Have just finished my Tesco on-line order, sure I have forgotten loads as my brain is exhausted today. Have also cleaned my oven! Would like to say it is nesting but really it has been needing done for ages and I am just trying to get through a few things before junior arrives. Glad I have a tea that just needs shoved in oven as once I have been for school pick up I will need to just sit and watch kids tv. Hopefully dd in a good mood after school, she often comes out v grumpy as tired and hungry, and it is really hard not to start yelling at her...

Liath - good to have someone with the same due date. I've been 3 days early and 3 late with my first two, so am convinced this one will arrive on his due date. That's pregnancy logic for you - or rather lack of. (Same logic that says because dd was 8lb9, ds 8lb 10, obviously this one is 8lb 11 and I won't believe otherwise.)

Midwife tomo. Need to check baby isn't breech as they couldnt decide last week. Hate the "mmm not sure if that is a head or not" comments, makes me feel like it is an alien inside after all! Generally mw here are all vg though!

(Thanks for all the welcome messages)

IsabellyMoi · 21/03/2007 14:18

Welcome Phdlife, Nelly and Mavornia. Lovely to have you join us!

Hugs to Ooogs and 1B3. Hope things start looking up/your consultants & MWs are helpful and understanding/contractions start and/or you get dates moved for C-sections. We all admire your stamina! Not long to go now.

Nice to see you back hotlipsmummy!

Runny - glad you are feeling better since the meltdown. Sometimes tears can feel so cleansing (especially if the DHs/DPs are compassionate during the meltdown!).

Exciting news CharNbump! And, congrats on the last day of work.

I can fully empathize with those who can't sleep. I was up at 4:00 yesterday morning!

Duchesse - if you are still lurking - it is very nice to see you. We haven't forgotten you. Hope you are okay.

Great sympathy to Eca and (?? forget who) who are still feeling sick. I would have been on here moaning about it the whole time but you seem to have struggled through very bravely.

I just did all my catch-up thread reading with a perma-grin on my face....it is good to read all your news (even the bad news IYKWIM).

I have a 37 week MW appt this afternoon! I love my MW appts. Slightly worried the bean is back to back but we'll see.

Sorry for the long post. Have a great afternoon all!

nuttygirl · 21/03/2007 14:18

Woo fixed my computer problem!!!

mw visit today went really well, everything as it should be (although she didn't measure me cos she couldn't find the tape measure!). baby is 4/5 (ie 1/5 in 4/5 out) so all seems to be heading the right way!

HV visiting later today...dreading it a bit...don't know why. Had to laugh tho cos mw said "Goodness me, that's the 2nd person I've seen today who's getting a visit from HV, you must be honoured" so am thinking she's only coming cos she had sod all else to do!

geordiemacminx · 21/03/2007 14:43

woooo hooooo here too... just managed to save £400 on dp's car insurance!!! Happy days!!

Is anyone else experiencing baby hiccups quite a lot - usually 3 or 4 times a day here.... bit weird sometimes...

nuttygirl · 21/03/2007 15:18

GMM - not so much now...I used to get them lots but now it just seems to be kicks and not really hiccups anymore. Wow to saving £400 - now you can go on a shopping spree!!!!

HV just been, she was a student HV and was really nice...really chatty and easy to talk to. Also made it clear that all babies are different so what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another, which I was really pleased about.

octopussyintummy · 21/03/2007 15:35

Afternoon all - have 20 minutes peace before ds1 home!

Welcome to Mavornia, phdlife and nellyhel - you will need to be 'buddied' if you want to be - 1becomes3 in charge of it - basically we have a buddy each and their mobile number so we can text them any news.

Bram shott - green discarge - have you mentioned this to your midwife? Only that meconium is greeny black and if you are leaking water it could be a sign of dsitress - sorry to create panic - may be nothing

Maveta - nappies/wraps - I tend to put the wrap and nappy on at same time - so lay wrap on floor, nappy on top then baby (or bunny!_ on top then do it all up together - remember to check no cloth sticking outside the wrap

Had midwife appointment this morning with birth plan - all fine - she was really good about stuff - said should go in at 5 minutes apart which thought was quite long - so will probbaly go in when need pain relief! She has made a note in my postnatal bit about having continuity in care for breastfeeding and to have a plan and stick to it rather than lots of differernt mw opinions. She thinks baby will be about 8lbs which am quite relieved about! Has also said would be better to have a tear rather than a precautionary episiotomy as may only tear on the skin but epis goes through everything. Also says if have a good delivery can transfer 3-6 hours to Chippenham and get out of Bath asap. Next appointment in 2 weeks at 38 +3 !!

Any news of the twins? and good luck charnbump!

liath · 21/03/2007 15:38

Loads of hiccups here too. Especially when I'm trying to get to sleep.

Maveta - I usually put the nappy on first then the wrap. Doing both at the same time might be easy when they are teeny but once they start to wriggle then one at a time works best. Had to go through a phase of changing dd standing up as she just would not lie down at all. Luckily she's more compliant these days. If I could just pursuade her to use a potty.......

octopussyintummy · 21/03/2007 15:40

Oh yes - lots of hiccups too - goes on for ages and the whole side of my tummy will move everytime! Amniotic fluid is obviously quite yummy!

liath · 21/03/2007 15:41

Sounds like octo has a better knack of nappy chnaging ! I am a bit cack handed.

Must do birth plan.

Bramshott · 21/03/2007 15:50

OCto - don't worry! Using the word green is probably just me being overly dramatic and trying to make it sound more exciting than it actually is! It's more yellowy really - mucoussy, and looks like strings of snot (in fact I have very similar coming out of my nose today courtesy of DD!). The most exciting would be if it were the plug coming away gradually, but sadly I fear it's only the lovelyly named "increased discharge" .

Smole · 21/03/2007 15:56

Just to let you know I'm still here. Been reading all posts but no time to post myself. Still at work. Got until 30th March. I'm determined its not coming early.

Welcome to all the newbies.

Finally got broadband at home so will be able to keep up when I finally go on ML.

Come on - someone has got to start labour soon.

AngeG · 21/03/2007 15:57

I can't keep up with you lot at the moment! Have been lurking

Big hugs and labour vibes to 1becomes3 and Oooggs, feel free to come on and moan whenever you wantYou've both done so well to get this far.

Can't believe there are still no babies

Had mw appointment this afternoon. All ok. Only measures me 34wks and I'm 37+3 but isn't worried because the scans I've had so far have shown normal growth. Baby is 1/5 in and 4/5 out so like nutty girl says going in the right direction, not that it matters as my section is booked for 2wks today[aaaarrrrhhh].

Sorry there is nothing personal. I have been empathising(sp) with you all as I have read but cannot remember anything

Back later...hopefully xxxx

AngeG · 21/03/2007 16:02

Ooh forgot to say welcome to the newbies, great to have you here. You may have already realised that we are all slightly mad.

Smole good to hear from you, was just thinking I should text you. Can't believe you're working till 30th March. Do you work full time? I only do 2 days and am planning on 23rd being my last day.

Baby also getting lots of hiccups here
Also suffering with the increased discharge as well...pregnancy is so glamourous(sp)

Smole · 21/03/2007 16:07

Yes I work full time 5 days a week. The MW asked me why I was working until so late and I said coz I'm stupid!

I've had enough now and am really ready to leave. I'm very of everyone already on ML.

Pesha · 21/03/2007 16:14

Lots of hiccups here too that seem to go on for ages.

Nellyhel - have had exactly the same logic until recently but now starting to doubt myself - dd was 6 days late, ds was on time (well 5 mins to midnight on day before due) so had been expecting this one about a week early an dd was 8lb ds was 8lb 5 so was expectingthis one to be about 8lb 10! However am now doubting everything and for some reason see me going over due and baby being bit smaller than before or smaller than ds anyway. No logic at all for that though!! However im still expecting to go into labour at the weekend as ds was born on a sat and dd was born early monday morning but after being in labour all weekend. Just cant imagine going into labour during the week or even weirder having a baby or going into hospital during the day!

Nuttygirl - glad you liked your hv, they really can be a great help and support if you get a nice one but i hear of so many people whos hvs are judgemental self righteous cows and give them more stress than support so yay for you having a nice one Mine is very nice and has really helped with potty training and toddler training!

octopussyintummy · 21/03/2007 16:17

Bramshott - nice!

Hello Smole and AngeG

Meant to be feeding boys but they have said not hungry and seem quite settled so am getting my mn fix! House tidy, dishes done, washing done - completely guilt free!

AngeG · 21/03/2007 16:18

Stupid is a bit harsh I'd say at least you'll have longer after the baby arrives. Still don't think I could manage full time, although I sometimes think work is easier than looking after Jake

AngeG · 21/03/2007 16:18

Hi Octo

Eddas · 21/03/2007 16:31

Hensden, saw mw today and she recommended that i take my own pillows in, so thought i'd let you know too. Apparently they keep buying new pillows for the ward but she's been in there recently and they keep disappearing. She said the other day one delivery suite had no pillows and the lady just had to use the bed, so bring pillows for my own comfort!!!!! Oh and i have to keep my butt in the air thing going as, as i thought the baby hasn't moved

hensden · 21/03/2007 16:41

Octo - I didn't understand when the MW said transverse with head down, didn't question it at the time, at least he'll always be able to get a job in a circus

Welcome to all the newies, it's nice to have like minded people to discus excess discharge, vomit, snot, nits etc enjoy

I've been reading up on baby turning tips, asked DH to give lower bump a good stern talking to, he told me to S*d off, so tonight I shall be sleeping with his mag-light shining up my gusset, (was wondering if anyone knew (ie nutty) do they make a light up rabbit, more fun than a mag light

Thanks for that eddas, you might like to join me and try the mag light or if your DH will oblige the stern talking to method, I was told about the pillow thing last time (3yrs ago) they also said to make sure you use bright coloured pillow cases otherwise THEY might steal them

Hello Smole, I was in Sittingbourne the other day, that's over your way isn't it??

octopussyintummy · 21/03/2007 16:46

I have to say I have never heard of shining a light up there to encourage them to turn! The last time my cervix got checked they had this giant torch which they shined up there - not very complimentary I have been leaning over my birthing ball, spending 10 mins each day on hands and knees and sleeping on left - seems to be working - he spends more time at the front now which I am pleased about.

I assume the maglite is for a torch and not a rabbit substitute

IsabellyMoi · 21/03/2007 16:48

Quick hi to buddies AngeG and Smole!

Halle · 21/03/2007 16:57

Hiya

Sorry to gate crash this thread but I am looking for input from pregnant women...this is not meant as a promo or market research but really a "have I the wrong end of the stick? - are people not that interested"

I have just developed an antenatal with a difference that covers the stuff AFTER birth; I plan on discussing things like:
1)What the immediate post-birth experience will be like; physically, practically and emotionally
2)How your relationships will be impacted with the arrival of baby and what you can you do about it
3) What your new self will be like - how your body recovers and your self image changes
4) Breastfeeding the ups and downs.
5) How to cope with crying babies
etc. etc.

Is this all just too much to take in when you are due to give birth and you figure you will deal with it all once the baby is there or do you think it might be something you would be interested in?

Any comments greatly appreciated. Really sorry if I have annoyed any one with this request - just feeling a little anxious that I have put a lot of work into a bad idea.
Thanks
Helen

Lusciousladylush · 21/03/2007 17:03

Hi,

I think this would be invaluable. I'm just about to pop out my second, and didn't even think about any of this stuff with my first... too busy reading up to the birth and then skipping on to 'baby in arms'.... which I imagine must have been a perfect baby in my dreams, in reality sleep.... what was that? breastfeeding.... help!. and why am I crying into my breakfast on day 1 of babys life!!

Consequently alot of the hard bits cam a bit of a shock!

Be interested to find out other peoples reactions... sounds like a good idea to me.

weeonion · 21/03/2007 17:04
