A shiny new thread for our May mum's.

A big thank you to @Shak19 for setting up the original thread, you started this group and we are all so grateful for that.

@Moussemum I only received mine yesterday and I’m 11 weeks today but I did phone up last week and they had actually booked it already so might be worth a phone call? X

Sorry if this is TMI but I have had terrible d&v through the night, mainly the D part, I know I can't take anything and need to keep my fluids up but should I contact the midwife ? Sorry if I sound dramatic but I don't know if the baby is at risk and I'm so close to the 12 week mark finish line I don't want to risk anything - any advice would be appreciated

Sunshine8888 · 18/10/2019 08:40

@facevalue that’s great you’ve had a chat and he wants to try and improve things ☺️

I’ve woken up with heartburn for the first time and an upset stomach. Work will be fun today 🤢

Sunshine8888 · 18/10/2019 08:41

@facevalue I don’t colour my hair but I had it cut this week and getting my nails done today - nice to treat yourself! I’m seeing my best friends this weekend so excited to share my news with them. Not so excited about the 4 hours of travelling with bus replacements for some of it 🤢🙈

Moonstone12 · 18/10/2019 08:42

@jeffsar4 I too am 38! Think that makes us start with a 1/150 chance before the tests. I'm waiting on mine to see what to do next. Our nhs trust offers harmony for free for high risk which is why I'm holding out lol xx

facevalue · 18/10/2019 08:56

@jeffsar4 @Moonstone12 i'm 40! i know when i had the test with my first i was 38 and the risk was on the 150 cut off and i freaked out so paid for the extra private test which was normal and my DD is healthy/ normal. So i know where you are coming from but i was under the impression it isn't an age thing otherwise why would they ever waste the time to do this test- i will obviously ask! no point in wasting time to have a definite high risk result - i am tempted to wait and see obviously if high risk again i will pay but seems like an unfair waste of money and should be funded by the NHS!

@sunshine8888 hi lovely. Thanks for the positive reassuring words- it means a lot. i'm sat in a french cafe about to eat a big fat breakfast 😍 before i head across to the hairdressers and now u mention it i might get my nails done too! i've felt so unsexy witheverything that has gone on and all my burping and farting 😂😂😂 i cant blame hubby if not keen to come near me lol about the heartburn i swear by plain full fat greek yogurt it cures mine immediately please try x

facevalue · 18/10/2019 08:57

my big fat breako

kstann · 18/10/2019 09:07

@facevalue that breakie looks so good! And I say enjoy your hair. I put my colour off last time until 12 weeks, but I'll be booking mine in for the next few weeks!

I feel exactly the same, looked in the mirror and felt gross! We are off out to a fancy restaurant for lunch and i can't wait to get dressed up!!!

@Sunshine8888 sorry you're feeling poorly 🤒
If you can't keep any fluids down, then most definitely call them. They may want to check your urine to be on the safe side xxx

Sunshine8888 · 18/10/2019 09:56

@kstann I think you meant this for @Shelbustotherescue? Thankfully I’m not too bad with the sickness!

@facevalue that looks amazing and much better than the banana and plum I had!

sao81 · 18/10/2019 09:56

@jeffsar4 oooh Im sure my hospital is offering this for certain women I just assumed everywhere was the same, good luck with yours im sure the results will be just fine x

fluffyunicorns86 · 18/10/2019 10:09

Hello everyone. I am currently 11 weeks 3 days so due around 5th may. This will be my 4th child. Under consultant care due to previous history. I had consultant on wednesday got a quick glimpse of baby and heard heartbeat was amazing. Got my scan on monday at 11+6 nervous but so excited to see baby. I am also having a cervical stitch this time round to be in the safe side as well as alot of extra support in this pregnancy. Hope everyone is doing well. My symptoms have faded slightly and I only have sensitive nipples now and feel I am starting to show already. Am I the only one thinking this. With my history i trying to keep it from people till i reach a certain point or at least until i have had the stitch put in.

kstann · 18/10/2019 10:14

@Sunshine8888 you're right, silly me. This thread moves so fast. Lol.
It's silly you can't reply direct to each post x

kstann · 18/10/2019 10:15

@Moonstone12 you're not Midlands based are you? As I know they do it on NHS Too x

kstann · 18/10/2019 10:18

@fluffyunicorns86 your due date is the same as mine and I too have my 12 week scan Monday 🥰 intrigued to see if the due date changes! My symptoms have pretty much subsided in the past 4 days. Hoping it's just because we are heading into the end of the first trimester.
Sounds like you've had a bit of a time of it in previous pregnancies. Hopefully this one is as smooth as can be for you xx

Moonstone12 · 18/10/2019 10:18

@kstann no I'm Surrey. Had a chat with my midwife about it on Monday and she said they do it for those with a high risk. No idea what they class as high risk though lol

fluffyunicorns86 · 18/10/2019 10:25

@kstann due date buddy :) yeah i am intrigued to see if it does and how far by also. yeah spoke to midwife on wednesday who did blodd pressure before consultant and she said because i am nearly 12 weeks that be why it is calming down. plays havoc with my depression. i have and hoping the care and support this time will help me get to have my rainbow baby. thank you hun me too xx

Sunshine8888 · 18/10/2019 10:29

My symptoms have been worse in weeks 11-12-13 than any previously. The baby did seem to be growing quickly though from scan on weds so maybe that’s why?! Last week of the first trimester. Roll on 13 weeks and a new chapter (hopefully)

kstann · 18/10/2019 10:35

@Moonstone12 I think that's if, after the Nuchal screening it comes back as High risk.
I'm a bit anxious for my 12 wk and wish I had just opted for private screening from 10 wks, albeit at £450😬
It happend to my sister, my little nephew had a really high Nuchal fold, over 8. That with the bloods said a really high chance of downs. She had an amnio then it came back fine. He's now one and the happiest boy ever! 😊

kstann · 18/10/2019 10:37

@fluffyunicorns86 what times your scan! Mines 9am xx

fluffyunicorns86 · 18/10/2019 10:38

@Sunshine8888 hope things settle down for you. cant wait for 2nd trimester. I found out i am slightly anemic so i am now on folic acid, iron tablets and also aspirin. hoping these iron tablets kick in soon am starting to feel bit better but not 100%

fluffyunicorns86 · 18/10/2019 10:39

@kstann mine is at 2:20pm ao gonna be a long wait for me xx

Sunshine8888 · 18/10/2019 10:56

@kstann, I think there is a higher chance of getting a false positive result with the nhs tests which can lead to ladies having the extra tests that have mc risks when they possibly don’t need to. This is why I’ve opted for the private one as well. I should get those results next week, probably before the nhs ones and have been told if the private results are low risk then I can disregard the nhs results

Clairesoph · 18/10/2019 12:25

Finally had a booking appt, dated at about 10 weeks. Scan came through a day later for the 6th of November- feels like AGES to wait but there we are!
