This is going to sound really stupid but I had forgotten there's a placenta in there 😂 It's hard enough to imagine the baby and I always forget about the placenta when I try and visualise it!

ahsan · 28/09/2016 16:15

Hahaha namechanger.

Butterpuff · 28/09/2016 16:22

I'd not try to visualize it if I were you name after DD was born the midwife showed me ours in a bucket (I couldn't run away what with being numb from the waist down after C-section) horrible looking thing.

Best just to imagine your little swimming baby doing summersaults in there. Grin

😱

CatalinaFuckingWineMixer · 28/09/2016 18:21

I'm 18+4 and think I've felt little flutters a couple of times, but nothing particularly regular yet. At the 16 week appointment I could hear baby moving around sooo much when she listened for the heartbeat, it was very strange to think that baby is moving around so much in there without me being able to feel it! Shows there must be a lot of room still! I have my 20 week scan next Tuesday, very excited to see baby again!

alphabook · 28/09/2016 18:29

I also have an anterior placenta. Felt a couple of faint movements so far, pretty sure it was the baby and not just indigestion anyway!

MissClarke86 · 28/09/2016 18:50

I had my 16 week midwife appointment today (even though I'm 17 weeks) and heard the heartbeat :) I did have to ask though, and they said they don't normally do it in case they can't find it but can do it if we request, so I did! It's put my mind at rest until the 20 week scan (18th Oct)

I've not really felt anything yet, just pulling.

DaisyBank82 · 28/09/2016 20:14

17+4 here and feeling lots of movement this week! It's baby 2 though so I recognise it as the baby more easily. It feels a bit like trapped wind bubbling around in there but it's more often and with no... Ahem... Omissions! And with the occasional roll too. I'm loving feeling it although of course now I know I can feel it I get worried if it has been a while since I last noticed it! I am v overweight and I was so worried last time I wouldn't be able to feel it or that DH wouldn't be able to but I could and soon enough he could too! It's magical. I can't wait for my daughter to feel it! Although it's so abstract to her it just sound bonkers when I tell her there's a baby in there. She will think I ate it!

Dozygirl · 28/09/2016 23:24

Second baby hear and still none the wiser about movements 😂😂 17 weeks today and I think the movements are wind. You'd think I'd know better. Keep meaning to check my notes to see where my placenta is. Last time I didn't know I had an anterior placenta until right near the end and a midwife mentioned it.

Dozygirl · 28/09/2016 23:26

So no one here's going to keep the placenta attached and carry it around until it naturally drops off then? 😂😂 saw that on a programme when I was pregnant with dd. They had to cover it with oils to hide the smell. So grim.

NameChange30 · 29/09/2016 07:14

Dozy Nope, not going to eat it either! 😂

SuperDuperJezebel · 29/09/2016 07:20

Can't believe no one wants to eat it! I don't know why but the idea of it being grey is what grosses me out the most!

Got to hear baby's heartbeat yesterday, I know it's silly but it's nice to be reassured she's still in there!

BeccaSays · 29/09/2016 07:26

Dozy girl oh I'm definitely going to pop my placenta in my handbag and carry it around. Perhaps my friends and family would like a nibble. WinkConfusedEnvy

charlybs · 29/09/2016 08:09

Dozy I haven't read my notes either - so much of it seems like gobbeldygook so I just nod and smile when she says things as it all sounds positive haha.

Hearing the heartbeat is lovely if you've had the chance. I don't know why but I'm actually fairly relaxed about it being ok - I'm more terrified about how I'm going to look after it when it pops out!

We took home our travel system last week and DH stared at the car seat and said "shit, it'll be in that and we'll take it out of the car and bring it into this room... Then what?!" And we both just laughed (from pure fear)

I've done it!! I've order some MAT clothes, coming tomorrow Smile

Carolann8584 · 29/09/2016 11:56

16 weeks today, had my first flutter! Smile

DaisyBank82 · 29/09/2016 13:02

I had a good look at the placenta and found it pretty interesting. I felt strangely proud of it. I didn't think it looked very appetising though.

LightTripper · 29/09/2016 13:56

I've only ever seen a sheep's one ... I had absolutely no desire to eat it Confused

LightTripper · 29/09/2016 13:56

Double-yay for Carrolann! Exciting times.

hugh I got some nice long maternity strappy vests from New Look, i think they were 2 for £7, maybe you could wear something like that underneath the tops that aren't quite long enough?

neonrainbow · 29/09/2016 19:33

I really need to sort out all my clothes and pack away my smaller stuff but that's so much effort. Grin
