Butterpuff I'm not sure about the UK but over here they seem to test for everything! I have blood and urine tests after every obstetrician appointment, which are every two - four weeks!! Yesterday they took seven vials of blood!

Carol that's great that your meeting went well but what a waste of time and additional stress for you. I hope they realised how ridiculous it all was. Good luck with your GTT - I have no idea about the gaviscon. I was only told no food or drink except for water.

Lovely that you get extra scans, and got to see your baby yesterday Name (also that all was well of course). I also find those 3D scans pretty scary looking usually but have really loved seeing mine in 3D too...maybe it's the start of always thinking your own baby is the most beautiful in the world Grin. Congratulations for the third trimester and I hope you regain some energy soon.

I got my GTT result and it was negative so am feeling pretty relieved. Good luck for your test next week Hugh.

Interesting to read about the bra sizes - did you find that your boobs got much bigger from your pregnancy size to nursing size? I will need to buy some nursing bras in advance unfortunately and am a bit concerned about which size to buy.

Carolann8584 · 08/12/2016 07:22

Oh Sad went all night without drinking anything! I usually drink about 2 pints of water through the night but thought no drinking at all? My head is killing me this morning due to lack of water.

I bought 2 nursing bras came to £38 or so, went up 1 more cup size incase, plus I read having a bit more room is good for milk coming in, Is that right?

Carolann8584 · 08/12/2016 07:23

Also I haven't had blood taken since my first MW app, is that normal? Confused

NameChange30 · 08/12/2016 09:17

carol

I've had blood tests at the following stages - all routine:
8 weeks (just after booking in appointment)
12 weeks (just after my scan, this was because I chose to have the combined screening test for Down's, Edward's and Patau's)
28 weeks (the Lucozade test)

So there was a 4 month gap between the last two!

Carolann8584 · 08/12/2016 09:44

Thanks name I forgot about the bloods at 12 wk scan. Just had my first lot taken for GTT sat waiting now, just want to snooze

NameChange30 · 08/12/2016 14:38

Genghis
Thanks for your kind words. Glad your GTT results were negative!
No advice about nursing bras I'm afraid except that Bravissimo were very good when I had to get refitted earlier in my pregnancy.

Anybody lost weight during their pregnancy? Just weighed myself, lost 5lb since Monday

Butterpuff · 12/12/2016 10:12

Carolann I lost a lot in my first pregnancy in the first 20 weeks or so but after that started gaining. I think by now with the size and weight of baby and the fluid your carrying I would expect some gain or at least staying level 5lb in a week sounds a lot unless you are still being sick, or not eating enough. Has your MW said anything about your weight? Are you really tired all the time?

I'm still wearing in rotation the two nursing bra's I bought from mothercare when dd was a week old. This morning a bit of wire popped our of the side. I thin its time to treat myself to some new ones. Not sure where from yet though, not time for shopping so it maybe mothercare online again same ones as last time as I know they fit at least.

Carolann8584 · 12/12/2016 10:34

My MW hasn't weighed me, not been weighed officially since 12 week scan by the hospital. No appetite at the moment so I don't think I am eating enough. I am still being sick every so often usually if I have had really bad heartburn during the night I will be sick in the morning but that's just water plus that should stop now the MW has given me something for the HB

Carolann8584 · 12/12/2016 11:21

Struggling to find an Antenatal class that doesn't run over weekends Sad we have my DSSs Saturdays over night and Sunday. My OH doesn't want to change their schedule so wants to do a course during the week instead. NHS classes at my hospital only do weekends Sad My MW seemed to be a bit off when we said we couldn't attend them. She said couldn't someone else come with me or can someone babysit. That really wasn't the point, I want to be there when we have the boys, love them to bits and would miss seeing them.

NameChange30 · 12/12/2016 11:34

Carol
Can you afford to pay for private antenatal classes? Most of them run on weekday evenings. NCT might do an essentials course near you, which is slightly shorter and cheaper than the signature course. You could also see if there are any other courses run by Daisy, Wise Hippo or another organisation. I'm doing a hypnobirthing course (which also covers general antenatal course content) and I found it by Googling hypnobirthing in my city.

Carolann8584 · 12/12/2016 11:39

Thanks Name I found one on Daisy but it's for women only so OH won't be able to go and he really wants too.

Will check the others out you have mentioned and get googling Smile

NameChange30 · 12/12/2016 12:21

Women only? That doesn't make sense, partners are usually allowed to attend antenatal classes. Are you sure?

Carolann8584 · 12/12/2016 12:36

Yeah coz they include yoga and exercises as well in the class I was looking at. Emailed them to see if they had anything to suit what I was looking for

Butterpuff · 12/12/2016 12:45

Maybe mention your weight loss at your next MW appointment carolann by the time you get to 26 weeks they start measuring baby I think so will start to be interested more in our weight gain and growth. Baby will usually take what they need first so unless you have major weight loss which should have been picked up baby will be fine. But if your weight loss is still significant it may leave you feeling less energetic than you could otherwise.

I did evening NCT classes where we were but I know they are not always available. If your midwives cant offer anything I think you will need to keep looking for private evening classes if you would like to do something. Not everyone does classes, some do none but I think they are not only useful for information but also for meeting people and for getting into the having a baby is real mindset! We are doing hypnobirthing this time around (even though baby will be delivered by planned C-section) Confused

Carolann8584 · 12/12/2016 13:10

Had my 25 week (even though am 26 wks) appointment with MW last week, she measured bump and was happy with the measurement, seeing her again on Wednesday coz she wasn't happy with my BP 120/80. so she wants to check it again. Had a stressful week in work last week so I don't think that helped matters.

Might be the same this week as I have another meeting on Thursday with my manager and HR to go through my maternity and annual leave for next year (we do Jan to Dec). I have submitted a letter on both with my dates so we shall see Confused

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 13/12/2016 04:47

When are you all planning on starting your classes? I'm also interested in the hypnobirthing course, so will be interested in seeing how you find it Name.

Good luck at your MW appointment Carol - hopefully your bp will be fine.

I went with Bravissimo in the end for the bras so fx they'll be suitable. I'm already a G cup so I really hope they don't get much bigger as my poor back is already in pain!

NameChange30 · 13/12/2016 08:12

Genghis

I've already started! Had the first session last week (at 28+3). There are women on the course who are further along but I wanted to start early-ish. The first session was good Smile

My boobs are huge too and I got a bra from Bravissimo (Panache Sophie bra). Also got a 2-pack of sports bras from M&S that have served me quite well! Like you I'm hoping they don't grow much more Confused

NOT New Look ones! I bought a 2-pack and only wore them once - they kept falling down.

BeccaSays · 13/12/2016 16:17

Hugh i recommend Asda maternity tights, and they're only £3 a pair.

On the antenatal classes subject, we are doing private classes by a local company called About Birth and Babies. Just like NCT but was about £40 or so cheaper. Signed up to do them in Jan!

Hope everyone is doing well Smile

Ha, I've been studiously avoiding One Born Every Minute, and the hypnobirthing teacher has advised us not to watch it! Our "homework" includes reading positive birth stories and watching positive birth videos.

Birthwise Antenatal DVD www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004EQNJ7C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_lvfuyb7Q3K05B

Anybody used a dvd instead of going to classes? Really struggling to find a class that doesn't include weekends. I could do the women only one but really want my OH to be able to join in
