flumppootle · 21/03/2007 12:18

That's more than 1 per day when we all do start popping

(Can you tell I'm avoiding the ironing???????)

Mavornia · 21/03/2007 12:21

Hello!

I've been visiting Mumsnet for a while but have just discovered the ante-natal clubs section - so cross as I'm due on 20 April and it would have been so nice to have "met" you all ages ago!

This is my first baby (a little boy). I go from dying to meet him to feeling absolutely shocked that I'm pregnant - normally when I breeze past a mirror and catch sight of myself looking like a galleon ship and wonder "how did that happen?!"

I have type 1 diabetes so I might have to have a c-sec in 2 weeks at 38 weeks. I would love a natural birth but I was told yesterday that the baby is already 8lb 6 so it might not be possible.

Sorry for waffling a bit - just wanted to say hello and introduce myself and wish all you other April mums well.

hotlipsmummy · 21/03/2007 12:23

Hello ladies. Apologies for the radio silence recently, life has been getting in the way a little and the pc had a wobbly and stopped working for a while. Seems to have gotten over itself though, god knows what was wrong!! Anyway no chance of catching up on what I missed but seems no babies yet

No babies here - and no builders either!! Soooo cross at the bad manners of just not turning up and not returning phone calls etc etc. Everyone says that's just what builders are like but its the discourtesy that drives me mad, manners cost nothing!! So still no new room for DS and therefore no nursery for LO. And all the baby stuff in bags in our bedroom and piled up in the moses basket... grrrr Want to nest and can't!

Right rant over, sorry ladies, just had to vent for a moment...

Sorry to hear of those struggling with the latter stages and thoughts are especially with 1B3 and Ooogs, how you are still going is beyond me, mucho respecta!

Welcome to phdlife and nellyhel.

right need to get sorted out with some washing and then its off to the dentist for me - have been having AWFUL toothache over the weekend and managed to persuade the dentist to do some treatment (no xrays obviously but he's not keen to do anything!) as the thought of toothache for another month of pregnancy was unbearable - do you think that would be grounds for a c-section . Am not looking forward to 45mins in "The Chair" on my back but at least it sort the pain out... fingers crossed...

Thoughts are with you all and hoping sone babies start popping out soon before we all go mad!

phdlife · 21/03/2007 12:25

Well I blubbed all over DH last night after.... traumatic visit to M&S. What happened there you ask? NOT A BLOODY THING! Just couldn't bear the place, especially not poxing nighties (what I had gone to buy). So glad it is not just me!

Eca the phd is done and dusted (amen) but it took 7 agonizing years - and me with no dc's! So pat yourself on the back if you do anything better than that! What area?

claricebean · 21/03/2007 12:25

Wow, it's a day for newbies today. Welcome Mavornia. And we thought the next new people would be the babies!!

hotlipsmummy · 21/03/2007 12:25

and welcome to mavornia, x-posted with you!

eca · 21/03/2007 12:27

hello Mavornia!

gosh it's the day of newbies today!! Welcome to the thread. Looking forward to getting to know you! Hope that you don't have to have the c-section!
xx

flumppootle · 21/03/2007 12:27

Welcome Malvornia ! Congratulations on expecting your little boy

Make that at least 43 babies

phdlife · 21/03/2007 12:27

flumpootle you better stop counting there've been 3 new additions to list since I started paying attention this morning! we're coming out of the woodwork...

Mavornia - lol at "looking like a galleon ship" - me too, and since I never see myself I keep wondering why ppl in the street are staring!

flumppootle · 21/03/2007 12:30

phdlife, am hoping that if I keep counting then we can start counting the babies born , wishing thinking eh?

flumppootle · 21/03/2007 12:31

Wishful thinking I meant

eca · 21/03/2007 12:34

hi hotlips! Was beginning to think you might have gone off and had a sneaky bambino! Hope the dentists isn't too bad! And grrr at the builders!!! Unleash the pregnancy hormones on them!

at you phdlife!!!!!!! I'm 3 & 1/2 years in p/t and Nowhere near the light at the end of the tunnel! And about to have a baby! (am I mad!!??) Area is feminist & literary theory. What about you? And I'm self funded.... >>

Mavornia · 21/03/2007 12:39

Thanks for warm welcome everyone!

Very impressed that any of you can cope with anything remotely high-brow! I fear my brain has been dissolved, absorbed through the placenta and eaten by the baby.

I'm off to rummage through the kitchen for a pre-lunch snack and then a flick through daytime tv - all I feel up to today!

phdlife · 21/03/2007 12:50

PMSL, eca! But in a sympathetic way, honest I was self-funded too - one reason it took so damn long was having to work throughout! Don't be , me and DH paid for that qualification in blood, believe me!

Have a girlfriend at home who was in similar area to you (I'm a cultural studies head) and had DS in the middle. She coped... so will you! You know what they say about that which does not kill us: it makes us stranger!

Okay have to go eat (AGAIN), then hit shops, or this poor little baby will have to sleep nekkid in a drawer when it arrives!

liath · 21/03/2007 13:00

Hello to the new people ! Nellyhel, I'm due on the 13th too (but was a week late with dd so won't be holding my breath).

Are you feeling better Runny? I think a meltdown can be quite therapeutic, in a wierd way.

Had a lovely swim with dd though no hint of sleep from her. It was so nice to have the weight off my bump for a bit and float around.

Don't know about anyone else but one of the best bits of being pregant is the enormous comfy knickers . I've been in my up to the armpit ones more or less since the BFP. Hmm, maybe that explains the lack of "attention" from DH !!!

Bugmum · 21/03/2007 13:04

Blimey, 3 newbies and none of them (so far as we know in nappies!). Welcome, ladies.

Took DS for new shoes this morning; usually, a total MELTDOWN in Clarks, but today just a few chocolately tears Then popped into Body Shop to get an eyeshadow (pregnancy brain: just spent at least 30 seconds trying to think of the word for eyeshadow!!), and the man in there gave me a leftover freebie from their Mothers' Day Promotion, even though I only spent 7 quid. Wasn't that sweet of him? He said it would be useful for me to take into hospital. Makes a change from the nasty comments or having our cloaks of invisibility on, doesn't it?

I have done one thing: written a provisional birth plan for my hoped-for VBAC. Am very proud. Due to see consultant (well, no doubt 12-year-old, non-English-speaking, male registrar) this afternoon and MW next week, so thought I'd better get assertive.

And I've eaten lots of things - does that count as preparation?

Flump - thanks for saying nice things about my book!
xx

maveta · 21/03/2007 13:08

Hey girls, just popping in while eating lunch. Had a lovely salad to make up for total lack of veg/fruit ingested yesterday but my halo lost its shine a bit when I polished off a ginormous pain-au-chocolate in about 30 secs flat

Where IS Mammyjo [suspicious]?
Hugs to runny for your meltdown but sounds like you needed it and I'm guessing you feel miles better now?
GMM - good on you girl for staying in the thongs! I'm still in my normal pants but the thongs got chucked to the bank of the drawer some time ago!

Hello phdlife/ nellyhel/ mavornia and welcome!

Charnbump - good luck, I've got my fingers crossed for you..

and more hugs to 1b3 and ooogs who definitely, always, deserve them the most

Okay, I'm knackered from the memory power that just used up - PHEW.

NAPPY QUESTION for clothies (i.e. Octo and Liath!) when using a two part system, do you put the nappy inside the wrap and slip it under their bum at the same time or do you put on the nappy fully, and then put on the wrap??

Pesha · 21/03/2007 13:19

Hello nelly and mavornia

CharNbump - Cant remember when you are due? Very exciting that you might be having your baby soon!

Hensden - think it was you ages ago sympathised with me about being sick - Im not that bad, since about 26 weeks my sickness dramatically went from at least once a day to only about once a fortnight but still feeling really sick all morning and often most the rest of the day Eca think you've been really bad too havent you? So glad the end is in sight now. And somehow ive still managed to put on over 2 stone, dread to think how much i would have put on if i hadnt been feeling sick so it has had some benefit i guess

Managed to have a little sleep this morning while ds was at playschool and dd just lying watching telly. She has been having little sips of water all morning and asked for some orange juice just now but has brought it straight back up again bless her.

Dc are watching big cock little cock (will have to be careful not to start calling it that all the time!) Not only are they completely annoying but big cook is so obviously a completely hopeless cook and doesnt have a clue The DC are however both sat there in silence watching so I shouldn't complain too much! I think they're both very tired after last night but they wont ever have a day time sleep anymore so they just zone out in front of the telly in the afternoon when they tired and have quiet time instead.

nuttygirl · 21/03/2007 13:25

Welcome Mavornia, each time I post today there seems to be another newbie!!! It's madness here tho so be warned!!!

OMG HAVE JUST DISCOVERED SOME WIERD THING ON MY COMPUTER THAT OFFERED TO MAKE MY KEYBOARD SLOW AND USELESS _ ERR WHY WOULD I WANT THAT>

ARGH CAN@T GET RID OF CAPS AND ALL MY SYBOLS ARE COMING OUT WIERD

Tili · 21/03/2007 13:28

hi everyone

Hello to all the newbies!! this thread gets a bit hard to keep up with if you dont manage to check in everyday, just thought Id warn you

Can I please have a slight moan?

These excersise things to get baby to turn are really starting to hurt the bump. After i have done some the right hand side of my bump just by my navel really comes out and aches for a good few hours afterwards. Any ideas what this is and indeed if it should be happening?

Had a slight panic last night thinking that maybe he only has the room to move his limbs but not to do a huge turn

Hope all those having bad days sick DCs etc get better soon.

best wishes esp to 1B3 and OOGS xxx

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 21/03/2007 13:34

Hi and welcome Mavornia and Nelly - you have come to a lovely place!

God, I have now forgotten everything else!

Charnbump, fingers crossed for you.

Liath, pmsl at you in big knickers since your bfp! I too am in big knickers and they are the most unattractive item of clothing I have ever seen in my life!

I am getting some awful pains - every time I eat something, the baby moves and the sharp pains that follow are hellish. I actually have to shut my eyes and hold on to something.

Right, really need to get off this PC and get stuff ready for B's swimming lesson.

Hello to everyone - I am thinking of you - promise.

Back later on. xxxxxxxxx

mammyjo · 21/03/2007 13:39

Hello everyone and welcome to phdlife, nellyhel and mavornia!
Sorry to disappoint but I am still around with belly completely intact! Would love to have other news to tell you but not yet. Getting loads of pains this morning after a reasonably long walk round town then in tescos, all to look for stuff to make an easter bonnet for ds (great that he goes to school but I seem to have homework most weeks)!! Seeing midwife this afternoon for regular appointment. Cant believe my due date is not much more than a week away now.

Runny, hope you are feeling a bit better now. Dhs mum is exactly like your mil. She sits in her house and just expects everyone to visit her, will never make even the slightest effort to see anyone else or even pick up the phone.

1b3, hope you are doing ok. Did you manage to speak to the midwife?

Oooggs, hope your appointment went well this morning. Thinking of you.

Have a good afternoon everyone. The sun is shining here so its a good day, made better by the fact that for some reason I have been paid several hundred pounds more than my regular salary! No idea why but shall be keeping it quiet until I get my payslip through the post and check it out!!

runnyhabbit · 21/03/2007 13:42

Afternoon all
mavornia - welcome to the madness
Thank you ((hugs)) back to you all. Am much, much better. I feel so much better since having my "meltdown" Maybe it actually needed to happen Have done absolutley nothing this morning, but have just had some salmon for lunch, so have got some energy for this afternoon. Really, really need to get some housework done (sigh)
