Thanks for the drink recommendations think I need to get more adventurous than Tesco for cordials Grin

I'm going to go against the grain and not recommend Game of Thrones... watched the first season with DH and wanted to kill too many of the characters because I hated them so much. 2 or 3 seasons later DH convinced me to try again (because most of them were dead) and in that episode someone was killed by getting their head swished by hand! I had nightmares and never watched anymore

Fair point @savagehk maybe I need to watch all the subtitled ones on maternity leave before baby turns up!

Ooooo who said new Line of Duty starts - is that series 4? Grin

So recommendations, Grey's Anatomy is awesome, if you haven't seen any of it you need to make sure you also watch Private Practice at the right time (I think from S3 of Grey's). You will need tissues regardless of hormones! If you like that also try Scandal and How to get away with Murder.

West Wing is always worth a rewatch, I use it to restore my faith in politicians then for a reality check watch the Thick of It which is hilarious! Madam Secretary is also good.

I've been saving up the Chicago Med and Chicago Justice seasons, I've watched all Chicago Fire which while not amazing acting or storylines is a good bit of escapism.

Designated Survivor is really good but I'm watching with DH so can't really plan to watch in the middle of the night!

Recently discovered Code Black and Conviction, ooo and love Elementary...

Can't think of anything else at the moment.... oh and I can't sleep can you tell Hmm

nursebickypegs · 25/03/2017 04:20

@1004Rise GoT is really violent and TBH I forget how bloody it is. With my husbands epilepsy medication, he gets really vivid dreams so whenever we have binge watched GoT he has horrible nightmares Sad

I need to watch Chicago Med; I'm a huge law and order SVU fan and it's always advertised during the break.

Good luck with your fruit cordial cocktail tasting!! I have an addiction to Robinsons. When we went to America to get married I couldn't buy squash, and had to pay $8 for a bottle of orange. I wish I was mad, but I also spend $6 on salad cream as well...

WishIWasSleeping · 25/03/2017 06:42

Oohh - Loved the first series of Chicago Med!

jennymac31 · 25/03/2017 06:44

Teaspoon - scummy mummies are two comediennes (ellie Gibson and Helen thorn) who have a chat show for 'less than perfect' parents. They've interviewed various people including sally phillips and cherry Healey as well as the 'unmummsy mum' and the author of 'hurrah for gin'. I find the interviews quite funny (warning âš  - there is a fair bit of swearing in the interviews) but quite informative as well. They have a Facebook page and are also on twitter. I've started getting into it because I have 'the unmummsy mum' guide and 'hurrah for gin' on my audible app

jennymac31 · 25/03/2017 06:53

Oops sent last post too soon.

I don't know if it's tiredness or laziness but am rubbish at reading books so having the audible app has enabled me to listen to books when out and about. Both the unmummsy mum and hurrah for gin also have Facebook page and are also probably on twitter, instagram etc.

Have liked listening to recent interviews with clemmie hooper whose just published her book 'how to grow a baby and push it out' but I don't think it's available on audible yet. Another one with a Facebook page (gas and air).

This is probably why I'm tired all the time, stalking Facebook in the early hours when I should be sleeping!

Rustler74 · 25/03/2017 06:57

@nursebickypegs whilst going out to London yesterday to meet a few MN'ers, I had my arms protecting bump the whole time, particularly seen that I arrived in euston around 6.00 it was mayhem and people don't pay attention really!
Love your nursing chair!
@1004Rise I'm also not too keen on GOT as it is too bloody!
@lullaby23 yes Cordon was filmed in Antwerp in the very institute of tropical medicine where my mum has worked as a nurse!

Woke up really early with a massive cramp in my left calf muscle again. I had to get out and stretch it and now wide awake obviously!
OH and I are off to NCT this weekend so quite excited. It's so real now! Maybe I was slightly in denial as well, not about being pregnant but about the end result of it, in less than 9 weeks!

I heard back from the specialist midwife yesterday who reassured me that my thyroid function is ok and that low TSH is 'allowed'. Growth scan still happening on 6 April but will try rearrange her appointment to 10 or 11 April instead.

jennymac31 · 25/03/2017 07:03

Hello again ladies

Forgot to ask if any of you have started going to NHS ante-natal classes? How many weeks pregnant were you when you started going? Have any second time mums been offered NHS ante-natal classes?

RasperryInAMelon · 25/03/2017 07:19

Thanks for the new thread @PeachIcedT

Good work @Sipperskipper I've gotta get through next week and that's me done!

Welcome @LJD0407

Hands up with @Badgerbird have us ladies got much more growth to happen in the next impending 10 weeks or so?

@Adventuregame we had a crazy active lady last night too! Although I was so tired after this last week! I fell asleep about about half 9 and have slept right through till 7am and only woke for a wee!

@ShiniBerry we're not 'doing' anything for Mother's Day, but DH has gotten me a card from LO for Xmas and birthday recently so we'll see...

@nursebickypegs some idiot on the tube elbowed bump yesterday and got most offended when I shouted at him and told him to look where he was going (dickhead had sunglasses on) his response was, I can see you're pregnant but I need to get on! (Tube was rammed, I was going one stop and had a cosy spot by the door).

Your chair is the same as mine, I live in it!

@jennymac31 We went to one NHS class a few weeks ago due to scheduling and start our NCT classes next Weds when I'll be 32w

jennymac31 · 25/03/2017 07:20

Teaspoon - forgot to add the link to the podcasts.

www.acast.com/scummymummies

lullaby23 · 25/03/2017 07:24

rise yes series 4 starts on Sunday, been bumped to BBC1 & Thandie Newton is in it.

rustler how interesting I didn't know it was a real hospital where they filmed it!

ClaireSunflower · 25/03/2017 07:42

Nursebp I am really protective of the bump too. I don't usually have to get the tube but did yesterday to get to the London meet up and I definitely had my elbows out ready to shove anyone that came too close!

What an arsehole raspberry. I hope he felt bad after elbowing you in the bump! Sunglasses on the tube says it all tbh Hmm

Was lovely meeting up with the London ladies yesterday and to put faces to names!

I've got yoga this morning but planning on having a relaxing weekend other than that. I had my first nct class on thursday evening which was really informative and another yesterday morning so feel like I could do with a rest now!

mrspage1985 · 25/03/2017 07:48

Place marking! Thanks for new thread!

Autumnsweater · 25/03/2017 07:50

Jenny I start the NHS antenatal classes soon, I'll be 33 weeks (it's my first). Not signed up for NCT ones ( was worried they'd be like Barnes class!)

OMG Rise I second Grey's Anatomy! Have been saving Scandal for mat leave Grin.

I have an Audible subscription and the BBC radio app on my phone, some of the radio 4 dramas are quite good.

Been enjoying The Daily Show recently as well if people like political comedy was thinking that might be a good one.

newbieho · 25/03/2017 07:57

Morning ladies!

@jennymac31 We have the NHS class booked for 22 April so I will be quite far. Breastfeeding class scheduled for 06 April.

savagehk · 25/03/2017 07:58

Jenny I'm going as a second timer, but it's only one session and the mw was a bit surprised when i booked on. I said no to the bf one as i hope I've got that sorted :) mine's the day before I'm 38w!

Brightsmoke · 25/03/2017 08:03

Jenny, DH and I went to ours last week when I was 33+3, other ladies there were about 35 weeks, and some were about 30 weeks.

Hoping for a nice relaxing weekend, pottering about doing some gardening :)

WishIWasSleeping · 25/03/2017 08:06

Jenny - I haven't been offered any classes in anything.. little disappointed to be honest.. this is my second baby. The midwife mentioned them in my first pregnancy and I said I'd think about it but didn't go. This time I'm having a longer time away from work so would have liked the interaction after babies are here I suppose, although I live in a village and we don't even have a shop so would probably have to travel all the time...

And I don't think my bump has grown at all in the last few weeks.
DH has just taken DD out to buy breakfast today though... hazelnut decaf latte and a sausage, egg, mushroom and cheese cob with brown sauce is on its way back to me... Grin so bump maybe slightly bigger in about half an hour! Grin

PeachIcedT · 25/03/2017 08:09

Ouch, the splits @LJD0407 that sounds super painful on the SPD, hope you're not in too much pain after that. Mine has been mostly fine, did have a PGP episode but it's mostly died down, and now the rib pain is unpleasant but overall she's been a well behaved baby (so far!). I'm also thinking of opting for a water birth if possible.

I got tired of GOT's constant violence in the end, without giving anything away a particular scene in series 6 upset me given my current situation. The series I love is Orphan Black - the right mix of humour and seriousness.

@RasperryInAMelon an elbow to the bump? Ouch! Commuting whilst pregnant seems to be much more challenging than it should be.

@jennymac31 I went to NHS antenatal class in February (about 28 weeks), and in the middle of my NCT ones currently.

Looks like a sunny day all day today! Anyone have any nice plans? I'm starting the day off watching DH and my friend run a parkrun (and secretly pleased I am not running it as that course is brutal!).

OP posts:
Rustler74 · 25/03/2017 08:30

@raspberry I may be a misandrist but I'd have squeezed his knackers (with my knee?) and said I had to get on too. If he's too oblivious to even apologise, I may omit to be considerate myself. Argh that would make me so mad!

We are NCT-ing this weekend and I'll have bf class next Sunday. The NHS classes are 4 and 11 April 2 times 2 hours and then 2-3 hours bf class on 22 April.

jennymac31 · 25/03/2017 08:37

I'm 32 weeks and midwife hasn't mentioned ante-natal classes. She's now left the practice and am due to be allocated a new midwife so left voicemail with practice about the possibility of attending any classes but suspect I may have the boat on this one. I'm not keen to do the nct classes as there quite expensive plus they are a bit of a distance away from where I live.

savagehk · 25/03/2017 08:45

Here there's a number to call to book on, your mw just gives the number. Have a look on the front of your notes?

jennymac31 · 25/03/2017 08:59

Savagehk - I couldn't see anything in my notes and all the numbers at the front of my notes are emergency numbers but I'll give the midwife practice another ring next week.

Am supposed to be going to ikea this morning and not really looking forward to it but needs must.

1004Rise · 25/03/2017 09:04

@Autumnsweater there's still one episode of Grey's I haven't watched because I knew I would spend the whole time in tears. I could deal with the aftermath just not the "reality" Blush

I also second radio 4 dramas, well actually just about anything on radio 4 Grin

@RasperryInAMelon Just shouting was very restrained of you I might have punched him HmmI actively avoid the tube when I'm in London, I try and walk instead because I hate the squeeze. Not much use when you're pregnant Blush

Going to seek out the scrummy mummy podcast @jennymac31 Another podcast I'd recommend is The Guilty Feminist, done by a couple of comedians whose names escape me Confused But starts with things like "I'm a feminist but I've just spent £300 on getting my teeth whitened"

It's DH's birthday tomorrow and it's the start of the MotoGP season so we'll be spending most of the weekend watching that. We had the surveyors in on Thursday and the Estate Agents in on Friday to take photos so we're having a well deserved (well DH deserves it more than me) weekend off before the house goes on the market and we're (hopefully) inundated with viewings! Grin
