Maternity jeans are sooooooo comfy! Love them Smile

SuperDuperJezebel · 02/10/2016 10:51

Hi Becca, we booked the signature course because it was more comprehensive. It was £307 plus £57 NCT membership fee. Not sure if that bit is optional! I am in London, I don't know if course prices vary by area?

Cloeycat · 02/10/2016 10:57

Must vary by area, I'm in Portsmouth and signature course is £210

NameChange30 · 02/10/2016 11:28

LRD
Hi, good to hear from you again! I LOLed at "a clingy shirt with stripes does say 'pregnant not fat' like nothing else!" - so true! Grin

Becca
YY to baby brain, it's been particularly bad in the last week! The other day I had a shower, got dried and dressed, then realised that I need to wash my hair!
About ante natal classes, I'd be surprised if there are no NHS classes at all in your area? Surely it's something they have to provide for people who can't afford to go private?
Anyway the NCT Signature course is about £215 in my area, if I remember rightly. Unfortunately they don't do the Essentials course near me, otherwise I would have done it because it's shorter and cheaper. NCT also do discounts for people on low incomes. And you could also look up the Daisy Foundation to see if they do any courses near you (there are none in my area so I don't know about the prices).
I'm doing a hypnobirthing course that's even more expensive than NCT Confused But I really want to try hypnobirthing and it covers all the general ante natal stuff as well.

charlybs · 02/10/2016 11:48

I've booked onto NCT (think essentials) as I have no friends here! So sucked it up basically but also aware we're in a position to do so!

I'm also on the look out for Daisy Active Birthing classes - they say they've got yoga and hypno-birthing etc as well which sounds cool.

I'm gonna start pregnancy yoga in November - couldn't find a course running before that near me.

Thanks for the top tip (geddit) super - I will check new look out. I want them for under things and also as pyjama tops! All my tops aren't long enough now haha

Charly, where did you find an essentials course? The lady on the phone from NCT told me the closest to me was peterfield or Bournemouth.. I'll be really cross if there was one in Fareham or somewhere close

HerRoyalNotness · 02/10/2016 13:19

carolann. Where did you get your mat jeans?

I ordered some from topshop but Sent them back, just felt too tight all over. Did the same with some tops from IO, I feel like I can't wear anything fitting, but as its been so hot and i wear a lot of loose things.

I'm wondering if I can ignore jeans this year and get some more jeggng type things instead with lots of give in them. But I'm not really a jeggng/legging person normally so may not get the wear out of them

Carolann8584 · 02/10/2016 13:40

herroyal Asda! They are so so comfy, I bought 2 tops 4 vests 2 leggings and a pair of jeans £60. Tops are comfy as well with a bit of room to grow into but doesn't look out of shape without a proper bump. Jeans have room to grow into with being massive on bum and hips all so no pressure on my little bump

Was shocked with being so cheap and I've always found Asda to be hit and miss

X

MissClarke86 · 02/10/2016 15:16

I booked NCT essentials for £130. I'm in Nottingham.

Thanks carolann. I'll have a Google, although I'd normally get MIL to send stuff over. But we're thinking of not telling her I'm expecting until about 30weeks. She has anxiety as it is and I don't want her to be worrying about me all the way through. I'm doing that enough!

charlybs · 02/10/2016 20:19

Cloey doh sorry I double checked and it was a signature course, sorry!

Is there any chain that does good maternity clothes?

Geckofabulous · 02/10/2016 20:47

Were looking at ebmaternity.co.uk and all the choices we've made are out of stock

NameChange30 · 02/10/2016 20:59

If you read the thread you'll see that plenty of us have made suggestions about where to get maternity clothes.

charlybs · 02/10/2016 21:27

Gecko - online only - h&m, new look, gap, next, Dorothy Perkins, ASOS. Take your pick basically but order online.

Thanks for your posts on NCT. I'll give them a tinkle to see how much they are here. Their is a daisy foundation class too, so perhaps I'll ring them as well. We do have NHS classes of course, but I mainly wanted to do them as I thought you got to visit the delivery suite etc to get an idea of what to expect. I really want to make some mummy friends to stay in touch with, and I heard NCT is the way to go for that.

I got my Asda leggings today. Can report they're nice and thick, but a little too long for me as I'm a shortie. Also wondering if I should've gone next size up as they feel a tad weird/uncomfortable over bump at the top. Maybe that's because I don't normally wear tight bands there...but then again I don't like stuff pinching in anyway...hmmm.

Dozygirl · 02/10/2016 21:41

Lrd welcome back. I was also wondering where you'd disappeared off to. No advice re:the measuring big thing I'm afraid. Could possibly mean being induced earlier if baby is genuinely getting too big or means extra scans to check in weight but other than that I have no experience.

Hugh I haven't managed to lose my baby weight from my dd so well done you on managing. Means I'm already starting off this pregnancy bigger than the first one so don't want to get even bigger. I have so much to lose though it's really depressing. I had done OK in the first trimester but now I'm starting to gain again. I'm finding being back at work particularly hard. I take healthy stuff but there's always biscuits chocolates or cakes floating around most days and I can't say no. I need a better mindset and stronger willpower. Can someone lend me some please 😂😂

I bought some maternity jeggings from.new look but they are annoying me already by constantly needing to pull them up. Oh well. I hate jeans at the best of time never mind maternity jeans.

Geckofabulous · 02/10/2016 22:16

Thanks

MissClarke86 · 03/10/2016 07:12

My maternity jeans are Jojo. It's annoying because I'm at a really funny stage. My normal jeans are too tight and I can feel my uterus is firm so they dig in. Maternity jeans are way too big and I have to keep pulling them up.

Other than buying a normal pair of jeans in the next size up I'm in limbo.

I'm struggling with tops too - I have 3-4 loose tops and that's it. All my others are ridiculously tight around my boobs and make my arms uncomfortable. Again, I don't want to waste loads of money buying things I won't wear for very long.

neonrainbow · 03/10/2016 07:51

I got my maternity jeans from asda for £16 and they're great the belly bit doesn't fall down or anything. I can't belive how expensive nct classes are i feel like i should do it but i don't want to spend that much. Tamba runs a twin class for £150 that i think might be more useful to me but won't make any friends there as we will have to go miles away.

Carolann8584 · 03/10/2016 10:09

Anybody having tingling fingers? mine are going completely numb most nights, so painful in the morning when the feelings coming back.

My app says to keep active as this can be a common pregnancy symptom, not sure what it means by keep active, my fingers start to go numb even when I am driving or I was reading with my DSS for his homework yesterday and they were going numb just holding the book with him.

I walk most lunch times, use to do 3 miles but I've dropped to 2 as I was getting very hot and it was taking a while to cool down in the office.

Butterpuff · 03/10/2016 10:30

I'm still only buying second hand maternity on ebay! I have a bundle arriving Wednesday that includes some tops and jeans. I'm just so tight with this!

Might try asda for some leggings. Also thinking about hospital post section. Maybe nursing tops that are long tunic like and over bump leggings. I know that I wont want anything too near my scar though. Hmm.

I did NCT 2 years ago, course ok friends great. It was around £300 with the NCT membership I think. This time I'm on a waiting list for NHS Hypnobirthing. Free under certain circumstances, but £250 if you don't meet the criteria. I'm surprised they will let me on it as I wont be delivering in my local trust area and I will be C-section. But my lovely midwife thought that it would be useful to deal with all the stress we will be under while little one is in NICU and having surgery. She thought it might help me deal with it better so I would have a better chance of breast feeding. Love our local MLU and all the midwives there.

NameChange30 · 03/10/2016 12:13

Butter
Your midwife sounds lovely! I'm glad you have the opportunity to do hypnobirthing. I think it will be very helpful even if with a c-section (that's why I'm doing it, I'm thinking it will probably be useful whatever happens).

Re NCT, I'm pretty sure you can take the course without paying for membership - you can in my area, anyway.

charlybs · 03/10/2016 12:51

Yep I didn't get membership I didn't really see the point. You can go to the nearly new sales without being a member and that's what I was focused on!
