Hi everyone, had my booking in appointment yesterday and an appointment with a new consultant too. All went well, feeling very well looked after. I've got another reassurance scan booked for two weeks time, my nuchal scan booked for two weeks later, then a scan at 16 weeks and 20 weeks! I've been put on 150mg aspirin a day to help with the placenta blood flow (because I'm old and had previous miscarriages). Also been told that as I'll be almost 40 by the time I give birth they'll be looking to induce me at 38 weeks. Not sure how I feel about that. Last time I was very resistant to being induced which I think stressed me out so I'll be a lot more willing to go with the flow this time, but also don't want to be induced if not necessary. Anyway it's a long way off, so not thinking about the birth yet. My birth experience was a mix of good and bad last time. I'm giving birth at a different hospital this time, which is partly due to my experience last time, but mostly because I'm classed as high risk this time.

@whyhastherumgone and @scoobygang - I really really miss coffee, especially with this exhaustion, but staying clear because I can't control my portion intake. What's weird is that I don't like craft beer any more; I thought I could take a sip of my partner's to see the flavours, but now they all taste sour and awful. I also no longer like sour cream, french onion soup, and a pile of other stuff I can't think of any more.

hometownunicorn · 04/08/2017 10:30

Hey everyone, I had a massive freakout last night and this morning because I didn't feel so nauseous yesterday and booked a reassurance scan for tomorrow. Hoping we see a heartbeat and I can calm down for a day or so at least!

@Excited1203 beer tastes weird to me too. I've tried a sip of my partner's when he's had a drink and it just doesn't taste right. At least it's easy not to drink I guess.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok today

Excited1203 · 04/08/2017 10:42

@hometownunicorn - if you check back, I was in that state last Sunday and Monday. Turns out my local private scanner was broken and one not too far was booked. My partner kept pointing out my sore boobs, have you tested yours for reassurance pain? Since Tuesday afternoon though I've been more nauseous than ever before, with loads of back of the throat little sicks (sorry, TMI). I'd love to see the little one on a scan, but we're waiting now. Try to enjoy not feeling sick while it lasts.

hometownunicorn · 04/08/2017 10:50

@Excited1203 thanks, that's really helpful. I know you're right really. I should appreciate not feeling sick. My nippples do hurt (must stop prodding them! At least I'm in the office on my own today). I hope you feel a bit less sick soon

Elbi · 04/08/2017 10:53

So tea makes me sick now. Absolutely gutted. I love tea!! And worse, I still really crave it. Would be easier if I'd gone off it I think. Hope others are feeling better.

Onceuponamama · 04/08/2017 11:02

elbi yes a Jacobs cracker emoji is very much needed!

hometownunicorn I've never really had the tender breasts symptom this pregnancy, just sore nipples!

Water and sparkling water is all i seem to drink now. Coffee smells awful for me but the smell of Malibu rum is wonderful (not tempted to drink any but I the fresh (coconut? )scent helped with the nausea when I caught a whiff from my mum's drink last weekend).

MrsW0812 · 04/08/2017 11:05

Hi all - I'm sat at work feeling absolutely awful.

Feeling exhausted and so nauseas nothing helping. Also got trapped wind that leaks out every now and again ☹️

Sorry for moan - I just feel like crying xx

Excited1203 · 04/08/2017 11:10

Oh and yes, Jacobs cream cracker emoji is a stroke of genius.

@onceuponamama - have you tried having any creamed coconut, maybe a ceylon curry. Or eat bounty bars.

Onceuponamama · 04/08/2017 11:11

I'm a first timer and labour feels like a distant future inevitable nightmare for me but i don't mind people venting their labour experiences either. But I am currently one of those women who is naively expecting to have a pleasant water birth with absolutely nothing going wrong at all ok. (A girl can dream right?)

Ive also discovered the term 'episiotomy' and really wished I hadn't now!

Excited1203 · 04/08/2017 11:11

Poor @MrsW. You've nearly made it to lunchtime. Is there any way you can go home sick for the afternoon, or go to work from home (after a little nap)?

Onceuponamama · 04/08/2017 11:18

excited thats a good idea! I was wondering about bounty bars for when I'm not so nauseous. (I really wish I could go back in time now and retrieve all the bounty chocolates nobody ever seems to eat in the Christmas celebrations boxes)... I might get a coconut shampoo for the first trimester though!

Anyone else suddenly started to crave a certain scent?

Onceuponamama · 04/08/2017 11:21

Trapped wind is awful Mrs w! The only thing that helped me a few nights ago was to gently massage my tummy until your able to pass it.

MrsW0812 · 04/08/2017 11:30

Thanks lovelies - I'm considering going home after lunch however I'm the only one in my team in the office - it's a bugger when no one knows at work isn't it?

I'm not craving certain scents but have definitely noticed I have a stronger sense of smell now.

Scoobygang7 · 04/08/2017 11:33

Not craving certain scents however I was really craving a cheese, lettuce, and salad cream sandwich on white and a mug of tomato soup to dip in the other night. I had it for tea it was the best thing ever.

I am happy to share my birth of my little boy if people want to hear it.

BlueeSpottyTiger · 04/08/2017 11:38

Hey ladies! I'm having mild cramping and abit of brown spotting.. it's stressing me out! I'm 8w today and i only saw the hb 1.5w ago when i was 6+5
Is brown worrying or not? I know it means old blood and not fresh.
Has anyone else had any brown spotting?
I don't know wether i should tell my Dr or just see what happens!?

SunyBay · 04/08/2017 11:41

Hi everyone!

I'm 7 weeks today, so due in the third week of March (by my calculations - I've got my booking appointment next Tuesday, so I guess the midwife might disagree with me).

This is my first, so it's all new to me.

Right now, I'm blessed with not many symptoms. Lightheadness, which is a pain (I'm off work with it at the moment, since my work involves walking around and putting things on shelves, not just sitting down - I work in a library). I'm hoping that the midwife can reassure me what's causing it and I can go back to work, because sitting around doing nothing is frustrating (and I appreciate that I'll want to do that later on!). I'm also tired all the time! And get that bloated feeling that you get before you start your period. Which makes sense, I suppose, when you think what's going on down there! :)

No cravings as yet, either. Occasionally tender breasts, but nothing too terrible ... yet!

Flatwhite31 · 04/08/2017 11:44

Hi everyone! Just catching up on messages. I'm currently with my family, so haven't had as much time to post. I told my parents on Wednesday, and they are really pleased!

I've been feeling a lot better the past couple of days. Of course that also worries me. Never happy! I'm now 9+3. Currently sat at soft play watching my 3 year old nephew having a great time. Smile

Jacqueje · 04/08/2017 11:58

bluee I would probably contact your doctor or MW and ask their advice, if for no other reason than to reassure yourself.

Excited1203 · 04/08/2017 12:30

@Scooby and others, if you want to post your birth stories that'd be useful thanks. Based on every other woman in my family, I'm expecting scissors anyway and a reasonably long labour.

@BlueeSpottyTiger - it's probably fine but better to call the midwife or GP and ask.

Welcome @SunyBay.

I'm feeling very lucky that I have a day off today. I've been feeling so tired and sick, plus I was up a few hours in the night. It's lovely to still lurk in bed. My partner is here so he brought me breakfast in bed of olive toast bruschetta (loads of tomatoes, balsamic, butter, no garlic) and buttery olive toast with marmite, plus a fresh smoothie (strawberry, blackberry, apple and orange). It made me so happy I can't describe.

mrskitty15 · 04/08/2017 13:03

Hello ladies,

Just checking in, hope everyone is doing ok today!

I had my booking in appointment yesterday. I expected to have my urine tested like last time which they didn't do. Anyway, I ended up with stinging and frequent urinating this morning when I woke up. Went back to the GP this morning and am now on antibiotics :( Feeling a bit tired and uncomfortable and can't wait until my toddler has her nap shortly so I can nap too.

Today is the first day I have had a genuine panic about coping with two DC. Does anybody else feel like this?

whyhastherumgone · 04/08/2017 13:14

Afternoon all - @blueespottytiger I too would call GP/midwife/EPU just to put your mind at rest if anything. Hope everything is okay.

After a really rotten couple of days, I'm feeling a little better today. I think this is because instead of having to get up early despite having been up all night, I was able to take myself back to bed for a few hours and actually sleep, then had some melon as soon as I woke up....which seemed to keep the queasiness at bay. I'm still tired and feel a little bit off but nowhere near as bad as the last few days, I was so bloated and uncomfortable last night that I felt like crying!

Welcome @SunyBay

Hope everyone is feeling a bit better today. We definitely need a cream cracker emoji!

Scoobygang7 · 04/08/2017 13:16

@mrskitty15 honestly I do all the time. I think mine at the moment is I have no energy and I constantly feel sick. He's seemingly going through a rebellious stage so that's not helping. We will manage I am sure, but I do have wobbles over how good of a parent I am now and why am I adding another.

mrskitty15 · 04/08/2017 13:32

@scoobygang7 Thank you, I am glad it is not just me that feels like that.

Now my little one has gone to sleep I can try and sleep, obviously the children next door have now decided that it is the perfect time to bounce around on their trampoline and make loads of noise. Aargh Angry

ZylaB · 04/08/2017 14:18

DD has an ear infection and hasn't been sleeping well and has been in with me the last two nights. So I've hardly slept. I'm wiped out and have Just thrown up really hard and then nearly fallen over. DH has sent me to bed! I'm lucky he was working from home this afternoon so he can look after DD!
