@MrsJW15 New Look! If you go on Amazon, they are about £6-£7. They come in S/M/L, I'm a 16-18 on bottom and these are more than comfortable. I've just ordered some more. Bless him. I got some other bits and bobs as well as I'm a happy mummy today.

MrsJW15 · 26/03/2017 17:19

I have some new look leggings Nurse but I don't really like them Sad - I find the waistband really uncomfortable.

Sipperskipper · 26/03/2017 17:28

Love the pic of the baby bits on the line! Might be a silly question, but what am I supposed to wash? (Just newborn, or all of it?) And what in?

Teaspoon74 · 26/03/2017 17:33

MrsPage - lovely pic!! Getting into practice ;)

MrsJW - I'll probably join you ;)

Spent a couple of hours sorting out baby clothes and stuff in the nursery. Feel a bit more relaxed now I can see how much I have, though no idea how many muslins etc we're going to need. Got a fair amount of 0-3 babygrows etc, and very little 3-6 and 6-9 but don't see that as a problem at this stage.

Hisashiburi · 26/03/2017 17:48

What a beautiful day!! Hope everyone is having a nice day.

I absolutely love that speech that Bartlett gives...It's on par with when Leo waits for Josh after his counselling session "as long as i got a job, you got a job" ....M
akes me weep every time!! I can't wait to rewatch them all if I can!

Have a lovely restful day everyone and enjoy the sun!xx

nursebickypegs · 26/03/2017 17:49

@MrsJW15 oh no! I think M&S do nice soft ones. They are my usual go to, along with cheap primary ones.

@Sipperskipper I've washed mine in my usual laundry stuff; Ariel non-bio and then fairy fabric conditioner. A friend of mine did a run in the washing machine with some dettol stuff so it was all anti bac... I was like, oh was I meant to do that?

teainbed · 26/03/2017 17:53

Lovely to see those baby clothes on the line! Another bonus to being a summer baby. I can't imagine an extra pile of folded clothes in the utility, it'll be very strange!

Lovely long walk in the countryside this afternoon but think that is my final one for now. I felt ok whilst I was doing it but really stiff and tired after so sunk into a bath as soon as I got in. Also the lack of loos!

MrsJW15 · 26/03/2017 18:15

Sipper I was also wondering if we needed specific washing stuff!

RasperryInAMelon · 26/03/2017 18:24

Crappy afternoon here... tried rearranging some of the bedroom furniture to get the Moses basket next to the bed, it fits - but not comfortably.

Tried to put some washing away in a bottom drawer, dropped it all and then had to sit and watch DH put it away (he's rubbish at folding stuff up too)... all ended up in tears with me being upset that I can't do things myself anymore 😩

Rustler74 · 26/03/2017 18:26

NCT course was great! Next Sunday breastfeeding session as well. All lovely people there, and our nct lady was a midwife. We learned lot about the labour (normal, assisted, c-section) and early care of the baby.

About the washing, I was wondering if I'd also wash the brand new clothes already. Bought fairy non bio but was unsure whether to put fabric softener in, too.

Had humongous reflux last night, and once again now, so definitely looking at gp call tomorrow.

1004Rise · 26/03/2017 18:30

@Teaspoon74 totally with you on that Bartlet speech, I've even used some of it myself Grin

Do we need to wash all baby stuff in non-bio? I have a habit of being allergic to washing liquids (and many other things) so concerned baby will be the same, wondering if I need to start "testing"

@teainbed think I'm in the same boat, was so sore yesterday after our short walk (pregnancy redefines length and steepness of things) and I haven't had any hip or pelvic pain so far. Think I need to stick to taking the dogs round the block and DH can take them down to Aviemore for hill walks to tire them out.Blush

@RasperryInAMelon the GoPro is banned from the room, as is the SLR... iPhone may be allowed after the main event Hmm

Bought some Lidl nappies today, getting quite a collection of different ones Wink

RasperryInAMelon · 26/03/2017 18:56

@1004Rise I've allowed on the basis that if and when I want to, I'll watch or have a look at photos on my own before anyone else's eyes go anywhere near!

Rustler74 · 26/03/2017 19:09

SLR Camera allowed in room as I do want memories, but I stick to my original thoughts, no photos on fb unless in secret group.

yellowismyfavourite · 26/03/2017 19:12

Those photos are amazing but definitely not for me... any photos taken in hospital are to be taken by us!

This might sound like a stupid question but if the clothes are new do they still need washing?

I think I have pulled either a muscle or a ligament near the top of my bump on the right hand side... Feels like a stitch and very very painful... especially when baby gives it a whopping kick!

Brightsmoke · 26/03/2017 19:16

Snap mrspage, though mine isn't as photogenic as yours 😂

It's been such beautiful weather, DH and I have done some hanging baskets and pitted some plants today, the garden is starting to take place finally. So looking forward to spending time in the garden with the baby :)

I was told that for washing, as long as it's non-bio it's fine

Brightsmoke · 26/03/2017 19:18

Thanks everyone for the kind words about my 'D'M, seeing all the posts today about Mother's Day has been hard, but I luckily have a fantastic MIL who will help whenever needed

EsmesBees · 26/03/2017 19:29

DD had baby eczema, and we were recommended to use the gentlest non-bio we could. So we still use ecover zero which her skin seems fine with. And will do for the new one too.

Yellow I think you are supposed to wash the new clothes as they are treated with something, but I never do and dd's skin doesn't react to them.

PeachIcedT · 26/03/2017 19:42

@teainbed and @1004Rise I'm also feeling the pain after walking too far and too fast, I forget I can't rush around anymore, especially not uphill!

Went to support at the parkrun yesterday and two of volunteers asked why I wasn't running - I thought by now it'd be obvious I was pregnant even through my hoody!

Sounds like lots of us have made use of the sunshine to do some gardening - me included. I finally started various seeds off in the greenhouse. I grow a lot of plants so this whole giving birth in May thing is making it tricky as that is a busy planting time!

By the way I must suggest to any of those who's DH/DP is willing to provide massages, a full arm massage is such a treat! Because having to lie on them all night they get so tense, it's heaven!

nursebickypegs · 26/03/2017 19:46

@RasperryInAMelon we are having to change the entire bedroom around; I sleep next to our draws and have a tiny space while husband has all the room. I think we are going to "mirror flip" the room.

I have had bad back ache and BH this afternoon. I can't wait for a bath and bed.

Today is draining; I lost my maternal Nana back in 2009 on Mother's Day, so my mum just locks herself away for about a week. I got a message from my Dad this morning saying not to contact her as she's sad. I'm totally selfish, I want to grieve with her and celebrate her, but haven't been able too. DH has promised that next year we will go out to celebrate and make it a day to remember, not a day to dread.

vanilla8 · 26/03/2017 20:01

I haven't washed any clothes yet, I have been waiting to see baby's size as we have lots of newborn/up to 1 month that perhaps we will need to sell if baby is too big!?

I will probably wash all the 0-3 and 3-6 months clothes though.

Mothercare have a 2 day sale preview on, got emailed the link today. Bought some Peter Rabbit on sale Grin

mrspage1985 · 26/03/2017 20:09

Just washed in non bio, I was told to wash everything as it can contain some chemicals to stop items getting creased in shops?!
Have also done blankets and muslins, just grobags to do!
Also had a productive day besides the washing, had bought some cloud shelves from eBay which were cut from mdf (big cloud at back, shelf and then little cloud in front of shelf)! Could buy them painted or unpainted, thought u painted was best so I can paint to my colour scheme - cue me covered in paint and my chocolate Labrador with a white foot from jumping up and putting paw into the lid of the undercoat 🙈🙈. Wish I had just bought painted!!!
Undercoat done and drying overnight, off tomorrow so going to do the final colour coats tomorrow (grey and mint!) so can't wait to get them up!

Lots of love to all the ladies struggling without mothers today Flowers

RasperryInAMelon · 26/03/2017 20:16

@nursebickypegs we don't have room on either side to move anything sadly. I'll try and post a picture of our room later, then if anyone has any suggestions that'd be great!

savagehk · 26/03/2017 20:34

I'm sensitive to strong scents etc so we only wash in mild detergents. We don't use fabric softener at all as our water is soft. Currently use traidcraft's laundry liquid, but also use/have used ecover and faith in nature. I don't intend to wash the new stuff but have washed the stuff that's come back to me or been stashed to freshen up. Reminds me, think there's still a box waiting my attention....

Rustler74 · 26/03/2017 20:55

We have changed our room around last week, as our bed was standing in the length of the (still quite big) room, and I was worried that I would trip over the stand of the Moses basket if I were t go to the loo in the night.
Our friends helped moving it around, even if OH was unsure of it would work better. After a week, I must say it's 100 times better than it was and we should have done it like this in the first place. I'll take a photo in daylight, and i bet you'll be jealous of our bay window.

Now I have a chatty mumsnet thread to monitor as well as keeping track of a whatsapp group from nct class. I won't have a life haha!

Badgerbird · 26/03/2017 21:24

raspberry you're just worn out Love. Wait till you're on mat leave and you can get some rest, I'm sure you'll feel much better Brew

Sorry to hear you been struggling today and not able to see your mum bicky. Glad your DH spoilt you :)
