwife appointments will be over the phone. This is UHCW in case anyone else is there 💕

StephD2020 · 09/04/2020 09:24

Morning ladies hope everyone is well? How is everyone finding the lockdown? I've finally managed to sort out a gym set up at home so feeling motivated now and managed to get a work out in this morning before starting work which was definitely progress :)

Has anyone heard much from their midwife/clinic? I've not heard a peep. My 25 week appointment isn't until 28th April when I'll actually be 26+2 but I've been seeing that some appointments might be cancelled? Lots of movement from my little girl all day so I'm not worried and I'm feeling fine so don't want to waste my midwife's time when I'm sure they are all really up against it. X

MaisieMolly · 09/04/2020 11:37

Morning! I’ve managed to get a mini gym set up and home and I’m joining some prenatal Pilates classes from my gym on Zoom which has been good, also going out and about walking local streets after work to keep the fitness up. You don’t realise how much you just walk on a normal day, going to work, to the shops for lunch, even just walking around the office! I’m trying to replace that with 45 mins to an hour of walking each evening.

@StephD2020 I also haven’t heard from my midwife about my next appointment which is in a couple of weeks time. I’ll maybe phone them next week to check what’s happening. I was wondering if they’ll do the usual urine tests or maybe it’ll be cancelled or over the phone. I’m also feeling my baby girl move a lot too, it’s so much more reassuring than in the early days when you couldn’t feel anything isn’t it!?!

@Fig20 congrats on the scan! One of the few baby boys out of the ladies on this thread! 💙

StephD2020 · 09/04/2020 12:04

Oh @MaisieMolly I'm totally with you there on the steps thing! I easily do 10-15k steps a day with my commute and job (I lecture all day so don't sit down) and now lecturing from home online sat down is killing me! Having to really walk an epic distance of an evening just to get those steps in!

Has anyone thought about getting a belly band? I'm fine until about 4pm but when the stretching starts it's really getting uncomfortable to do a long walk/housework in the evenings.

The movements are definitely reassuring 🥰 and now, in the evenings when she's at her busiest I can start to see them too. Hubby was mesmerised last night watching her wriggle around! Was worried that I wouldn't see much for a while as I have DEFINITELY piled on some extra timber 😫 with all this home working time but it's really clear to see. Amazing. I've also been shining my phone light on my belly and it's like she is grabbing at it (apparently it's safe to do and is fun to watch!).

Yes @Fig20 you def seem to be in the minority blue camp on here - would love to know what the actual split is! X

Rachael321 · 09/04/2020 14:20

Afternoon all! Mind if I join? I'm 21 weeks today and due on 20/8/20!!

Sadandalone01 · 09/04/2020 18:13

Does anybody else feel baby move loads on some days then not so much on others??

Flutterbunny · 09/04/2020 19:41

Hi EL1984, thanks so much for your response. I've decided I'm going to try some Yoga and I've joined an online fitness app so I can make a start next week.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunny weather.

Welcome to the group @Rachael321! I'm due on the 21st August so we are not too far apart!

@Sadandalone01 - I definitely have days when I feel baby more than others. Usually if I am sat down alot I tend to feel it more than when I'm moving around.

StephD2020 · 09/04/2020 20:25

Hi @Rachael321! Exciting times ahead and welcome to the group! 😊

@Sadandalone01 yes I defo feel baby move more on some days than others. Main times for me are when I wake in the morning (I guess she's hungry?) and then when I'm sat down still in the evening after dinner. She definitely goes to sleep when I'm working out or going for a walk though as I never feel her move at all then! X

heroineinahalfshell · 10/04/2020 11:10

How are people handling maternity bra buying now that shops are closed? I got fitted at M&S at 12 weeks (38DD) but ready for a bigger bra now at 22. Just measured myself using Boob or Bust and came out as a 36GG! Blush Given bras of that size are pricey, I'm worried about spending a fortune online and it not fitting. Has anyone used BoB before? How have you found the fit?

EL1984 · 10/04/2020 11:31

GG! Didn't even know that was a size Shock
Is so tricky, I guess you can post them back if they don't fit. Perhaps get M&S online as the returns should be straight forward.
I bought 2 maternity bras (non underwire) from M&S at about 12 weeks and they are both quite stretchy, I've definitely grown but still fit comfortably.

I think the next lot I get I'll try and get feeding ones so I can use after the birth too, though I've heard boobs get massive when the milk comes in so might need a bigger size!?

StephD2020 · 10/04/2020 12:01

Wow @heroineinahalfshell mine have hardly grown at all! I thoroughly recommend H&M as they are cheap and they now have extended their returns to 100days which you can do at a Hermes drop off point. I think their maternity range is awesome and whilst they only go up to an E maybe give them a try and see if they fit as at least you can return with ease and they are super cheap! X

Flutterbunny · 10/04/2020 12:04

@heroineinahalfshell I had this exact dilemma myself a couple of weeks ago. I decided to get a nursing bra in size Medium -I was a 34D before pregnancy but boobs have got massive and havent been able to get sized either, and it fits perfectly and I've been practically living in it since. Not sure whether this is going to do my boobs any good as it isnt as supportive as an actual bra would be but I'm living for comfort these days!
I ordered from M&S and it came in a 2 pack of colours.
X

Rachael321 · 10/04/2020 17:17

I'm struggling for bras too! I've always been big on top at 38H before pregnancy, now Bras are digging in and so are the wires! It's been impossible to find something that would fit comfortably. Got a m&s order to send back, of the 8 I've ordered NONE fit. Cant get a normal bra never mind a nursing bra. Was in tears this morning trying them on, thanks to bloody hormones!!

heroineinahalfshell · 10/04/2020 18:20

@rachael321 I've also always been big on top, but my boobs have been growing like mad all pregnancy. I've not been able to deal with underwire since the beginning, so have lived in 2 M&S bralets in a size 20, which are comfy but starting to get a bit small. I think I'm going to try a Royce or Triumph bra from John Lewis - pricey but good reviews on support (which is the real issue with non-underwired when your boobs are so heavy!) @StephD2020 I appreciate the recommendation, but I can't imagine a fast fashion bra giving anywhere near enough support!

@heroineinahalfshell I've tried the bralets from m&s and they just dont feel supportive enough. Ok for bed I think but not day to day. Its driving me mad!

Fig20 · 11/04/2020 06:39

Thank you @MaisieMolly and @StephD2020 💙 blue definitely does seem to be the minority so far.

I couldn’t find any bras that fitted well in M&S. The size the bra fitting lady suggested seemed completely off and she kept bringing in designs my grandma would wear. I have been looking for weeks and still haven’t found anything (hard when looking online). My comfy bralet is just like a nipple cover now 😅 Anyone struggling clothes wise? I have only bought maternity jeans so far (at about 12 weeks as my others no longer fitted) but barely anything fits anymore. I’ve been living in stretchy pjs since being at home and it’s doing nothing for my self esteem 😄 I’m torn as it seems silly to buy clothes when you can’t go anywhere + I hate buying clothes online as it’s such a faff when they aren’t right.

StephD2020 · 11/04/2020 07:53

@fig20 I hear you on not wanting to spend money right now! I'm usually a 12-14 and I've got all of my maternity clothes from either H&M or New look. I basically ordered leggings and vest tops from NL with a couple of over shirts, 2 pairs of jeans from RI and then a few tops stretchy jersey long sleeve tops from H&M. 🤞🏻 it will see me through until summer where I can get some nice floaty dresses! Also H&M have a fab range of maternity gym leggings if you want something comfortable to work out in 😊👍🏻 x

Firstmummytobe · 11/04/2020 09:54

Hey ladies, thought I’d check in as I haven’t been on here in a while with everything that is going on.
Hope everybody’s scans etc have been going well😊
I’m 24+1 today so officially hit the 6 months mark yesterday and celebrated my birthday yesterday too so was exciting! Bit rubbish with the pandemic but hey ho!

Has anybody thought about which milk brand they are going to go for? I feel like this pregnancy is really flying and with all the shops being closed I’m worried that all this will last until I’m due and I’m really scared. They have a shelf life of 1 year so do I stock up now???

Also does anybody have any good recommendations on where to order a cot and changing unit from online?

Hope you are all well and keeping safe💖

StephD2020 · 11/04/2020 10:05

@Firstmummytobe how similar are we - my birthday was last Sunday and I turn 24 weeks tomorrow 😊

We've had our stuff delivered now - we ordered from the baby show from a company called Obaby and their stuff is beautiful. Plus they were so good, kept giving me calls to update me on the situation and then said they would rather deliver to me now in case the lockdown situation worsens which was great. They are still operating business as usual so I would recommend them for sure.

Also for what it's worth.... the baby show are doing an online show next weekend on 18th April. They've just sent me an email with a discount code on and all the big players will be retailing through them on that day. Their website is www.thebabyshow.co.uk so I would defo get signed up, especially if you have your eye on a particular item! We did the baby show in Feb and was brilliant so delighted to get to virtually do another one now! 🥰

Fig20 · 11/04/2020 10:17

@StephD2020 that’s a very good shout :) thank you! I can’t wait to go shopping properly and find some summer dresses!

How exciting @Firstmummytobe! 😊💕

I’m planning on breastfeeding so hoping everything goes to plan so that I won’t have to use formula. I was gonna buy some as back up but I know the first few weeks will be hard and that will be too much temptation! 😄 My friends have had to try a few as their babies are allergic to cows milk so it might be a bit trial and error (I might be completely wrong, I worryingly know nothing about babies!!).😊

With cots we are looking at getting a thing that attaches to the bed (I’m not sure if it’s called a co-sleeper?) and a wooden cot for the nursery. I can’t find a changing table I like anywhere but there are loads of cute set ups on Pinterest where people have just used a chest of drawers with a mat on 😊 will deffo check them out!
I’m 20+6, do you think it’s too early to start on the nursery?
We ordered our travel system this week as it is £100 off at the moment but it’s on back order so will take a while anyway. It’s being delivered to my parents house though.

Feelthefear01 · 11/04/2020 17:21

Has everyone's pregnancy gone smoothly or as anyone had ups and downs. The reason I ask is I have been told I have an eroded cervix so have bled on and off throughout the pregnancy. Should be used to it by now but still feel the dread in the pit of my stomach every time I see blood, especially when mixed with small amounts of mucus. My midwife said it's all fine when I speak to her over the phone, but sometimes I feel like every ones pregnancy is smooth and straightforward but mine.
