Welcome herroyal Smile

I got some ASOS leggings recently and they're not see through. They aren't fleece lined tho, wow!

I'm definitely finding my massive knickers are better at the moment - mat jeans pull them down a bit if not. Unless I have some that stop underbump which are ok too.

charlybs Gah, I did think that was a cop-out Angry

HerRoyalNotness · 01/10/2016 14:27

I won't need fleece lined, doesn't get so cold here, just something tat doesn't go see through.

I was tidying my bedroom the other day and folded a pair of jeans. As I held them up the light was shining through them and I realised all the threads by the pocket had gone, and I'd been wearing them on the school run thinking how good they were Grin. You could see my knickers straight through them.

HerRoyalNotness · 01/10/2016 14:28

I did get some maternity knickers too, they have a wide band under bump to keep them up and don't dig in. I found the brief style ones I bought sit too low and irritate my CS scar

SuperDuperJezebel · 01/10/2016 15:47

Ooh where did you get those from, herroyalnotness?

I quite like h+M maternity leggings although I found them quite long on me.

Beautytobe · 01/10/2016 16:50

Yeah that's a rubbish spa! Am a spa therapist and there are oils to avoid but oils that are great for pregnancy, now far along are you. Your safe to use all the bits like sauna and hot tub as long as you don't spend too long in them to avoid over heating. The reason we ask pregnant people to be careful is so they don't pass out and Sue us!!!!

NameChange30 · 01/10/2016 17:22

I was 18+4 when I went to the spa. Obviously ticked the "pregnant" box on the form they make you fill in, but I don't think they even read it because no-one said anything. I told the massage therapist I was pregnant and I think it was the first she knew about it Hmm

It was a bit of a crap spa but I feel bad complaining because the voucher was a present!

MissClarke86 · 01/10/2016 17:45

Beautytobe, i think i'd still avoid saunas and hot tubs. If you're meant to avoid your internal temp getting too high then I really wouldn't want to take the risk.

Going for a spa day (alone!) is one of the things I'm really looking forward to once baby is here and old enough to be left for a day!

HerRoyalNotness · 01/10/2016 20:05

super. I went to a specific maternity shop here, am in the US, 5 for $25, I made a mistake and got 2 briefs so will have to go back for me.

I feel cross as last year we had some issues and I was having a clean out in prep for a move and cleaned out my maternity stuff. Begrudge buying much stuff again, just as well I'm at home this time and not needing office clothes

Dozygirl · 01/10/2016 21:44

I went clothes shopping today. Thoroughly depressing. Bought some maternity jeggings and joggers from new look and a normal dress from Dorothy perkins but that was all. I was hoping to find some nice stretchy vest tops and warm cosy cardigans but just couldn't find anything. Just feel fat and frumpy. I don't look pregnant at all to anybody who doesn't know, I just look fat.

Going to get back on slimming world and try to feel better about myself. But tonight I've had Chinese and chocolate. Oops.

Last time I just bigger knickers not maternity ones but low rise ones so they sat under the bump.

NameChange30 · 01/10/2016 21:58

Dozy
I've been struggling with clothes for at least a month. Funnily enough I feel a bit better now my bump is more obvious, I feel pregnant and not fat any more! At risk of sounding like a broken record, I recommend online shopping. There's a lot more choice and even if you have to send a lot back, at least you can try it on in the comfort of your own home.
I've had some success with Next, Debenhams and Vertbaudet maternity ranges. Didn't get on with H&M but they do have quite a bit. Gap do too and it's worth looking out for their discount codes.

NameChange30 · 01/10/2016 22:01

Oh and I also got a non-maternity tunic (White Stuff) which is loose and very comfy with leggings. As well as a non-maternity oversize shirt (Asos) which is a rare combo of roomy and stylish, but I haven't been able to wear it yet because I still haven't found trousers to wear with it that fit Sad

Dozygirl · 01/10/2016 22:42

I only went because my friend was going and I wanted to use her student discount in the shops 😂 got 20% off things as well.so it was well worth it. I'm still at the looking fat stage really and that's only because I have a mum tum left from first pregnancy. I have very wide hips so baby grows loads in there before I pop out. Was probably 23 weeks before I got a noticeable pregnancy bump with dd. I'm just generally unhappy with how I look and have been since getting pregnant first time round because I went with the 'im pregnant I can eat what I want' mantra and I've not been able to lose it since. I know weight isn't everything but it really can affect how confident you feel about yourself. It's madness.

Dozygirl · 01/10/2016 22:47

I did one online shop from Dorothy perkins and did get a nice pink t-shirt in the sale which is lovely and spacious at the front but rides up at the back annoyingly because of your love handles. And nearly forgot to send the other item back. In fact very not received any confirmation yet so I really hope it's not lost and I do get my money back. It was a hideous maternity shirt dress.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 01/10/2016 23:24

I'm (slightly nervously) checking back in here again. It was so, so helpful being able to comment on these threads in the early days when we weren't able to talk to anyone else, but since it's DP's pregnancy I haven't wanted to take up too much space.

But I've been lurking, and seeing these discussions about clothes I wanted to post.

DP is measuring very big for dates - we think this is partly to do with having crinone (progesterone) gel prescribed, to help prevent miscarriage, but we're not usre. Anyone who has experience would be really useful! Anyway, she's been in maternity jeans since (IIRC) week 7.

dozy, Gap has some nice stuff - including not in their maternity range. Just nice T-shirts, including a vest with some ruching to the side that wasn't intended for pregnancy, but obviously covers a bit of a belly. They also have loads of t-shirts with horizontal stripes - and a clingy shirt with stripes does say 'pregnant not fat' like nothing else!

I've been trying to find DP stuff she'll wear and we're getting there, but blimey, it's pricey! Everywhere seems to assume if you are pregnant you love pink and ruffles and showing all the cleavage in the world. We finally found some reasonable shirts (mamalicious) and some men's shirts (Gap again) fit ok, but it's not exactly easy.

SuperDuperJezebel · 02/10/2016 07:10

Welcome back LRD, please don't feel you shouldn't post here... I had been wondering where you'd got to as I hadn't seen you post in a while but didn't want to message you in case you'd had bad news. If you want to join the facebook group give me a shout.

Dozy, DP take ages to process returns so all is not lost!

HerRoyalNotness, shame they're from the US... SIL lives there and FIL is back from visiting next week, she's sending me some stuff with him but I think knickers might be pushing it!

BeccaSays · 02/10/2016 07:51

Anyone else got baby brain? Had a severe case yesterday. Went to my hairdressers and turns out I was a month early for my appointment (soooo embarrassing) and then I went to Asda to collect my aforementioned leggings order and after punching the order number into the machine a couple of times and getting a 'computer says no' message I realised I was at the wrong store! Blush

Happygojo86 · 02/10/2016 07:51

Last time I bought size 20 'full brief' knickers which reached around my bump.... but be warned ladies.... these knickers haven't left my underwear rotation yet! Once you feel the comfort of massive granny pants.... it's hard to go back! Grin

I am going to need some new maternity jeans, my H&M ones are going to be too small on the thigh very soon but my peacock ones are massive, and cropped so not winter friendly (all size16!). I will buy some at the end of October on payday. Will also coincide with the 20 week scan so maybe baby will get something too

neonrainbow · 02/10/2016 08:09

Welcome back lrd i wondered where you'd got to as well Smile your other half isn't carrying twins is she? Wink

I got a load of maternity clothes off Facebook selling pages so I've probably spent about £60-70 and got everything I'll probably need except a coat now. I got a couple of nice work dresses from new look and peacocks included in that. I need a waterproof coat for under £50 but they're very thin on the ground. Winter ranges are only just coming in i suppose. I can still wear my other coats but they don't do up.

SuperDuperJezebel · 02/10/2016 08:23

Neon there's the JoJo one, it's £65 but there's the 10% off MN discount code with free delivery which makes it £58.50? Too much? I am going to order one today.

charlybs · 02/10/2016 08:23

Welcome back LRD! I'm also measuring big but we think it just runs in the family - my mum did too with me.

ASOS have a good maternity range if anyone is still struggling. I am still on the look out for long strap tops though as the ones I ordered were rubbish and I sent back!

Becca i definitely have baby brain. I keep going to the completely wrong cupboard in the kitchen for a bowl - never done it before. I'm also being fairly stupid at work but thankfully my boss is about to go on maternity so understands haha

Thanks super i didn't know there was money off ill have a look Smile

BeccaSays · 02/10/2016 08:50

Has anyone had any thoughts on ante natal classes? I was thinking about booking NCT, but I heard they're pricey. It would be good to make a local circle of new mum friends for a bit of a support network. I did some googling and there are a couple of other privately run classes too. I was thinking about doing the nhs one to view the maternity and delivery wards but apparently they don't do that here anymore.

Charlybs so glad to hear it's not just me!!

SuperDuperJezebel · 02/10/2016 08:58

I think the code is MN10, but double check that! Apparently they have a big event on in November but the lady in the shop said the coat is selling really well so she wouldn't advise leaving it. Charly I bought some long ones from new look and they seem good, I am still quite flabby around the belly so they're just to wear under stuff for me.

Becca I booked the NCT one, it is really expensive but DH talked me into it as he thought it was worth the investment. My midwives also run a free one that we plan to attend.

BeccaSays · 02/10/2016 09:42

SuperDuper which course did you book? I saw signature and essentials...do you mind telling me how much it is please? Thank you!
