yeah tape measure.. and she felt it and worked it out using fingers... she was a head consultant as we threw a paddy and demanded to see her last week over stupid woman giving us conlicting advice 2 weeks ago.

NattyThomasandEllen · 16/05/2007 16:16

no ive gone from exactly right to suddenly 6 weeks smaller..

NattyThomasandEllen · 16/05/2007 16:17

does that mean im losing fluid maybe? the baby cant have shrunk right?

DaisysGotABigBump · 16/05/2007 16:18

If baby has engaged then the height of your bump gets smaller....i think....

....just had a look in my notes and there is a wee chart showing the fundal height at 38 weeks to be anything between 33 and 38 cm as normal, so its maybe not as bad as it seems?...

fannyannie · 16/05/2007 16:18

perhaps baby has moved position - or dropped further down so isn't measuring so big - I (personally - but I'm no expert) can't see how you could effectively 'shrink'.

And if it's any consolation - I had a friend a few years back who was sent for a scan at almost the same dates as you are now because of worries about the babies size.......scan showed a small baby (around the 6lb marker) and she delivered 1 1/2 weeks later............a whopping 10lb 11oz'er!!!!

foxybrown · 16/05/2007 16:20

What were they saying last time? Could that measurement have been inaccurate?

If there was a serious problem they'd be scanning you now. (I'd like to think). You're at Kings, aren't you?

Good for you for making a fuss last time. I'd get back on the phone and tell them you are in bits and need to be scanned asap. Call your GP, ask if s/he can refer you immediately.

Was similarly worried at about 27 weeks, but caught up. Baby might have a growth spurt now, or you might have a little baby. Are you or DP small?

NattyThomasandEllen · 16/05/2007 16:20

baby is head down but not engaged full same as 2 weeks ago, she did and internal to make sure it wasnt just that she had engaged fully. its the fact i measured 36 2 weeks ago and 32 today thats concerneing them.

trace2 · 16/05/2007 16:21

hi all natty, did she say the way baby was layed?? that and bing engaged can make the diffrence! also if you was losing fluid they would swob you,

delor so sorry about spd i to have it really bad been house bound now for months, i have cruchers in house and a wheel chair if i go out, also take codinde, didnt want to but had no choice .

foxybrown · 16/05/2007 16:22

To me, that suggests they cocked it up last time.

foxybrown · 16/05/2007 16:23

Poor you Trace How are you coping?

DaisysGotABigBump · 16/05/2007 16:23

It would make sense that if the baby has fully engaged then the fundal height would be smaller at this stage. Given that you are now considered "full-term" is she just worrying you unneccesarily?

Was Thomas small for dates, or a small baby? (some people naturally have smaller babies than others, especially if they are small built themselves)

Try not to worry, and maybe call your MW to discuss?

trace2 · 16/05/2007 16:24

hi foxy i think am coping ok, just so fed up with pain am so hopping next week they give me a date and hopping its at 37 week

NattyThomasandEllen · 16/05/2007 16:24

baby is head down facing back, (so her back is @ front) she said the baby itself feels small, so thinks it might just be a small baby.
DH and me arnt tallest people, but thomas was born 8lb, and like i said the other day i feel so much smaller this time i can still get normal jeans on. feeling very worried now

foxybrown · 16/05/2007 16:26

Try not to worry. If they were worried you'd have had a scan straight away.

Why don't you call them and tell them you are scared, see what they can do for you? That is what I would do. They either need to put your mind at rest or get you back in.

NattyThomasandEllen · 16/05/2007 16:27

def right measurement last time, because i didnt think she had done it right last time so i measured myself AND got DH to measure when we got home, and was measuring a def 36.. just checked myself now and it is def measuring 32.. seems odd to have shrunk. can i have lost fluid in the night and not know?

trace2 · 16/05/2007 16:27

natty phone mw tell her how worried you are, the stress can efect your baby, we have a ward where we can phone if worried and ive found then great and they can get you to see a doc for scan. have you any thing like this?

DaisysGotABigBump · 16/05/2007 16:28

Hi Trace...are they going to induce you or do a c-section?

If there's anything you need I'm not that far from you (I don't think, anyway) and you have my e-mail.....give me a yell!

try not to worry, y'all.

that everyone is falling apart and wish there was something I could do.

trace2 · 16/05/2007 16:28

no even fluid loss would not make diffrence as they feel for baby is phone now to stop you worring

hollyandalice · 16/05/2007 16:29

How shit derlor! Hope your baby pops soon, then you will be spd free, you poor thing (((hugs)))!!

I'm sure everything is fine natty, you can measure bigger and smaller depending on how your baby is lying, but for you not getting a sooner scan. Phone up and do some more shouting, explain how stressed you are and do some crying, I'm sure they'll fit you in.

Hope you are well trace (apart from the hideous spd)!

No news from lilkel yet. I'll let you guys know as soon as I hear anything.

trace2 · 16/05/2007 16:30

hi daisy i asked for normal, but am now chaging my mind, i had c s with jack cos of spd, but it killed me not driving after , lol

NattyThomasandEllen · 16/05/2007 16:30

no i dont think there is anyone to ring. i dont have a midwife to ring, all i can do is ring hospital

foxybrown · 16/05/2007 16:30

We know you will Holly.

Can you imagine how much trouble you'd be in if you didn't?

I know where you live remember [sinister smiley]

Are you on that phone Natty?

trace2 · 16/05/2007 16:32

hi holly , as delor gone in then? my friend gonr in to labour today soooo[envious]

NattyThomasandEllen · 16/05/2007 16:32

do you think if i went into the day clinc tomorrow and said baby hasnt moved enough they might push for scan?

foxybrown · 16/05/2007 16:32

Then ring them!

If it were me I would ask to speak to the person you saw today.

I would tell them I am frightened and worried and simply cannot cope with the worry. It cannot be good for the baby surely.

Given all the bad press of late, they really don't want anything to go wrong do they?
