Happy new year ladies, looking forward to a great 2017 with our lovely LOs Smile

Who
Hello and welcome! Smile Feel free to add yourself to the spreadsheet if you like.

Carol Glad your consultant is looking after you now and you had a good Christmas with the boys!

Hugh Hope you enjoy(ed) your Mothercare splurge!

I've been really struggling with lower back pain Sad Even minimal walking/standing, getting out of bed, etc is painful. I don't think it's helped that I haven't done pregnancy yoga or gentle swimming for a while (yoga stopped over Christmas and I've been too busy to make it to the pool for ages). I did go to the pool yesterday and didn't actually swim much (very gently and slowly and not for longer) but being in the water was HEAVEN. And I'm seeing a midwife on Tuesday so I'll ask her about the PGP clinic I've heard about. Also going to try and see an osteopath - has anyone had any success with osteopathy for back pain / PGP?

Carolann8584 · 01/01/2017 11:13

Think my ribs are moving now, the lower part of my ribcage is aching all the way round. So far I think I've been lucky with very little to no back pain, not sure if that has something to do with my slipped disc injection I had.

Very excited to start my antenatal classes on the 13th, they cover quite a lot over 6 weeks. The price wasn't too bad either £62 for the course Grin

Carolann8584 · 01/01/2017 20:53

Awww bless my DSS1 he's 6 got all upset today thinking my OH loved DSS2 he's 4 more coz he gets loads of tickles etc. Got himself all worked up and upset. Had to explain DSS2 gets more tickles and picked up more coz he's smaller and still ticklish, DSS1 fake laughs when tickled as he isn't ticklish anymore.

So so nervous telling them about beany now, as they get jealous of each other getting attention but this is first time one of them has been genuinely upset thinking one is loved more than the other.

Butterpuff · 01/01/2017 22:52

Happy New Year all. Sorry I've been quiet as busy with Christmas and redecorating the house. We did this last time. It's a nightmare. Hope you have all enjoyed Christmas and New Year.
Carol I'm glad your going to be looked after now.
Hugh I've bought dresses, shots and t-shirts from h and m all been great. I've never bought vests or sleep suits though.

BallyAllyBuzzyBee · 02/01/2017 21:21

Hi All, usually a lurker on Mumsnet but thought I would join this thread. Due 31/03/2017, updated the spreadsheet too.

NameChange30 · 02/01/2017 21:31

Bally Hello and welcome Smile

Butter We've also been really busy with decorating/DIY and Christmas, bit of a killer combo and I'm actually quite relieved Christmas is over! We have a few more house things to finish but we're nearly there thank goodness!

MotherofA · 02/01/2017 21:54

Happy New Year all and welcome to the new members ! I haven't posted on here in ages , how is everyone's baby shopping going ?
I have been stocking up on clothes in bigger sizes in the sales as have more than enough 0-3 Smile

Carolann8584 · 02/01/2017 22:00

Think we are sorted for 0-3, just need a coat but want to see how she is doing on growth scans first. Will be swapping bedrooms for DSSs bedroom as they are currently in the smallest room next to ours so they will be going in to their new room by the end of January so we can start on the nursery, will be buying all the big items then as well, cot, moses basket, nursery furniture etc

Looking at breast pumps and monitors at the min Grin

MotherofA · 02/01/2017 22:08

I bought the Clair De Lune Noah pod with rocking stand on sale quite a while ago although saw a basic rocking crib in John Lewis and wished I had bought that for around half the price haha .
Went for the Angelcare monitor after reading reviews , I got a mid range one around £80 . Originally wanted a camera one but they didn't have very good reviews so went with that .
I also have growth scans booked due to untreated thyroid in early pregnancy . Fingers crossed all is well hey CarolAnn. We really need to move to accommodate new baby as have DD and DSC so she will be in with us for the mean time haha . Smile

NameChange30 · 02/01/2017 22:45

Mother

We have bought:
Pushchair - Mamas & Papas Armadillo Flip XT (half price bargain from Mothercare Smile)
Car seat - Cybex Aton Q
Bedside crib - SnuzPod
Cot bed - Boori Urbane (from Kiddies Kingdom) and a natural mattress (from the Little Green Sheep)
Chicco 2-in-1 changing table and bath (from Boots)
Plus some bedding and clothes

I'm starting to think about everything else we need to buy! I'm looking at the Medela Swing breast pump - has anyone used it? This is my first baby so I have no idea how we're going to get on with feeding, but I'd like to try breastfeeding plus pumping if possible, so that DH and others can feed the baby if he takes a bottle.

Also need to buy nappies and probably loads of other stuff I haven't even thought of yet...

NameChange30 · 02/01/2017 22:48

Oh and a changing bag... I've found a couple of gender neutral ones (what's with all the handbag-style changing bags, as if it's just for mum and not dad too?!) so I just need to show them to DH and see what he thinks.

MotherofA · 02/01/2017 22:51

Ohhhh it's so exciting isn't it ! Eeeek!
I am not breastfeeding this time but I did last time and the Medela pump I had was amazing , two friends also used one and swear by them ! You definitely need an electric one I tried a hand one first off and that was ridiculous haha .
We got our pram with quite a bit off at mothercare too because they have changed the model slightly haha I got a Bugaboo Cameleon , I swore for years if I had another child I would have one and intend to use it lots . I plan to walk my DD to school and back every day so I've told her we need to be more organised in the mornings haha .... I'll let you know how this goes Grin.
Starting getting mildly panicky about things we may need , c section , bottle feeding in hospital etc but trying to stay happy and not get over whelmed with it all .

MotherofA · 02/01/2017 22:52

Namechange hahaha on the changing bag ! I don't like the handbag ones either to be honest ! I've found one (not bought yet ) which is a unisex funky rucksack style one . This was one of the most difficult choices actually as I hated all the ones I saw and wasn't willing to spend on something I didn't like !

Carolann8584 · 03/01/2017 09:17

You too Mother

WOW I am really behind on my buying lol, but hoping to have a spree all in one day. We were discussing nursery furniture last night, think we have most things picked that we need but until the rooms get changed we haven't anywhere to put anything.

We were just going to decorate and move the boys things into to big room as a surprise then my OH said what if they don't want to swap rooms? This didn't even occur to me. Our little lady would look a bit lost in the big room even if she's not going to be in there straight away.

My DSS (6) got very upset when we took him home last night we have had them for the past 10 days so he didn't want to go back, was heart breaking. Really am dreading telling them about their new little sis on Saturday. Dreading questions like " why does the baby get to live with Daddy and we don't Sad

MotherofA · 03/01/2017 13:32

Don't worry about buying , it's not like we need it yet , I've just been kind of accidentally collecting but still need so much more !
You're DSC are so lucky to have a step mum like you ! I find step parenting a real challenge sometimes , much more than parenting . That being said , we told the children really early about the baby and didn't get any direct negative reactions . The are more likely to direct those questions towards their mother I think if they ask them at all . DSS has said I wish you weren't having a baby and said another nasty thing but I said to him that he is going to be a big brother and his baby sister will need him to protect and look after her . He said yes .
If they spend lots of time with you and feel involved (which by the sounds of it they will) I don't think you have anything to worry about . We have to just make the best of these situations don't we ?

PS how have they not noticed your bump haha and how did their mum take it or does she not know? Smile

Carolann8584 · 03/01/2017 13:52

Think they are just to polite to say I'm getting fat lol. Their DM doesn't know, she had a baby girl in Sept and we only found out through the boys, My OH never saw her when picking the boys up, she would hide behind the door. So when we found out she had been born My OH simply said congrats that was the whole conversation Shock

Back in work today, feel drained already, are we all counting down twice? one for MAT Leave and one for due date Smile

MotherofA · 03/01/2017 14:22

Haha so cute ! Wow that's strange isn't it, not saying anything ?! Well that's good though, the boys will have already experienced a new baby and a girl too

As for Mat leave omg yes I have zero energy and work from home so really struggling to get motivated plus the house still feels trashed from having family kids over the whole Christmas period . I appear to have lost my mojo !

NameChange30 · 03/01/2017 14:41

When is everyone starting maternity leave? My official start date is 13th Feb (2 weeks before my due date) but I've decided to book annual leave the week before, so I'll actually finish on 2nd Feb. One month to go!!

Funny because back in November when I had to decide when my mat leave would start, I wanted to work as long as possible and was worried about getting bored if I stopped too soon before baby was born. Now I can't bloody wait to finish work!

MotherofA · 03/01/2017 14:58

I am planning to stop around the same time . End Jan / beginning Feb . Can't actually wait . My bump is so big and I feel really really heavy and tired ! Think I've caught stomach bug off DSC , not actually being sick but felt very sick for a few days. Envy

Carolann8584 · 03/01/2017 15:00

I'm finishing for Mat leave 13/03/17 (due 16th arrrggghhh) but am having 2 weeks annual leave before so finish on the 27th Feb. Wanted as much time with my LO as poss, plus I work in an office so nothing too strenuous. Just means I don't go back until 2018 Smile unless we split the leave but not going to decide that until at least Sept/Oct time Smile.

Carolann8584 · 03/01/2017 16:24

Hope I make it til then. First day back and had my first experience of light headedness! I am now on Labetalol to steady my BP as it was up and down. Just had some cereal to see if that helps, 5 can't come quick enough!

MotherofA · 03/01/2017 17:19

Ah bless you Carol that must be so stressful ! Hope you feel better soon .
