Hi all

Just thought I would get this set up so that we had somewhere to go at the end. Will link to it in the old thread. Can’t believe we reached the limit so soon!!!

Yup @MaisieMolly same for me over here! Today was the first time I've felt her kick higher up just under my ribs, normally it's around my belly button around either side so she's obviously maximising her freedom of movement while she still can! 🤣

PanicAtTheDiscLo · 01/05/2020 16:16

I’ve barely felt any movements and I’m six months today. I can’t wait to start feeling her though!
Is everyone starting to feel prepared

heroineinahalfshell · 01/05/2020 17:26

I need a bit of a handhold ladies. I've had a rough week - not pooped since Tuesday (tmi, sorry) and feeling really uncomfortable and unable to sleep so been generally run down and feeling unwell. Had my 25w midwife appt today (over the phone), so mentioned that and also mentioned that the baby's movements have been much quieter over the past 2 days, but I figured as I'm only 24w it wasn't something to worry about.

She gave me a proper telling off and said if baby usually moves at a certain time of day and doesn't, I need to ring triage right away. So I rang triage, and they told me there was no point coming in as they're not able to hook me up to a monitor as i'm under 26w so all they'll be able to do is check the heartbeat, so if I'm feeling any movements at all not to come in. So i've run up and down stairs, drank a coffee, eaten a big lunch - and there's been a bit of movement, but barely a flutter whereas before Thurs her movements were starting to feel a lot stronger.

I'm at triage now but they're full so I'm literally just sat in my car waiting for them to ring me when a bed is available. I feel like crap because I didn't ring yesterday, and now my anxiety is through the roof cos i feel like they don't want to see me. And also annoyed cos if my midwife appt today had been f2f she could have checked the heartbeat then and i wouldn't have spent the whole day worrying.

Sorry for the essay, just needed to get it out! Sad

Bert2020 · 01/05/2020 19:18

@heroineinahalfshell hope you are being seen now. Normally getting hooked up will send the baby doing all sorts of movements. I had anterior placenta with my first and didn’t feel her at all until week 26.

EL1984 · 01/05/2020 19:33

@heroineinahalfshell ooohh no sorry your having such a tough time :(

I hope you've now been seen and everything was ok. I'm nearly 27 weeks and often don't feel much, I've got an anterior placenta. I only feel the odd flutter when I'm lying in bed at night but certainly couldn't tell what's normal and what's not. So I don't think it's unreasonable that you didn't phone triage.

Fingers crossed you can poop soon too!!!

StephD2020 · 01/05/2020 19:35

Ah @heroineinahalfshell I am sure it is nothing to worry about but you have done EXACTLY the right thing by ringing and going in. A bit annoying that the midwife has said one thing and triage the other but ignore them all, the important thing is that you are getting checked. On the poop front I'm the same if it's any consolation, I've been having frozen berry smoothies with semi skimmed and protein powder and they've been working wonders! Keep us posted on how you get on, I can't imagine how stressful it must be but try not to worry. X

heroineinahalfshell · 01/05/2020 20:00

Thanks ladies. I waited 2 hrs as they forgot about me, but once I was in the midwife was lovely and she found the heartbeat right away which was a relief. I have a laxative prescription to pick up tomorrow, hopefully once I'm less bunged up we'll both be back to normal! A lesson in always standing your ground and getting checked!

StephD2020 · 02/05/2020 15:51

Brilliant news @heroineinahalfshell - glad it all got sorted. And you're absolutely right about standing your ground! My husband was also furious on your behalf about it all last night and he is SUPER reasonable at all times so you were defo in the right. Glad it all worked out in the end ☺️

heroineinahalfshell · 02/05/2020 16:41

Aw @StephD2020 that's very sweet of your DH! She's been much more active today so a big relief there. The community midwife who initially referred me to triage yesterday rang me up this morning as well to check in and make sure all was OK, which I really appreciated. Despite the mixed messages, I'm really pleased with the level of care I've been shown.

Charly82 · 02/05/2020 23:45

I'm having the complete opposite effect!! My baby is soooo hyper just like my teenage daughter!!!

Especially after a can of Coke, a hot curry and some chocolate.

At 25 weeks, she's in a routine already of waking up and going to sleep.

The annoying part is she's so actively kicking, I video recorded it yesterday and you can see the bumps going up and down in my belly.

From 10pm till 1am she goes ferral!!!!

StephD2020 · 03/05/2020 07:52

Ha @Charly82 I'm the same, I've defo got a feral one too 🤣 my husband was watching the kicks the other morning, couldn't believe his eyes! And yes, my little bean defo has her own pattern already, I've defo got an early riser like me, loves a little 5am start she does 😱😳🙈

LoloFuentes · 05/05/2020 19:26

I’m thinking of buying a Home Fetal Doppler as I also have an anterior placenta so sometimes I don’t feel the baby movements. Is there any brands anyone recommends or just get one from eBay? xx

StephD2020 · 06/05/2020 10:42

@LoloFuentes I had a look at them but all of the advice is to not get one as apparently it's quite a skill to hear the heart beat and can stress you out if you struggle to find it? But I'm sure there are some good quality ones on amazon if you are dead set on it x

LoloFuentes · 06/05/2020 11:51

@StephD2020 yes I spent whole of last night doing some research. Unfortunately you are right. They advise against them. Oh well. xx

Charly82 · 06/05/2020 13:43

I've got one, I literally use it once a week.

I followed some of the YouTube videos and instructions and I got there after a few attempts, so reassuring!!

StephD2020 · 06/05/2020 15:33

@LoloFuentes don't get me wrong though, if it brings you peace of mind then go for it. @Charly82 what one did you go for? I think it would cause me more stress than comfort which is why I decided against.

However, I got a home glucose testing kit, BP kit and the pee sticks they use in the antenatal clinics as I haven't seen a midwife since middle of Feb at my 16 week appt. defo providing me with reassurance that all is fine and dandy in there! X

annie1994 · 07/05/2020 16:33

Hello everyone, I’m a bit of an imposter really as my baby is due 1st September (by dates he would be 30th August). I’m just wondering if any of you are still taking your pregnancy multi vitamins? I know we’re meant to have Vitamin D still.

Also does anyone know if the glucose testing is still happening? I know because of coronavirus they’ve cancelled lots of stuff!!

StephD2020 · 07/05/2020 17:48

Hi @annie1994! I'm still taking my vitamins and haven't stopped - I went on to pregnacare multi vitamin when I found out I was pregnant and have just stuck with them for ease.

Re the glucose tests, my midwife said that rather than the usual 2 hour test that you have they have now replaced this with just 2 done on a fasting basis so you don't have to wait around in hospital. That said, I'm in North London and I know some smaller trusts are doing slightly different things so best to contact your midwife if you are worried. I think the tests are meant to be done between weeks 24-28.

Hope that helps! Xx

annie1994 · 07/05/2020 18:15

@StephD2020 thank you very much 😌 So is it 2 fasting blood tests? Is yours at the hospital or GP surgery now? Tbh I’d prefer that as hanging around the hospital for 2 hours wasn’t very appealing 😂 x

LoloFuentes · 07/05/2020 19:27

I’m on the pregnacare ones with omega 3. Only because my eating has been dodgy I thought I’d take them hoping they would cover as much vitamins I needed. My glucose appointment was cancelled. Not sure whether they are important or not. xx

StephD2020 · 07/05/2020 21:14

@annie1994 I'm not sure if they are both fasting blood tests but I basically am due in to have my 28 week bloods and the 2 extra tests all in one go when I go in next. My bloods are all done at the hospital and my antenatal appt is booked for 30 mins later in the same hospital so basically merging 3 appts into one visit! Hope that makes sense?

heroineinahalfshell · 08/05/2020 08:45

I have my glucose test booked on Monday and haven't been told of any changes to it yet.

I'm still taking my pregnacare multi vitamin with omega 3 as well - figured it couldn't hurt! Anyone else been randomly prescribed calcium & vit D by their GP? I went to pick up a repeat prescription (unrelated to pregnancy) and they'd added it to my prescriptions, but I've not spoken to my GP in months so i've no idea why!

Charly82 · 11/05/2020 17:10

Just had a thought, I know some of us have got to know each other in our "Due in August thread" but just wanted to know whether you may be interested in having a relaxing pamper "zoom" meet with me.
I'm a temple spa lifestyle consultant so with all the lockdown happening, I've been doing all my classes online with everyone from their sofas literally in their dressing gowns!!
If anyone is interested, I'm happy to post out some temple spa skincare samples, chocolates and our latest brochure to everyone. It's only about 40 minutes long.
I thought it would be a nice idea also to get to know each other more and just generally have a chat whilst me teaching you some facial techniques.

If anyone is interested we can get a date/time in the diary and I'll sort out some packs to be sent out. Just let me know xx

Realladymarmalade · 20/05/2020 22:21

Hi all.
Due dc3 august 29th..a baby boy and my second boy

I've been very wobbly in mood and in denial to be honest. This denial has led me to being very underprepared , and I've not been active on these forums. Its occurred to me that it's a recipe for PND to have no soon to be mum supports even if online (well isn't everything now!) . I've had bad PND before so I can't go there again. I've also been busy homeschooling and wfh mind you.

Today's angst is that I don't have a pram yet and suddenly panicking about this. I'd bake any recommendations!

Yours ,
Mum in denial , pandemically anxious !

Realladymarmalade · 20/05/2020 22:22

??? Bake ???

I mean appreciate ! HmmGrin
