Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DaisysGotABigBump · 16/05/2007 14:06

Hi Twiga....obviously everyone is different, but because I managed to dilate myself last time without any drip and my waters went without having to be ruptured, the chances are I would have a normal delivery this time.....I've opted for the elective solely on the chance that I could labour for hours again and still end up in surgery. The consultant said that if I went over my dates and needed to be induced it would be 80% likely I would need another c-section anyway, but that if I go into spontaneous labour the chances of needing a section drop to 20%. So, I'm booking the elective to ensure I don't need to be induced, but hoping I'll go by myself before then...if that makes any sense at all. She also said that in the five years she's been practising (why do they call it that, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence...I don't want someone who's been practising....I want someone who knows what they're doing FGS!!!!)
she's only ever seen two ruptures of previous scars during VBAC, so that's confidence boosting too.

Seansfatlass · 16/05/2007 14:13

Its all been happening hasn't it? Blimey! Lots of love and luck Lilkel!!!

hollyandalice · 16/05/2007 14:14

Hope you manage to get the labour you want twiga, the last one sounds horrible you poor thing.

I've fucked up already and missed derlor off the text buddy list! Grrr....best sort it out! I'm a knob!

Seansfatlass · 16/05/2007 14:14

Daisy! OMG! Thats so sooooooooonnnn!!!

Twiga · 16/05/2007 14:15

See that's the difficulty, no one can really tell me why things didn't progress last time - back to back certainly didn't help and also have bicornate unterus, so poss that added to the prob too. Contractions even on the drip were never co-ordinated. Dd arrived at exactly 14 days over, I wandered a lot if I'm maybe one of those people who tend to have longer pg's as quite a lot of the babies in our famly have been overdue but obviously coz was induced no way of telling that either, although not sure I would have risked going over more than the 14 days anyway. I just don't want to feel so intruded upon and sore this time round - didn't help that labour ward was very busy so didn't get moved up there as quickly as could have been and possibly saved a good few hours before they intervened with the section.

Mw's in dumfries before me moved seemed to think there was no reason for me not to try and why I wouldn't labour naturally this time. Don't seem quite so optimistic up here but is a bigger busier hospital so who knows how much that influences things. Sorry for the rambling - useful to get my thoughts down. Might go and have a wee nap while dd is still asleep.

hollyandalice · 16/05/2007 14:16

Foxy I'll pair you up with derlor as well as doggus as doggus might not be able to get on here much. Is that ok?

Seansfatlass · 16/05/2007 14:19

Have got one major job crossed off my list - had my hair coloured and no more vile dark roots! back later as DD has swimming lesson soon

Seansfatlass · 16/05/2007 14:25

Twiga, poor you, that sounds like you had a terrible time. I was induced by pessary last time - no joy - so had drip and had no problems. Would they put you on a drip? Sorry if I have missed an important part Twiga , i have only gone back your last two posts, so sorry if you have said.

No worries Holly. Although I'm rather hoping to set up my webcam in time and have a live link.

DaisysGotABigBump · 16/05/2007 14:30

SFL....not soon enough the way I've been feeling!!

I'm off to the post office shortly....D'you want me to send them registered or just plain old first class. Everything I've sent first class recently has arrived next day?

DaisysGotABigBump · 16/05/2007 14:31

PMSL Foxy at the live link

hollyandalice · 16/05/2007 14:32

Right, everyone has been emailed with their buddy's numbers! If I've made any mistakes let me know!!

foxybrown · 16/05/2007 14:32

I know! I'm so technically inept she'll probably be at school by the time its working

hollyandalice · 16/05/2007 14:34

Daisy and Bumper you already have each other's numbers, so I've not emailed you.

hollyandalice · 16/05/2007 14:34

Lol at the webcam!! Imagine Maybe you could put the vid on youtube!

DaisysGotABigBump · 16/05/2007 14:37

With a funky soundtrack to cover up the mooing and screaming

foxybrown · 16/05/2007 14:38

Eurgh! Couldn't think of anything worse - except widescreen fanjo! Enough, its too gross.

And I'm missing the Wiggles.

OK, can I ask a few questions please?

Do we text anytime day or night?
do we start a new thread?
Do we log on and post anytime day or night, or is it acceptable to post first thing in the morning?
If we can post ourselves when we start, should we?

DaisysGotABigBump · 16/05/2007 14:43

We want as many live birth threads as possible......posted under childbirth so all those lovely doulas etc out there can give us advice!!

hollyandalice · 16/05/2007 14:45

I think that any birthy type posts should go on the regular thread, then birth announcements go on the new stats thread (and obv on the birth announcements board). I suppose if you are having a home birth you could start one of those exciting "is this it?" live birth threads on the pregnancy board!!

I have no prob with being woken at stupid o'clock in the morning if there is an impending birth! I spose that's something you have to ask your text buddy!

Yes, if you can post when you start then do it! I don't think I'll be able to. Birth pools and laptops don't go too well together!

foxybrown · 16/05/2007 14:46

Someone's just drawn my attention to this shopping website. I particularly like the nappy covers! oddshop

foxybrown · 16/05/2007 14:48

I'm fully expecting to provide you with a running commentary.

Actually, because I'm one of the last and its going to happen in the middle of the night, you'll all going to be up and logged on feeding your new arrivals!

hollyandalice · 16/05/2007 14:48

Wow, that website is crazy!! I love the equal opportunity baby grows! PMSL!!
